Baba Yaga grabbed our attention as we walked down the street to another location. Good music and lively sounds of fun in the middle of a Friday afternoon is where we wanted to be, so we popped in. We had some deliciously strong tequila espresso martinis, yapped, and just enjoyed the good mood of this place. They seem to be fairly busy, with half the tables taken up and a crowd regularly cycling in and out. Definitely wish I had had a later evening to try it out.

Size matters. Big and wet is how we like em' and Baba Yaga gets it! Come for the lime, stay for the vibes.

Dropped in to Baba Yaga in Pioneer Square one night to see Moon Panda and Night Heron. The music venue is in the basement. There's an upstairs seating area with couches, a television, and a game of Jenga, which I made use of while waiting for the show to start. I want you to know dear reader that it was my first time to play Jenga, at age 46, and while I assumed you laid down a wood plank, wait for your opponents to do the same until you have a tower, that is NOT how you play Jenga. That was endearing to my date though, who laughed and acted like I was very cute for doing so. I did enjoy a Maiz Macabre cocktail while I was waiting, and it was spectacular, and my bartenders were perfect-great service. In the end, Moon Panda canceled, but the opener, Night Heron out of Portland, stole the show and entertained us all. Baba Yaga will be on my list of places to return for a great spot to chill, see shows, and have a good cocktail or beer.

A solidly 4.5 star experience. The burritos were really good and honestly I was impressed. Maybe I did not expect something this good from a night club/dive bar but that's what I got - a damn good burrito. The ambiance was kinda fun - dive bar but in the day time/night club but with the lights on. The service was solid - you go to the counter to order and then they bring it out to you. The drinks were the only thing that didn't impress me really. The menu was interesting but mine was not really well mixed or had separated by the time I got it and my partner felt his was mid in flavor. That said, 5 stars for having a ridiculously good burrito for a night club and made my day.

I was pleasantly surprised by Baba Yaga! I was expecting something akin to The Crocodile when I heard there was a place to hang apart from the concert area, but rather what you walk into feels like a legit restaurant. The upstairs restaurant and bar is quite spacious, has a cool style, a lot of seating. They serve food, which are variations on simple Mexican food (tacos, quesadillas, burritos) with several meat choices, they have a few house specialty cocktails listed but it seems like they could make any drink. The service was perfunctory, like attentive, nice, and nonchalant. I ordered a quesadilla with al pastor. I had this funny association with the meat, thinking it reminded me just a bit of manwich, but in a really satisfying way. It was pretty stuffed and a lot of food. The concert space is downstairs and it looks pretty cool down there. There is a fairly large space for merch, there's a bar, and then the concert area is a little small. The whole space reminded me a bit of the Sunset Tavern (if the bar was also in the concert area). Despite that, the show I went to felt fairly packed, but I didn't feel squished by any means, and had a good spot along a counter for drinks that I could lean on. The sound was super loud, but I tend to wear earplugs at concerts these days so it was fine. There was this really cool feature down there too, which was a large glowing tree sprawling the wall up onto the ceiling. Normal issues of the city apply here. I would never try to park down here on the weekend, so I bussed it there and walked and scooted home. I also know that it's a part of the city that feels a bit unsafe to some people. I didn't notice anything to disconcerting but I know we all have our different experiences and comfort levels. Overall, a very fun space to see a show and hang before. If someone you like is playing here, you should definitely check it out!

Great service and delicious Margaritas! We did step up to the Reposado tequila which made them extra tasty and a bit more $$, but definitely worth it! The tacos were okay but the mullitas (sp?) were delicious! Stopped in after a Mariners afternoon game and easily beat the crowd. Short walk back to the stadium to retrieve the car from the parking garage. Good alternative to the stadium food and crowd. Enjoy!

I've been to Baba Yaga a few times and I'm consistently impressed! Very cool space, cool moody lighting, and nice staff. Lots of different spaces to hang out, soft seating to chill and tables/bar space to eat at. Breakfast burritos are fabulous, so stop in in the morning if you have the chance too. Loved that they let my dog pop in with me for a little bit! Will always pop back in when I'm in Seattle!

Food was good, but a little bland. The server was present and helpful. And the atmosphere was charming. It was a little expensive for a burrito with no sides, and an NA beer. But it was a pretty great experience.

She had wanted to visit for a long time after hearing so many good things about it, so this was the perfect opportunity. The café itself is bright, modern, and absolutely adorable. It has a cozy, inviting atmosphere that makes it a great place to relax over dessert with family or friends. The menu is a dream for matcha and hojicha lovers. They offer an impressive variety of parfaits, floats, frappes, and lattes, with optional additions like mochi and red beans. It took us a while to decide because everything looked tempting. My daughter and I shared the Hojicha Mochi Parfait, while my son ordered the Hojicha Float with mochi. The parfait had a rich, authentic hojicha flavor and was generously layered with chewy mochi, crunchy cereal flakes, and creamy soft serve, giving it a wonderful mix of textures. The float was equally enjoyable, with a bold roasted hojicha flavor that wasn't overly sweet, and the mochi was a fun addition. The quality of the desserts was excellent, and while the prices are on the higher side, they reflect the quality of the ingredients and presentation. If you're a fan of matcha or hojicha, this is definitely a place worth visiting.

Key Points: - Iconic khachapuri "bread boats"…read more- minor drawback: limited coffee customization options and only forks available The Fam and I stopped by Skalka for some breakfast/brunch before perusing the rest of Seattle during my birthday week. I saw it on a few YouTube food influencer videos and was really impressed by what I saw. The their staple is their Georgian khachapuri. They're the iconic bread "boats" filled with cheese, butter, egg, and whatever comes along the variety you ordered. TBH, I actually thought they looked like little volcanoes, which is something I figured The Little One would enjoy. What we ordered: - Stroganoff: one of the popular items listed on the yelp page. The beef was rich, succulent and comforting, with a creamy, savory filling. The pickles added a bit of bright, tangy contrast to balance the richness. - Adjaruli, the classic version with cheese, butter, and egg. To me, this seemed like the plainest version, but I figured The little One would be more likely eat this because she hates anything that resembles a sauce or toppings. Both dishes were fantastic. The bread boat sort of reminded me of a pizza crust: crispy on the outside, soft and chewy inside, and perfect for tearing off and dipping into the cheesy center. The Little one did especially like the crust since she's a big pizza-crust fan. Surprisingly, getting her to eat the cheese and egg was tougher, as she usually likes those. I guess that's just being a kid? Inconsistent fluctuations of opinions and likings? The Mrs. and I happily finished everything she left behind. The restaurant itself is a small, casual spot with self-service kiosks for ordering and open seating. Nothing fancy, but it's efficient. We also appreciated that they had high chairs available, making it easy to visit with a child. We did see other families with kids there too. My only gripes: - once you've submitted your kiosk order, making changes isn't really possible. The staff is so busy going in and out of the kitchen, that you really don't have any opportunity to flag them down. We actually wanted to make one minor change to our order, but by the time I managed to talk to someone about it, she informed me that the order was already being made. - If you order coffee, you need to decide on cream, half-and-half, and sugar ahead of time, seemingly preset amounts. It's entirely prepared in the kitchen, not self serve, and you can't exactly customize to your liking. - Only forks were available. No spoons, no knives. Knives would have been helpful for cutting through the thicker bread crust. Those are very minor complaints, though. The food was excellent, the concept is unique, and the meal was memorable. Won't dock any points off there.

It wasn't necessarily anyone's fault, but if you order with a person this doesn't happen. Toilet is broken in restroom. But the FOOD! Was amazing. They serve only one type of dish, which is like a bread boat with cheese inside and or other filling. I got the one with spinach and cheese - it is enough for 2 ppl but I finished it on my own as a very hungry pregnant lady. We also got 2 more to go - one with beans and bacon (Lobiani) and the other with beef stroganoff. Both were delicious, although the beans & bacon one has a bit of spice. I would 100% recommend eating in person though, because everything is perfect and melty when it's fresh.
