Amending my prior 5* review to a begrudging 4*, probably really deserving a 3. Why? I used to go to Frolik ALL THE TIME when I worked downtown, it was charming, cozy atmosphere, clean with a dash of whimsy, loved the Happy Hour food & drink offerings. My, how things have changed eff February 2026. Frolik remodeled & moved their interior bar from the West wall (sunset facing) to the South wall, fine. They installed a fixed professional roofing covering 1/2 their very large exterior deck (adjustable/retractable for weather conditions), fantastic. As of early Feb 2026, they aren't completely finished updating the exterior deck, yet currently both the deck and the interior remodeling & furnishings are classy yet stark stark stark, bright lights (too bright), sleek corporate feeling tables & decor. If you are seeking a meal or a cocktail in what could be any upscale hotel bar/restaurant on your corporate work trip in any random city, this is the place for you. & a strange change. Frolik is on the 5th floor of the Motif hotel; they removed the signage in the elevator to indicate which button to push to get to the restaurant. As for what time of day you can dine/drink here, Frolik does not update their website, Yelp page, signage in the hotel lobby or their phone greeting to disclose the mystery answer to their ever-changing hours of operation. Even the hotel staff in the lobby can't answer this simple question. From what I can discern, they serve breakfast (actually quite delicious), then close til 4PM opening for dinner. I DID enjoy the HH drinks: $10 from a selection of 5 martinis, visually pretty & a strong pour. Currently no food offerings for HH, yet dinner menu looks delicious, typical high prices for Seattle dining out. The woman tending bar behaved as though she'd prefer to be anywhere but here doing her job, so we moved to the comfy sofas & had 5*+ service from long time staffer Michelle. Will I go back? Given the huge selection of bars & restaurants in downtown Seattle, I'll pop my head in only to view the finished exterior deck, to see if I change my mind. Sorry Frolik for tossing all this shade at you, yet I don't understand what clientele you are trying to appeal to. read more

We visited Frolik last night for dinner. Seattle Restaurant Week was continuing and we decided to enjoy it at this spot. It wasn't a very busy night though there were a few folks at the bar and dining space. As is the case with many eateries these days the place was short of staff. We were seated fairly quickly though. The Restaurant Week menu consisted of an appetizer, entree, and dessert for $50. We went for the Roasted Beet Salad, Wild Mushroom Risotto, and Chocolate Souffle, and the Steamed Mussels and Clams, the Cedar Plank King Salmon, and another Chocolate Souffle. The risotto was fine with the exception of being very salty. Other than that, fine. The King Salmon was accompanied with grilled brussel sprouts and blistered tomatoes. It was moist and not overcooked. Quite a tasty dish! The appetizers were fine. I really enjoyed the mussels and clams, and I understand from my wife that the beet salad was also good. Located inside the Hilton Motif, Frolik was a nice spot for a quick, delicious breakfast before checking out of the hotel. The restaurant was busier than expected, and our server seemed a bit overwhelmed at times, but the coffee and food were quite tasty. I was impressed by the amount of salmon on my smoked salmon bagel - seriously, there was a whole fish worth of salmon stacked on top of this beauty! I could only eat half of it and had to take the other half to go. The Dude got a breakfast burrito and said he really loved it. The atmosphere here is really nice, too. It's very spacious, with lots of natural lighting, plus a large outdoor seating area that I suppose would be lovely in the summer. My biggest beef was that the prices were definitely "hotel level" and, mostly, that they add a mandatory 20% service charge to each check (of which only a portion goes to the staff as a gratuity)! Located inside of the hotel, this bar is convenient. We hit them up for breakfast and coffee prior to setting off for the day. We sat up at the bar and therefor our server was also the bartender. He was quick with menus and coffees. We looked everything over and put in our orders a short time later. Food didn't take too long to come out. The overall atmosphere definitely lends itself more to a nighttime location than anything, and it's easy to see why most reviews mention them as a bar or dinner venue. We stopped by Frolick for a quick drink and some bites and had a fantastic Happy Hour experience in one of their cozy rooftop patio igloos! I went here for my birthday dinner, with a slight high expectation because of the price and the reputation of the restaurant and the outside which had a nice view in picture. But when I went the menu changed, so there wasn't a lot of good dinner options or drinks and the outside wasn't open. I ended up getting a sandwich or burger which was the only best option in my opinion, and there wasn't any birthday dessert. The only thing that was worth it was the pear mule. Yes, this is a hotel bar and very conveniently located, but unlike other hotel bars I have visited, they have a unique cocktail menu and some great bartenders to boot. I would recommend trying the Old Fashioned and Great Fire from the cocktail menu. As far as food goes, breakfast is much higher priced than it should be, I would recommend going elsewhere, but do give lunch a try. Cheers! read more

Our first night in Seattle before NACFC started the next day for my daughter, so she & I decided to come here for some light Happy Hour food & drinks. Ordered a baby wedge salad, burger sliders, and fries for us to share along with a glass of wine and a mocktail. Only 4 occupied tables at the time and it appeared the food took so long for everyone's orders to arrive. Our burger sliders and fries arrived first before the baby wedge salad. We were so hungry and started eating them and finished them without the wedge salad. Burger sliders were so delicious! We were approached by our server that they were having issues in the kitchen why the wedge salad was taking a while. Also, who appeared to be the manager came to apologize. They compensated us for the salad delay by giving us another round of wine and mocktail on the house. My daughter & I just laughed it off by joking how it was a good thing we didn't ask for a "grown up" wedge salad. Our waiter joked along with us by saying "that would've taken 9 months!" If you are looking at a rooftop bar, this can be one of them, but you are not getting an actual rooftop bar experience overlooking the Seattle city as this bar is only located on the 5th floor. It is still a vibe. We made reservations just in case but it was not too busy if you go during the weekday. As it was cold, we decided to just sit indoors and socialize. Happy hour is from 3-5:30pm so we were able to make it just in time to get some food for a few dollars cheaper, but no biggie if you miss it as the deals are not as strong as other happy hours. We shared the fungi flatbread, crispy brussels sprouts, PNW charcuterie, and tavern pretzel. I personally tried lavender haze, motif mulled wine, and campsite old fashioned for my drinks. Fungi flatbread - so good to the point we got a second round of the flatbread even though we could have gotten something different from the menu for variety. While there wasn't an apparent truffle oil flavor, the mushrooms were fresh and flavorful Crispy brussels sprouts - another food item to get. This one is super flavorful, packed with garlic and chili. The texture is indeed crispy and the brussels sprouts are mostly deconstructed from individual pieces to amplify the crispiness and soaking of the flavors of the ingredients PNW charcuterie - skip. $27 for a few small pieces of 3 types of meats and some crackers. You get much more value from the fungi flatbread and crispy brussels sprouts, and the charcuterie is just pretty average. Tavern pretzel - also pretty okay. It is served with cheese and mustard sauces but for $18.50, again, there are better options out there I liked the lavender haze aesthetics and the flowery flavor notes. It is creative they put flowers inside an ice cube, which stands out as I don't see this much in other bars. The motif mulled wine felt like a pretty standard mulled wine so I would skip it, but it is one of the stronger drinks and is a warm drink which is ideal for the cold weather. The campsite old fashioned was really good. I liked the smokiness of the drink and the marshmallow, and it does say that it is a good pairing with the s'mores for two, but we did not get the s'mores kit as we were pretty full from the food above. Service is okay as requests are fulfilled on request and they do deliver, but given this is more of a rooftop bar / American restaurant, I would expect a little more involvement, but this is not a dealbreaker to our experience. read more

What a fun setup. Frolik has some great cocktails, snacks and views. It is great to have a place with an indoor/outdoor rooftop bar setup. Ordered some drinks, the cheese and charcuterie plate and the loaded tots to have snacks and drinks at dinner. The loaded tots are amazing! Worth the cost. The charcuterie was heavy on the cheese and pretty light on the meats, bread and crackers. Probably not worth the $36. I have definitely had more impressive plates of that for the same or less. The drinks were super good though, fun creations and very tasty. All in all I would say this place is worth a second visit to try other parts of the menu but I do think they need to be a little smarter with putting up shades on a hot day. I stayed at the Motif hotel last weekend and was told the hotel food was good. And let me tell you, I was not expecting it to be this damn good. I thought it would be standard quality food but I was quite surprised. The food here was so good, I ate here each day I stayed. Anyway here's what I got: The Emerald City Burrito: 12/10 - Was not expecting this dish to be that good. I got this burrito twice. Toasted cheese on top of a delicious burrito & crispy baked potatoes. Great way to start your morning off. The Forlik Burger: 12/10 - Smash burger style and very crispy fries. Ask for a side of ranch with your burger, the flavor profiles hit different. The burger was so filling. Can't go wrong. The Business Monkey: 10/10 - Love the look and mixture of this drink. When you see the $$, they mean it. This spot is on the higher end when spending for a dinner but I have to say, my experience was five stars! The food was great and although I didn't get the drinks, I couldn't help but have heart eyes when seeing everyone else's come out. I'd like to thank the misfortune of all the restaurants around Pike Place Market closing around 6 or 7pm, because if they didn't, I would've probably never gotten the chance to dine here. I spent a pretty penny but I think it was well worth it. This restaurant is located on the rooftop (?) floor of the Motif Hotel. I opted for outdoor dining and although it was chilly, they had seating within a tent that was heated. For food, I ordered the Steak Frites which were absolutely delicious. I had a migraine so I passed on the opportunity to get a drink even though I wanted to so badly seeing that most of them came with dry ice giving them such a beautiful aesthetic. Their flavors also looked on point! The service was super friendly, nice and very speedy. All the things that I rave about when dining at a good restaurant. I will note that there is a service fee (?) that is added to the bill. I've never run into this before and wasn't sure if this counted as added gratuity. If I ever find myself back in Seattle near Motif again, I'd probably be back for the rooftop views, fire pit & cocktails. read more

I went Monday with friends from Texas and I kept seeing posts of Frolik on Instagram, I wanted to try the place out so we went. The place is beautiful with a great view. We were sat quickly and Stephen was our server/bartender. He is such a nice guy and we actually found out he was our bartender after I was telling him that the Old Manhattan didn't make me gag! Seriously, friends always try to make me try that damn drink and I sip it and it takes like a sorry ass straight shot of whiskey. This drink was so delectable I wish I could've ordered it because I would've possibly bought like 4-5 and sipped them, but you know how crap scary it is leaving Seattle traffic so I had to go with something safe! I got the Whale drink and a delicious Mule drink with Pear (forgot the name it is on their cocktail list) I swear Stephen is a wizard like artist/magician whatever you want to call it, he is a Master in the Arts of presentation and drink making! Inside the Motif Hotel, which seems to sit on top of the English Pub-esque Elephant & Castle, is Frolik. This is a step up, literally and figuratively, from the typical hotel restaurant. The menu is relatively small and hosted the typical staple food options was pretty good. The waitress was fine. The ambience is okay. It was low-key. The restaurant was pretty famished of patrons. But, I am going to assume, this is a much more lively place with good weather, sunshine, and what I believe had an outdoor deck that over looks the Seattle hustle and bustle below. The struggle, which is would be concerned about is that Elephant & Castle is more prominent, much more visible, and thematically inviting soaks up the shoppers off the street. read more

This place was okay and not worth going to, especially bc there are many other great places around the area - in regards to customer service. Not great for a party of 6. I came in with a party of 6 on a Saturday night. The place was pretty empty, which we were fine with. They sat us outside on the patio, which had an awning so we wouldn't get wet from the rain. Unfortunately when we were about to order, Frolik would not accommodate, because our group wanted to couple up with the bills. It was confusing to us, because the whole restaurant was very empty (2 other tables). I would have understood if it was super busy. This place is... okay. The inside gives hotel bar vibes and the outdoor rooftop area is covered, but it looks like a plastic looking tarp during the rainy months (which, in Seattle, is most months). Kind of ruined the ambiance for me, and also kills the whole "rooftop bar" vibe. Their drinks are also only okay, nothing particularly impressive. I forgot what I had ordered but it came with a Pirouline wafer, which I think I enjoyed more than the drink itself. Our waitress was nice though, and brought me an extra Pirouline wafer when I asked for one :) Service overall was a bit on the slow side, even though there was only one other party outdoors (again, the plastic tarp wasn't very fun). Really confused at why the breakfast buffet was $42! When I checked into the hotel, they told me that i had a $15 credit for breakfast. Turns out that breakfast was $32 + 20% service fee and tax. So after the credit was applied, I still paid $27 + tip for a very mediocre breakfast. To think that anyone would pay $40 for that is beyond me. They didn't even have bacon or smoked salmon! First they limit your dining time making it appear like the place is happening, to turn tables quickly. We had a reservation for 7pm and the place was EMPTY. Maybe two other groups hanging out. We were told on the phone there wouldn't be any outside seating due to the popularity but there was plenty. Very limited menu, very overpriced, very poor service. During the 90 minutes I was there, the waiter stopped by once. On - and you pay for parking even though the place is in a hotel and you spend $22 for a drink. My feelings are mixed...food was delicious but service needs improvement. Also, PARK AT YOUR OWN RISK! They advertise for customers to park in the Motif garage on their website but they don't validate parking, so we learned the hard way. We made reservations but the restaurant wasn't busy on a Tuesday evening so you may not need one. We went during SRW so they had a good prix fixe menu with 2-3 options for each course, and it was a pretty good deal! I got the Burrata salad, Cioppino (delicious!!), and Tiramisu (amazing!)! We also had fiery nuts to share (highly recommend!). Happy hour is just a few dollars off their snacks and burgers, and discounts on beers and well alcohol, so nothing special. My friend and I were there for about an hour and a half because we felt very rushed by our server, so we didn't get to stay and chat like we had planned. We were in the middle of eating and my friend had a bit of food left on her plate when our server came up to us and grabbed the plate while asking if she was finished. My friend said no and had to physically grab her plate back from the server. She came around to me to ask if she could clear my dish but there was a fair amount left so I had to ask for a box. I assume that she is new and inexperienced, because these interactions made us very uncomfortable. I'd definitely like to come back for the food and hopefully see the view on a nicer day! read more
