Duck Curry
Laura R.

I returned for the duck curry and was once again amazed! I'm not sure what spices are in the curry, but it's definitely unique. The stuffed squid is beautifully presented, and the curry base is fantastic as well. The restaurant week menu is a great way to sample their various dishes. Overall, my experience at 8 Ping Yang has been nothing short of fabulous!

Udon seafood soup and crispy pork belly pasta

Came in for dinner on a Friday evening and didn't have much trouble finding a seat. We chose the pork jowl as our appetizer and it was our favorite bite of the evening when dipped in the sauce it comes with. For mains we had both the udon seafood soup and crispy pork pasta. They were both tasty, but I wish the main pork was more tender. I'd definitely like to come back and try the happy hour.

One of my favorite thai places! This location was the former location of Marjorie. I particularly enjoy their grilled protein choices from the char grilled menu on the dinner menu which is pretty unique compared your standard Thai joints. I got the bone in rib eye and pork jowel which I highly recommend. They also offer other meats and seafood like kurabota pork , seabass and shrimp which i will definitely try next time. Of interest is also their congee selection and Khao soi which have many options to customize!

Lamb leg Khao Soi

I checked out this restaurant with a few friends on a Sunday afternoon. It was pretty easy to find parking, and the restaurant was fairly empty so no line. I ordered the lamb Khao Soi, and we were all very pleasantly surprised how nice the plating was. The Khao Soi was pretty tasty, and the lamb was fairly tender. I thought the portion sizes were pretty small though. Overall I enjoyed coming here, but i didn't think it was so good that I'd want to come here again.

Green tea tiramisu

This spot had lots of great vegetarian options but not a ton of vegan options sadly. The drinks were quite unique, which was fun. The service was excellent and the people were all very sweet and helpful. I liked the intimate and kind of modern vibe of the restaurant. Lots of little booths but you don't feel like you're necessarily on top of other diners. I would definitely recommend saving room for one of their rotating desserts!

Congee with sea bass and century egg

I need to go back to try more dishes. Congee and Khao Soi are both delicious. Intense flavors for brunch but who wants bland scramble eggs anyways. We sat inside and stared at the chef's special board for a long time because everything looked soo tempting. This restaurant is the 3rd in the same spot I have been to - they did a nice update with cute koi and plant decoration and comfy chairs. Hope this one sticks around :)

This place was awesome... luckily / happily found it while visiting g Seattle. Started with the fondue of meats & chicken wings, I had the Braised Beef Khao Soi. Others in my party had Kurobuta Pork Belly Pasta, Beef fried rice, charcoal grilled Sea Bass. Each of these were a 10+ out of 10. The braised beef was cooked perfectly. The chef/owner came out to greet us...had a great conversation with him and the waiter. The fusion was great...Chef was culinary trained in Italian and French cuisine. For dessert we had a Pana Cotta with Lychee in it and a Green Tea Tiramisu. A great way to end our meal. I can't wait to come back to Seattle for this place!!

The congee is always amazing and the service is great! Just what was needed in the area

Hands down - best Khao soi in Seattle! 8 ping yang's value prop is its extensive Khao soi options - like grilled beef tenderloin, grilled prawn, braised beef, lamb legs, tofu, and even prawns! Another value prop: quality and attention to detail. Most Thai restaurants would give you an excessive amount of noodles and a few pieces of low quality chicken. 8 ping yang serves just the right amount of noodles, topped with a generous heap of crispy noodles (yum!) - and a large portion of beef tenderloin- well seasoned and perfectly charred. 100% worth the money.

Back for a third time! Everything here is outstanding. Such a thoughtful menu and great chef specials. Tina's desserts are some of the best I've ever had. Come support this business!

Happy hour Halibut and Calamari

We came here for happy hour on a beautiful warm summer afternoon. Outdoor ambience was lovely with green plant decor and dog friendly patio. Service was excellent and we ended up chatting with our server who is actually co-owner. We had a variety of grilled and fried proteins from the happy hour menu; Grilled Pork Jowl and Calamari Fritti were standouts, and we also enjoyed the Halibut bites and Chicken wings! For drinks we got the Pow Kapow with an excellent spiced basil rum flavor, and a Butterfly Pea flower lemonade. What a lovely experience! We are now making plans to bring our friends here for dinner.

Overcooked meats

We dined as a party of 4 and had papaya salad, a tofu soup, beef tenderloin, pork belly and their famous wagyu pasta. All the beef was so over cooked and chewy. The wagyu was also super charred. The middle pieces had some pink left but the outside pieces were burnt black. I don't understand the good reviews and how they could have let two burnt dishes come out of the kitchen? Super bummed cause I love the space.

Stuffed calamari - must try!!!

Really cute spot located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. To start, the cocktails are so good! We loved the G Wagon. The food was incredible. Every dish was so thoughtful. This is one of those places where you can taste the love in the food. The chef was so nice and came out to check on us a few times during our meal. We didn't make it in time for happy hour, but it looks like they have a really great HH menu with most dishes around $8. Try the green curry pasta!

The whole space has this intimate, luxurious atmosphere that makes the experience feel special the moment you walk in. We tried the Japanese Breakfast, which is a savory cocktail and such a pleasant surprise. It genuinely has miso soup notes. It's very unique and creative. I also had El Boho (flavorful but not overly sweet). The staff are always friendly and very knowledgeable when it comes to recommending drinks. The prices are on the higher end, but personally I think they're totally worth it for the creativity and overall experience. This is the spot I bring all my out-of-town friends to because the ambiance, vibes, and drinks are just that good. Truly one of Seattle's gems.

The First Gentleman was attentive and we got our drinks and an appetizer timely. We ordered our second appetizer with our first server and thats where the service deteriorated. I could hear the table next to us ordered the exact same appetizer as we did 10-15 mins after we did and a new server who must had just clocked in brings them the order literally within 2-3 mins later and the male commented, "oh that was fast" and I thought to myself they got our order. Another 10-15 mins go by and I had to ask "do you know how long our order will take to which she seemed to get annoyed. It could have my energy because by that time I was annoyed. I'm not sure what happened to our original server but he must have gotten off. About 5-10 mins goes by and here it comes. That confirmed the table next to us got our order because of how long it took. They never apologized for their mistake. Doing all that time they never came back to see if we would like another drink. I had to flag someone down. The clincher was we got our bill and there was 22% service charge. That was on me because if I would have seen it I might not have gone. I'm not a fan of automatically charging a service charge. I'm a great tipper but it must be earned. By than I was really annoyed and thought to have a conversation with the manager but let it go. I would not go back. The craft cocktails are spendy but I had no problem with that because they're creative and they earned it by being creative. But the energy and the environment wasn't like the other speak easy bars I visited. It was boring and to top it off the service charge of 22% and the service that came with it sealed it for me. Make sure to read the website on their thought around the 22%.

When the city reopened in 2021, I was eating here almost every day; partly because of convenience, but mainly because the food and service never miss. I've hosted everything here: birthday celebrations, after-work hangs, and dinners with friends and colleagues. Every single time, it's a hit. People walk in, fall in love with the vibe, and walk out talking about the food. The consistency is unreal. They even order food to go. The flavors? Bold, intentional, and layered in a way that makes each dish feel crafted, not just cooked. The presentation is always stunning; plates that look as good as they taste. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in what they send out. Drinks are equally impressive. Their cocktails are balanced and creative, the kind that make you slow down just to appreciate the mixology behind them. And for anyone planning group outings: reservations here are a breeze. They're incredibly accommodating with large parties, and the service stays sharp even when the place is packed. Attentive, friendly, and perfectly paced; they know how to take care of people. Dead Line checks every box: atmosphere, flavor, presentation, service, and seamless hosting for big groups. It's easily one of the most reliable and enjoyable spots in downtown Seattle, and it's stayed that way for years.

The front of the bar is standard tables with the back of the bar having cute seating areas. I got the gingerbread expresso martini which was really yummy! Our drinks did take a while to get to us despite sitting right at the bar but we did have a table of 7 so understood. We got our appetizers before our drinks: Brussel sprouts (SO YUMMY), oysters, and truffle fries (towered in parm!). These went down super quick. I then ordered the pork arepa for my entree and wow...not what i was expecting but will never regret! One of my favorite dishes I've had in a while that I'll keep thinking about. All the flavors worked so well together and the arepa itself was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The pork was sweeter due to the marinade and not salty at all which i preferred. Will 100% be back!

Roquette was a surprisingly small space with a wonderful vibe serving up "destination" bar-worthy cocktails. It reminded me of some of the neighborhood gem cocktail bars that I'd frequented on the East Coast. I grabbed a seat at the bar. Roquette's lineup of cocktails were varied in flavor profile using a wide range of spirits. They also served non-alcoholic offerings which looked equally intriguing as their boozy selections. I started off with the 99 Problems ($28), which, unfortunately, I forgot to note what was in the drink. It was boozy, clever, inventive, and most importantly delicious. My second drink was the Imperium Old Fashioned ($24) made with Westland Whiskey "Roquette" Barrel, Clement Cask Strength Rhum, Old Delicious Apple Brandy, Pineapple, and Spice. It was an excellent, boozy, balanced update to the classic Old Fashioned. Although I went with drinks off their menu, I have no doubt that any of their skilled bar professionals could've crafted me a wonderful cocktail if I had simply requested a classic or something on the fly based on my choice of spirit and desired flavor profile. Yes, the prices on the two drinks I ordered were pretty steep, but they were comparable to prices I've paid in Las Vegas. Plus, I don't have a problem with paying a premium for a well-made cocktail made with premium ingredients in a comfortable, welcoming setting (the drunken guy next to me who tried to engage with me in a political discussion excluded). Bottom-line: Roquette was a revelation. It served up two of the best cocktails that I've had this year. I can't recommend it enough and it'll be at the top of my list of places to hit the next time I'm in town.
