Within an expected back alley, you will find a wooden door with a small plate with the name"bathtub Gin" on it. If you are lucky to find the doorway, you should knock to enter this speakeasy. This speakeasy is the gateway to a relaxing environment that has an occupancy of 39 guest. Upstairs you will find a small bar with a single table for two. In the basement you will find more tables and a back room which holds more guest. For refreshments, if you are a gin fan then this is the place to stop for a drink or two has they have a long list of gins. If you are not a gin fan, there are plenty of other drinks to wet your whistle! We had great service on a Sunday, but during holidays, especially Halloween the place gets packed. You may want to secure a reservation during peak times. Lastly be careful in the area.

Nice dark vibe for a date night cocktail. I like their selection of gins and other spirits and the service was friendly.

Such a gem! As a Gin lover I stumbled across this little bar. Funny enough, I ordered a coconut Negroni which was delicious. A great place for the guys to hang, or bring a friend!! Immaculate vibes. I loved the bartender and service was consistent and fun.

We loved everything about BT&G! The whole vibe was on point for a speakeasy. Very laidback and social. We were immediately welcomed by a very knowledgeable waitress whole knew her way around different brands of gin! The drinks were top notch as well. This may be my new favorite hidden gem!

Very cool spot hidden in an alley in seattle. If you like gin, they're full of it! Our cocktails were well balanced, and I really enjoyed the spicy ness of the peppercorn in mine. Service was attentive and drinks were quick! We arrived right after they opened, and were sat right away. But this place is tiny! So if they fill up you may wait a bit.

Lowkey speak easy with an extensive list of gins (and other spirits). Friendly bartenders with approachable attitudes and good recommendations. They have everything from sweet, bitter, balanced, whatever you want and how you want it. Inside is small and first come first serve. The later it gets the less chance of finding a seat. Last time I came in, I was an early bird (Around 7:30pm on a week night) so was able to find seating.

One of our friends found this little gem of a speakeasy for us to visit, and thankfully we went because it was such a cool experience! When you get to the location, it's an apt building and tells you to go around back. This is when, I'd say the experience starts, bc as you walk around, you end up in an ally at a back door that could seem to be considered to some as a bit sketchy! But we were committed to the cause! So in we went, and were greeted and seated promptly. Definitely more of an original speakeasy type vs the fancy dolled up ones you see all over IG, which made this that much better! We were seated in a dimly lit room that had some great music going that was a very chill, yet upbeat vibe. Joe was our rad server for the evening, and was great at recommending some cocktails for us based on our alcohol preferences. I opted for the old fashion which was a great choice for a delicious nightcap. If you find your way being in downtown Seattle, definitely give it a go and enjoy!

Have been wanting to try this place for awhile some friends and I happen to be in the area for dinner and one of my friends suggested stopping in here for a night cap. We had a table downstairs dark space but so much character. The tim ceiling and lighting as you walk into the entrance. We loved our server so knowledgeable about the cocktails and the brands if gin. was great assisting my friend at selecting the perfect gin for his negroni. Attentive and friendly let my friend have a taste of the Gin she suggested for the Negroni on its on which we appreciated.

This was our first time at a speakeasy and this was a great introduction. We were taken into a dark and sketchy alleyway to find a wooden door. The bar took me back to the Shrek 2 movie. Made me feel like I'm at a small, traditional, old-timey, classic, prohibition-era bar but also the ambience of Shrek. It was so cool. The bartender really took care of us and gave us great recommendations, even for those of us who don't like gin. The vibes, drinks, and everything was perfect to end the night. We were very lucky to be placed at the bar because I do believe that is the best place to be.

This place gives somewhat speakeasy feels as it can be fairly easy to walk past this place without noticing, especially when it's not busy. It's located in the alley between 1st and 2nd Ave, and on a warmer day, you will be walking past rancid trash to get to the destination. The unfavorable exterior transforms into a somewhat classy and traditional ambience inside. The bar has upstairs bar and downstairs table seating, so take your pick since it's walk-in only and they take no reservations. I went here on a Tuesday after dinner around 7pm and I was surprised to find I was the only one there. I opted to sit at the bar for more interactions with the bartender and see their craft. I got the Aria de Capo which drinks like a dirty martini but a bit more citrusy from the lemons used. I was open to try and know it wasn't really my thing, but it's better than a traditional dirty martini. I also got the Mama and the Judge that is sweeter and more balanced. It's more tropical and much easier to drink. The straw they gave was very fragile so be careful, but the bartender was nice to give a handful of straws to pick in case the straw breaks midway. Service is good as the bartender had a good balance of having conversation versus making drinks and doing other housekeeping stuff. Overall, this is a decent bar in Belltown, a timely classic. I'd like to see more gin based drinks in the menu given this named as a gin bar, especially given the wide selection of gins on deck!

A speakeasy is a MUST when traveling. This was hidden in an alley which my friends and boyfriends were all skeptical of but I was sure of it! We entered through the wooden door after knocking and was immediately seated down. The area was simple and cute. The drinks we got were STRONG but we still enjoyed it. Wish we saw the bar upstairs though!

Unpretentious speakeasy with great cocktails in Belltown. It is tucked away in the back alley of 2nd Ave. We usually stop here for drinks after dinner. The drinks are always great and the bartender is friendly. I had the never heard of escanaba from the menu and my boyfriend described what kind of drinks he preferred, and the bartender worked his magic. Both our drinks were well balanced. This would be a great spot for a date night or solo date.

We popped in here for a quick drink after dinner on a Friday night. We didn't have a reservation, but around 10pm there was no wait and we were able to head right in and grab seats at the bar upstairs. The place is small and has a cozy, speakeasy feel with dim lighting and an intimate vibe. I had a Hugo spritz, which was refreshing and light, and then we were on our way. It's worth stopping in for a drink if you're nearby but I wouldn't go out of your way.

Bathtub Gin Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Bathtub Gin

Does this please allow smoking? I'm just looking for a cigar lounge but Seattle is so uncool and boring that there are little to no cigar bars?

Does not allow smoking, sorry!

Can I make a reservation through an app or Yelp or would a walk in near 6 be okay? Voicemail been full for 2 days

I just walked up and waited 15 mins to get in without reservations. It was around that time as well.

Is it LGTBQ+ aka Alphabet Mafia friendly? #ILoveSeattle

Is this place open right now? Any covid updates?

Yea! There's an outdoor patio :) my assumption though is they aren't open atm due to the terrible aqi

Is there a dress code?

Not at all. But the place is nice so you want to wear something appropriately, casual smart I would say

Is it 21+ or is 20 okay?

It is 21+. A gentleman sits right at the door checking IDs

Do I need to make a reservation or call in advance?

No, recommend that you show up earlier before 7 pm so that you don't have to wait outside

Needle and Thread - Perfectly crafted cocktails

Needle and Thread

Capitol Hill

As a self-appointed connoisseur of speakeasies (a title I awarded myself after extensive…read more"research") Needle and Thread sits comfortably at the top of my list. While reservations aren't technically required, let me save you some heartbreak, make one. They only open reservations six days in advance, and this place fills up faster than brunch spots when the sun comes out in Seattle. Totally worth the planning. The experience starts downstairs at Tavern Law restaurant, where you let the host know you're headed to Needle and Thread. From there, you're directed to a mysterious locked door next to a telephone. Yes, an actual phone. Pick it up, give your reservation name once someone answers, and bam! You're buzzed upstairs like you've just passed a very classy secret test. Once inside, you're greeted and escorted to your seat, and the magic really begins. There's no drink menu because why limit creativity? Instead, the staff plays cocktail therapist, asking about your favorite spirits, flavors, and moods. Based on your answers, they craft a completely custom drink tailored to your palate. Every cocktail we tried was spot-on. Balanced, intentional, and clearly made by people who treat mixology like an art form rather than a guessing game. Bonus points: You can request the coaster they took your order on, which lists the ingredients so you can attempt to recreate it at home (results may vary depending on your confidence and liquor cabinet.) Not to be overshadowed by the drinks, the Sockeye Salmon Crostini was a fantastic fresh, flavorful appetizer and the perfect companion to a night of bespoke cocktails. They have other heartier food as well, but we had dinner reservations elsewhere for the evening. Between the immersive entrance, outstanding service, thoughtful drinks, and authentic speakeasy atmosphere, this isn't just a bar, it's an experience. If you're in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, Needle and Thread is a must try.

Instagram : @yeapeats…read more I was excited to try Needle & Thread since it's often described as a speakeasy, but the "hidden" aspect didn't quite live up to expectations. Unlike other speakeasies that feel truly hidden, you actually just walk into Tavern Law, check in with the hostess, and let them know you have a reservation. They then guide you to a telephone where you repeat your reservation name before being let upstairs. It's a fun concept, but not especially secretive, and they're pretty strict about not letting you up early unless it's very empty. Once seated, we actually waited almost 20 minutes before being served with no acknowledgement. We ended up having to flag down the manager just to bring attention to our table, which was disappointing given the experience they're aiming for. The waitress asks a series of questions about your preferences--likes, dislikes, and flavor inspirations--so the bartenders can create custom cocktails for you. If you're knowledgeable about alcohol, this is probably a dream. If you're not (like me), it can feel a little intimidating, but our waitress was patient and did her best to guide us through it. The drinks themselves were excellent. Even the shots were customized, which was a nice touch. The vibe upstairs is chill and relatively quiet, making it a great place to relax and talk. Food is the same menu as downstairs at Tavern Law, so nothing new there. The only downside--and unfortunately a noticeable one--was an interaction with the female bartender (not our waitress). Based on the questions we were asked, my friend gave a mix of savory and sweet preferences, since we were told these were just inspirations. However, the female bartender came over sounding visibly annoyed and said, "So do you want savory or sweet? You're giving contradicting answers." The tone felt unnecessarily rude, especially since we were just following the process as it was explained to us. Overall, the drinks were great and the concept is unique, but between the delayed service and that negative interaction, it definitely put a damper on the experience.

The First Gentleman was attentive and we got our drinks and an appetizer timely. We ordered our second appetizer with our first server and thats where the service deteriorated. I could hear the table next to us ordered the exact same appetizer as we did 10-15 mins after we did and a new server who must had just clocked in brings them the order literally within 2-3 mins later and the male commented, "oh that was fast" and I thought to myself they got our order. Another 10-15 mins go by and I had to ask "do you know how long our order will take to which she seemed to get annoyed. It could have my energy because by that time I was annoyed. I'm not sure what happened to our original server but he must have gotten off. About 5-10 mins goes by and here it comes. That confirmed the table next to us got our order because of how long it took. They never apologized for their mistake. Doing all that time they never came back to see if we would like another drink. I had to flag someone down. The clincher was we got our bill and there was 22% service charge. That was on me because if I would have seen it I might not have gone. I'm not a fan of automatically charging a service charge. I'm a great tipper but it must be earned. By than I was really annoyed and thought to have a conversation with the manager but let it go. I would not go back. The craft cocktails are spendy but I had no problem with that because they're creative and they earned it by being creative. But the energy and the environment wasn't like the other speak easy bars I visited. It was boring and to top it off the service charge of 22% and the service that came with it sealed it for me. I started off with the 99 Problems ($28), which, unfortunately, I forgot to note what was in the drink. It was boozy, clever, inventive, and most importantly delicious. My second drink was the Imperium Old Fashioned ($24) made with Westland Whiskey "Roquette" Barrel, Clement Cask Strength Rhum, Old Delicious Apple Brandy, Pineapple, and Spice. It was an excellent, boozy, balanced update to the classic Old Fashioned. Although I went with drinks off their menu, I have no doubt that any of their skilled bar professionals could've crafted me a wonderful cocktail if I had simply requested a classic or something on the fly based on my choice of spirit and desired flavor profile. Cooling Water (4/5) The Cooling water was a nice drink as well. I would definitely say the flavors were a little light on this drink but the frozen lychee that was a cute garnish. Xa Lad (5/5) I thought the salad was really good with the dressing, the croutons were a little too crunchy on some of the parts. I would definitely order this again cause it was a good portion size. Nachos (5/5) The crab nachos were really good, the cheese sauce had some fish sauce infused into which gave it more of an asian flare. The way that real crab meat was incorporated was good as well. There was an assortment of veggies that tasted slightly pickled that made it a little refreshing. I think if they decided to do wonton chips, it would put it over the top but still very tasty overall.

This is a Speakeasy bar located on the upstairs of a regular pho and banh mi restaurant. Upon…read morewalking up, the staff asked us to use the tablet for queue despite no on waiting ahead. The space is small, with a main center bar area and few small tables around so I understand that it could just be crowd control. The menu had a lot of fun drinks and snacks, including pho in a cup, presented like an instant cup noodles ramen. We ended up getting a few things to try. Overall, enjoyed the creativeness of the drinks and vibe. Prices are a bit high, but we had a good time!
