    crab sold here

I accidentally found this spot while trying to get to Alki beach. Missed my exit off the freeway and was turned around in what I now have figured out is Georgetown. The signage on this place is huge and caught my attention. So many seafood choices! Live, Frozen, high quality seafood. The gentleman, named Randy, was super helpful. And his name is Randy, come on! If you know me, you what this means to me. Anyway, seriously a super awesome spot to buy crab, tuna, scallops, shrimp, dungeness crab, red king crab and wine. He pulled out a huge live red king crab from a nearby tank and I nearly died! I legitamately screamed as I had never seen such a huge crab in person before. I purchased one leg cooked and ready to dismantle later at home. The store is in a sort of warehouse type spot with a huge parking lot. Outside is the future beer/wine garden with a food truck. Randy told me all about the future plans. Can't wait! Look for their big sign and come prepared to buy some delicousness! Happy Yelping.

    Empty crab leg.

So sad. This is typically my favorite place to get crab. I tell everyone about this place. In the past I have gotten the frozen colossal King Crab legs. They are HUGE! One is more than a meal with a salad. The guys working the counter hard sold me the crab in the "fresh" display. NEVER AGAIN. Don't get "sold."

    Not a typical storefront.

This store came recommended from a friend. Picked up some frozen and fresh king crab legs and some smoked salmon. Amazing place. Where else in Seattle can you get live snow crab? It isn't a cheap experience, however, because a lot of the packages are quite large. It's also not your typical looking storefront and looks more like a place open to the trade. But it's worth a trip.

Selection of Ocean Beauty distributed seafoods. Salmon trio is $4 cheaper at Safeway.... But is it fresher?

Ran by a couple Cantonese guys, who speak barely any English but boy can they get their hands on some interesting critters. Do not be surprised to see the price per pound reflected with the cost of securing and shipping. Expect to pay upwards of $100 at a minimum when you come here. Yesterday, on my way to my aunt's house, I decided to stop by for some oysters. I was wonder why they don't have it. But the fact is they hide them behind. They didn't even let me see the oysters, they quickly packed into a plastic bag. When I got home, I saw that I have oysters'' size like an iPhone 10. The shell of the oysters is very stinky, like it's been under muddy water or sewer for years... so when I open them, the shell keeps breaking. Which makes sense to me why they Havee those that are already opened. I steamed some of the oysters and smell them, they are not fresh.. so I just throw 1.5 dozen of oysters into the trash.

I used to shop at Seattle Supermarket out of pure convenience, but their customer service and…read morerespect for patrons are severely lacking. I've had two highly disappointing incidents recently that made me decide to never return. First was a safety issue. I reached for fresh mushrooms on what looked like a newly installed metal shelf. The edge was incredibly sharp and sliced my finger, causing it to bleed. I approached a young female supervisor/manager at the front (possibly named Ema) not to complain, but to warn them so other customers wouldn't get hurt. Her only response was an indifferent 'Oh.' No apology, no offer of a band-aid or basic first aid. Basic human decency was completely missing. Second was a billing issue. Last week, I bought a bunch of bananas and was double-charged. I didn't notice the receipt until I got home, and since it was only $5.33, I didn't make a special trip back immediately. When I returned a week later and politely brought it up, a cashier called over that same supervisor (Ema). She bluntly refused to help, saying, 'You waited a week, we can't do anything.' I pointed out the mathematical improbability of two separate bunches of bananas weighing the exact same amount down to the cent ($5.33) to prove it was a double-scan error. Her dismissive reply was 'sometimes that happens.' I let it go because I didn't want to argue over a few dollars ('not a big deal' financially), but her defensive attitude made me feel like she suspected I was trying to scam the store over $5. It's not about the money; it's about the principle, common sense, and how you treat your customers. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Revisiting it always feels special. The market looks small from the outside, but don't be fooled--it's surprisingly spacious inside with plenty to browse. The parking lot has limited spots so be prepared to circle or wait briefly. We stopped in just to browse and do some spontaneous shopping, and of course left with more than planned. I was thrilled to find a DIY taho kit (includes sago and arnibal) and grabbed two right away. A tub of Magnolia ube ice cream and banana turons were calling my husband's name, so those came back to the hotel with us too. If we hadn't already eaten, we would've grabbed lunch there--the food smelled so inviting. The cashier was especially lovely--friendly, chatty, and engaging with everyone in line. That kind of warm customer service is refreshing and definitely deserves recognition. We left fully content, happy to revisit a familiar place and score a few fun impulse finds. Fou Lee Market continues to be a comforting, nostalgic stop that never disappoints. Update: The banana turon was really good. Super crunchy exterior with sugar that hardened into a crisp shell instead of turning gooey. Inside was a whole banana, not mushy or overcooked or dry, which gave it great texture. Simple, well-made, and very satisfying.
