Flat Bread - We ordered the flat bread with spicy Caccioppo pork sausage, béchamel, Pernod fennel, mozzarella, Grana Padano, and garlic. The crust was on the thicker side and packed with rich garlic flavor. The center of the flat bread was more flavorful than the edges. Crispy Karaage Chicken Wings - The karaage seasoning comes as a powder rub. It wasn't my favorite because it didn't taste much like traditional karaage. It's also a bit messy to eat, so be careful not to get the powder on your clothes. Interestingly, the flavor reminded me of Maruchan shrimp flavored instant noodles. On the plus side, the portion size was generous and offered good value for an appetizer. Gambas al Ajillo - This dish features spicy garlic shrimp and chicken chorizo. The shrimp was fresh and well cooked, though it wasn't particularly spicy. The chorizo brought more heat and had excellent flavor. I highly recommend ordering this alongside the flat bread. We used the gambas garlic oil/ sauce from this dish as a dipping sauce for the bread, which added a delicious extra kick. Espresso Martini - They make their espresso martini using drip coffee, and surprisingly, it works really well. This was my first time having one made this way, and I enjoyed it. Service & Overall Experience - The service was excellent. Our server checked in on us regularly without being intrusive and gave us plenty of space to enjoy our meal. Not as good as previous visits. I saw only one person taking orders, and this is not a small place. The server was very nice. But the only time we saw him was when we tracked him down to order or request our check. The blasted broccoli used to be my favorite. They've changed it and it's not as good. Other of our favorites were missing from the menu entirely. (Oh where did you go, spicy shrimp with shells?) We did like the karaage chicken wings. Liked them a lot. I'd say to be sure and order them. The ravioli and mushrooms would have been nice, but was so overly drenched in brown butter it was not pleasant. Who knew there could be too much brown butter? This dish would benefit by a bit of acid - maybe a balsamic drizzle? The best part of the tandoori style chicken by far were the interesting garnishes along with the tzatziki. Decent gastropub with a small happy hour menu. I went on a Wednesday and it was not busy at all, so I was able to choose any seat I wanted. Fairly cozy restaurant with a back portion for events or more seating during busier meals. We tried the following - Karaage wings - quite umami, a hint of curry and spices, does not really look like chicken wings - Blasted broccoli - delicious with the lemon aioli on the side. A little overcooked but a nice take on the broccolini that is usually prepared in this manner - Duck breast - I liked the meat itself - very flavorful, but I didn't like the reduction and the sage leaves did not add much flavor - Pork belly - very hearty. The chimichurri kind of clashes with the flavor a bit but cuts down the heavy fat. Potato texture was a bit interesting - Sumac hummus and cucumbers - a healthy option off happy hour. Nice that it was served with flatbread - Cracked olive salad - a bit pickly, I personally do not like olives in this manner but my friend enjoyed it - Citrus Paradisi - quite a strong cocktail, but not quite well-balanced. Wonderful location in Belltown, and especially beautiful for dining in the spring/summer with the big windows and open doors. There is something for everyone on the menu, and I particularly appreciate the healthy and wholesome options and dietary restrictions sections in the back for my friends. They have a great N/A cocktail selection/spirits too. We had a mistake in one of our orders and the waiter comped it too, which I felt was a sign of really great service and caring about the guests here too. If you're in the area and looking for nice ambiance but relaxed atmosphere in a light, airy setting - definitely give this a try! read more

I wish I can remember all the names of the dishes I tried tonight. I think we pretty much tried almost everything on the menu. Please see attached photos and my best attempt at the names in the description. I have been to the Bellevue location before but it was late at night and me and my buddies were just there to grab a couple of drinks. Tonight at their Seattle location, my visit was for a completely different occasion. We were a group of 12 or so for a work event. My boss' EA ordered a set menu for us starting from the appetizers to desserts. The service was not very good but not bad either. This is consistent to their Bellevue location. The interior decor looked a bit not finished but it did not take much away from the experience. They could use a bit more of something (anything) on the wall though... The food overall was pretty good. None of the dishes were amazing but none of them were bad either. They offer everything from vegan to gluten-free as well as non-alcolic cocktails, wine, and beer. We ordered 2 or 3 of everything you see pictured below. I think we definitely over-ordered. We got to try so many dishes and we all left full. As stated, I consider this venuw a "safe choice" for a group since nothing on the menu is bad and it covers all food restrictions and allergies. My favorites from tonight were the shrimp dish and the short ribs. But I have had better elsewhere. I thought the prices were good for what we got (comparatively) and location is great. Was really expecting a lot from this place and had an overall okay experience. Service was great and staff were friendly. Also, the location was in the heart of downtown and perfect for an urban vibe. The food was close to 4-5 stars but each dish had some major misses. First up is the crispy karaage chicken wings. Great flavor but just a slightly sogginess on the batter. Same with the cauliflower fritters. Sauce was amazing but the coating on the cauliflower was undercooked. Maybe an off night for the person on the fryer. The bacon lemon scallops are pretty good, just very small. For the main I tried the malbec beef shank. Great presentation with the bone in and the portion size was enough for two. I was so disappointed that this was over seasoned to the point that the saltiness really made it hard to finish. The fried sage on top of the ravioli was the star of the show while it was really simple.It was absolutely delicious.And we both picked out the sage leaves. The dates on the the hallumi were just right, and my companion picked those out We probably could abused the whole plate more of dates. I love going out with this particular companion, she and I are both big foodies and really like the experience of gastro pubs. She said the fries on the moore fruit were perfectly cooked and crispy, and you can really tell how good a restaurant is by the quality of something so simple. Black bottle is dark and intimate and we got a corner table.So that we could quietly talk and enjoy one another's company. It's a perfect place for a quiet dinner for two or a big party. We arrived on time for our reservation but waited nearly 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. We eventually had to approach a server ourselves, and the table we were shown to wasn't even set or ready. Service throughout the evening was slow and disorganized. Drinks took a long time, and my cocktail arrived after our entrée, and it wasn't what I ordered. When I sent it back, the server made an unnecessary and unprofessional joke comparing me to his mother for sending drinks back. Food was uneven: the burrata salad was overdressed, and while the lamb mezze plate had good flavors, the meatballs were very dry and the presentation sloppy. Wine service was also incomplete, with only one glass brought until we asked. We had planned to order more food but decided to get the check and leave instead. Overall, a very disappointing experience, and unfortunately not a place we plan to return to. read more

We usually stop by for happy hour for a nice cocktail at the bar and never tried the food since it seemed a little out of reach for our budget, but we thought wth we'll send for my b day. Turns out the food has some pretty good options for many diff price ranges. We ended up getting a flat bread and pork belly plate. Both were so magnificently delicious, and I think very reasonably priced for their taste and beautiful display. Always love the cozy intimate candlelit vibe in here. Been on my list of places to visit for a while. It didn't completely disappoint. But dang, sort of a let down. Came with a colleague. Came on a Wednesday night around 7pm. We were in the back room and had it basically too ourselves. It was low lighting in the back and intimate. Tables weren't too close together so I imagine you could have private conversations. The menu was complex. Seemed like every option was going to be great. We ordered the delicata squash & hazelnut ravioli ($19), smoked tea-brined duck breast with port cranberries ($27), and kefte lamb meatballs mezze plate ($23). The ravioli was superb. I throughly enjoyed that plate. Everything else fell flat for me. It was good. But it just wasn't spectacular or stood out for me. The duck was a little dry but I love duck, so I enjoyed it anyways. The plates were a little bigger than Tapas size. I washed that down with a Slow Magic cocktail which I'd give 4 stars out of 5. It'd be hard to find better cocktails in the area and for the price. It's about 12 dollars per cocktail. It's in Belltown, and parking was pretty tough. So be prepared to be frustrated and ultimately walk a bit. The service was great. Part of the reason why it got a 4 star review. Was able to order in Spanish with my waiter. Check easily came out to $100+. Food and drink might be a 3.5 but the service and ambiance solidifies this place as a 4 star. read more

To start of the food is great, service sometimes great, sometimes not so great. My issue is the seating area is only accessible for people in wheelchairs if no one else is there, when it's packed there's not a clear route to the bathroom unless you interrupt people's meal and have them sit up, but then the bathroom is completely not ADA compliant for wheelchairs, a bar around toilet doesn't make it so. Seattle.gov is my next stop for my review. If you're in a wheelchair, order take-out if you're interested until the owner actually does something to make it welcoming to everybody. read more

Food - the cocktails here were better than any of the bars we went to by far. They were super fresh, well-made, and the portion sizes were huge! (They give you a shaker with almost 1.5x the cocktail in addition to the cocktail itself). I loved the Basil Zingiber and my partner had the Major Danger, and I'd absolutely come back just for the cocktails. The food was excellent too. The cauliflower fritters were great, the Brie flatbread was amazing, and my partner liked the prosciutto too. The Gruyère and emmentaler beet wedges were good, but honestly the beet to cheese ration was disappointing. It was mostly beets, which I like, but you couldn't really taste the cheese. Not a bad choice for dinner because of the generous portions, though I think I'd prefer to do drinks and snacks. Service - 5/5 for the service. The server was super attentive and helpful and they checked in on us regularly without hovering or bothering. Ambiance - it was kind of a cool vibe with semi-rustic and then modern touches in the decor. Somewhat minimal. The lighting threw my partner off a bit because the light bulbs are a really bright but the rest of the space is more dark, which he found disorienting. Great spot for happy hour, or meeting up for drinks! We had a group of 5 and were seated right away. At 5:30, there weren't many people there. So drinks and food came quickly. Later into the night it started to fill up! I really enjoyed my sweater weather cocktail. Plenty of things to like about this place. The atmosphere, for one. It feels open yet intimate - even though we came on a busy night, it wasn't too loud to have a conversation. I like the modern furniture and clean decor as well. Service was a good mix of being attentive yet hands off - we were much more leisurely than we would usually be as we were waiting for a show at another venue, but we didn't feel rushed at all. Food came very quickly as did the drinks. About that - the reason this review is three stars (really; probably 3.5) is that we didn't feel the food really worked together very well. The halloumi dish, for example, seemed like two different dishes - the dates and halloumi on top of an onion and pepper and mushroom mix that felt like something that should go on a Philly cheesesteak. Neither component was bad but they didn't make sense together. We also had the chicken and cherry and fontina flat bread, which was good flavor wise but the flat bread was too thick and hard to really take easy bites. The cocktails, on the other hand, were fun and creative - I especially appreciated that not every cocktail was a whiskey base like many craft cocktail bars seem to do. Wandered in here around 6pm on a Saturday. Very cute ambience, they played great music, and it was nice and quiet! Managed to feel pretty intimate without feeling stuffy at all. The service was fantastic, our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Food came out super-fast- we got three dishes that did not all come out at once, but our first dish was out within 10 minutes of ordering. We ordered: baby gems salad with crispy shaved artichoke hearts; squeaky halloumi cheese sautéed; and chole bhature eggplant potato chickpeas hot serrano. That last dish was a huge standout! Keeping our waters full and a general eye out for what our table needed. Black bottle is a tapas style restaurant with items ranging from flatbreads to short ribs. I was able to taste 8 things off the menu due to the size of our group and highly recommend the pear gorgonzola flat bread, blistered shishito peppers, and short ribs. The lemon ricotta cake and bread pudding were also winners. I'd recommend this restaurant for large or small groups alike. They have enough on their menu to satisfy a diverse mix of tastes and also highlight what items are gluten, nut, and dairy free. read more

Black Bottle was my favorite bar in Belltown before Covid caused the curtain to drop on my social existence. It will never be completely raised, but that curtain is about 1/3 the way up, and hopefully, a show of some kind will go on once again. The Black Bottle was shuttered during the entire quarantine, looking forlorn, a replica of past history. It seemed abandoned, something discovered by an archeological dig, a monument to the good times people once had. My conjecture was the Black Bottle was a permanent victim of the pandemic and would never open. However, shortly after June 30th, 2021, Washington's new Independence Day, The Black Bottle rose from the dead like it was just frozen in time. It's just like I remembered it. The food is great, the drinks masterfully made, and the staff accepting of all people. This isn't just political correctness at the Black Bottle. It may be the most eclectic bar in Belltown, and it is so refreshing to be surrounded by a different races, multiple genders, with a range of age groups. The Black Bottle was busy and bopping tonight, adding excitement to this part of 1st Avenue. My bar is back. read more

As many of you know, after reading my reviews, I have a "type" of restaurant I like and I rarely step outside that proverbial box. This one is exactly outside of my box...and I LOVED it! The Black Bottle serves dishes that are intended to be shared. They are served when ready "for the table". I found this experience to be fun and relaxing. I was excited to see which dish would arrive next. The service was exemplary. Jordan was our server and we had Stu behind the bar making some incredible cocktails. We had a group of 8 or 10 people and we ordered a little bit of everything. I am not an adventurous eater (my wife would emphasize that strongly). I tend to shy away from things I have never tried before. Each dish here looked and smelled so delicious, I just shelved that idea for the evening. I found the ambiance relaxing and comfortable. The menu had a great selection and so did the bar. I found this to be a really enjoyable experience and would HIGHLY recommend a visit when in Seattle. Jordan and Stu, I am looking forward to my next visit. Please keep some Asian fried chicken and Melbec Demi-glazed beef short ribs ready for me! I will be back before you know it! **vegetarian review** real rating 2.5 I have been going to black bottle for a long time for some of their delicious options like the kolkata cauliflower etc. However this time around (Oct 2021) I was very disappointed by both food and drink options. To start of the food options no longer had the cauliflower. The waiter said one of the popular vegetarian options is now the artichoke salad. I got that and I was so disappointed. Its basically a huge cabbage with some toppings of artichoke (very little to actually call it a star of the salad). The salad was extremely basic and definitely not worth the money. My friend got the shrimp - which called out 7 shrimps. And no one can accuse the place for false advertising there since it was literary 7 shrimps and nothing else. The drinks also didnt taste that good - we got the basil gin cocktail and the pumpkin king. While the basil gin was still fine - very strong on basil which I didnt mind, but the pumpkin king was really not that good. Random note: the table next to us ordered a bunch of things and their waiter weirdly called out we are known for our small portions. It just really felt like saying we are known for being overpriced ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Our waiter was nice and very apologetic about the changed menu, and hence I am keeping the review at 3 stars.
