I booked the speakeasy at Roquette for my buddy's bachelor party, and it ended up being one of the highlights of the trip. We arrived around 5:00 PM and were greeted by a friendly and knowledgeable mixologist. While looking over the menu, he asked what I typically enjoy drinking. I told him I'm a big fan of an Old Fashioned, and he suggested an Eagle Rare Old Fashioned. It was, without question, one of the best Old Fashioneds I've ever had at any establishment. The balance of flavors was outstanding, and the attention to detail was obvious from the first sip. I was so impressed by both the drink and the overall experience that I asked him how he made it and what ingredients he used so I could try to recreate it at home. While I'm probably only 90% of the way there, I'll never quite match the perfection he achieved that evening. The atmosphere, service, and cocktails were all exceptional. We decided to swing by Roquette on a random Friday night. The place is a bit small with limited seating so we are lucky to get a table for a large group on such short notice. They have a rotating menu which is interesting, so you never know what you might have in the menu. We tried a bunch of different drinks: the Gucci slipper, Guavacita, Golden Hour, panic button, old fashioned and space coyote. The reason for the 3 stars is the taste of the cocktails. Out of the many cocktails we ordered, the only one that was palatable was the guavacita. The others were too pungent or way too strong for my taste. Following the sage recommendation of a bartender at Zig Zag Cafe, I made my way into Belltown over to Roquette. Roquette was a surprisingly small space with a wonderful vibe serving up "destination" bar-worthy cocktails. It reminded me of some of the neighborhood gem cocktail bars that I'd frequented on the East Coast. I grabbed a seat at the bar. Roquette's lineup of cocktails were varied in flavor profile using a wide range of spirits. They also served non-alcoholic offerings which looked equally intriguing as their boozy selections. I started off with the 99 Problems ($28), which, unfortunately, I forgot to note what was in the drink. It was boozy, clever, inventive, and most importantly delicious. My second drink was the Imperium Old Fashioned ($24) made with Westland Whiskey "Roquette" Barrel, Clement Cask Strength Rhum, Old Delicious Apple Brandy, Pineapple, and Spice. It was an excellent, boozy, balanced update to the classic Old Fashioned. Although I went with drinks off their menu, I have no doubt that any of their skilled bar professionals could've crafted me a wonderful cocktail if I had simply requested a classic or something on the fly based on my choice of spirit and desired flavor profile. Yes, the prices on the two drinks I ordered were pretty steep, but they were comparable to prices I've paid in Las Vegas. Plus, I don't have a problem with paying a premium for a well-made cocktail made with premium ingredients in a comfortable, welcoming setting (the drunken guy next to me who tried to engage with me in a political discussion excluded). Bottom-line: Roquette was a revelation. It served up two of the best cocktails that I've had this year. I can't recommend it enough and it'll be at the top of my list of places to hit the next time I'm in town. read more

I went here on a Monday after work right in time for their happy hour which occurs from 5-7pm daily. I got the espresso martini which is discounted to $12 (originally $17) as well as their popular Panic Button. The espresso martini, like other reviews say, is good. I did find it not as ideal that they premade their espresso, but the difference is marginal compared to espresso martinis with espresso made on the spot in the Centurion Lounges where I always order that drink. What stood out in their version is a bit more creaminess and sweetness. The Panic Button is very similar to the Verbena cocktail from The Chandelier in Vegas, but this one is not as floral or herbal. However, the buzz button they used here is much stronger and lingers for longer, around 5 minutes, and there were moments that the numbness was so strong I thought I was suffocating. So I would recommend you to take small bites and let the buzz button longer in your mouth before you eat more, since I did pop the whole thing and swish around my mouth. The flavor profile of the cocktail was the exact same, so this drink is just a for-experience, which was a bit disappointing as the recommendation is to drink half the cocktail first, then pop the buzz button and drink the rest, which implies some sort of different experience. Overall, this is a fairly good bar in Belltown, and it is recommended to go during the weekdays as I can see it being quite popular and busy during the weekends. It is conveniently located to many good restaurants; since there are limited offerings of food here aside from small bite snacks, the best way to spend the night is get some nice drinks here and then go to another restaurant for food before/after. read more

My girlfriend very politely and kindly engaged in conversation with two other women at a nearby table and I was informed by the bartender that I needed to make her return to her seat and leave other patrons alone. I asked if anyone had complained and was told that no one had. I then informed my girlfriend and the ladies she was speaking with about this and the ladies also said it was ridiculous. They were enjoying their conversation, which I had to rudely interrupt to satisfy the uptight bar manager. We had just come from a nice anniversary dinner and my girlfriend was wearing a lovely dress, and was not inebriated. I say this only to be clear that it was not as if she was some drunken or unsavory person giving unwanted attention to strangers. She was merely being social at a bar- isn't that what bars are for? Apparently this bar only wants you to socialize with the people you came in with. It is disgusting to me that so many establishments turn a blind eye to men wantonly hitting on single women and groping at them, and yet when a woman harmlessly tries to make friends with other women, she's told she's unwelcome. What a joke. Don't bother with this place. It's just another bar with nothing unique to offer other than the same over priced drinks as anywhere else. read more

I went to Roquette with some friends on a Saturday night. We walked into the unassuming door and were greeted promptly. The bar itself is fairly small with some bar seating and about 6 booths for larger parties. Luckily there was a table immediately open for us and we were led to it. The cocktails at roquette were really good. They were strong but I couldn't taste the alcohol. My favorites were the Paper Moon, Panic Button, and the Space Coyote. Been here twice! First time I came with a group of three without reservation but was still able to find seating at the bar. Second time I came, I booked a reservation online was an easy process with a five dollar deposit that should be applied to your bill. Max RSVP online is 6, but I messaged them on Instagram and easily increased to 7 (which is probably the max I would suggest for the size of the seating). They don't have a phone number listed anywhere on their website, Insta, Yelp, or Google so I highly recommend just DMing on Instagram if you can. When we showed up, we got ushered to our table and got the first round of drinks quickly. All the drinks for delicious and you really can't go wrong from the menu. The panic button is definitely one to try due to the Szechuan buzz button though. After you eat the dehydrated flower, your mouth gets tingly and a little bitter - totally changes the flavor profile of the drink! The only downside to our visit was one worker, who seemed bothered I asked for a drink recommendation. He suggested a Mezcal drink, and when I told him I didn't like Mezcal he was dismissive saying "well I only drink Mezcal".... A different bartender, who we talked to our first visit, was also there and a lot friendlier, so I won't completely knock Roquette for the service. read more
