Grain House offers consistently good, affordable sushi and ramen. The set up is unique, you order at the counter, then find your seat. There's a self serve station of sauces, utensils, and napkins for you to help yourself to - which I kinda like. The food comes out when it's ready. Simple food done right. Great location and cute interior.

Wanted a quick bite to go and decided to try this spot. There were a couple of other groups here when we went but we were able to order right away through a tablet. And in about 5-10 minutes we got our order. It ended up being a pretty below mid banh mi, also really expensive for what you get. It didn't really seemed filled, the bread did not taste fresh or crisp or flaky. I didn't find either of the meat flavoring very good either, overall I would recommend to avoid (atleast for banh mi, maybe I'll try the pho or sushi or drinks)

Fire Mountain Roll ---yummy!

Stopped in here after a busy day of work in Seattle. Staff is great, the restaurant is very clean and the food is amazing! I ordered the fire roll and a cup of hot tea with a side of both the salad and the miso soup. Their homemade salad dressing is so, so good !! Everything was amazing, prices are reasonable, and I'll be back!!

Beef Pho Noodle Soup

The food relative to cost was really good in this area so bonus points for value. We had the vegetarian pho and the beef pho. My partner liked his beef pho quite a bit. I liked my broth and veggies/tofu, but we both agreed there's too many noodles in it. The drinks were really good (classic boba and Thai tea). We were impressed at the quality of the sushi too - we split a spider roll. Overall there were lots of vegetarian options on the menu too. Overall, we felt the food was much better than we would have anticipated for the overall ambiance (seems much more like a grab and go place and the dine in was pretty dead when we arrived). I can see why they keep it more relaxed and casual though being so close to Seattle U. The service was good and friendly. You order at the front and they bring it out. I'd definitely go back for the drinks and to try their bahn mis too.

takeout roll and banh mi

Was a tad disappointed getting some take out from here. One sushi roll and one banh mi for almost $30. The sushi roll (Tiger roll) was tasty but extremely small and thin. You would need many many rolls here to be even near satisfied. The banh mi on the other hand, I was excited for the pate inside since many other options in this area do not have it. But even though it was on their menu, it was unfortunately not in the sandwich itself. The bread on the banh mi was also very tough to chew through. Lastly I added a miso soup and it was not normal, it feels like they added some soy sauce? Dark brown and too salty. Overall there were definitely a few things I wish were different with my experience here but I haven't tried it in person.

My fiance and I love this sushi place when we are around this area. Infact we ordered from this sushi place on doordash as well when I delivered my son and it was just as good and hit the spot. The service is quick and they have wonderful sushi. I will say the restaurant itself is on the smaller side but is cozy. There is convenient street parking as well, but we did pay for parking.

Tofu vermicelli bowl

I'm not sure I ordered the right thing from their menu to really be judging anything but they had so many varying options it was kinda overwhelming. Sushi and Japanese rice bowls, but also pho and Vietnamese vermicelli bowls? i wanted to attempt to pick a healthy option where I could save a portion to eat another day so I got the tofu vermicelli bowl. The tofu was kinda bland, and the bowl also had veggies and peanuts. The only taste profile was basically the sauce. My friend got a sushi and liked it through.

Orgasm Roll, Fire Mountain Roll - IG @bougiefoodieboi

This is a fairly affordable fast casual restaurant that serves a variety of Asian food, more specifically Japanese and Vietnamese, such as sushi, ramen, pho, and banh mi. We personally tried 2 sushi rolls - the orgasm roll and fire mountain roll. Overall, I enjoyed it but the rolls are a bit on the too salty side. Each order came with either miso soup or salad, so I opted for the miso soup, which is a bit too salty. The fire mountain roll is fairly aesthetic and has spicy tuna, salmon, white tuna, and masago, with California roll as the base. The orgasm roll they say is the most popular item, perhaps because of the name, but more so it is really delicious. It is a baked roll with fried shrimp inside and salmon on top, among others. Portions can be a little light so I would say it will take 2 rolls to be full, but it is a nice place to go for a meal that you can more easily adjust in terms of portions.

Came with friends and we all got pho and a thai milk tea. The food was really yummy and just what we needed on a chilly day! Service was super friendly and fast. There are tables inside and we saw people coming in to grab takeout orders as well. It was cute inside. Would come here again soon!

Calamari sticks (8), and salad

Has a pretty casual ambience resembling a café. We spoke with the owners - nice people to talk to, by the way - who mentioned that it's popular with a lot of students, especially those who live in the nearby dorms, who want some affordably priced sushi. We ordered quite a variety of things, all quite interesting. The calamari sticks oddly resembled mozzarella sticks and felt a bit unusual but were still fried to perfection. The pho was also interesting as you could pick your broth and two proteins instead of just ordering from a standard menu. The end result was ok - the broth could have used more flavor and I would have preferred to see more garnishes - but it kept me tided over. The sushi was by far the highlight, with a creative menu and lots of variety. We ended up getting the Fish Kettle, the Xoxo, and some sake Nigiri. The Xoxo was nice and crispy and generously dressed with sauce. The Fish Kettle had enough fresh raw fish to satisfy me (though it was lacking in the hot oil department - which I was hoping would be a highlight based on the menu description). The rolls are a little small but they still pack a lot of flavor, and the quality of the seafood is about what you pay for at $11-13 a roll. They also come with side salads that are mostly lettuce and cucumber but come with an intriguing ginger dressing. Overall a solid place whose main draw is its variety, affordability, and proximity to the University. It's more casual eatery than traditional sushi bar, but I still look forward to stopping by again to check out more of their sushi.

Beef Pho w/ beefball and mushroom
Irene L.

This is just for the beef pho w/ beef meatball and mushrooms that I tried. While the amount of food was a good amount for the price 12.95 + tax&tip but the broth flavor could be improved. The broth was sweet which I liked but there wasn't enough aroma from the usual pho spices. I wish there was a better taste in that aspect. I asked for boiled beansprouts which they gladly complied. I understand that mushrooms are probably for the vegetarians but it didn't add much to the pho so I would suggest to get a different meal option if you can. Beef meatballs are standard. I'm glad I got to try this new restaurant but if I were to come back, I would probably not get pho, my friend got the beef stew ramen that she demolished, she did end up having to season it more with soy sauce and pepper. It's nice that they have additional seasonings for people to customize a bit.

Momiji was one of those and it was extremely close to the movie theater we were walking out of. Sushi sounded great so we strolled over to get some. The sushi didn't disappoint... not in the slightest! We got some specialty rolls off of that portion of the menu and they were so very good! Fresh and extremely flavorful! Moonraker was one of the rolls we got. I highly recommend it! In addition to that we got an order of the Spicy Tofu... again delicious and made an excellent side with our sushi! I got a hard alcohol I wasn't used to getting. It was fun and it was quite good! It was Shochu which is a distilled beverage and involves sweet potato. If memory serves I got the one with sweet potato and pear. Very different but very good. It had a nice dryness to it. To wrap it all up we got some deep fried mochi ice cream. It held up nicely to being a great finish to a very high quality meal. We are definitely coming back!
