I haven't explored Queen Anne much since living in Seattle, so today felt like the perfect day to do so. Such a cute little area. They have an extensive menu here, so it would be rather Difficult to find something that you didn't like. I obviously had to get a thai iced tea. This one was excellent. No notes. It came out quickly, and it was the perfect sweetness level for me. kaley had the pad Thai. She said it was delicious and hit the spot. We were both ravenous, so there was not much sharing done. I had chiang mai curry noodle dish. This was excellent. The broth was flavorful and creamy. The egg noodles were good. Normally, I'm a then noodle gal, and these were a little thicker than I would've preferred, But they actually virtually well with the dish. I also enjoyed the pickled veggies at this dish came with. Big pickled veggie scale, so they could do no wrong with this addition. I would love to go back and get some of their appetizers and other dishes Because there were more than a few things that I wanted to try. Isarn Thai has several locations in the Washington area, and I had high hopes for some decent Thai cuisine. I'm going to cut to the chase - I was downright disappointed. I ordered the Lamb Massanam with Roti. It sounded delectable on the menu, and as a lamb enthusiast, I did not hesitate to order it. It was the worst lamb dish I've had in recent memory. At least in the Washington state area. It was practically inedible and way too overcooked. My friend also ordered the same dish, and we acknowledged each other in unison, shaking our heads in sheer disappointment. The broth was nice, and it was good pairing with the roti and white rice. But the lamb was a sheer and utter disaster. Way too overcooked and the meat tasted old. So sinewy and dry, and it had no resemblance of the lamb flavor. Maybe it was a bad batch, sure. But I left the restaurant feeling so dissatisfied and angry that I paid that much for a poorly executed dish. That lamb was not good at all. 2 stars, just because I feel like the other dishes probably met expectations. But wow, what a disappointment. read more

I was hopeful the take out meals, phad see eiw and phad mee kao, would be delicious and easy on the stomach. It was very greasy and the level 2 spicy was like a 6/10, which i do realize is middle of the ground for measuring since they only offer 1-3. The chicken was not coated in any sauce and neither were the vegetables. Its like they made the noodles in the sauce then conveyer-lined the to-go box through the cut up veggie window. The phad see eiw was a level 0 for spicy and very bland. Almost no sauce at all. The phad mee kao was drowning in onions to make it look like more food and did not have much meat. The spice level for a 2 was decent and it had some flavor, but again its like the veg were an after thought and just dumped in, no sauce. As for being ready on time, yes it was, and it was still hot once I got home about 10 min away. I felt queasy after eating because of how much grease was on the noodles. I didnt realize it was that until 1/3 of the way through since I assumed it was sauce and I was starving. I will not be trying this place again. There are too many other consistent and tasty thai places in the area to give them a second chance. read more

I really wanted to give Isarn Thai Soul Kitchen a higher rating because honestly, the food was incredible. Every dish was full of flavor, fresh, and exactly what you hope for when you go out for great Thai food. The ambiance was just as impressive; beautiful space, great energy, and somewhere you genuinely enjoy spending time. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the quality of everything else. The drinks took a long time to come out, and there were mistakes with our order that shouldn't have happened. It also seemed like there was a bit of a language barrier, which made communication more difficult than it needed to be. You could tell they were trying, but the overall experience suffered because of it. The wait times were honestly HORRIBLE! It's disappointing because when the food and atmosphere are this good, you want the service to complete the experience, not take away from it. I truly believe this place has the potential to be a 5-star restaurant but good food alone isn't enough. Service matters just as much!! Isarn has become our new go-to Thai place in the area, especially when we are wanting a little more than your average take-out Thai. Isarn's flavors and menu are unique and I have yet to have an item that I did not enjoy. We have done both take out and dine in here. I would recommend dine in if you have the chance as Isarn also has a great cocktail menu and having the food fresh out of the kitchen is great, but most of the items are also take out friendly. They don't accept reservations for parties less than 6, and this place can get busy especially on weekends, so eat early if you can to beat the crowd. The staff is always friendly and helpful and it is a polished, modern restaurant that feels both laid back, but like a nice place for a decent date night. If I have I recommend one item, the tropical curry is phenomenal! The pineapple and lychee in the curry really come through and it just adds this additional layer to the curry that is unique to any other curry I have tried before. But, I have not had anything on the menu I have not enjoyed so highly recommend stopping by here sometime! read more

The portion of chicken was huge; I couldn't even finish it and honestly felt like it was enough for two meals. The tofu was perfectly cooked and the fish was full of vegetables. The noodles were thick,juicy, and saucy. We also got the red curry with tofu. The flavor was rich and bold. We got spice level one which wasn't too spicy at all but very flavorful. The tofu on this one wasn't our favorite. We will order chicken or vegetables with this next time. Both portions are large. My wife and I have been devoted fans of Isarn Thai Soul Kitchen for years, especially their Kirkland and Lynnwood locations, so we were excited to try the Queen Anne spot. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and we were looking forward to the bold flavors we've come to love. The visit started off a bit oddly. The front desk server, Tar, asked to see my wife's ID--even though she's 36 years old and we weren't seated in the bar area. It felt inconsistent, especially since younger guests nearby weren't asked, and it's something we've never experienced at their other locations. Unfortunately, moments like that made us feel singled out, and honestly it sometimes feels like they tend to pick on Asians, whether intentional or not. That feeling alone made the experience uncomfortable and will likely make this our last visit to this location. That said, the table service was excellent. Moo took great care of us, and Cece from the bar was attentive and kept our water filled throughout the meal. Unfortunately, there were a few moments that took away from the experience. While I was taking photos of our dishes, a young staff member alongside Tar appeared to be giggling and mocking me, which made things uncomfortable. It may not have been intentional, but it didn't feel professional and only added to the awkward atmosphere we already felt. Food-wise, there were some inconsistencies. The chicken didn't taste as good as we remember, and several plates had visible fingerprints, which was off-putting. The galvanized metal plates also gave off a slightly unrefined feel--more like cafeteria-style serving ware. Additionally, the sticky rice, which is usually presented in a traditional bamboo basket, was served in a Ziploc bag, which felt like a downgrade in presentation. On a positive note, the papaya salad and pad Thai were still very good and delivered the flavors we expect. We'll continue supporting Isarn, but we'll likely return to the Kirkland or Lynnwood locations next time. Sadly, after this experience, this Queen Anne visit will probably be our last. read more

I have the Amex Gold card, which includes Grubhub and Uber Eats credits. I tried placing an Uber Eats order, but the restaurant wasn't accepting requests. My boyfriend called to ask if their storefront would be back online soon, but they told him they no longer use Uber Eats and to order on Grubhub instead. When I checked Grubhub, they only listed vegan Pad See Ew. My boyfriend called back to ask if they planned to add the regular version or if we could order the vegan one and pay the difference to swap the tofu for meat. The employee rudely dismissed him, saying there was nothing he could do and telling us to use DoorDash instead. I used to love this place and frequently recommended it to my colleagues, but this experience left a bad taste in my mouth. It's time to find a new Thai spot. Goodbye and good riddance. read more

Had an excellent experience at Isarn. We sat at the bar and they had an NBA TV segment on the tv showing Gary Payton highlights - a very Seattle experience. We started with happy hour drinks and wings. We liked the Mini Wings much more than the Lemongrass wings. I got the Crab Stir Fried with Yellow Curry and Jasmine Rice and loved it. We had a wonderful visit to Kerry Park and I was in the mood for some thai food. My friend recommended this place so I thought I'd give it a try. Definitely did not regret! The Northern sweet curry is very flavorful and flagrant. One bite of the curry soaked in with the rice and a piece of meat and it put an instant smile to my face. It says sweet in the title but it's not that sweet. There's also a chili pepper sign next to it, but it's not that spicy either. I would probably ask them to make it spicier next time! Pad see ew had really soft and tender noodles with excellent flavor and the tofu texture is perfectly cooked. This is the most delicious pad see ew I've had in recent memory. The interior is really modern and beautiful design with plenty of comfy chairs. I love the soft and relaxing music that completes the vibe! The service is absolutely amazing here. We ordered quite a feast, and it's a fantastic spot if you're looking for flavorful vegetarian options. We got the tofu fried rice, garlic mushrooms, pad thai, and thai basil tofu. I did think the pork belly stew wasn't anything special, especially since the hard boiled eggs were kind of dry and didn't add much to the dish. I love Isarn! They have maybe locations throughout the greater Seattle area. This Queen Anne location in particular is in such a cute part of town. Decor inside the restaurant was also super vibey. Parking was not too hard to find. There's a lot of street parking or you can park in the neighborhoods close by. We came in at 5 o'clock on a Sunday with a party of four and got seated right away, but the restaurant quickly filled up afterward. They have an amazing happy hour menu! We got the Isarn mini wings, red curry and pad kee Mao with beef. All of the dishes were full of flavor and super tasty. I really like the rice in particular this day. Food came out super quick + service was very friendly and helpful. Only docking one star off because the meal overall was pretty heavy on salt. The street food is really good here and all the chicken was really well cooked -- no dry chicken like you find in a lot of thai restaurants here. If you're in the mood for soggy noodles, zero flavor, and the culinary equivalent of giving up on life, this is your place. I ordered Pad Thai and specifically asked for it cooked dry with high heat and actual wok sear -- the bare minimum for a halfway competent Thai kitchen. What I got looked and tasted like someone boiled a box of rice noodles, forgot about them, dumped sugar on top, and said "good enough." The noodles were a wet, clumpy mess. Zero char. Zero wok hei. Zero technique. The prawns tasted like they'd been steamed yesterday and stored under a heat lamp. Even the onions were barely cooked. For the price I paid, this was insulting. If this is what they're sending out, I honestly don't know how they stay in business. Seattle has too many great Thai restaurants to settle for this level of mediocrity. Save your money. Northern Thai Leaf Cup Nibbles (Miang Kum) - 5/5 These were incredibly flavorful and refreshing, just like the ones you'd find in Thailand. My Thai parents couldn't get enough of these. Isarn Noodles with Coconut Milk - 5/5 An explosion of taste. We got it with tofu as it's traditionally served this way in Thailand. Fried Rice with Crab Meat - 4/5 The rice is a little too wet for our taste. There was only a small amount of crab, but it's understandable given that it's one of the least expensive crab fried rice I've seen in the States. Corn Salad with Young Coconut - 4/5 Tasty, though the spice level we chose (2 out of 3) wasn't spicy at all. A more granular spice scale would be helpful, perhaps with 5 levels instead of 3. Isarn Pork Sausage - 3/5 I usually enjoy Isarn Sausage, but this one was off, possibly a bit stale. The presentation was on point though. Crab Stir Fried with Yellow Curry (Boo Pad Pong Garee) - 2/5 Disappointing. It was quite sweet and lacked depth. The crab was sparse, but again that's to be expected given the price.
