So fun to shop for fresh veggies and unique food stuff and gifts. Spacious, clean, and brightly lit, Uwajimaya is a great place to Explore and discover new foods. Enjoy!

Shopping in Seattle, Washington... My high school friend recommended Uwajimaya for Asian groceries. I didn't really have a shopping list. I was just browsing... The first thing that I noticed was the paid, shared parking lot. The sign indicated that Customers need to show a receipt with $20 minimum purchase for a 2-hour validation. Uhg! So... I looked for something to eat for lunch... Uwajimaya is a spacious, clean, organized store. I looked at the fresh produce, prepared foods, plushies, personal care items, Asian greeting cards, tote bags, insulated bags, live seafood, etc. I settled on some summer rolls and sushi. They were ok. I don't think I'll return unless I really need to buy groceries.

Had a chance to visit this Asian grocery store after going to the Passport Agency in Seattle. Parking was a frickin' hassle, as always at this location. Limited spots and most of them are small spaces. You also have to pay for parking if you do not buy at least $20.00 worth of groceries. Browsed around the store a bit, got some hot to-go foods from the small food court they had and picked up different drinks, buns, frozen foods and instant ramen. The service at the check-out line was smooth and convenient. The employees were friendly and courteous. Selection of items - fruits, produce, pre-made food items are a bit less than the other Uwajimaya locations, though. Prices are almost the same or similar, but less inventory in my opinion. And a bit less crowded inside, at least the time we went. Overall, had a good shopping experience, so no real issues there. Got almost everything that we basically wanted from the store.

08-30-2025 We came here planning to get several items for our soup. Somehow, we ended up speeding $137.68. No regrets, totally worth it lol. Everything was fresh: Tuna Furikake Poke $19.99/ lb, cilantro $0.99 ea, green onion 2/ $1 etc. While shopping, we lucked out and got a coupon, $15 off with $75 purchase. I think it was Labor Day weekend special, Aug 27th to Sept 2nd. What a deal! Service: Cordial and helpful staff We had a pleasant experience and will return again for more ingredients for our cooking. Enjoy shopping for your groceries y'all! : ) Oh, don't forget to buy your partner or spouse flowers. They are beautiful and inexpensive, $20 a bundle. What a steal!

    The Lucky Box - $12.50

I was recently impressed with their hot bar, especially the Mongolian beef. The thick cuts of tender steak were delicious! I got the Lucky box meal - split fried rice and chow mein, with 2 sides: fried fish and the Mongolian beef. It's so much food that could easily feed 2 people and such a bargain at $12.50. I'm certain this is the best deal you'll find at Uwajimaya. The other hot foods looked good too with many vegetarian options.

Uwajimaya is enormous, like genuinely overwhelming in the best way. You walk in thinking you're just gonna grab a few things, and then suddenly you're standing in front of shelves full of stuff you didn't even know you needed lol. Last night I left with DISHES as if I need more dishes. But anyway - fish and meat quality's been excellent. Got tobiko, wagyu, hamachi, scallop, ama ebi - everything tasted fresh and clean, not a single off smell or weird texture. Super wonderful. Made a few solid meals this week with just what I picked up from there. Didn't need to hit any other store, which is rare. It's expensive, yeah. I def spent $200 this week just in groceries but oh well. The only real annoyance was the mushroom section. Weirdly small + not much variety, which makes no sense for a store this size. Also, PS don't use Instacart for fish. You have to be there to see the cuts yourself. Definitely one of those things you wanna eyeball in person. One of my trips was Instacart and I could 10000% tell the diff in what they picked vs what I picked. Sad bc it saves a lot of time but you rly need to fish shop yourself. Super pleased though :) parking is validated w $20 which you will most certainly be spending lol

Great Japanese market in Seattle's Chinatown district! They have groceries, Japanese snacks and beauty products. They also have an area of prepared foods like musubi and onigiri. They also have a food court area with different vendors, lots of tables and a restroom.

This is quite possibly one of the best Asian grocery stores/food courts that I have been to. So many different items that can be found from all over the world. It is a very busy place with lots of people anytime I'm in Seattle. I definitely try to stop by even if it's just to have a look around. It is well thought out and can take a person many hours. Just looking through the different items that can be purchased. It is an experience that I very much enjoy.

    Japanese Kit Kats

Asian lifestyle store located in Seattle's Chinatown. When you walk in, the ambiance is like a Whole Foods, very clean and organized, and I'm told the produce is very fresh. Huge store with a food court and rows of gatcha/toy capsule machines, but they are very expensive (some were $10+)! All of the prices in general for my go-to Asian snacks were at a premium, but they have a huge variety. They had a TON of Japanese KitKats, but not a large variety, and their Matcha ones were expiring in 2-3 months instead of 6-9 months like the others, so take a look before you buy. Cashier was friendly, otherwise very little interactions with the staff. I would say 3.5 stars, but I'm rounding down to 3 for these prices.

Fantastic Asian grocery store in Chinatown/the International District of Seattle. It feels like this store could have anything and everything that you're looking for, from rare spices and fresh meats and seafoods to all kinds of Asian snacks and beauty products - and it doesn't hurt that there's a food court-type area at one end. Reasonable prices on all items and great deals on things like produce and other Asian culinary staples. Friendly and efficient service as well, and I love that there are some "bonus" store sections (like ROYCE' Chocolate). This place can really cover all your needs - love it.

    Tailgating before Seahawks game
    Kenneth K.

Amazing Japanese supermarket that has been my wife's favorite when she lived here years ago. So many great Japanese and Asian items as well as a great selection of alcoholic beverages which made it a great tailgating spot before a Seahawks game as we had some mochi donuts and taiyaki waffles from the food court. We then went to their wonderful bookstore to buy some gifts. We cannot wait to return, and who knows, maybe one year we we live upstairs at Uwajimaya Village.

    Saddest onigiri ever
    Jordan O.

I'm sorry but this upset me. Went to uwajimaya for an onigiri. They are pretty small here but wasn't complaining. They don't package them properly so the nori sheet never comes out properly and breaks. Again not complaining yet. But to see the sad amount of "filling" used, very upsetting. Tunas not expensive but there's maybe a teaspoon in here. On top of that the rice is hard, so they didn't add anything to keep it soft. $3 hockey puck.

Is there a maximum height on parking? If so what is it?

It's open air parking, I believe

What's the process for getting your parking ticket validated during self-checkout?

Just hand it to the cashier as you're checking out, and it gets validated then. Either the person watching over the self-checkout lines or a regular cashier (I've had to go both routes, different times).

Do they sell Oshogatsu plates for New Years?

I've seen them sell it in the past.

First time renting a car while visiting Seattle. We usually use the LINK and buses to get around when we visit. My brother and I have aways seen the private parking and was wondering if it cost to pay to park here? We are heading down on June.

Not right now. Right now it is free with covid shut down. Free to park in the lot or on the street. And when they do charge again, you get 1 hour free parking with $7 purchase, 2 hours with $$ validation. It's pretty easy!

    Do they have senior discounts?

Hello Chris, seniors get 10% off their purchase on Tuesday mornings, from 8am - 11am.

Does the store sell kpop merchandise and korean beauty products?

I don't recall seeing Kpop merchandise or Korean beauty products at Uwajimaya. They are all Japanese.

Anyone know where I can find dragon's beard candy? It's like cotton candy with peanuts wrapped inside.

Not sure if Uwajimia carries it, but there are a number of vendors on eBay and Etsy that sell it.

Hi, is the man selling fresh roasted chestnuts at Uwajimaya, yet? Also, are there other places I can purchase them? I live in Tacoma so can commute or pay for shipping. Thanks!

Oh yes, he was right there outside the store when I was there. The smell was AMAZING, by the way. Probably should have got some myself, maybe next time. I'm not sure about other places, at least, I wouldn't want to assume anything about the other… Read more

Does anyone know if they have a rewards program so that when I buy a lot there, I can work towards getting stuff cheaper or discounts or something?

No, but every Friday evening you can get 10% off if you have a student ID, and once in a while there are 10% sales or coupons.

Costing under $60, the large cake was beautifully made and decorated. Like other Asian bakeries (e.g. Paris Baguette, Tous Les Jours, 85 C), the cake was chiffon with whipped cream and was quite good. But what made it stand out was how mango and strawberries were incorporated into the design AND how it tasted. Mangoes were thinly sliced and used like fondant to COVER the entire top of the cake. Then chopped mangos and whole strawberries were added on top to decorate it even more. Fondant is great to make the cake look good, but I don't like it as an edible product (it's like eating pure sugar for me). Ripe mango, on the other hand, I could eat all day...and this version was ripe without being overly so. The cake came well packaged in a travel container, and included a cake cutter, signage, and a candle. The four of us could barely make a large dent in it (maybe a 1/3), even though it didn't use buttermilk frosting, but used really good whipped cream instead. I think it's twice the size of a Tous Les Jour large (which is usually what our family gets for birthdays), and wasn't that much more.

When I asked an employee whether any vegetable bao were still available, she told me--clearly and confidently--that there were. I specifically questioned this, pointing to the "sold out" sign, yet she insisted that they were not sold out and proceeded to package four for me. When she handed me the box, I asked again--explicitly--whether these were vegetarian. For a third time, she assured me that they were. After a two-hour drive home, I opened the box to find that I had been given pork bao. This was not a minor oversight. I asked multiple times and received repeated, unequivocal assurances. At that point, this ceases to be a simple mistake and reflects either a complete disregard for accuracy or a willingness to mislead a customer to move product. Neither is acceptable. Customers rely on staff to provide correct information, especially when dietary preferences or restrictions are involved. The failure here was not just operational--it was a failure of basic honesty and accountability. This experience left me feeling violated, disrespected, and taken advantage of. It is extremely disappointing that such conduct can occur in a business that presents itself as reputable. One interaction like this is enough to severely damage trust in the store as a whole.

After placing your order, the staff make your food and then call your name out when your food's ready. Both my friend and I got their longanisa plate, which comes with rice and pancit. Rice is standard and has some sauce on it, while the pancit is lightly salted and makes for a great palette cleanser. The real winner was the longanisa, and you get three thick pieces of them for around $18 after tax!
