After a team dinner, we decided on a whim to stop by for drinks, and were pleasantly surprised. This place is located inside the Spheres in SLU (look for an inconspicuous door on the corner of 7th and Lenora St. The interior is super fun, a bit of a crossover between Jules Verne and Lewis Carroll, and gives you an occasion to dress up, should you wish so. We did not have a reservation, although one is highly recommended, but got super lucky with the timing, and ended up in the "library" - which is a perfect space for a business happy hour or just a slightly bigger group. The menu has a a pretty decent selection of non-alcoholic drinks in addition to a wide and creative drinks list. The service was very attentive-yet-not hovering, which is the optimal combo. We had a great time at Deep Dive! The reservations were made a few weeks in advance to ensure we could get in. We were seated right away and were blown away instantly by the decor and ambiance. Every employee we interacted with was lovely, attentive, and knew their stuff. My husband and I ordered two drinks a piece. Two were off their premade cocktail menu. I ordered the kitten heel which was very "sprucy" and floral. It was well made but I may try something different next time. Then I got a simple gin gimlet -- it was delightful and clean. My husband wanted to get a blackberry scotch drink, but they were out so they made an off menu drink called The Lions Mane which blew his mind. Loved that they were able to whip something up for him based on what he was looking for! For food we both ordered the tasting menu. Every dish was very thoughtful and built out a delicious culinary story. The steak with turnip puree and watermelon radish was the star of the show. Only "ding" was the burnt basque cheesecake with seasonal fruit. The cheesecake was scrumptious but they topped it with frozen strawberries like what are typically used on ice cream sundaes. We expected fresh fruit for a $75 per person experience. The overwhelming sweetness was not good. At the end of the night we paid about $300 after tip. This is totally a once or twice a year spot. We'll certainly be bringing friends visiting Seattle so they can try it out. read more

A favorite cocktail bar of ours. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because we walked in right after it opened one night before a concert and we were asked if we had a reservation. We didn't because it was a last minute decision to go there because we were early to our concert. There were plenty of tables and spaces open that we could see. He told us that we could sit but he needed our spot after 45 minutes. We accepted as that was all the time we had anyway. Moments after he sat us at our small table, he told us that the party who had reserved our table cancelled so we could stay longer than 45 minutes. We ordered some cocktails that were excellent. As well as a charcuterie board of delectable cheeses and meats. We took our time and I orders another cocktail before we closed out our bill. Charcuterie was amazing! It's kind of a speak easy in the way it's not easy to find. It's under the Amazon Spheres with a single door. It has a dark cool vibe. This gothic maximalist bar under the Amazon spheres is a unique and fun bar for a classy date but not much else. While the atmosphere can't be beat, the prices certainly can. The cheapest drinks you will get are $20 each and nothing was too special about the ones we had. That being said, the faccacia was amazing which a crisp crust, soft and chewy inside. The attention to details were spot on. Even the cubed I've had their logo on it. The atmosphere has every little detail polished. Everything from the gorgious paintings with particular frames that match the windows to the items lit with underneath lighting are obviously well thought out. I was visiting a friend who suggested we go to Deep Dive because she has tried to go multiple times and it was always full. We arrived just as they were opening on a Friday at 5p and were able to get a table for two. It is a "speakeasy" of sorts, so it wasn't obvious to me how to find it...but it's also not that tough since the entrance is visible from the sidewalk. The bar is beautiful with an old-fashioned feel to it - lots of dark wood, dim lighting and patrons and bar staff generally dressed up. It's an intimate space so we were sitting pretty close to the table next to us. We went to Deep Dive on Monday night at 7:15 PM for a quick drink before getting dinner. We love the ambiance here-lots of low lighting and curios here. Their menu is well organized-we like how they sectioned their cocktails by descriptions of how we wanted our cocktails to feel. We split two cocktails, the Don Roberto (tequila/banana/chile amaro) and Old Man and the Sea (whiskey/nori/soy). Both of these are absolute winners-the Don Roberto is delicious with a little bit of funk, and Old Man and the Sea is unique-this was my favorite cocktail of the two. I wouldn't think to have nori or soy in a cocktail but it was well executed! Our only wish was that they had a little basket/hamper for the bathroom's hand towels-it is GORGEOUS and we didn't know where to put them. Gnarly 22% service charge caught my table completely off-guard when closing the tab. There was little to no warning about the gratuity fee verbally or on the menu. I heavily suggest the establishment to provide some form of notification so customers aren't surprised or deterred from returning. Overall, the speakeasy provided an intimate and luxurious experience in the limited space it reserved from the sphere. The over-all speakeasy was themed towards the underwater depths and its decorations appeared like an inside of a boat. Service was nice and speedy on a Monday. Drinks were $23 but after the 22% gratuity averaged around $31 per drink!! Certain drinks that were recommended sounded great to the ear and in theory. However, when crafted, the drinks tasted purely taste like alcohol. The Oishii Nei! was promoted as being an alcoholic matcha drink but purely tasted like whiskey. The Banana's Folly, a creamy banana alcoholic cocktail, had no of banana but of just rum/tequila. Honestly tasted like I was sipping on a shot of Hennessy. Overall, I appreciated the intimate design and creative take on the name/menu. However, the craftsmanship/tastiness of the drinks and sheer pricing was slightly outrageous. This is the first time an establishment set an automatic 22% gratuity fee for a party of 3 (with $23 per drink) on interactions that totaled less than 5 minutes total. Located in the center Amazon sphere downtown, the speakeasy-type atmosphere was even better than I imagined and the food (though a limited menu of non-cooked items,) was very tasty! I came to The Dive with my partner for a special anniversary dinner and killer cocktails, which did not disappoint! The drinks were phenomenal and unique. The only distracting thing was that we were in close quarters with a woman who had her legs up on a man's lap the entire time, in a very small space which made us a bit uncomfortable when they started to makeout. You'll definitely need to make a reservation as there are limited spots inside that are utilized for roughly 60-90 minutes or so before the next reservation spot begins. The servers were polite, though not necessarily the most personable. That being said, the service was excellent and the staff was able to answer all questions and even make drink recommendations. If you are on a budget this is going to be more of a "special occasion" spot due to the 22% added gratuity fee, but it's definitely worth a visit! If it weren't for the limited, raw foods menu and mildly aloof staff, this would have been a 5 star review, hands down! read more

We had a reservation and were seated as soon as we arrived. Our table faced the bar area where we had a lovely view of the bartenders crafting cocktails and the intricate wall of spirits behind them. Throughout the night we ordered a couple rounds of cocktails that were all delicious and well presented. Pretty neat speakeasy located at the Spheres! Reservations are fairly hard to get unless you go around opening, so definitely plan a few days to a week in advance if you wish to go here after dinner. We were able to snag a reservation for 3 people at 10pm on a Saturday, the morning of. One of the big pluses is that they are willing to hold the reservation for 20 minutes maximum, so we ran late and still were able to be seated. Also, the hours say they close at 11pm for Saturday, but they don't kick you out at 11pm. They want to make sure you have the time needed to enjoy the cocktails and have a good experience. We got the Scorched Earth, Duc Duc Gooseberry, and the featured cocktail - Flower Drum Song. Almost all cocktails are $20, but the Scorched Earth was $22. Price-wise it is a bit high, and the cocktails are not that good. Some of them felt a bit watered down. However, the cocktails are very pretty and the ambience is very classy and modern-looking. The Scorched Earth had a nice smoky flavor. Duc duc gooseberry has some ginger and light spice flavor, but a bit watered down. Flower Drum Song had a nice bubbly, fruity, and floral composition. Service overall is good. The server is patient and refills water consistently. Pictures are encouraged as they let me wander into the different areas of the bar, encouraging me to go in to the private room if I wish to take better pictures. So this place adds an insulting 22% gratuity to every check. There is also no warning of this ahead of time. This is just about the most disrespectful thing a restaurant/bar can do to its customers. It's not about the money, but the nerve to automatically add beyond 20% is crazy and basically amounts to theft, as this is not a regular practice or industry standard. There is no justification for it. Normally I tip well beyond 20%, but I simply wouldn't go back here due to the feeling this gave me. It's just extremely cringy. Jack up your drink prices as high as you want. I understand I'm drinking underneath a giant tourist attraction, so paying $23 for a sub par drink with well whiskey in it is fine. It is a nice, classy place. But there's no way to get past this. The check says this 22% is automatically added to every check in small print at the bottom. I'm assuming this is true, unless of course it was just done to me because I was wearing a flannel shirt and jeans and to the Latino couple seated next to me at the bar. If you have self respect, I wouldn't go to this place. There are plenty of other bars in Seattle. Tavern Law has better drinks and only automatically adds the customary 20% gratuity. You can't hang out at the bar to finish your drink since all seating is reserved. Their drinks are on the pricier side but are stronger. This is a cute little speakeasy right underneath the Spheres. We went there on a Wednesday night and it was as busy as a weekend night. I'd recommend preferably doing a reservation as opposed to walking in as this place can get really busy even on a weekday. They only allow you to sit at a table for 1.5 hours and the waitress mentioned this even before we got the table which I thought was not very welcoming. We walked in and the ambience was just so elegant and classy. We tried the gun and rose and the huckleberry sin cocktails. Both were really flavorful and lived up to their names. I have a feeling that my review would've been lower if I had gotten the food here, but it's a good thing I didn't. We really only stopped by here for drinks because we wanted to check out the spheres that this bar is in. I ordered a cocktail called No More Parties in LA ($20), which is a mix of Singani 63, Cachaca, matcha, coconut, pineapple, vanilla, and lime. I am a matcha fan, so I really liked my drink. It has a potent taste of matcha with other tropical flavors mixed in along with it. All of the drinks that they have here are curated by their bartenders so they're unique enough to justify the higher price point since you can't get these drinks anywhere else. I looked at their food menu though and I can't justify the price for those. We were much better off doing what we did in getting dinner prior to coming here. Service here was okay. From the very beginning we were getting the impression that they wanted us to just get in and out since it was later in the night but it took forever for them to get us our check. Maybe they didn't want to push us too hard to leave, but we're used to having the check dropped off with us to mean that it's time to wrap up. We ended up having to ask them for the check ourselves after our glasses have already been emptied for about half an hour. I do also wish that they turned up the lights in here even just a little bit. It would've been nice to be able to read the menus without needing to hold the candle up to it, while still struggling to read it. Overall the drinks were great and definitely unique, but the experience wasn't that great. It feels like a one time thing to try out and take a look at the spheres but I don't really see myself coming back here on my next Seattle trip. read more

There's nothing else like it that I have seen in the area - it feels like out of a book or a movie with deep shadows, intriguing decor, and little nooks to disappear into. It is intimate and private. I appreciated that they gave terms that I think people from social drinkers to experienced drinkers would appreciate and be able to order without wondering what they did order. And if it's not on the menu it's not off the table. The bartenders are super knowledgeable and are eager to experiment and try new things. They seem very passionate about their craft. I ordered on the menu. I ordered off the menu. And I asked them to come up with something different. I was very pleased with each drink. I would caution it is not an inexpensive bar. You're not coming here for happy hour. They have some food but nothing you could make a meal out of. It is all high end upscale bar food, much fancier than you'd see at a typical bar.
