My experience at Deep Dive was unfortunately overshadowed by the service. I'll start with the positives because they're deserved. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful. The space is elegant, unique, and lives up to the photos. I also want to recognize the manager, who was polite, professional, and kindly explained that reservations were required. I completely understand and respect that policy. Unfortunately, my interaction with the bartender before speaking with the manager was the complete opposite. As I tried to get her attention, I felt like she repeatedly looked at me with annoyance and made me feel unwelcome. Rather than simply explaining the reservation policy herself, she went to get the manager instead. She had a problem with Hispanics. She refused to engaged at all. The way I was treated left me feeling uncomfortable and embarrassed, especially as someone who was genuinely excited to visit. A beautiful venue can only go so far when the hospitality doesn't match. I would have happily accepted that reservations were required if I had simply been treated with basic kindness and respect from the start. I truly hope this was an isolated incident because the location itself is stunning, and the manager handled the situation professionally. For one, the bar service was mediocre for my $26 cocktail. I get more conversation from the bartenders at the Red Onion.... And because they bartender wasn't paying attention, he forgot to put our food order in....probably didn't need it anyway, I need to diet. And then we get the check and they automatically add 22%...if you are a quality establishment offering exceptional customer service, you don't need to tell me what to tip...guess you are not. And they they have the nerve to ask me if I want to tip another 18%, 20%, or 25% when I sign the check on their Toast device... I'll go out for a quality cocktail experience at Needle & Thread, The Doctor's Office, or maybe the Red Onion, lol. But I won't be coming back here ever again. read more

What a cool bar under the Amazon spheres! It has a super cool entrance and ramp that leads you down to the bar. Luckily we came at a slow time and got some time to chat with our bartender Trevor. He made me something that was off menu and delicious! It was a floral gin with some egg white and burnt sage on top. The Trevor special was very awesome and he was a very hospitable bartender. We ordered another drink that contained duck fat and it tasted quite umami like and sarsaparilla-like. The interior is decorated really nicely and has a cool vibe with assorted taxidermy. Deep Dive is my favorite cocktail bar in Seattle. The decor is incredible: Very speakeasy vibes, and every detail feels thoughtful and elevated. The whole space has this intimate, luxurious atmosphere that makes the experience feel special the moment you walk in. We tried the Japanese Breakfast, which is a savory cocktail and such a pleasant surprise. It genuinely has miso soup notes. It's very unique and creative. I also had El Boho (flavorful but not overly sweet). The staff are always friendly and very knowledgeable when it comes to recommending drinks. The prices are on the higher end, but personally I think they're totally worth it for the creativity and overall experience. I had about 45 minutes until a nearby appointment and was near the Amazon Spheres. I recalled there was a hidden bar inside the Spheres so I walked around the block until I found Deep Dive. The entrance is along a pathway to an simple door with a hard to read bar name on the door. Not really a speakeasy per se but definitely that vibe. Once inside, you go down a ramp and around a corner to the very dark and windowless lounge. There are about 9-10 seats at the bar and several tables filling out the space. There is very interesting decorations throughout the venue. The pheasant under glass being the first decoration I saw. I noticed that there are several other taxidermized animals under glass along the bar. In fact, my seat ended up being directly in front of a squirrel under glass. Unusual decor. The tables and bar were mostly occupied yet even without reservations, I was seated rapidly by the host at the bar and immediately offered a choice of sparkling or still water. This is a nice European touch I observed. I chose sparkling water. Then I perused the menu and chose a Bourbon Old Fashioned cocktail as this place screams hard liquor to me. My cocktail was very tasty and done up well by the professional bartender. I was happy to have finally tried Deep Dive and can see this place being a great spot for clandestine meetings or a drink and a bite to eat before going to a show nearby. It is pretty pricey as my one drink with tip was about $37. Not for the faint of heart. read more

This was a pretty big disappointment if you are factoring in price 129 for 4 drinks with auto gratuity for a party of 4 Service, host was great and introducing us and getting us seated. But the rest of the team felt like it was more of a chore to check up on us. Quality of experience felt detached from the restaurant since we were tucked away at the bottom of the ramp. It was dark and felt secluded from what we would have liked to see for a first impression. We understand that we didn't have a reservation so this might have contributed to the low quality experience. Would love to give this place another try in the future since there's a lot of good reviews but we'd definitely recommend reconsidering if you're looking to walk in. Where do I even start? Prior to COVID and through 2023, this used to be me and my boyfriend's favorite bar. We would come here once or twice a week and always had a great experience. Unfortunately, after they brought in new staff, the service went completely downhill. For a bar that now charges a 22% service fee--which is new--and where the average cocktail is around $25, the level of service is simply not justifiable. The service is lazy, inattentive, and pretentious, especially for what you're paying. We've had to wait several minutes just to be acknowledged when walking in, even when the bar wasn't busy. Once seated, we're rarely checked on, never proactively asked if we'd like another drink or a refill, and have experienced ridiculous wait times just to pay the bill. When you're already paying premium prices, these kinds of experiences make the additional 22% service charge even harder to justify. I will say that the atmosphere is nice compared to many other bars in Seattle, and the cocktails are decent, especially considering the variety they offer. However, neither the atmosphere nor the drinks make up for the price or the level of service. If you're going to charge a 22% service fee, the experience should reflect it. At that price point, I expect attentive, polished, and genuinely upscale service--the kind of service you would expect from an upscale cocktail bar. read more

I've been coming to Deep Dive since it opened in 2018. It used to be one of the best cocktail bars in Seattle, but the experience has declined significantly, particularly since the staff changed around 2023. The biggest issue is the service. The staff consistently comes across as pretentious and judgmental, with an attitude that feels based more on how you look or what you wear than how you behave as a customer. That approach feels especially out of touch for a bar in the middle of Seattle, where a raincoat and sweater are practically the uniform. Know your city and your clientele. Unfortunately, the cocktails no longer make up for it. They still photograph well, but the actual drinks are average at best. The level of mixology and craft that made Deep Dive stand out has noticeably declined since 2023. At this point, you can get comparable cocktails at plenty of nearby restaurants. The atmosphere is still nice, but it isn't unique enough to carry the experience on its own. You can find this type of dark, upscale cocktail-bar aesthetic in any major city. What makes the decline harder to overlook is the mandatory 22% service charge. Deep Dive didn't always have it, and the service certainly hasn't improved since adding it. Two cocktails - one per person - now come out to roughly $65 after the service charge. At that price point, the level of service is difficult to justify. We've waited to be seated while more than half the bar was empty, gone without water refills, sat without anyone asking if we wanted another round, and waited far too long just to get the final bill. A mandatory 22% charge should come with exceptional service. Instead, it feels like there is even less incentive to provide it. Deep Dive still has the setting and reputation it built years ago, but the experience no longer lives up to either. When two drinks cost roughly $65, customers should expect premium cocktails and hospitality. Right now, Deep Dive delivers neither. read more

Our friend took us to this spot, he said it used to be a speakeasy cocktail bar, and it's right under the Amazon Spheres. Reservations are available for parties of up to 6. An old high school buddy was up from Portland and recommended this place, an old stomping ground that they carried him out of on more than one occasion. It's a dive. An elegant mess. It's dark. It looks filthy, but it's not. They have a huge selection of libations that reads more like a book than a menu. The prices are a bit on the steep side, but they serve an excellent drink and the atmosphere is extremely intimate and kickin'. They also offer a few small plates, if you like. Love me a swanky cocktail lounge! The space is dark, sexy, sophisticated. Staff are friendly and helpful in answering questions about the menu. The cocktails I tried were both fab- rifs on classics, nicely balanced. We split a few small plates- the oysters are $$ but the best I've had in a long time. I'd skip the burrata which didn't have any of the pickled rhubarb or salt flavor that the menu teased, but the smoked salmon dip was a winner. Cocktail tables are tiny and there's really not room for more than one plate of food at a time. The reservation is only for 90 minutes, so plan strategically if you plan to order food and more than one round of drinks. This speakeasy is in the middle of the Amazonian balls (iykyk) and it's a very cute and small place that utilizes the space it has very well. Dimly lit, not too loud, fancy interior design, this is a great spot to go for after dinner drinks in Seattle. The drink menu is arranged in a way that the first few pages have drinks with a lower alcohol content and as you turn the pages further, the alcohol content gets stronger, allowing you to choose how you want the rest of your night to go. I've been looking forward to visiting the bar for weeks. Finally got a time and reservation time I preferred was available. We arrive and get seated. The First Gentleman was attentive and we got our drinks and an appetizer timely. We ordered our second appetizer with our first server and thats where the service deteriorated. I could hear the table next to us ordered the exact same appetizer as we did 10-15 mins after we did and a new server who must had just clocked in brings them the order literally within 2-3 mins later and the male commented, "oh that was fast" and I thought to myself they got our order. Another 10-15 mins go by and I had to ask "do you know how long our order will take to which she seemed to get annoyed. It could have my energy because by that time I was annoyed. I'm not sure what happened to our original server but he must have gotten off. About 5-10 mins goes by and here it comes. That confirmed the table next to us got our order because of how long it took. They never apologized for their mistake. Doing all that time they never came back to see if we would like another drink. I had to flag someone down. The clincher was we got our bill and there was 22% service charge. That was on me because if I would have seen it I might not have gone. I'm not a fan of automatically charging a service charge. I'm a great tipper but it must be earned. By than I was really annoyed and thought to have a conversation with the manager but let it go. I would not go back. The craft cocktails are spendy but I had no problem with that because they're creative and they earned it by being creative. But the energy and the environment wasn't like the other speak easy bars I visited. It was boring and to top it off the service charge of 22% and the service that came with it sealed it for me. There was a large variety of drinks on the menu, though I felt my drink ultimately didn't taste as unique as the description was. We also unfortunately had the waiter break a glass in front of us and got a shard on my skin - they were really apologetic however but that did ruin my experience overall. My friend brought me here for my birthday and we had a great experience! I enjoyed the dark vibe. We tried a couple of different drinks (love how the menu is divided into the different zones of the sea depending on the main liquor) that were recommended by our servers based on our preferences. My only complaint (but not really) is that my friend's drinks were both served more creatively whereas my bourbon/whiskey ones were rather plain. I went solo so maybe he thought I was waiting for someone but after 15 minutes yikes. He passed me a few times and I had to let him know I was ready. I told him my favorite drink was a lemon drop and he immediately let me know this was not the place for that type of drink. In those exact words...I was shocked because it was a full bar and I know that I may not be able to get that exact drink but definitely something sweet. He had let me know that none of the drinks on the menu were sweet, which I found a little surprising. He did recommended one to me that he felt was the most sweet. Guess what... it was sweet and I didn't have an issue with the actual drink. I just didn't like the service that I receive there as a tourist and someone who travels/reviews foods often. I was shocked. If you're looking for ambience and pictures. Good luck with that as well because when I whipped out my phone to take pictures, the same waiter let me know that I was not able to take pictures and I later found out that I could take pictures just without the flash so he kinda ruined the whole experience for me. Service and drinks were 100/100 excellent. There only one tiny thing that I should mention is the place is pretty small. The seatings were cramped and while I was there my chair was kicked 3 times.
