Came here specifically for the salt & pepper crab and yep... worth the drive from Everett. Seasoned perfectly -- not overly salty or greasy, just right. Also ordered the sweet & sour chicken with fried rice and it was legit delicious. No complaints, just solid comfort food done right. Service was great -- shoutout to Kacey for taking care of us (and hooking it up with to-go cups for our sodas, which was a nice touch). The vibe was chill too -- clean space, relaxing piano music in the background, nothing chaotic. Even the fortune cookie was good, which honestly feels rare these days. I've passed by this restaurant on the way to the 90 SO MANY TIMES and I've always wanted to come and kept forgetting it existed... Finally made plans to be here. The restaurant was empty when we came at 4-5pm, though a few to-go orders were taken. We did the set for two to share, and the flavors of the seafood were great! I was extremely impressed with the sauce and how hot the seafood was/stayed because of it. The shrimp we requested shell on and they were difficult to peel but they were a great texture, as was the clams and mussels. (We found a couple clams with sand, but, c'est la vie.) Sausage was excellent too. The garlic noodles were maybe mushier than I would've preferred (surprisingly, since I am a mush noodle person), but they were definitely extremely garlicky (in the best way). read more

The chef cooks really fast; so, we were impressed. Food quality: we ordered Dungeness crabs and the menu has no price except "Market price". After all, all raw food prices are determined by the market, don't they? So, what does it mean? When a seafood restaurant says market price, it implies the price is determined by the local market, since they are fresh catch and the prices changes almost everyday. When we were served the crabs, one bite into the center, it was cold, almost frozen. OK, someone doesn't know how to cook crabs. So, I skipped the center of the crabs and go to the legs. The meat in the legs are still sweet (which is good), like most crab meat, but there were stringy and do not have the firm succulent texture of a fresh catch. And, the after taste has a slight fishy smell. No fresh crabs have fishy smell. I have eaten many Dungeness crabs in my life, and have bought fresh live ones and cook them myself. They do not taste like this. These tasted like they were in the freezer for weeks, may be months. I have no idea where they source their crabs but 3-4 bites of it did not convince me that these were fresh catch but looks like the owners had the confidence to demand MARKET PRICE when they were frozen crabs. We finally tried dine in here and was pretty impressed. This might be our go to place for Chinese food and seafood boil in the area. We went for lunch and it was pretty quiet. I think we were the only customers there. We ordered a seafood boil, salt and pepper frog legs and a lunch combo of chow mein and beef. The portion of these are really good for the price. The seafood boil was plump and juicy. I did wish it was more flavorful though. The frog legs was really good though. Love how it was juicy and the texture. The chowmein had a really good wok flavor! This is our favorite seafood place in Bellevue. Items are reasonably priced, service is consistently wonderful, and food is always delicious. Love their Cajun butter sauce and their garlic butter noodles. Kind of an eclectic vibe, which we like. They have a bar but we haven't ordered alcohol there before. Lots of parking. read more

Ordered some Chinese takeout on Thanksgiving from Crab Season and was surprised by how good it was. The restaurant is known more as a Cajun seafood restaurant, but I thought the Chinese food items were great. Ordered the stir fry clams, salt & pepper pork chops and Szechuan beef, which were all delicious. However, I will say the Szechuan beef was not very spicy, as was indicated on the menu. The packaging was excellent as I was concerned about liquid leakage, particularly with the clams. Menu pricing is great and one of the most affordable for Chinese food in Bellevue. The food and service was amazing!! I'm surprised there weren't more people there, but it was the beginning of lunch time. The place was clean, the servers were attentive and friendly and the food was fresh and plentiful and affordable, especially for all the food we ordered! We tried the Honey Walnut Shrimp, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Garlic Noodles, Garlic Green Beans, Gumbo, and of course some Crab Rangoon (called "fried crab meat cheese wonton" on their menu lol but it's the same). Everything was excellent - all the flavors you expect and very high quality. We got a "large" side of rice thinking it would be just enough for the three of us and it was massive - enough for more like 5 people I'd say lol. The only thing I didn't like as much was the honey walnut shrimp - the flavor was great but the breading was very thick - but my son loved it so it's more of a personal preference. Their menu is quite varied - they also have a lot of seafood boil options. I was really surprised how empty it was given how great the food was - but it was snowing outside and cold and kind of early in the evening for dinner so that's probably why. Their prices are reasonable and they have lots of parking available. All the staff were friendly and genuinely excited for us to try their food. It's obvious that the staff are a family and it's very sweet - felt like I was having dinner at a friend's house. They also have tons of TVs all around so you don't ever get bored or lonely. My wife and I went there for a late lunch yesterday. It feels like an old Skippers fish & chips house, but there is a charm to it. Above and beyond that, the Dungeness Crab with the garlic butter sauce was stunningly good and plentiful. Also the House Fried Rice with beef, chicken and shrimp was also delicious. For those that have been to Crab Pot, they have several seafood boil options in addition to other seafood items like fish and chips, fried softshell crab, fried oysters, etc. in addition to this, they also have Americanized Chinese food. Pretty interesting combination. The food was decent, but service was really good which pushed me to round this rating to 4 stars. As others have mentioned the gloves that are provided make it almost impossible to eat the seafood boil. I decided to just go bare handed and washed my hands afterwards. The food is horrible. The seafood boil wasn't even a seafood boil. Seems they just slap some curry on top and called it a day. The gumbo was also horrible. Seems they just open a can of beef stew and served it up as gumbo. The "gumbo" had machine processed vegetables and brown curry. Have been wanting to find a good seafood boil in Washington for a minute and I think I found my spot service is impeccable, there was a male server who handled the host stand and service. We came around 5 pm on a Thursday and it wasn't busy, I think we made it before the lunch rush as more people started coming when we were leaving. Our first visit to Crab Season & we had high hopes based on the great reviews. Perhaps the best thing about them might be their seafood dishes, but we didn't order these. We were curious about their traditional Chinese food choices so ordered the Cashew Chicken, choosing Fried Rice as our side dish, House Special Chow Mein and Egg Rolls. They were fine, tho nothing special. The Cashew Chicken included a lot of zucchini, which was a nice surprise, but the flavor was a bit funky & I don't remember experiencing this flavor with any Chinese food we've had before. Also, we ordered these for take out and there was an oily sauce mixture in the bottom of the takeout container. Simply put, I LOVE this restaurant. I love the fact it's lowkey but busy with to-go orders if not dining in because this place deserves all the money they can get for offering great variety of Chinese dishes on top of the delicious seafood boil. Last two stops here I forgot to take pictures because it was so delicious! My better half and I tried the seafood boil combo 2 or 3 I can't remember haha but we chose the flavor fusion which is a mix of all the sauces of course and it was heavenly! We also had some apps also which were fried to perfection! Deep fried mushrooms are a MUST! (If you're not a picky eater) lite batter with a clean fry that you can see because they come out perfectly golden with a side of spicy mayo that pairs nicely. Fried crab wontons are also really tasty fried nicely like the mushrooms. 2nd stop here we opted to try the Chinese inspired entrees because all the smells from the first visit were tantalizing. I picked the honey walnut shrimp combination plate with fried rice And she chose the Mongolian beef also with fried rice and it was top notch! And when I review locations I factor is price, quality & taste of course and this place delivers on all 3. Price is great in my opinion especially in this economy we sadly live in, with flavor and quality all showing in each visit I give this place honestly a 20/10. My friend loves seafood and really likes Crawfish King in International District and so she invited me to try Crab Season with her, hoping for just as good of a seafood experience. I've never had seafood boil before and so I decided to give it a try with her. Crab Season is located next to the auto dealer parking lots in Eastgate and near Lil Jon's. This place has changed hands many times over the last fifteen years; before Crab Season there used to be a Japanese restaurant and a Chinese restaurant before that. We arrived at the restaurant at 5:30pm on a weeknight and were the first ones there. The waiter seated us promptly and handed us menus. Crab Season has about 6 different combo options that graduate in price depending on the number and type of seafood items included. The combos with snow or king crab are obviously the more expensive dishes. You can also buy ala carte seafood items for market price. In addition to seafood, Crab Season serves a variety of dishes including chow mein (which really ended up being lo mein), fried rice, green beans, and some other meat dishes. My friend and I asked the waiter how many the smaller combos served and he said typically 1-2 people for combo 1 and about 2-3 people for combo 2 which has crawfish in addition to everything that combo 1 includes. After perusing the menu some more, my friend and I decided to share a SEAFOOD COMBO 1 and a SHRIMP CHOW MEIN. The combos come with a choice of flavoring: ragin cajun, lemon pepper, garlic butter (+$1) and flavor fusion which is the first three mixed together. We chose flavor fusion. In total, we paid about $35 per person. They brought out our SHRIMP CHOW MEIN within fifteen minutes after ordering. As stated before, these noodles are really lo mein noodles and not traditional crunchy chow mein noodles (think Panda Express noodles). My friend enjoyed their chewy texture and said they reminded her of Din Tai Fung noodles. I personally thought they were just okay- at least they came with a few green beans, onions, and cabbage. A little while later, we got our seafood boil COMBO 1 in a big ceramic dish in addition to a metal bucket for shells, big plastic gloves, napkins, and plastic bibs. The COMBO 1 seafood boil had a lot of clams, four oysters, four slices of sausage, two whole red potatoes, two overcooked corn on the cob quarters, and six to eight shelled shrimp with heads all coated in a thick brown sauce. The platter was huge, but also just a lot of shells. My friend and I put on our gloves, which were slippery and way too big for our hands to get an actual grasp on the serving spoon, and got to work. The seafood was passable, but really just nondescript in my opinion. It was hard to taste the seafood because the brown sauce was super salty- so salty that it made the food unpleasant. The sauce had a slight kick to it from the Ragin Cajun flavoring mixed into it, but the high salt level was unbearable and prevented me from enjoying my food. I rarely drink a lot of water with my meals, but I had to constantly gulp down water to cleanse the salt. I almost wanted to just pour my water into the food to dilute the sauce. My other complaint was that the food was served warm, but not hot. The food got cold quickly too because the ceramic bowl did not retain the heat well. I was expecting hot pot boiling temperatures, but this just wasn't it. Service was good which is why I'm giving them three stars instead of two. We requested new gloves half way through our meal and they quickly fulfilled our request. They also made sure to give us their special discount of 10% off any seafood boil without us even asking. Lastly, the waitress was prompt to get my friend a takeout container, which was really just a plastic bag that they double bagged with another plastic bag to prevent leakage during transportation. As far as the atmosphere, there was no music playing in the background and so it was awkwardly quiet until another party or two came in later. They have a sea theme going on with large ripe nets and paintings of tropical fish and other sea creatures. However, the booths were old and much of the restaurant looked outdated. Overall, I was unimpressed with Crab Season and sadly won't be coming back. My friend will be back for the shrimp chow mein, but I think both of us will be passing on the seafood. In conclusion, 2/5 for food, 4/5 for service, 2.5/5 for atmosphere read more

Very reasonable prices for the items on the Chinese cuisine menu. THE THORNS: The building has been around a LONG time, and it kind of shows it. While clean, the dining room is definitely a bit 'long in the tooth' in terms of decor and overall condition. THE VERDICT: I think the biggest issue with this restaurant is it suffers from an identity crisis; is it a Cajun seafood boil place or a classic 'Americanized Chinese' restaurant? If you take this place strictly on the merits of its food and service, it's great, but it suffers from a frankly run-down physical plant and confusing concept. Came here again the other day to try their seafood boil. I ordered a lb of snow crab legs for $34 and a lb of head on shrimp for I think $13-14. I ordered it in the flavor fusion sauce, spice level hot. I also ordered a side of butter garlic in spice level medium. The boil came out quick and it came on a big plate which was different than the typical boil bags I'm used to. They also brought out a bucket to put your shells in which was nice. Another different thing is it didn't come with any Cajun salt and lime and the boils didn't come with any corn, potatoes, or sausage. You have to order on the side. The seafood was fresh. The fusion sauce tasted like one flavor instead of all the flavors. I personally liked the garlic butter better. I ate majority of the shrimp before I started biting into Sandy ones and that's when I had to stop eating them bc of the grit in my mouth. The service was great! He took my order and made sure it was correct. He asked me at one point how I was doing.
