    Buttermilk Fried Chicken Katsu

The customer service here was great. Our cashier who helped us was patient and friendly. She helped make a suggestion when I couldn't decide on the mochiko chicken or the basil chicken. She suggested I could get both. Which is what I decided on. It was basically the same boneless fried chicken breast cut into pieces with two separate sauces and toppings. In older photos of the basil chicken it was more of a whole chicken thigh and leg. Which appeared to be baked to crispness. I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't the same as that previous pictured version. We also ordered a side of fried rice which came with Chinese sausage and was topped with the cabbage slaw. That was my favorite dish of the meal. There are various offerings of pre-portioned sauces such as sambal, katsu sauce, etc...there was one with fish sauce that had me at hello lol. It was nice to try a few. All were quite delicious. Portions were generous and the plate came with rice, Mac salad, and a cabbage slaw. The Mochiko had a Korean spicy style red sauce which was more a flavor profile than spicy in heat. The basil chicken tasted like a soy based sauce. Unfortunately they were all out of banana pudding and haupia pie when we arrived around late afternoon. I've sampled many a plate lunches. My mains and sides were good. Good, but didn't make an impression upon me personally. That doesn't mean I wouldn't come back to try different dishes to see if I may like something more than my particular dish on this visit. Glad I gave em a try while in town. I'm always on the lookout for island style plate lunch spots.

Buddha Bruddah is an awesome lunch spot for Hawaiian food. Fresh, flavorful ingredients - my favorites are the grilled mahi mahi, the pad see ew, and the combo plates. They have a sauce bar with seven (7) different sauces like crying tiger, nuoc cham, sambal, and old standbys like siracha and teriyaki for those so inclined. I prefer adding any of the lime & fish sauce based sauces to my meals. Yum!

Bern awhile since I wrote a review generous portion on the Kalua pork, i decided to be a little healthier today and went with the garlic shrimp. There are soft whole cloves of garlic that add an umami to the dish. I think the chicken dishes are still my favorite and I like the slaw that comes with the entrees. Finally broke down and tried the banana cream pie that we heard a out at our first visit. Definitely is tasty!

I ordered the Loco Moco. Burger was char grilled giving it a great flavor. I decided to only order one scoop of rice because 2 scoops would have been way too much. I suggest order extra gravy and an extra egg. We ordered online and the food was on time and hot. Inside the restaurant was clean and service was good.

4.5 stars for food, and 4 stars for the casual whole dining experience. Order at the counter, and then grab any empty table; someone will bring the food to your table. Food took 15-20 minutes after ordering. I was pleasantly surprised by the food. My favorite was the Garlic Basil Fried Chicken - so juicy and tender, and great flavor. I like to try Garlic Fried Chicken at different Thai restaurants. And this version is amongst the best I've tried. So trust me when I say "get it!" Both Loco Moco (comes with a runny egg) and Kalua Pork are good too. Some interesting beer selection, like mango or coconut ale. There are also coconut pie and chocolate pie for dessert.

Some good asian fusion food! I got to try Buddha Bruddah via take out and the dishes were craveworthy. I got the Fried Chicken Mochiko and Huli Huli Chicken. The fried chicken was a delight with some gochujang aioli, giving it a spicy kick. The Huli Huli Chicken was solid grilled chicken with a bed of rice and coleslaw. Both were delicious, but my favorite was the Fried Chicken Mochiko, I really enjoyed the crispy chicken with the gochujang aioli. Overall, this is a solid spot and the portions were great for each dish.

Huli huli chicken and hawaiian grilled beef combo platter

We ordered takeout on a Monday night. I had heard good things, but haven't had time to try them. The picture of their loco moco looked less traditional so we ordered a combo beef/chicken and a spicy pork platter. Their fried chicken also looked good, but we didn't think it would transport well. The portions were BIG. It was adequate to feed us, our baby and made lunch for the next day. The price was about 15-20 a plate so pretty average, but the value with the portions were great! The food itself was tasty, but maybe a little more korean than hawaiian. It was well seasoned and cooked well. The chicken was a little dry for my liking, but the flavor was good. It came with 2 scoops of rice and a scoop of mac salad. The mac salad was one of my favorites in seattle so far and the warm rice went so well with everything. Since we didn't eat in, I cannot comment on the service unfortunately, but maybe we can someday soon. Overall, good eats, maybe not just hawaiian, more korean, but delightful and well portioned. I would recommend this if you are looking for some tasty plates.

Today, we went to Buddha Bruddah for dinner! Right upon entry, we were greeted with kind smiles, and great attitudes. My partner and I both got combo plates. Each combo plate comes with your choice of meat, two scoops of jasmine rice, coleslaw, and Mac salad. Every dish was a five out of five - great flavors and portions! The dining room was clean, and towards the side there were various options of sauces to dip! Would recommend!

This is a cool Hawaiian/Asian Fusion spot in, I believe, the Mt. baker area. We were craving rice and some Asian flavors so we chose this place for dinner. We got the huli-huli chicken and short rib combo and the spicy sesame chicken plate. The huli-huli chicken was flavorful, but it's not as moist as the HH chicken at other places. The short ribs were delicious, but the sauce just seemed like super regular teriyaki sauce. I did like some of the charred parts of the short ribs! I liked the spicy sesame chicken a bit more than the other plate. The chicken was more moist, the batter was not too thick and was still crispy despite the generous sauce. It wasn't too spicy for me either! The space is pretty cool and the vibe is chill. The lady working the cashier was nice and didn't seem annoyed when I asked for a few things several times! This is a solid Hawaiian spot in the area!

Wow! We ordered the Loco Moco, Chicken Katsu, Spicy Sesame Chicken. The sides and everything was tastie. I highly recommend.

    Buttermilk Fried Chicken Katsu

The food was great for the most part! I ordered 4 plates two of which were chicken katsu however one of them came with hair underneath the breading of the chicken, as if it was cooked with the hair already in there. I've ate from here multiple times and have always loved the food and service! so I know this isn't a common occurrence however it did leave a sour taste in my mouth and I would hope they take better action to prevent getting hair in items again.

I am surprised I have yet to review this place as this is one of my go to spots. The food is delicious, the portions are big and it is a great local business that helps their employees. Their original location on Rainier is a go to pickup spot for me but their food truck is frequently visiting the Eastside at places like No Boat or Volition Brewing and I often go there on weekends after a hike plus they are also opening up a new location in Kirkland too and I am very happy for them. You really can't go wrong with any of the food. I have tried many different items like their Huli Huli Chicken, Hawaiian Beef, Pad Thai, Kalua Pork amongst others. My absolute favorite thing I've had here was Uncle Hong's Fried Chicken, I had that back in September and if I see their Instagram post it again then I will drop whatever dinner plans I had to make sure I get some more of it because it was bomb! All of their plates comes with rice, mac salad and Asian slaw. The mac salad is delicious which is always a good sign as when I was in Hawaii I noticed the more legit places typically had the best mac salad too and their Asian slaw has a nice sesame flavor to it. They also have a variety of sauces that add lots of flavor to the dish. I usually just go for some sambal on my rice but they have different fish sauce combinations as well. A few items I have yet to try yet that I need to try are their loco moco, some of their seafood and their famous pie (specifically the banana cream is what I have my eye on). Rest assured I will be back to try those items though and if you have not checked out this spot then I strongly recommend it!

He offered great menu suggestions and shared the story behind the restaurant--his brother designed the space, and he built it with the help of friends, which made the experience feel even more special. The menu is Thai-forward with a few standout dishes from other Asian cuisines mixed in thoughtfully. The décor is gorgeous--an elevated, glamorous tribute to the water buffalo that feels bold yet refined. We ordered the Miang Kham, Crying Tiger, and Mango Salad. I always order Miang Kham when I see it since it's such a rare find, and this one was excellent. The Crying Tiger was tasty but came out more well done than the medium-rare we ordered. That said, we still finished it because the dipping sauce was fantastic and the purple-and-white sticky rice was delicious. The Mango Salad was beautifully prepared with shredded mango that had just the right crunch and tartness. Generous portions served. Even during a busy late afternoon, the chef handled guests with ease and a big smile, serving beautifully executed dishes and cocktails. Very impressive. We'll definitely be bringing friends here next time we're in Seattle. Tip: They do true Thai spice levels here--proceed with caution."

Back to my rave: this place is comfy and a great place to just sit in when it's chilly outside. There's a comfy couch near the entrance, many knickknacks strewn around the inside and it's brightly lit to the point where you feel like you're at home instead of a cafe. The owner of the place is very sweet and welcoming, and the pastries shown around the area looked so delicious. For this visit, my friend and I got the Thai green tea latte, key lime tea, egg tart and a slice of tiramisu crepe cake. The egg tart was warm and yummy, and quite big too so it has a mochi-like layer inside it. The tiramisu crepe cake had tons of layers of crepe and cream along with the tiramisu powder sprinkled on top. This was creamy, delightful and calming all around, that's how good this cake was! My key lime tea is a mix of Thai tea and fresh lime juice, and I'm surprised that neither part interfered with each other too much given one is sweet and the other relatively sour. The Thai green tea latte was just as great to drink. This place is so cozy and cute, and the owner gave us great service. When you do find parking, come here for some drinks and desserts, it'll be worth it!

Strawberry Snowie Frappe - it's a solid dessert. Very sweet and likely double blended because it's not super icy, rather the liquid collects at the bottom. However the icy blend at the top wasn't watery either, there was still some flavor. Overall, it was as expected, but a decent refresher on this street.

I was a bit worried about going without a reservation, but when we arrived a bit past noon, the place was only around half full. Seems like it's way more popular for dinner! Fried chickenJOY + Gravy + Waffle ($31) - The chicken is heavily breaded and crisped up nicely in fryer, giving a very robust crunch. It's completely dark meat chicken and cut into pieces for easy eating. I especially love how they have pieces of fatty breaded skin floating around. I actually like the skin more than the meat given that the interior is on the dry end of things. It's surprising given the more forgiving nature of thigh and Musang's reputation. The waffle is quite unique. It has kind of a gritty interior but the texture is otherwise interesting due to the mochi-like rice flour chew. While it has the Ideal crisp exterior, the interior is dense and dry. It really needs moisture to liven things up. The moisture comes in two forms. Firstly, fragrant sweet and citrusy syrup. It's not so much of a liquid as a thickened honey. Fantastic flavor, but the small drizzle isn't enough for the mass of waffle! Secondly there's a side bowl of typical brown gravy. It's unfortunately served at room temperature, which gives it time to become lumpy and congealed. Meh. (4/5) Short Rib Beef Tapa Silog ($24.50) - Served on a trimmed circular banana leaf, this dish comes with a variety of different things. The star of the show is supposed to be the short rib. They include two large slices, which are very fatty and tender and give off an exceptional smokiness. The taste is very similar to Korean galbi with a sweet soy umami. It's far too salty though. I had to have my glass of water refilled four times after eating about 3/4 of a piece. All 3 of my dining companions tried the short rib and agreed it was way too salty. My wife and I ended up not finishing this dish because we were so bloated with how much water we had to drink. This level of saltiness is okay if there's enough other stuff, preferably more bland, on the plate to counteract the saltiness. In this case, there's only a small scoop of peppery and garlicky rice. It has very distinct grains and fantastic mouthfeel. Unfortunately that small scoop isn't nearly enough for the dish as a whole. There should be way more rice, like at least 3x or 4x for the amount of meat. There are some atchara pickles, which I originally thought were thinly sliced daikon pickled mixed with carrot. It's well pickled and tastes totally different from pickled daikon given the mellow fruity note. There's also some vinegar dip. Combined with the pickles, it's enough acid to cut through the fattiness of the short rib, but both are relatively salty, which boosts the sodium levels through the roof. (4/5) I was expecting to be blown away by the food at Musang given all the accolades and high ratings. The flavors are there, but I came out a little underwhelmed due to some of the major technical flaws in the food. Unfortunately the quality for price ratio just isn't there. Perhaps dinner service is higher quality? Bathrooms - Single unisex room Note: Musang charges a 22% service charge. This is noted on the menu
