Love the concept of this place! We just stopped by because we were in the area and super hungry, so we had low expectations. I love the idea of a seafood market that also cooks/serves food. The shrimp tacos were so good. The shrimp was flavorful, bouncy, and so juicy. We also got the canned sardines + add-ons which is such a great idea! You choose the can and they plate it for you. I do wish there was a bit more bread for it though. I had to ration my bread. Anyway, the food took a while to come out (maybe 20-30min) and we were the only ones sitting down. It's also pretty pricey!! So be warned. But still really good and I would definitely go back to try their fresh seafood too read more

Want fresh good seafood to rival everything on the waterfronts? Run don't walk here. Sooooooo good. My husband love's oysters on the 1/2 shell and I love all things fish. We did not want to fight lunchtime traffic today, so we went to our childhood stomping grounds: Madrona. We were greeted warmly when we walked in, seated promptly, and given water straight away. It's clearly a fish market with ~4 tables and a counter for seating, and also has a small retail section for specialty crackers, chocolate, jams and dips etc. I couldn't stay in my seat (we got some fig and olive cracker crisps, and Salmon spread to go). We ordered 4 oysters, fresh albacore tuna melt, and Ciopinno. All of it was a 10/10. The melt was not overly mayonnaised, yet was still creamy, it had fresh herbs and was not fishy. My husband said the Ciopinno was great: really mild and clear seafood broth loaded forth crab and shell fish. read more

Amazing shrimp tacos, it was my first time here. Perfectly seasoned and pretty generous on the shrimp. The service was great, very personable, even with a long line. I hate to leave a bad review, because I genuinely love the food here, but the lack of customer service I experienced today was honestly wild. I have ordered takeout from here multiple times, and probably 80% of the time there is some kind of issue with the order. It's extremely delayed (I'm talking 30 minutes past the pick up time) or there has been a mistake with the order. In the past, the workers have been very nice and apologetic, but today when they got the order wrong, they were incredibly rude. I understand that things get busy and are overwhelming in the food service industry, I've been there, but I treated as a nuisance for simply asking for the food that I spent $40 on. When I was given half of my order, I asked for a refund on the half it was missing because I didn't have time to wait for the rest of it. Instead of obliging or even apologizing, I was (not kindly) told to "just wait 5 minutes!" Well, 5 minutes turned into 25 and by the time I got the rest of my order, the first half was ice cold. The other half of my order was missing most of the stuff that was supposed to be on it and everything was just haphazardly thrown in there (see photo to compare--both were supposed to be the same dish). It was given to me rudely and with no offer for a refund or discount, even though I wasn't the slightest bit rude to them. And on top of that, the cook was audibly swearing and yelling at the other employee. Unfortunately, my family used to be loyal costumers, but we won't be coming back. The fact that I paid $40 dollars for this is kind of insane? I'm not normally one to complain, but come on. Do better, please. read more

I live in LA and literally fly into Seattle a few times a year and this is 1st stop for me. The best crab cakes hands down in the PNW....the Cesar dressing is amazing. I spend at least $120 on groceries here. To me it's worth it because it quality. I'm definitely far from rich so I know to budget for when I come here lol. This was the first time I actually ordered hot food and I was pleasantly surprised and now craving the Tuna melt Haha. Enjoyed this flavorful squash and pecan winter salad at this very cute, very small boutique seafood counter & gourmet market in Madrona. It looked small but actually ended up being filling enough for a very quick lunch, so don't be deterred by the appearance! I love small markets like this but I do have a couple disclaimers about the shop: *Staff seem too preoccupied to render personal and friendly service. I didn't get greeted upon entering even though they have an open seafood counter that's pretty much half their shop. *I initially was interested in their special-of-day written on the chalkboard, only to find out at check out that it's $30 for a small specialty crab burger I understand high quality foods come with a cost. I also understand that to have a retail space in Madrona during a pandemic costs a more than a fortune... But.... I just couldn't get over the fact that they didn't put the price point up on the board. And that once they gave me the price and my jaw dropped they just brushed it off like "oh yeah, people in this neighborhood can afford that". I feel like the least they could have done was suggest an alternative option instead of me walking sadly to the fridge to fetch this salad. This shop is so cute and has such awesome things, but this experience just put a damper on how I feel about them. Is it just me, or is service in the food/beverage industry declining since the pandemic? Does wearing a mask make things less personal? Do service people see guests as just a body? I miss the days of smiling people across the counter who are actually happy to impart their knowledge on food products they carry and are more than happy to walk you through the store belong you find great things to try. read more

Although they do serve food to eat there, for the most part, this is a neighborhood seafood market. We love the salmon burgers -- there are two varieties, and both are good. With such a small shop, the selection of fish (as in fillets) is fairly limited, but the quality is good. We still go to Mutual Fish, or Wild Salmon when we have need, or Wilson Fish in the Madrona Farmer's Market on Fridays in season, but East Anchor is very handy if we want the fish they have. read more

The salmon cake sandwiches are pretty good, though often salty. You can order online, but they accept ZERO changes. One thing that makes me take pause about returning is the rude, sullen 20-something women behind the counter. I've been in prior and the people were friendly, but on this Saturday, the service was especially unwelcoming. After spending about $80 for an order, I wanted to peruse the shop, but they sharply suggested I wait outside for my order, using Covid as an excuse, meanwhile I was the only customer in the shop. I could have spent another 50 on vinegars, pastas, and cookbooks, but instead I was kicked out to wait for my order on the street. To those women, a big FU. I just went here to grab a quick lunch and was a little nervous all they'd have was salmon (I'm a weirdo in the northwest who just can't stomach salmon) but was delightfully surprised that had many offerings! I got the shrimp ceviche tostada and it was really yummy. So yummy I didn't catch a picture. I also got Mac salad which has a really fun spicy kick. As I was getting rung up I was confronted with a giant delicious looking chocolate chip cookie so you know that had to come home with me too and boy was it yummy. What a great fun spot. I am so very pleased that I discovered East Anchor soon after it opened, because I work right down the street. I eat lunch there about three times a week, and I am always thrilled with the variety this seafood shop offers. In the winter, they usually have a superb housemade soup, and when they don't, they offer a hot sandwich instead. They also make fresh, inventive salads and vegetable dishes daily, not to mention cookies made from scratch! Their consistently delicious lunch options can either be eaten at the shop (they have tables along the window, and you can watch the cute dogs go by while you eat) or you can take your food home with you. I also love everyone on the staff at East Anchor -- they are warm, kind people who love to socialize while they work. Seems like they're always whipping up something new, too! In sum, I think East Anchor is a terrific place to eat, the staff is wonderful and creative, and I definitely think you should check it out. This is my absolute favorite place to get lunch!! I work right around the corner and come here at least twice a week. I usually get the Caesar salad and add crab. It is so tasty!! The tacos were good, but Unfortunately, the salmon burger was both made incorrectly ( wrong toppings) and was way over salted making it practically unedible. If you're going to pay the expensive prices this restaurant charges, you don't expect issues like this. We loved watching folks from the neighborhood come in and all be greeted as friends as they picked up seafood presumably for their dinners that night. I never imagined anyone would open a fresh seafood shop in Madrona - good thing someone has a better imagination than I do! This place is fantastic and so convenient. I'm trying to eat more seafood but I'm über picky about it being fresh and sustainably caught, etc. so I can't believe my luck that this place opened in the neighborhood! I've purchased fresh halibut and prawns so far on two occasions. Both times I was very happy with the quality, freshness and price.
