I went here for happy hour which is 2:30-4:30pm - a bit hard to make if you want to enjoy the discounts for a standard meal but we had a late start in the day so it worked out well. Parking is easy with a small dedicated parking lot for the restaurant. We got a lychee martini off the regular menu and got the rest of the food on the happy hour menu - spicy crunchy California roll, deep fried spicy tuna roll, salmon skin roll, spicy garlic fried chicken, and salmon skewer with noodle. The cocktail was fairly good - I am not a fan of the small chunks of ice but I liked the presentation with the addition of the chia seed The rolls were okay. $10.99 for 5 pieces in the first round is not any cheaper than a standard roll at other places, but there were 6 pieces in the deep fried spicy tuna roll in the second round. I like the spicy crunchy California roll but there was a bit too much spicy mayo. The garlic fried chicken is basically karaage with ginger garlic sauce so cross checking the regular menu, you're not really saving any money. The salmon skewer in noodle is okay price as the portion is really small. The salmon is good. TLDR: Great Staff, Great ambiance, AMAZING food! I recently had a wonderful dining experience at Migoto in Seattle and I wholeheartedly recommend it. As out-of-state visitors, we were eager to try some quality sushi in the city known for its fish. After searching for sushi places near our Airbnb that were open around 7:30pm and didn't break the bank, we stumbled upon Migoto. Initially, I hesitated due to the slightly higher prices for basic rolls, but I am SOO glad we decided to give it a try. Parking in Seattle sucks, so when we got there and saw that Migoto has a small private lot for its customers, that already made the slightly higher prices worthwhile! From the moment we walked in, the staff was friendly and helpful. We were seated on the back patio, which had a pleasant cozy ambiance even the small flowers on the table were real. While we originally came for basic rolls, I was pleasantly surprised to find omakase on the menu starting at $60. I had always wanted to try omakase, so I inquired about it with our waiter, Khoi. He patiently explained how it worked: you inform the waiter of your budget and preference for nigiri or sashimi, and the chef takes care of the rest. If you start with the $60 price point but decide you are still hungry later on they can also just add more later on! To accompany our meal, I ordered the lychee martini, which was delicious. It had real lychee and the alcohol flavor wasn't too strong. Now, let's talk about the highlight: the fish. The quality was impressive. Each piece melted in your mouth with a smooth texture. Even my boyfriend, who isn't a normally a fan of nigiri, enjoyed the fish here. The only qualm I had with the experience, is that I wish they went over what kinda of fish the chef used that day for the omakase. Everything in the omakase was delicious but sadly I also didn't know what kind of fish I was eating. As for the rolls, the prices for the basic rolls ended up actually being cheaper than the photo we saw on Yelp! It must've been an old photo we saw. Anyways, we tried the spicy tuna and Pacific rolls. The jalapeño added a nice subtle kick, and the garlic ponzu was refreshing. The staff remained attentive throughout our visit, checking on us regularly and providing friendly service. I also appreciate how the staff were able to make last minute accommodations for my birthday. My boyfriend asked the staff if they do anything for birthday celebrations while I was away from the table and the waiter, Khoi, said he would make it happen. Khoi did not disappoint! He came out with a slice of cranberry cheesecake and even a birthday candle! It was a thoughtful touch that made me feel special as a customer. Overall, Migoto is a fantastic sushi restaurant in Seattle. The fish quality, friendly staff, private parking, and the opportunity to try omakase make it worth a visit. I wasn't sure what to expect when I first looked Migoto up: the recent Yelp reviews were good, but my friends who lived nearby said they'd tried it a few years ago and thought it was "sub-par." The menu has standard Japanese fair (donburi, assorted nigiri and sushi rolls) but the prices seemed higher than average. I wasn't sure if it was going to be a small, casual diner or a fancy sushi bar. Luckily, it was right in the middle. And the food was good! The interior is small but has a surprisingly good amount of tables (around 10) and a sushi bar. It it has the feeling of moody bar, dimly lit and decorated with tall birch branches lit by white fairy lights, blue green and red LEDs, walnut wood with black accents. They were playing groovy instrumental music too. However, despite the modern bar atmosphere, it still felt casual enough, and not too intimidating for me to walk in with my plain t-shirt and jeans. It wasn't crowded on a Sunday night and there was a good mix of a middle aged group, a couple of drag queens, a few couples, and me, Japanese girl stuffing my face at the bar. The staff were also very friendly and accommodating, and the sushi chef was having a lively discussion with the couple seated at the bar. I ordered: - Yuzu Classic (shochu & yuzu cocktail) - Chirashi (rice bowl with assorted raw fish) - Uni nigiri ($12 seasonal) One note: The chirashi bowl was delicious, the fish was very fresh, and the tilted bowl made for a beautiful presentation. However, the slanted bowl made it a bit difficult to eat with the constant risk of accidentally pushing the food out onto the counter, so I would consider changing the serving dish. I didn't try any of the cooked, fried, or donburi options, so I have no opinion on those. But I really enjoyed the things I ordered and it was the perfect treat for me to end a very stressful week!
