Some logistics first. All the "Inside" photos in Yelp are of a different location. The actual restaurant location has a very small interior with only two two-persons tables and two stools for folks waiting for take-outs. (See my photo) Nothing is wrong with a small restaurant, of course. We drove from a further location, and we much prefer to dine-in instead of driving all the way home and having to re-heat the food. Everyone else got the memo and did take-outs. We were the only ones at the little table eating the food served in the same takeout containers. The restaurant was also having ventilation problems, so the entire restaurant smelled like smoke from the frier. All our clothing smelled like smoke and grease. They apologized, so I appreciate that. The restroom is accessible only when they let you in through the kitchen. Good thing we were the only ones dining in. As far as I can, only three people are working the front and back. They run a tight ship! The Food: Fried Catfish, $21 - 4 Stars Fried catfish is the bomb! Theirs might be the best variant I can remember. The fish is properly trimmed. The cornmeal coating is thin and even. It did not taste greasy at all, which I rarely say for any fried foods. We had two orders of the fried catfish as our protein. Main meals come with choice of two sides. We tried: - Collard Greens ($9 if purchased as a side) - 5 Stars I chose it per her recommendation. She said theirs is the best. Oh, she just might be right! I have had many collard greens that are somewhat bland. Theirs appears to be boiled in a beefy broth, possibly with oxtail, based on the shreds of beef and bits of fat found with the greens. It is so good that I drank the broth! - Mac and Cheese ($9 if purchased as a side) - 3.5 Stars This tasted very good at the beginning. But it cooled quickly, and the crispy bits of cheese became chewy hard bits of cheese. Not so sexy by the end of the meal. - Yams ($9 if purchased as a side) - 2.5 Stars A bit too mushy and quite sweet. Passable but not our fav. - Waffles ($9 if purchased as a side) - 3 Stars When I read waffles, my mind is filled with Belgium waffles. I know I am at a soul food restaurant, and my mind ran the wrong way anyway. Fail, on my part, not them. The good thing is I was full from catfish and collard greens. This became hubby's breakfast. Cornbread, $4 - 5 Stars The main course doesn't come from cornbread, and it would be a crime to not order cornbread. Theirs is wonderfully fluffy and homey, not too dense, not too airy. Just right. All three staff members have some pizzazz. If not for the smoke, I would have really enjoyed b.s.'g with them and hanging out longer.

Chicken Wings Meal- comes with 3 wings and 2 sides of mac. 4.8/5

Food is amazing, love their Mac n cheese! Very chill place. Service is good, nice customer service, definitely recommend this place if you're looking for some good eats! 3 wings and 2 sides of mac for $21 and strawberry lemonade is $6 large size of mac (not pictured) $9.

Wonderful service and the food was amazing!!!! Don't walk, run. We will definitely be back.

Fried chicken, rice, Mac n cheese.

Yummy- especially if you been craving a home cooked meal. Ms. Miller brought me fried chicken, rice w/ gravy and Mac n cheese. Took a bite of the chicken and it's the best I've ever had. My belly will be full in no time. Thank you for the food, we will be back for more.

I enjoyed my time here. The food was good at times, but overall passable. The best part was how beautiful the food looked. I even liked that it came in to go containers with larger portions than would have fit in styrofoam. Unfortunately A few things holding me back from loving this place. First, weird dinning set up. It really felt like they haven't gotten over covid regulations. Second, the food was inconsistent. Most places you either get, sloppy overly seasoned extra greasy soul. Or un seasoned very healthy soul. This place was both. Third, my fish was greasier on the inside than my Mac and cheese. Too be honest the Mac looked like it was going to disappoint due to how dry and colorless it looked, but I actually really enjoyed the flavor. The greens were on point. But my fish, it disappointed. So beautiful, but overly crispy breaded and it ended up kind of mushy while trying to break apart and eat. Idk, maybe a lighter grease would help for the fish frying. Maybe plumper filets. Idk. But I doubt I would get more fish. My wings however were tasty. Mixed feelings indeed. Now for my water review, they gave us complimentary bottled water. Nuff said. I'd come back. Not right away, but I'll be back.

Found a great Soulfood place in Seattle! Must try.

Found this bomb soulfood spot its a little hidden. Decided to give it a try, was surprised. Good customer service the nice lady at the counter helped me decide what to pick. Food tasted fresh. came out in a reasonable amount of time. Decided to try a variety of dishes. No complaints everything was delicious shared it with my family everybody was impressed! definitely will come back. I like that the food was not over seasoned and salty and the yams were not too sweet. Chicken catfish and pork chops were crispy! They Gave me some hot sauce and tarter and I did didn't have to ask for it. Thank you! Everybody be trying to charge extra for every little thing nowadays gets annoying. Food was packaged good and reasonably priced compared to another soul food spots that I go to. I would say it's a great takeout place cuz there's not a lot of room for dine in. Parking is a little difficult but not too bad. Love places that are small local family type businesses hope they stick around.

COVID-19 order Togo!! We waited for an hour.. this is a good wait.. staff was great with keeping up with all the Uber, Grub Hub, Postmates, call ins and walk in orders. Oxtails, pork chops, chicken wings and gizzards with cheese grits. Sweet drinks offered as we waited. Great experience of food on our pallet.

    Oxtails with Rice

So, today I ordered the comfort zone. Super proud of them for being black owned in Seattle. I'm currently pregnant and was DYING for some oxtails. 20 dollars a plate for 5-6 oxtails made me stop and think about purchasing before hand but the reviews raved on this place so, I gave it a try. To preface, I'm from Florida, and my partner is from Memphis. We have both had our share of oxtails and catfish, good and bad. At best, the comfort zone gave me average. I would rate my oxtails 7/10 and my partner rated his catfish a 7/10 also. My 3 year old would rate the catfish a 9/10 as he couldn't stop eating it, but the kid will eat anything. I ordered the regular 21 dollar oxtails with rice. I got about 5 pieces and they were fall off the bone. I don't like the tomato broth they were stewed in, but I will say, they weren't more fat than meat so I liked that. My partner wished his catfish were hard fried, not soft and his catfish came with no sides for ten dollars which seems a bit ridiculous. I understand it's Seattle and the up charge for soul food is ridiculous but.... 20?? And ten dollars for catfish with no sides?? And you only get ONE piece ??? Seems a bit more than just ridiculous but that's just me. Anyway, I'm glad I gave this black owned business a try, but probably won't be back and maybe won't recommend to my friends or family. If you're reading this, take it as you will. Try at your own risk. Also, the inconsistency of the online menus really bother me. Grub hub offers the oxtails, Uber eats does, but DoorDash doesn't. Uber eats just sells one piece of catfish but their online website has a meal. It should be the same across the board.

Everything was pulling water from my mouth, so I sipped water after every bite. I guess that helps me feel full, but I was shocked. The potatoes were seasoned well, with a nice saltiness, but were dry. Most biscuits are already dry, but I felt like the biscuit here was somehow drier and had nothing to pair with. Biscuits and gravy exists for a reason, so the added biscuit seems flawed to begin with. I enjoyed the random assortment of fruits, but nothing special. The omelette itself was okay, but followed the same common theme of being more dry than expected.
