A chill, upscale rooftop bar located inside the Charter Hotel -- it's a stone's throw from Pike Place Market if you're looking to plan a day in the Downtown and Belltown area. We were able to get a reservation for 10 for a friend's birthday, and were seated outdoors on their patio. I've been to a few rooftop bars in Seattle, and the view here is OK (depending on where you're sitting). We were there for sunset and the ambiance was super nice, but our view of the water was definitely blocked by a tall building. It's a bit on the pricier side, but that's to be expected for a rooftop anything. The service here is FANTASTIC -- our server asked everyone about their favorite spirits and made such thoughtful recommendations about what each person would like. Every single drink he recommended was a hit -- I got the Star and Shadow and loved the smokiness from the mezcal. It was great to sip on and overall felt like a nice place to lounge. If you're looking for a place with a nice view, comfy seating, and an impressive selection of specialty cocktails and hard to find spirits, this is a good option. If you don't mind paying pretty exorbitant prices. Located at the top of the Hilton Charter hotel about two blocks from Pike Place Market, on the 16th floor, note that there is very limited seating on the balcony. Service was good, but note that the establishment adds a mandatory 20% service charge which they claim they keep 4% of and pass the rest on to the staff. If you're staying at the hotel, the entire amount of the bill including the service charge can be applied against the daily $25 per day resort fee, but that's about the cost of one specialty cocktail. These are prices I'd expect in NYC, not Seattle, where the mixologist created cocktails are life-changing. Were these drinks life-changing? No. It's a stretch to even call them memorable. You're paying for the slightly upscale ambiance and massive selection, and the view. If you feel that's worth the price, you'll probably be happy. read more

Host was fantastic, friendly, happy , lovely to talk to . Staff all very attentive, water always full , plates cleared fairly quickly as most tables are smaller and you really need the space . Extensive drink menu , as a former bartender and manager it almost made my head spin. The bar is very impressive. Food was just average . We started with a dozen oysters . Which came almost immediately just dropped on the table no explanation of what type or locale. They where not Shucked with care at all , full of tinny shell shards and meat not separated from the shell at all . We spent more time trying to pry the meat from the shell with tiny oyster forks making each one a shredded mess. Charter plater / charcuterie board was ok nothing stood out and nothing fancy. We ended with a pretzel and cheese opting for the additional Brat . The whole plate lacked flavour again just ok . The drinks however where fantastic I enjoyed the flying home , an amazing smoky tequila mezcal concoction . My partner had a Squeeze me which she thoroughly enjoyed staying it was very light and refreshing . I come here quite often! It's a beautiful spot, I love the view and the ambiance. The DJ is freaking awesome! And the drinks are good as always. It's $$$ but I feel like for the atmosphere it's expected. Service is always friendly as well. However, I went last night pretty late because my shift ended late. We got there around 10:30pm and were seated immediately and got drinks. I went to order the Oysters and was informed they were out, which is fine I was going to something else until she waitress said "we are out of almost everything on the menu". How can you be out of everything on the menu on a Friday night?! I was shook. I was disappointed at this point. As soon as she came back around at 11:15ish she said it was time for last call- I decided to order something on the menu because I was hungry, and she said the kitchen was closed! That makes absolutely no sense closing the kitchen before last call? We decided to order a couple tequila shots and call it a night, we were disappointed and just wanted to leave. Took 20 minutes to get 2 shots. In the mean time- they were still seating people and they were ordering drinks?! Like What? How can you tell us it's last call but other people are being seated ordering drinks. As a restaurant employee myself- Management needs to change the pace of this bar. This is one of many rooftop bars in Seattle, and it is a great place for a date night out or just socializing with friends. We made reservations to be safe, but later at night on a weekday, it was not too busy. We were a party of 2 and got to lounge in a spacious set of sofas. We tried the Pharaoh's Dance (egg white based, somewhat average for $18), Squeeze Me (more fruit forward than alcohol focused), and Bebop (a combination of fruity and smoky). Honestly, the cocktails are just alright, nothing too special or standout that I would have expected paying this price point. I guess they charge more for rooftop bar setting, but the views are just okay - there are many apartment rooftops with superior views and this seems to cater more for tourists that normally likely won't know people in the area that can enter those apartment rooftops. This bar is quite loud so it could be hard to maintain a good conversation, but the ambience is there. I highly recommend making reservations on their website or walk in to sit at the bar. We were seated outside at a high top table facing the bay. I had not been here before, but coworkers were in town and stayed at the attached hotel recently. They insisted I come check out their swanky hotel lounge, so I obliged. I'm so glad I did! I had the rosemary fries (plenty to share!) My coworker had the Vietnamese style wings (and gave it a double thumbs up!) My other friend got the lamb skewers (just so-so with odd flavor to it). Asked the server to correct it. They processed another transaction and said the other one never went through, because they didn't "complete" the transaction. The credit card still shows 2 separate transactions. With another transaction, it was the correct amount on the receipt when i signed it, but the final amount was $10 more than what i signed for.They already adds a 20% service charge to your receipt so i didn't add additional tips. The Fog Room has some serious cocktails and views which makes it popular with visitors and locals alike. There are no signs for the place as it's inside the Charter Hotel, but once you arrive, you enter a large spacious room with some great views and peeks of the Sound. The bar is surprisingly well-stocked for a bar at a Hilton property (3 types of genever!). And the bartenders there were solid. Loved the classic cocktails choices on the menu, and I had some fun adding some more obscure liquor like Oka Kura Sake Vermouth into a Vesper. The place fills up quickly so it's a good idea to arrive early. Didn't have a chance to eat, but will definitely be back to try more drinks and food. read more

They have food, but we had just had dinner and were just in the mood for cocktails. They are a little pricy, but worth it for the ambience, view, and quality. I had something called the Rocker, that including bourbon, brandy, absinthe and more. It was really wonderful and complex. I usually order Old Fashions and this was superior, just a really great drink. My friend had something called a Pharoah's Dance with gin and citrus. She loved it, this was really good also. If you're trying to impress a first date or an out of town visitor, this is the place for you. Except it seems like that might be the only reason it'd be justifiable to come back. While the views here are amazing and the ambience is perfect for pretending to be Gatsby, the food and drinks were only mid quality and the prices were exorbitantly high. I came here last time with a friend who was staying at the hotel that this bar is located in, and he had a voucher to use here, so all our menu items were comped. We ordered like a strawberry rhubarb crisp with pink peppercorn ice cream, which was super unique but tasted about exactly how you'd imagine it. I'm not personally one to appreciate a spicy/sweet mixture, but if that's for you, then I can see someone like that really enjoying this flavor combination. We also ordered fries and oysters, neither of which were particularly impressive. The fries tasted like they were the frozen kind that had been reheated, which in itself isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it didn't line up with the expectations I had set for $8 fries. Like I mentioned above, the views were amazing. You get a perfect view of downtown Seattle, and the rooftop isn't too high where you can still feel like you're enveloped by the city. Coming in the evening, the city lights are beautiful to look out onto, and the indoor ambience matched as well. If you've ever been to Mr. Purple in NYC, the two bars kind of remind me of each other. Reviews seem to be somewhat mixed among others so I suppose I should note that I have been here three times between 2019 and 2024, all of them early evening around the time they open, which may have made it easier for staff to provide service that is within the range of good/decent. My biggest reason for posting a Yelp review, which I do not often do, is both the price range and the "tip." Cocktails run in the $18-$20 range, which is high even by Seattle standards; the appetizers--which are all they really offer currently in terms of food--are roughly between $14 and $20 or so, some a bit more I think, which is relatively standard. I wish I could be fully confident on the food prices except that I did not take a photo of the menu, and the Fog Room website features several menus with countless items no longer offered, a real pet peeve of mine: how hard is it to update a website? Why do places constantly allow their websites to be woefully outdated for ages? Having rotating menu items within the same price range is one thing, but Fog Room's website has menus for full dishes of a sort they are not offering at all; it is only small plates, which you would never know from looking at the website. And then there's the "20% service charge" that gets put on every bill whether you like it or not: it's very helfpul to be armed with this information going in, as it nullifies any need to add a tip. We were informed that this charge gets put into a pool tip for staff, minus 4% that the hotel takes. My companion added another 4% tip to account for this, which was very noble of her, but my total bill as high enough as it was--one side dish, two cocktails: with tax and service charge, over $70. It could be argued that this is nuts. Except! And I really cannot stress this enough. The cocktails were as delicious as they were beautifully presented (I had two mai tais). And the food was genuinely incredible (my companion and I split the bavarian pretzel and the mushroom quesadilla). Between all this and the spectacular city and Elliott Bay views from this 16th-floor rooftop bar, as well as the interior ambience that was lovely in its own right (if a bit loud once all the tables fill up), I have to admit--this was actually worth both the price and the inconvenience. I just need to find a way to remind myself to expect the high expense and the "service fee" the next time I come back, and to budget accordingly. read more
