    Salmon lover bento
    Jinny C.

Very standard place based on the salmon bento I tried. The salmon was fresh and they seem to try to provide a variety in the bento but the poke barely had any flavor so it didn't differ much from the sashimi. The other reviews seem to speak more favorably about the bowls so maybe I ordered the wrong thing. The place is a small shop with just a counter to order at and there are a few tables and chairs outside.

Donburi house is a great place to grab a quick lunch. Lines were long on a weekday but service was still very quick. The fish was very fresh and the poke sauces are great. I particularly liked the little pickles in the side. There is seating right outside the restaurant with several tables and chairs but also along the stone steps. Overall would recommend checking it out for a quick bite!

I absolutely love their seared salmon lover bento! This bento is presented very beautifully too! I've also tried their baked salmon bento and it wasn't my favorite.

Ordered Miso Ramen * 2 Hot - and requested for a vegetarian meal however the meal had not pork broth but meat in it. Service was not upto the mark and ambience is alright.

Great lunch spot if you work close to 4th and Madison! It's a very small restaurant with only a couple seats for people waiting for their food - no indoor seating. We ordered the salon lover bento (seared) and the gyudon to share and were happily surprised how large the portions were especially the gyudon. Everything was really good and even thought they didn't have seating, we just took our food into the building next door which had plenty of lobby seating with tables. We'll be back!

    Chicken karage

Food- very well balanced rice to fish ratio and well cooked for chicken karage. Also they are using the chicken thighs so its much more tender it was perfectly fried. Service- Service was very nicely handled. Server knew what he was doing. Ambiance- is very clean and small and cute. Do not have inside seating but have yellow small tables and chairs to sit. It is more like a place where you togo and pick it up.

It's most appreciated to have another option of places to get lunch in this dissolute part of downtown. I tried this place after hearing about it from a coworker and it was fairly decent. I enjoyed the baked salmon bento that I got and it surprisingly filled me up well. It didn't look like it would at first, but I was very content with the meal. The baked salmon was very saucy and a bit spicy which I did not expect. It was good though. They have a variety of dishes here like poke bowls, bentos, salads, and even ramen! The service was pretty fast, but I went around the later end of the lunch hour and they're still new so I expect the crowds to show up fairly soon once they hear news of this spot. So this is mainly a take out spot since there isn't a real place to sit inside. There are tables outside surrounding the building they are at, so you don't have to go back to the office to eat necessarily. It's a easy quick pick up if you order online. I'll probably do that in the future when the crowds show. I'll be back to try the rest of the menu for sure.

First time in the area and I came across this location. It's a small shop that's ideal for take out orders only. They got many selections here including noodles or tofu o

    Sunrise bowl and miso soup

I came here with high expectations based on the reviews. I thought the fish cuts were decently thick, but the sauce is a bit one noted. I ordered it with both unagi sauce and spicy mayo to try, but it seems like I only got unagi sauce. I wish the salad came separate from the hot rice and with dressing. The miso soup however was a bit too salty. The tofu pieces had an interesting texture, almost cream-like. It's not bad but it's the first time I've had tofu like that. At the time of my visit, some items that I saw pictures of online were not available (e.g., spam musubi). When I asked, the lady who worked there said some items were unavailable. That said, I then saw a notice explaining the situation and that the restaurant would offer a miso soup as courtesy. The lady did not offer it to me, and only gave it after I asked. This made me feel a bit a bit cheated... Then, there's another notice that a 10% discount is given if you post a review of the restaurant . I did not claim the discount because I want to give a review after I've (paid for) and tried the food. I thought this was an odd choice, given that many restaurants give you a discount for a Yelp checkin not an actual review.

Onigiris were so good! I love the fillings and how they don't fall apart. Super affordable so they are perfect for a quick lunch and I also love their pickles and the side egg. All of the workers are super nice too. Very excited that this place is close to home now! :) looking forward to trying all of the menu

Gyudon with salad on the side

Third time here. So much better than the other time I ordered it. Not a fan of lettuce in a hot bowl so asked for salad on the side. Cashier didn't flinch and put the order in perfectly. This time it seemed like I got more meat. The first time it was a lot of onions. Love it!

    Gyudon bowl
    Andy B.

Overall, I thought this was alright, but nothing special. I got the gyudon bowl (because they were temporarily out of all bentos). For a place with "Donburi" in its name, the food doesn't really resemble traditional Japanese donburi, but maybe that's not what their aim is. I'll concede that point. Back to my gyudon: the beef was more stringy and shredded, rather than cut, so the texture felt off. As others have reported, wilted, soggy lettuce is buried halfway down and off to the side, for some reason. Flavor was average--it didn't blow me away. Portion size was decent. For the cost (upwards of $15), I didn't think this was worth it though. Maybe in a pinch. At least service was fast.

Placed an online order for their Meat Lovers bento. It was good, nothing exceptional. For $20+ a bit pricey for a bento box honestly.

They don't take phone calls or reservations online - very old school. Which I think makes it more desirable. We ended up getting a special room with a "chabudai" style table! I was super excited because I've never experienced it before. What I did find pleasant was that although it was a lower table, there was an opening beneath the table that allowed your legs to hang rather than having to sit Indian style. Tyson was an amazing server. Was attentive, accommodated our allergies and was thoughtful with us having a young child. He was so pleasant and polite! We enjoyed the following: Baked miso glazed eggplant - YUM and melts in your mouth. Black Miso Cod Collar - this was pleasantly surprising and so delicious. Eat bite was tender and flavorful. Simple yet so appetizing. Sushi rolls were both fresh and well prepared. The nigiri was also great and fresh- not fishy. We additionally ordered takoyaki - which I normally don't love but this one was very tasty and I enjoyed the texture. Lastly karage chicken which came with a creamy slaw. Overall it was such a pleasant experience and we look forward to coming back!

I sat at the sushi bar as it was just myself. For lunch, I opted in for the Power Lunch and it was fantastic. Served with 5 pieces of nigiri, seared salmon, miso soup, salad, edamame and more. When we were seated, there were only about three other occupied tables, all with couples. Two of those tables were already being served their food. We placed our order, but our food didn't arrive for about an hour despite the restaurant appearing to be fully staffed. To make matters worse, multiple tables that were seated after us received their food before we did. The long wait might have been easier to overlook if the food had been worth it, but it wasn't. I ordered the seven-piece sushi assortment with a baked crab roll, and more than four pieces of the fish were still partially frozen. The fish did not taste fresh, which was especially disappointing after such a long wait. An hour to assemble seven pieces of sushi seemed excessive. Seeing that more than half of the fish was still partially frozen made the hour-long wait make a lot more sense. Maybe they were waiting for it to defrost before serving it. My sister ordered a baked crab roll and two pieces of seared snow crab. The seared snow crab was completely forgotten until I had already finished my meal. We had to remind the staff before they rushed to prepare it. The baked crab roll itself was decent, but the combination of the extremely slow service, disorganized order handling, partially frozen fish, and forgetting an entire dish until we asked about it means we won't be returning.
