This review is for the University District Farmer's Market salmon sliders at with: 1. apple aioli, bacon & arugula 2. lemon aioli, charred radicchio & feta Maybe it was the heavy rain and cold, windy absolutely crappy weather, but we were initially skeptical and expected it to be some mediocre-tasting burger with mushy-textured salmon and low-quality bread (very common of many sliders in Seattle) that is good enough to fill us up but not to enjoy... Boy, oh, boy were we wrong! It was AMAZING - taste, texture, aroma & aesthetics (not sure how sliders can look "aesthetically pleasing", but they were not scattered or sliding off)! Will probably buy their fillets next time!

What immediately caught our attention (for obvious reasons) was the bold sign: LIVE KING CRAB. We walked in and were instantly impressed. Large water tanks filled with live Dungeness crab and live king crab, crystal-clear water, and absolutely no fishy smell--always an excellent sign. The space feels more like a clean, well-run warehouse set up for both wholesale and retail, not a typical seafood market. A gentleman working there quickly came over and started chatting with us about crab. Super knowledgeable and friendly. They offer a wide selection: live, fresh, and frozen crab, Japanese scallops, fish, and a variety of shellfish. We considered the live king crab, but it was honestly too big for the two of us to handle in a hotel kitchen--and definitely would've been a splurge. So, plan B: I called my sister-in-law to see if she'd like some frozen king crab legs. She said yes immediately. The gentleman showed us the frozen options, and the king crab legs were long, meaty, and impressive--similar in size to what Costco carries, but priced better. We ended up negotiating a great deal and purchased a box of their Party Pack King Jumbo Crab Legs for her. Later that evening, she surprised her daughter with a king crab birthday dinner, and they reported the legs were super meaty and absolutely delicious. Safe to say, we'll definitely keep Seattle Seafood Center in mind for future seafood splurges. If you love high-quality seafood and especially crab, this place is worth a stop--even if it's an unplanned one.

If you fancy international, and…read moreexotic fish/crustaceans then you need to visit Wanli Seafood Market on Beacon Ave in South Seattle. Ran by a couple Cantonese guys, who speak barely any English but boy can they get their hands on some interesting critters. They import live seafood from various parts of the world; Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Although they will sell the familiar items you see in the wet markets of the Mediterranean and Asia. Do not be surprised to see the price per pound reflected with the cost of securing and shipping. Expect to pay upwards of $100 at a minimum when you come here. (Negating the basic North American species they offer like spot shrimp, Dungeness, Maine lobster, Rockfish, etc) Some of the delectable species I had the honor of feasting on: South American spiny lobster Mantis Shrimp (AKA in Cantonese "Laai Niu Haaa") European Langoustine lobsters Brown Edible crab Mud crabs Blue Flower crabs Marbled Sand Goby Opilio crab (snow crab) Cabezon, Greenling, various other bottom dwelling fish This place doesn't have a number. Yesterday, on my way to my aunt's house, I decided to stop by for some oysters. I was wonder why they don't have it. But the fact is they hide them behind. They didn't even let me see the oysters, they quickly packed into a plastic bag. When I got home, I saw that I have oysters'' size like an iPhone 10. The shell of the oysters is very stinky, like it's been under muddy water or sewer for years... so when I open them, the shell keeps breaking. Which makes sense to me why they Havee those that are already opened. I steamed some of the oysters and smell them, they are not fresh.. so I just throw 1.5 dozen of oysters into the trash.

I used to shop at Seattle Supermarket out of pure convenience, but their customer service and…read morerespect for patrons are severely lacking. I've had two highly disappointing incidents recently that made me decide to never return. First was a safety issue. I reached for fresh mushrooms on what looked like a newly installed metal shelf. The edge was incredibly sharp and sliced my finger, causing it to bleed. I approached a young female supervisor/manager at the front (possibly named Ema) not to complain, but to warn them so other customers wouldn't get hurt. Her only response was an indifferent 'Oh.' No apology, no offer of a band-aid or basic first aid. Basic human decency was completely missing. Second was a billing issue. Last week, I bought a bunch of bananas and was double-charged. I didn't notice the receipt until I got home, and since it was only $5.33, I didn't make a special trip back immediately. When I returned a week later and politely brought it up, a cashier called over that same supervisor (Ema). She bluntly refused to help, saying, 'You waited a week, we can't do anything.' I pointed out the mathematical improbability of two separate bunches of bananas weighing the exact same amount down to the cent ($5.33) to prove it was a double-scan error. Her dismissive reply was 'sometimes that happens.' I let it go because I didn't want to argue over a few dollars ('not a big deal' financially), but her defensive attitude made me feel like she suspected I was trying to scam the store over $5. It's not about the money; it's about the principle, common sense, and how you treat your customers. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Revisiting it always feels special. The market looks small from the outside, but don't be fooled--it's surprisingly spacious inside with plenty to browse. The parking lot has limited spots so be prepared to circle or wait briefly. We stopped in just to browse and do some spontaneous shopping, and of course left with more than planned. I was thrilled to find a DIY taho kit (includes sago and arnibal) and grabbed two right away. A tub of Magnolia ube ice cream and banana turons were calling my husband's name, so those came back to the hotel with us too. If we hadn't already eaten, we would've grabbed lunch there--the food smelled so inviting. The cashier was especially lovely--friendly, chatty, and engaging with everyone in line. That kind of warm customer service is refreshing and definitely deserves recognition. We left fully content, happy to revisit a familiar place and score a few fun impulse finds. Fou Lee Market continues to be a comforting, nostalgic stop that never disappoints. Update: The banana turon was really good. Super crunchy exterior with sugar that hardened into a crisp shell instead of turning gooey. Inside was a whole banana, not mushy or overcooked or dry, which gave it great texture. Simple, well-made, and very satisfying.

I'm actually not a bagel guy, nor do I ever think about them when it comes to grabbing a quick bite somewhere but this was a perfect opportunity to try it again. There was an assortment of bagels, and I got half of an everything bagel and - the one that several of my coworkers highly recommended - the rosemary bagel. Both go well with cream cheese. - The everything bagel was pretty standard; I could taste the garlic and sesame seeds throughout. Garlic was quite powerful on this one though, and I almost thought of garlic bread until I remembered bagels are harder to chew on. - My favorite was the rosemary bagel, just like my coworkers. I could taste the herbs clearly on this one; it was aromatic yet a little bitter. It was balanced with the saltiness already present on the bagel. Since I didn't go to their physical location - which looks like quite a walk from Georgetown - I have yet to see the inside of this place.
