Loved my speciality drink with Ginger. Service was great and girls did an excellent job listening to what we like and adding their own little twist. Speakeasy bar was above the tavern law bar. You call through old phone and say password and go up flight of stairs to get to room. Happy we got to experience our first one here.

Fantastic night of crafted cocktails and small eats. The premise for this speakeasy is that they don't have a cocktail list, but create the perfect cocktails to your favorite tastes and spirits. I have to say that my cocktails were probably the best I've tasted! Perfection is what the bartenders are shooting for and they hit the mark with unique and creative use of the drink spectrum. I highly recommend and get your reservation in to enjoy a fabulous cocktail.

Absolutely fun spot if you feel like going on an adventure. I was initially at Tavern Law just downstairs then was told there was space available upstairs for us if we were interested in checking it out. Upon arrival, we got seated immediately and asked of our preferences for a drink. Despite me giving a quite abstract preference they nailed the drinks of my dreams. I wanted something spicy, clean and unexpected and absolutely loved my cocktail. The presentation is also very good with ample fresh flowers and unique compositions. Would definitely come back anytime.

Drinks made after answering a few questions! Both were delicious and definitely exceeded our expectations!

We were able to snag an hour reservation in the middle of the week and had a great time. This speakeasy located in Tavern Law was super cozy and cute, and definitely requires a reservation because of how limited space is. I believe it was $20 for the two of us to reserve an hour, which was subtracted from our bill at the end. Someone came by fairly quickly after we sat down and asked us a few questions-- mainly what type of liquor we enjoyed, flavors we typically like, and others questions to help the bartenders/mixologist come up something special for each of us. Hard to explain, but the concept is great and they hit the mark for both of us. The drinks are a little pricey ($25 per drink) but I would say it's worth it to experience it at least once, and certainly a fun date night spot.

Burrata and Focaccia

Secret spot with specialty, one of a kind, no menu personalized cocktails that hit the spot! What an experience. Right from the entry experience at this speakeasy, the tone was set. Special, tucked away, and beautiful, you are transported to another place and time - with wait and bar staff that are friendly and knowledgable, it was a night I won't soon forget. And the food!! Simple and delicious - I am still swooning over the burrata dish. Go! Make a resy for a special night out and you won't regret it.

Had a Saturday evening reservation. We arrived about 10 minutes early and had to wait until exactly the reservation time. Went through the telephone door and was sat immediately. The place looked like a small house / attic - which was nice and intimate. They don't have a set cocktail menu - you describe what you want or enjoy, and they'll craft something based on this. Service was spot on in helping guide us through what we may want. Had a rum old fashioned type drink and an herbal sweet drink with vodka as well. Both were well made. I think the concept is good for those that are feeling a bit of whimsical, at the same time - some set cocktails may be helpful to guide those who don't really know what they're feeling for.

We had the best of intentions to walk to Needle & Thread, but halfway there we called a car. (It was raining. And uphill.) Needle & Thread, tucked above Tavern Law in Seattle's Capitol Hill, is a reservation-only speakeasy that offers a truly bespoke cocktail experience. A vintage phone at the back of the bar unlocks a hidden staircase leading to an intimate parlor filled with velvet chairs, antique decor, and vintage typewriters. Once seated, guests share their flavor preferences with expert bartenders who craft personalized drinks using fresh ingredients and top-shelf spirits. Whether you're craving something fruity, spicy, or bold, the result is creative and delicious. You'll never believe this, but my flavor explanation materialized into an elevated old fashioned. Cheers.

Overall: S // 7 stars Phenomenal speakeasy located in a vibrant district of Seattle! Everything about this experience was outstanding, from the cute telephone hidden entrance, to the throne-like seating of every single table, to the very well prompted questioning to concoct the perfect drink, to the stunning craftsmanship of the actual drink itself. I cannot recommend this place enough, definitely visit if you're ever in Seattle. (Japanese-Inspired: A+) - Opted for an Asian-forward drink for round one, which centered around genmaicha, shochu, and nori. This simple yet elegant drink gives a sake-forward smoothness and a mildly umami seaweed background. Excellent blend for those who like alcohol-subtle cocktails without sweetness or acidity. (Performative Era: S) - Round two hit the home run for me as this is exactly my type of drink; we went for floral, fruity, and performative here -- with featured a torched lime, not only for show, but adding a smoked citrus note. The blue curacao combined with the flame gives a novel showstopping look beyond the commonplace hibiscus or butterfly pea flower, which I was particularly impressed by. Absolutely phenomenal. You can't make reservations at their parent main bar, Tavern Law but you can and must make one for their upstairs speakeasy Needle and thread (spots open 6 days prior). It's an intimate dim lit upstairs area with bar, high tops, and lounge seats. There are stairs to the entrance and within the bar area and there are restrooms too. The bar staff take time to understand what you want and ask questions to get more clarity. They encourage you to provide more details about the mood (eg. Light refreshing sipper for a beach afternoon) or the liquors or flavors or techniques. I asked for something with green chartreuse and saffron and my partner asked for a new novelty liquor. She made us two super fabulous drinks. They also have some light finger food - We had the cauliflower bites. Then we headed downstairs and had a night cap at TL. Overall, a really nice experience.

Made our reservation one week in advance for a Saturday night. The vibes were eclectic, the staff was super friendly and we thought the concept was really cool. Pricing was 23 for a cocktail. My husband loved his. Woody, rosemary, scotch. Mine was just okay, they missed the mark a little despite giving all my likes and dislikes. It was essentially a lemon gin and tonic. But a little too strong on the lemon that it was almost like lemon Lysol cleaner. The pour was strong, neither of us elected for a second drink. Based on the concept of the bartenders creating something special for you based off of your likes and "vibes" we'd be back to try again.

This place is amazing! No drink menu, they customize each cocktail for you based off your likes. The cocktails were delicious, no complaints. Fun inside definitely giving speakeasy, specially with the phone & door for the "secret" enterance. Can't wait to go back!

Oh baby. Cocktail heaven. Came here on a whim/random sunday night to try to see if we can slip in and got lucky. There's no drink menu here. The staff here are all a vibe. Very chill spot but also if you're hungry you can get a bite which does have a menu. Just like you'd find at a top cocktail bar in Tokyo you just tell the server/bartender what you're feeling, and they'll whip up something for u. I went for a whisky based drink that was spicy and smokey BUT smooth. Sounds like a hard combo right? Well they knocked this out the park like Guy Fieri would say. The drink was exactly what I wanted, so I was pretty blown away w what they threw together. The bread pudding itself was a nice little changeup too. If I could slip in here every visit I would. Some very adventurous, delicious, fun drinks can be found here. Definitely worth a stop. Check this place out.

Something with bourbon, sun-dried tomato, toasted pineapple, and tobacco.

Holy moly this place is amazing. It's hard to find a true speakeasy in Seattle but this is it. The bartenders were amazing at crafting drinks for our personal tastes. They really took it seriously. My two drinks were the best two I've ever had. And when your seating time has run out you can go downstairs to Tavern Law to continue getting great drinks.

Do they take walk ins for drinks?

We accept as many walk ins as we are able to accommodate on any given night. However, being a small bar we cannot guarantee access to everyone. Reservations via our website (tavernlaw.com) make for the smoothest experience.

I'm a little confused because i see people saying they stayed for an hour + but the reservation site only gives the option for an hour. Am I missing something?

When I went we stayed longer than an hour... I believe if they aren't super busy and don't have another reservation immediately after you then they allow you to stay a little longer however most people seemed to have a few drinks and appetizers and… Read more

The First Gentleman was attentive and we got our drinks and an appetizer timely. We ordered our second appetizer with our first server and thats where the service deteriorated. I could hear the table next to us ordered the exact same appetizer as we did 10-15 mins after we did and a new server who must had just clocked in brings them the order literally within 2-3 mins later and the male commented, "oh that was fast" and I thought to myself they got our order. Another 10-15 mins go by and I had to ask "do you know how long our order will take to which she seemed to get annoyed. It could have my energy because by that time I was annoyed. I'm not sure what happened to our original server but he must have gotten off. About 5-10 mins goes by and here it comes. That confirmed the table next to us got our order because of how long it took. They never apologized for their mistake. Doing all that time they never came back to see if we would like another drink. I had to flag someone down. The clincher was we got our bill and there was 22% service charge. That was on me because if I would have seen it I might not have gone. I'm not a fan of automatically charging a service charge. I'm a great tipper but it must be earned. By than I was really annoyed and thought to have a conversation with the manager but let it go. I would not go back. The craft cocktails are spendy but I had no problem with that because they're creative and they earned it by being creative. But the energy and the environment wasn't like the other speak easy bars I visited. It was boring and to top it off the service charge of 22% and the service that came with it sealed it for me. Make sure to read the website on their thought around the 22%.

When the city reopened in 2021, I was eating here almost every day; partly because of convenience, but mainly because the food and service never miss. I've hosted everything here: birthday celebrations, after-work hangs, and dinners with friends and colleagues. Every single time, it's a hit. People walk in, fall in love with the vibe, and walk out talking about the food. The consistency is unreal. They even order food to go. The flavors? Bold, intentional, and layered in a way that makes each dish feel crafted, not just cooked. The presentation is always stunning; plates that look as good as they taste. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in what they send out. Drinks are equally impressive. Their cocktails are balanced and creative, the kind that make you slow down just to appreciate the mixology behind them. And for anyone planning group outings: reservations here are a breeze. They're incredibly accommodating with large parties, and the service stays sharp even when the place is packed. Attentive, friendly, and perfectly paced; they know how to take care of people. Dead Line checks every box: atmosphere, flavor, presentation, service, and seamless hosting for big groups. It's easily one of the most reliable and enjoyable spots in downtown Seattle, and it's stayed that way for years.

Roquette was a surprisingly small space with a wonderful vibe serving up "destination" bar-worthy cocktails. It reminded me of some of the neighborhood gem cocktail bars that I'd frequented on the East Coast. I grabbed a seat at the bar. Roquette's lineup of cocktails were varied in flavor profile using a wide range of spirits. They also served non-alcoholic offerings which looked equally intriguing as their boozy selections. I started off with the 99 Problems ($28), which, unfortunately, I forgot to note what was in the drink. It was boozy, clever, inventive, and most importantly delicious. My second drink was the Imperium Old Fashioned ($24) made with Westland Whiskey "Roquette" Barrel, Clement Cask Strength Rhum, Old Delicious Apple Brandy, Pineapple, and Spice. It was an excellent, boozy, balanced update to the classic Old Fashioned. Although I went with drinks off their menu, I have no doubt that any of their skilled bar professionals could've crafted me a wonderful cocktail if I had simply requested a classic or something on the fly based on my choice of spirit and desired flavor profile. Yes, the prices on the two drinks I ordered were pretty steep, but they were comparable to prices I've paid in Las Vegas. Plus, I don't have a problem with paying a premium for a well-made cocktail made with premium ingredients in a comfortable, welcoming setting (the drunken guy next to me who tried to engage with me in a political discussion excluded). Bottom-line: Roquette was a revelation. It served up two of the best cocktails that I've had this year. I can't recommend it enough and it'll be at the top of my list of places to hit the next time I'm in town.
