It's the best place to get spotted prawns when they are in season. They go for about $7 per pound, which is a lot cheaper than what you get at grocery store. They are very fresh and sweet. Yummy to eat sashimi style or just boiled or steamed. Cash only though. Remember to bring cash.

Don't wasted your money here They lobster got no meat All water and shell

Don't waste your money at this place .the price is a little bit cheaper than everywhere else but the quality of the seafood is really bad I spent $250 on three lobster and they all come out with water inside and shell there's no meat at all

This is Frank. There are many crabs like him, but this one was mine

The only reason why this isn't a five-star review is because it's cash-only. It's rare that I have cash on me and if you're buying more than a single 2lb crab ($6.99 lb for large Dungeness) then you really have to plan to go to the bank and get cash if a seafood craving strikes you. They're in the old dry cleaner building on the corner of Alaska and Beacon Ave S, so there's tons of parking around. I've been in before to browse and the selection was small the day I was in but I only wanted one crab for myself, so no worries there. They do have live eel, which I haven't prepared before at home but BBQ weather is here and me thinks I'll have to try it ;) There are also snails, two sizes of Dungeness, lobsters, and other fish too. The tanks are pretty clean, which is always important. It's too bad they don't fix up the place, though--both exterior and interior--it does look shady. I named my crab Frank and put him in the freezer so he could simma down a bit. I believe in humane food prep treatment, so I don't put food live into hot water whenever possible. (Sorry mussels, clams, and oysters. There's not a whole lot we can do for you.) Unfortunately, Frank didn't agree that it was his time to go. He literally grabbed my knife as I went to dispatch him, so it was a little longer process than usual.. RIP Frank. All in all, a good place (cheaper than Mutual Fish) and easy to get to!

Check before you pay. You may get bad crabs.

Check before you pay. 2/3 of my crab is not good. Im also surprised that these crabs still alive like this.

What immediately caught our attention (for obvious reasons) was the bold sign: LIVE KING CRAB. We walked in and were instantly impressed. Large water tanks filled with live Dungeness crab and live king crab, crystal-clear water, and absolutely no fishy smell--always an excellent sign. The space feels more like a clean, well-run warehouse set up for both wholesale and retail, not a typical seafood market. A gentleman working there quickly came over and started chatting with us about crab. Super knowledgeable and friendly. They offer a wide selection: live, fresh, and frozen crab, Japanese scallops, fish, and a variety of shellfish. We considered the live king crab, but it was honestly too big for the two of us to handle in a hotel kitchen--and definitely would've been a splurge. So, plan B: I called my sister-in-law to see if she'd like some frozen king crab legs. She said yes immediately. The gentleman showed us the frozen options, and the king crab legs were long, meaty, and impressive--similar in size to what Costco carries, but priced better. We ended up negotiating a great deal and purchased a box of their Party Pack King Jumbo Crab Legs for her. Later that evening, she surprised her daughter with a king crab birthday dinner, and they reported the legs were super meaty and absolutely delicious. Safe to say, we'll definitely keep Seattle Seafood Center in mind for future seafood splurges. If you love high-quality seafood and especially crab, this place is worth a stop--even if it's an unplanned one.

I've had two highly disappointing incidents recently that made me decide to never return. First was a safety issue. I reached for fresh mushrooms on what looked like a newly installed metal shelf. The edge was incredibly sharp and sliced my finger, causing it to bleed. I approached a young female supervisor/manager at the front (possibly named Ema) not to complain, but to warn them so other customers wouldn't get hurt. Her only response was an indifferent 'Oh.' No apology, no offer of a band-aid or basic first aid. Basic human decency was completely missing. Second was a billing issue. Last week, I bought a bunch of bananas and was double-charged. I didn't notice the receipt until I got home, and since it was only $5.33, I didn't make a special trip back immediately. When I returned a week later and politely brought it up, a cashier called over that same supervisor (Ema). She bluntly refused to help, saying, 'You waited a week, we can't do anything.' I pointed out the mathematical improbability of two separate bunches of bananas weighing the exact same amount down to the cent ($5.33) to prove it was a double-scan error. Her dismissive reply was 'sometimes that happens.' I let it go because I didn't want to argue over a few dollars ('not a big deal' financially), but her defensive attitude made me feel like she suspected I was trying to scam the store over $5. It's not about the money; it's about the principle, common sense, and how you treat your customers. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Revisiting it always feels special. The market looks small from the outside, but don't be fooled--it's surprisingly spacious inside with plenty to browse. The parking lot has limited spots so be prepared to circle or wait briefly. We stopped in just to browse and do some spontaneous shopping, and of course left with more than planned. I was thrilled to find a DIY taho kit (includes sago and arnibal) and grabbed two right away. A tub of Magnolia ube ice cream and banana turons were calling my husband's name, so those came back to the hotel with us too. If we hadn't already eaten, we would've grabbed lunch there--the food smelled so inviting. The cashier was especially lovely--friendly, chatty, and engaging with everyone in line. That kind of warm customer service is refreshing and definitely deserves recognition. We left fully content, happy to revisit a familiar place and score a few fun impulse finds. Fou Lee Market continues to be a comforting, nostalgic stop that never disappoints. Update: The banana turon was really good. Super crunchy exterior with sugar that hardened into a crisp shell instead of turning gooey. Inside was a whole banana, not mushy or overcooked or dry, which gave it great texture.
