There was a little festival going on after the World Cup final and we stumbled in here and aren't we lucky!!! The vibes were so fun, Latin music & dancing!! We couldn't help but stay and have fun! We ordered nachos and a burrito and they were both sooooo delicious!! The food came fast too which is always a plus in a bar! The burrito was the perfect size to split- salsas were perfect! I was shocked at how big the nachos were (tray was deep not wide)!! I loved that they weren't soggy and had a good amount of everything to eat with the chips! Baba Yaga is a very nice bar in Pioneer Square. We went in for drinks before a Sounders game. The bar is very comfortable. There did not seem to be table service, so I went to the bar. My wife had a beer and I had something called a Petal and Roof with honeysuckle-infused bourbon. This was really tasty, just the perfect cocktail. Baba Yaga grabbed our attention as we walked down the street to another location. Good music and lively sounds of fun in the middle of a Friday afternoon is where we wanted to be, so we popped in. We had some deliciously strong tequila espresso martinis, yapped, and just enjoyed the good mood of this place. Dropped in to Baba Yaga in Pioneer Square one night to see Moon Panda and Night Heron. The music venue is in the basement. There's an upstairs seating area with couches, a television, and a game of Jenga, which I made use of while waiting for the show to start. I want you to know dear reader that it was my first time to play Jenga, at age 46, and while I assumed you laid down a wood plank, wait for your opponents to do the same until you have a tower, that is NOT how you play Jenga. That was endearing to my date though, who laughed and acted like I was very cute for doing so. I did enjoy a Maiz Macabre cocktail while I was waiting, and it was spectacular, and my bartenders were perfect-great service. In the end, Moon Panda canceled, but the opener, Night Heron out of Portland, stole the show and entertained us all. Baba Yaga will be on my list of places to return for a great spot to chill, see shows, and have a good cocktail or beer. read more

A solidly 4.5 star experience. The burritos were really good and honestly I was impressed. Maybe I did not expect something this good from a night club/dive bar but that's what I got - a damn good burrito. The ambiance was kinda fun - dive bar but in the day time/night club but with the lights on. The service was solid - you go to the counter to order and then they bring it out to you. The drinks were the only thing that didn't impress me really. The menu was interesting but mine was not really well mixed or had separated by the time I got it and my partner felt his was mid in flavor. That said, 5 stars for having a ridiculously good burrito for a night club and made my day. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by Baba Yaga! I was expecting something akin to The Crocodile when I heard there was a place to hang apart from the concert area, but rather what you walk into feels like a legit restaurant. The upstairs restaurant and bar is quite spacious, has a cool style, a lot of seating. They serve food, which are variations on simple Mexican food (tacos, quesadillas, burritos) with several meat choices, they have a few house specialty cocktails listed but it seems like they could make any drink. The service was perfunctory, like attentive, nice, and nonchalant. I ordered a quesadilla with al pastor. I had this funny association with the meat, thinking it reminded me just a bit of manwich, but in a really satisfying way. It was pretty stuffed and a lot of food. The concert space is downstairs and it looks pretty cool down there. There is a fairly large space for merch, there's a bar, and then the concert area is a little small. The whole space reminded me a bit of the Sunset Tavern (if the bar was also in the concert area). Despite that, the show I went to felt fairly packed, but I didn't feel squished by any means, and had a good spot along a counter for drinks that I could lean on. The sound was super loud, but I tend to wear earplugs at concerts these days so it was fine. There was this really cool feature down there too, which was a large glowing tree sprawling the wall up onto the ceiling. Normal issues of the city apply here. I would never try to park down here on the weekend, so I bussed it there and walked and scooted home. I also know that it's a part of the city that feels a bit unsafe to some people. I didn't notice anything to disconcerting but I know we all have our different experiences and comfort levels. Overall, a very fun space to see a show and hang before. Located on the corner of occidental, we passed by this place a couple of times but just thought it was a bar / night club type of deal! It wasn't until I was looking for breakfast that I realized they also serve breakfast, coffee & other foods too! It was pretty empty on a Sunday morning, so we were able to sit ourselves anywhere. Water is self serve in the corner. We ordered a chorizo breakfast burrito & a carne asada breakfast torta. The breakfast burrito & breakfast torta were $15 each, bringing our total to about $35 before tip. They come with a side of sour cream + choice of salsa (we got the verde and mango habanero, which was nice and sweet! not too spicy at all & mixed with the sour cream was actually so good). The torta comes with meat, guac + pico all wrapped in a layer of crispy melted cheese (which, imo was a little much b/c I don't particularly like when my cheese comes like that), and was actually so tasty and super worth it for the price b/c it was actually so large?? I definitely left feeling super stuffed. (+ When it arrived, the girl working literally said "good luck b/c this thing is huge". ) The chorizo burrito was drippingly oily but was also very good too! Located in Pioneer Square, I would say stick to a simple drink and go elsewhere for food. I went here with a friend for a breakfast burrito because the pictures looked good, but flavoring wise it didn't make the cut. It's a bit too simple tasting for the price, but if you are nearby and need a bit before heading out, it's right there. Service was good, no complaints. They were friendly and got our order out as soon as possible. When you walk into the place, it feels like a bar because well, it is a bar. I'd be willing to try it again if I'm in the area, but other than that I think you could find something better around there for breakfast. read more

Great service and delicious Margaritas! We did step up to the Reposado tequila which made them extra tasty and a bit more $$, but definitely worth it! The tacos were okay but the mullitas (sp?) were delicious! Stopped in after a Mariners afternoon game and easily beat the crowd. Went for a concert tonight. Had decent conversation with the young bartender inside and outside. After my second drink I was told to leave it at the door to go vape outside. When I come back in, my drink is no longer where I left it. I figure ok, they threw it out because I took too long, no big deal. I go watch the show and leave to vape again, try to come back in and told I'm not allowed in and I have to leave. I'm confused because I had TWO DRINKS. I ask to please speak to the manager because I paid for a show that I would like to see. "Manager" comes up and says ok you can come in. I get my water and as I'm heading down to the show I raise my water in a joking way to show I'm drinking water and the male checking tickets ("manager") tells me I'm on my last chance and to cool it down. Later I'm in the bathroom complaining to the ladies how this place sucks and they tried to cut me off after two drinks and the green haired bartender was in the bathroom and told me a story about how when I went outside and came back in I blew past her and didn't grab my drink, and that was why I was cut off and my drink got thrown out. That DID NOT HAPPEN. I'm not sure if she had me confused with someone else or what but she was confident that I was extremely intoxicated after two weak drinks. She told me I walked past her tipping over and didn't grab my drink. I only ever walked past the black male at the door. Green haired bartender was not working the door. She said she got complaints from me from other people too. From who? I had TWO DRINKS. They paid NO ATTENTION to the girls that kept trying to form a mosh pit at the BELMONT CONCERT. These girls were heavily intoxicated or on drugs from the time the opener started to the end of the show and kept shoving everyone. It was NOT that kind of show, and THAT is ok? Idk what's up with this place. This place BLOWS. Then I try to leave with a water and the black male tells me I can't take my WATER outside. After telling me I'm soooooo intoxicated that I have to leave he also tells me I can't leave with water? Wtf? read more

We ordered taco Tuesday tacos - they were so greasy that when you took a bit me of them they just oozed grease and they were so bland. Just all together not good. Chips and salsa - chips tasted store bought and the salsa was weird - sweet and hot like an enchilada sauce almost. Margarita fell into the bland category as well.
