But honestly, between the views, atmosphere, and overall experience, it was still a great Friday night out! As a guest of the hotel, service was horrible and the food was mediocre. I was waiting to be served for over 15 minutes and they forgot about my tea. I came here for breakfast because of the credit from the travel charges automatically applied to my hotel booking. I can see why you get $25 credit because everything was so expensive and they add 20% gratuity fee automatically to the bill. They charged $5usd for a beverage (coffee or tea) which was ridiculous. The Fog Room is located inside of the Charter Hotel in downtown Seattle. I have heard of this place in the past, but didn't realize it was in this hotel! My boss happened to be staying here while on business in town, so we decided to meet up here. The bar itself is gorgeous! The outdoor spaces are phenomenal as well. My partner and I visited The Fog Room on two separate occasions to check out the rooftop view. While the view is nice and the location is convenient if you are staying at the hotel, the actual experience was disappointing both times. The service is absolutely slow, and the environment is not relaxing at all. It has a loud, chaotic bar vibe. Even sitting outside, it was so loud that I could barely hear my partner speak. During our first visit, the server told us our table was only available until a certain time and tols us we have to move. It made no sense why they made us move when they are a business getting paid. To make it worse, I noticed absolutely nobody sat at that table after we left it. Completely pointless and frustrating. We gave it another shot later that evening because my partner wanted a beer. Since I do not drink alcohol, I was glad they could prepare spirit free beverages.. but my drink was mediocre and quite pricey, and I was told no coffee was available. We didn't want a full meal but decided to try some dessert, only to be told they hadn't had dessert available for two days. I guess if you don't want to leave the hotel and don't mind noise and super slow service, this place is for you. They have an extensive list of alcoholic options if you're into that. The service was terrible from the beginning the staff had an attitude about seating our group and were rude and unwelcoming. It took almost an hour just to order drinks and another 45 minutes for a plate. When we were ready to leave, we asked multiple times to pay and were told by the server "you can wait!". When we asked to split the bill, they told us they could only split it two ways and that we could "figure it out ourselves." Very unprofessional. WIth the hostess stand upon your entry, you are able to select from a few different seatings areas. You can take a seat at the main bar which is aesthetically pleasing, outdoor seating on their patio, cocktail tables, or their lounge area. I went on a night where they had a live dj on a Saturday night and opted for a table right outside. While I was outside waiting for my first drink, I couldn't help but admire the full wraparound view of downtown Seattle. Dining at The Fog Room was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in Seattle. The entire experience felt incredibly transactional. Our server, Ariel, seemed completely uninterested in providing genuine hospitality or building any rapport with me or my guest. In fine dining, service should make guests feel welcomed--not like they're just another table to turn over. The food was even worse. The oysters were absolutely disgusting. They arrived topped with spinach, which wasn't disclosed on the menu, completely overpowering the oysters. I'd honestly rate them a 1/10. The shrimp were severely overcooked, rubbery, and lacked any care in preparation. The cocktails were also a joke. For a venue that markets itself as an upscale rooftop lounge, the drinks were uninspired, poorly executed, and nowhere near worth the price. We spent over $250, and not a single part of the experience justified that cost. As someone who works in fine dining, I understand what quality service and well-executed food and drinks should look like. This wasn't it. To make matters worse, the restaurant automatically added a 19% gratuity to the bill. While automatic gratuity has its place, it's difficult to justify when the service is so inattentive and the overall experience is this poor. Gratuity should reflect the level of hospitality provided, and unfortunately, this experience fell far short. I left feeling like I paid luxury prices for mediocre food, forgettable cocktails, and service that lacked even the basics of hospitality. There are far better places in Seattle to spend your money. read more

The oysters were so fresh and flavorful, and I received more than six since they were on the smaller size. For dessert, I had the option of either the carrot cake or Ube cheesecake. The server gave us the bill and only mentioned that the itemized costs were on the second receipt. We noticed the service charge already assessed but server never mentioned this - that should be mentioned to customers. Instead, the bill has another section that says 'tip' before you total out. I loved our time here. It's not the prettiest view possible since the Emerald Condos, the Viktoria Apts, and a bunch of other apartments obstruct some of the water views. Still, there is a sliver of Elliott Bay and the surrounding downtown scene, you get to see from pretty much any angle throughout this rooftop area. There are two areas: the outside patio (a bit on the louder side) and the inside "fog room," which is quieter and warmer. The service was really good overall, and our server was amazing! At first, the service was spotty since we had to wait a few moments to sit down somewhere, but it was so good overall. We were constantly being checked on to see if we needed anything, and the server was kind enough to provide and attempt to explain the huuuuge Mezcal list to one of my friends, who is very picky about his Mezcal. Our whole group was obsessed with the holiday shooter option, which was so good highly recommend, they do great drinks here overall. We also enjoyed a round of oysters, which my friends loved, especially since we get fresh fresh oysters out here compared to LA. Overall, the vibe was louder and more fun outside, but we noticed a lot of the solo folks were inside at the bar, and the bigger, louder parties were outside, with dates happening and sprinkled throughout.
