What could improve... literally everything. They point you to the QR-menu and then you still have to ask about certain rotating items. The service is slow. Very slow. The drinks are fine. But with the higher prices and slower service, you can find better elsewhere. You wait to get a seat at the bar. If you don't have a reservation you can still sit. They will offer you to sit anywhere, but beware... if you skip a seat they may as you to move down 1/2 way through your drinks (happened twice when the bar wasn't even full). At this point, just direct people where to sit and don't let them choose! The ambiance and decor is confusing. A fun Rochambeau idea that' just didn't happen right. Such an interesting place! Small - only about 20 seats. My friends and I had reservations, but it was the middle of the afternoon on Sunday and a few people were able to walk in and be seated. To watch the cook do his thing here is amazing! He doesn't even really have a kitchen - he has a sink, a stove, and an oven. Right there in a kitchen smaller than my apartment's, he creates the most amazing food. The menu is small, only about 6-8 things. The craft cocktail menu is so swank I had to ask about the ingredients on almost every one. My friends and I shared a farmhouse salad with pickled strawberries and rhubarb, blistered asparagus, hush puppies, and scallop risotto. All were wonderful, but the star for me were the hush puppies, crisp on the outside and pillowy on the inside, served with an aioli. But no wait! The asparagus was so good, charred and served with pomegranate molasses. Oh, but the risotto was also fantastic - the scallops perfectly cooked and the risotto with just the right chew. This would be a great date night or apres opera place. I am looking forward to seeing what else this kitchen produces. read more

This was everything we had hoped for. The staff were friendly and attentive. Love sitting and being able to watch the chef work. It was overall a great experience with one exception; the chairs are dreadful. While I am sure that helps get people to move along, they are hard, no backs and sized for a small child. Even a small cushion would make it better. The food, that's why I would recommend this place. Everything we had was delicious, made to order (in front of us) and overall great. It's obvious the hush puppies are a favorite as they kept flying out. We ordered them. They were soft and creamy with a delicious sauce! I had the scallops, which were huge and while I almost didn't order them because they came on a bed of frisse, but this was excellent and I really enjoyed it. Others in the party ordered the mushrooms, carrots, and duck. All were very happy with their choices. Such a hip, swanky kind of place. We will definitely be back! read more

First time dining here and it was amazing. The drinks were excellent and it was clear the bartenders were skilled in their craft. Highlight was the food. We had four of the menu items and they did not disappoint. The chef is outstanding and every dish we had was something we would order over and over again. Truly a talented chef. It was near closing time but the owner was super accommodating and took the time to answer all our questions - mostly about the decor which was fun and eclectic! They were tasty salty delicious and went nicely with our beverages. Drinks were spot on and the specialty non-alcoholic drink my sister chose was delightfully citrus and herby in a good way. The two chef owners trade places at the stove and they have another waitress and a bartender. Four people run the restaurant. But the food, oh my goodness. We had a radicchio salad where the radicchio had been cooked like wilted lettuce, and then served with a Caesar sauce, pine nuts, and some other magical ingredients. And very ingenious, cocktails designed for Halloween. Trendy and expensive, but very much worth it. We had no reservation that showed up at 5 PM and had to finish by 6 PM. When i viewed their website for the booking information, it was quite intimidating at first as it listed what not to do or list of rules. The rules made sense and it's a great way to set the expectation, but it was just interesting. Anyhow, I have to say the drinks are perfect here. The bartender was friendly and kind to give us the seats at the bar as soon as we walked in. We wanted to eat here but there were only about 4 or 5 items in the menu and the choices were great. However we could not find what we wanted to eat. But I think the food here would be pretty tasty because we had the best salad to share and no entree, it was one of the best I ever had. Amazing fresh Buffalo mozzarella ball, nutty and they are using Mizuna as green leafs. So delicious. I will be back. read more

Drinks - they were good drinks! But the drink menu was pretty small and I was hoping to have a few more options. The one I had was a tad small and ice heavy for the cost (most are around $17) but it was very tasty. Service - they were slammed before the Blink-182 concert and there's not much they could do about that. They didn't stop making drinks the whole time we were there. Props to them! Ambiance - normally I'd guess it's a chill little place but it was loud and rowdy and warm with the pre-concert crowd and pride letting out across the street. It was very much a lively bar atmosphere, which was fine for pre-show, post-pride drinks, but made it a bit of a wait before we could sit. It was impossible to hear between the four of us though. I went with my husband for dinner and drinks before a comedy show at McCaw Hall. We had a reservation and I'm happy we did because it was packed and people were standing at the high tables and the bar was full. There were three employees working very hard to keep everyone's drink and plate full. The food was amazing. It's incredible the quality and quantity of food they can put out in that small kitchen. We sat down and immediately were told of our 90 min time limit, which generally isn't an issue besides how slow they were Mostly, It was disappointing when we asked the music to be turned down (due to a hearing disability) and that would not be changed in any significant way. We had an hour before a concert at McCaw Hall and stopped in here for a drink since it's so conveniently close. The owner greeted us, and despite being busy, he found us a spot at the bar as soon as he could. I loved the tall windows and plants hanging from above the bar. Despite it being a small space, they manage to get a good amount of seating packed in and the wrap around bar is great. The rotating craft cocktail menu had lots of delicious sounding drinks. I wasn't drinking that night, so they made me a fantastic mocktail after inquiring what flavors I usually go for. The husband enjoyed one of the daily specials, and we were very intrigued by the upscale food menu. Amazingly good food. Very limited menu but the flavors were perfection. Beautifully crafted cocktails with attention to the slightest flavors influences. Food rotation is ever changing and we sat next to a couple who come often and said they love it every time. Owners are very kind and helpful in selections. The only disappointment of the night was the quality of the steak, very tough for our medium rare preference. Maybe we should have ordered it to medium due to it being a more tough cut, possibly rendering more of the fat? Anyways, I'm still giving it a 5/5 because we had such good food and flavors and portions it didn't detract from our experience too much. This place charges a $5 per person, FULLY NON-REFUNDABLE reservation fee - meaning that even if your entire group shows up, you pay the fee and it is not deducted from your final bill. I understand charging a deposit that is refunded or deducted from the bill, but I have never heard of a restaurant that keeps this fee whether or not you show up. This was also not clear when I made the reservation (they claim that language was on the site, but I'm fairly certain it wasn't when I booked) and frankly, it feels ridiculous to have paid a $25 fee (5 people) on top of already overpriced food and drinks just to dine here. I got the Booby Trap because of the name and the elderflower note. It did not miss! A delicious sparkling wine cocktail. My friend also let me try her gin cocktail which tasted like aperol spritz but was saffron-infused gin and something else. There's usually a couple folks working, and they're doing a mixture of taking orders, bartending, and cooking. They have a pretty short menu, but it's definitely a step above in quality. They threw in some things we weren't expecting, but every dish really worked. We had crunchy roasted brussel sprouts--something we love--and added beets. It really took it to the next level. They had a delightful assortment of squash. And we finished the meal up with pork tenderloin that was cooked to PERFECTION. This honestly seems like a couple folks who love good food and good drinks got together and wanted to start their own place...so they did. I had hoped for a great local bar with good food; something like Bar Miriam. What we got is moderately friendly staff serving food that looks good on the menu, but the chef's execution fell short.: under cooked beet salad that I could hardly eat, black cod that was under-cooked with a chewy gelatinous texture, and a dish with fingerling potatoes that were raw and inedible.
