What an absolute gem. I'm going to repeat everyone else here and declare that this is one of the better bars in Seattle--and perhaps the world. It's in a relatively quiet part of town and slightly hidden, but it's absolutely worth visiting (and becoming a regular, if that's your thing). Eric, the proprietor and usual bartender, is an awesome guy: friendly, mixes a good cocktail, and remembers faces and what people like to drink. The place is small, but if you get there in the late afternoon you'll never have trouble finding a place to sit. Eric often has on playlists with 80's and 90's rock music which is awesome, and the place has a cozy, chill vibe. And last but certainly not least, let's talk about the food. I'm slightly reluctant to share this since I don't want the whole of Seattle swarming this place, but as others have pointed out the mac and cheese here is next level. In fact, who am I kidding, it's honestly the best I've ever had. The Toledo is an outstanding business to support, and one of the best bars I've ever been to. Alright, a couple years later and this is officially my favorite local pub. It's not overrun by tech bros which is a miracle for this part of town. Friendly bartenders and kitchen staff who know people by name. No deep fryer on the premises, so the food doesn't weigh on your gut too much. Nice rotation of beers that change out just frequent enough that you won't get bored, but not so frequently that you feel like it's a brand new bar every time you go. Same for the food - they've got a consistent menu plus some rotating specials. Covered patio has 2 picnic tables and a few round tops; one of the picnic tables has a functioning heater during the colder months. This tucked away dive bar has so much personality! It's places like these that make me love exploring Seattle! Their food was pretty tasty and for a super reasonable price! I love that everything we ordered came with chips and pickles. The pickles are too sweet for me, but it seems popular here as it is it's own item on the menu! How lucky am I that I can walk down the street to this hidden speak easy bar? Look for the pot shop on the corner, and walk a few feet to the side door and you've arrived. Funky, dark, small bar, but tables inside and outside on their patio. Dog friendly, food offerings, origami paper for you to hone your craft, or watch some sports on the flat screen. First time in my life seeing a bartender so impaired, that he was unable to walk straight, complete a full sentence or even grab a bottle because of being so intoxicated. He got into a verbal fight with other clients who simply asked him to come behind the bar after he was sitting with patrons for an extended amount of time. The guy is clearly unwell and should have never been behind the bar, management that's on you. As a person alone, I felt extremely unsafe there, everyone present was over poured, no one was in charge. And yes this is the Toledo, same place everyone raves about for daytime drinking. This is my favorite bar out of all the bars I've been to. Seattle cider is on tap, and is delicious. The Nachos are to die for. The Mac and cheese is awesome. Capresse bites are nice and light, perfect for an evening snack. The staff are super nice, and really seem to care about your experience. The Chicken Tenders are the number one thing I've tried.
