I am from Texas so I guess I have really high expectation for crawfish. However, I usually love plain boiled crawfish even in Texas . My friend and I went on a Friday night and we were literally the only people inside haha, but granted there was a lot happening in Seattle that weekend. Probably the best crawfish place around Seattle in my opinion. The food comes out pretty quick and the whole boom bang sauce is bomb - tons of flavor and garlic pieces which I love. It's a thicker sauce which is great as well. Really enjoyed the spiciness of the flavors as well, we ordered 4 stars and it was perfect (asian level spiciness if that helps). My bf and I ordered a pound of shrimp, mussels, and clams and decided to go with the "mix it combo" which in hindsight now that I think about it, is a rip off. It's $17/lb and requires a minimum of 2lbs and it comes with corn, sausage, and potatoes. I feel like they trick you into thinking it's a great deal because of all the add ons but if we had ordered each item separately, it would have been cheaper that way. And to figure out what you want to order, you basically have to match up the QC code with the board behind the counter and figure out how much you want to buy - and the board doesn't clearly specify that the prices are per pound. It may be a fine place, and the food certainly looked good from what I saw. But it definitely doesn't feel inviting if you're new to it. I could give her the benefit of the doubt but for a seafood restaurant, they should have taken the issue of ammonia smell more seriously. I was so disappointed with the food and service received. First, my order was not filled properly. I had to drive back after arriving home and seeing that I was missing a lb. of shrimp and the lb. we did get weighed 5oz. (see video). All the food was overcooked. Thankfully a guy came halfway through the meal to save her and our experience. He was kind, joked with us, and worked his butt off refilling waters, giving us napkins, and just in general serving us. I am usually respectful to waitstaff, I know that it's a tough gig but I couldn't handle this girls attitude and ended up exchanging some words with her. If it were not my friends birthday with her elderly mom present I would have taken my family and left without paying. This is the only time I have ever been to a restaurant and had an experience like that IN MY LIFE. All that aside, the food really wasn't up to par with all the other crab places, crawfish king in ID and the one out in Kent are far superior. There is a ton of garlic and spice in this thick sauce; really tastes like lobster sauce that the Chinese use for their wok dishes. This sauce, if you must eat crawfish, should be your choice. The other sauces aren't ALL that. Here is the only place I know in Seattle that serves sea snails. Take the provided toothpick(s) to extract the meat and dip it into required "damn good" ginger fish sauce. I like the boiled peel and eat large shrimp with cocktail sauce. All the fried seafood baskets work well. The softshell crab and the oysters basket choices hit the spot, with fries that aren't too oily. I just have to mention that one time a cutie pie that looks like an Asian double of a Jennifer Love Hewitt was our server. I've been here twice now and the food is unique and flavorful. I'm not a fan of spice so we usually order the mild or little spicy for the boom bang sauce. Crawfish is a lot of work to eat, but if you prefer something easier and meatier, order the other seafood like clams, mussels, crab, or shrimp. They have specials like king crab also for about $19.99 a pound. They're a little skimpy on corn and sausages if you get the minimum combo order, but you can always order extra sides. We usually order the baguette because it's fresh out the oven and tasty to soak up the sauces. Their fried frog legs aren't that great - maybe I'm just not a fan of the veiny texture, but it was also dry. Their boom bang sauce is an awesome mixture of garlic, lemon, pepper, etc. so be sure to use gloves when eating or wash your hands a million times so they don't smell afterwards. When there aren't that many options for Cajun, you have no choice but to dine at the few select Cajun spots in Seattle. Located in South Seattle, the restaurant is very small and fills up fast. The parking lot is a decent size but the spots are pretty tight. A lot of people complain about the service and that's because they are understaffed. There's only one person going around the entire restaurant taking orders and requests. If you're afraid of your hands smelling like seafood afterwards, they provide gloves for you to eat with. Coming from LA, there are a ton of Cajun places to choose from. Ever since Boiling Crab took off, there have been a number of other restaurants opening up so the standard is set quite high. The menu is similar, offering a number of different types of seafood all mixed in a bag and sauce of your choosing. For 2 of us, we decided to mix it and split 4 lbs of shrimp, mussels and crawfish in the whole boom bang sauce. As part of the package, they also add in potatoes, sausages and corn in the bag as well. However, potatoes, sausages and corn were hard to come by. I wish they gave us more sausage. If you're cost-conscious, I would take a look at the board behind the counter to see what the prices are for each type of seafood. Beware though, it can add up quickly. I thought the sauce was decent... It was a little too thick for my liking and didn't think the seafood marinated in the sauce very well. As far as the seafood is concerned, it's decent quality. We also got an order of the chicken wings which comes with fries. If you plan on ordering fries, my advice would be to order one of their fried goodies in a basket because it includes fries in there. The fries were a little salty but they give you ketchup to soak up the salt. The wings were alright. There was plenty of meat on the wing but the meat itself was a little dry. WOO HOO! Feels like I am back in Garden Grove hunting down food in the area that this place is in . I finally found this place since Google was taking me to the wrong complex. It is small and a bit hidden, but definitely worth it. My sister and I got the bang bang sauce which is all the sauces mixed together. We got the hot version with sea snails, dungeness crab and crawfish. You have to ask for the bib, gloves and the crab cracking device. We got crawfish, king crab, mussels, and shrimp in the whole boom bang sauce (all their sauces combined). It was so good. The sauce was spicy and garlicy. You get bibs and gloves, a side of their cajun spice for dipping and lime. We got melted butter as well but it's extra. We also ordered some bread to dip it in our sauce. Anyway, I've had Boilin Crab (during its peak days and after) and Kickin Crab in California and I gotta say as of right now The Cajun Crawfish has some of the best sauce available. The whole boom bang is a mixture of all the sauces filled with tons of minced garlic. The sauce is not watery nor oily. It's perfect. A little spicy, a little sweet with a nice Cajun punch to it. Price: Typical pricing for a seafood boil. $14 for a lb of shrimp. Tips: The spices are on a very hot scale. If you cannot handle spicy then I suggest to go with the non spice. There's not many good crawfish places in Seattle but I would say my top 2 in the city is this place and Crawfish House. The seafood here is always big and fresh while some places just don't taste as fresh. I've never been disappointed coming here and the servers give you what they ask for even if they don't seem like they want to be there. I'm pretty sure they hear it a lot, it would be nice to feel welcomed inside. It won't stop me from coming here and enjoying my meal though! Just a warning though, the non spicy bang sauce still has a small kick to it! (Which I enjoyed but my boyfriend sniffled through it lol). The restaurant was packed and we were given bibs, napkins, and gloves for everything... and the workers were very attentive. The seafood here is very delicious and fresh. The boom bang sauce is really what makes it so excellent. We got 2 stars and it was super spicy! We can usually handle pretty hot food too and they aren't shy with the heat. I highly recommend getting some toasted french bread on the side to mop up the sauce too! We ordered the Dungeness crab x 2, and their gulf shrimp from their mix-it menu. You could tell their seafood was fresh based off of their market pricing and it had zero fishy taste to it whatsoever. The food came out pretty fast, fresh, and hot. The mixed sauce has a ridiculous amount of garlic which is perfectly fine for my hubby and I but if you're not a garlic fanatic beware! Just have a mint on hand for after your meal ;) The reason I wouldn't give this place 5 stars is because we ordered 2 pounds of crab and the majority of it was the tiny broken pieces of legs that barely have meat in them which filled up most of the bag. Also, the mix it combo is meant to come with corn and sausage and we literally had 2 tiny pieces of corn and 2 tiny chunks of sausage TOTAL. Ummm...to me, that's a bit stingy. All in all will we be back? Yes. Service was decent and it satisfies our craving for classic Cajun seafood. Bu next time, we will definitely order 3 pounds to take some home and I guess I will just have to ask for more corn and sausage. read more
