My boyfriend and I love having a met market within walking distance to grab a quick bite whenever we don't feel like going out. I'm a super picky eater and I love that there are a variety of options!! Some of my go to favourites are the mini turkey baguette sandwiches, caesar salads and blueberries from the salad bar, and mac n cheese! I love that I can get just about anything I'm craving here and it's fresh and local from from my favourite Ellenos yogurt, to organic strawberries. My boyfriend is absolutely obsessed with how firm the grapes are here. I personally shop at a different grocery store, but whenever I'm buying him grapes they have to be specifically bought from this store because this is where he likes them the best. This was our go-to Metropolitan Market when we were staying in Seattle. It was very similar to a Whole Foods in that they carry upscale more boutique brands as well as hot and cold pre-prepared food, but was amazing in that they also carry brands you'd find at a Safeway or QFC like Pepsi. Towards the end of our stay I primarily shopped here because I felt their brands and quality were more closely aligned with what I prefer versus the QFC down the way and their service was a bit more prompt and helpful. All in all, I loved this location and wish we had them in California. read more

Lesson Learned - I WILL NEVER BUY DELI PREPARED FOOD AT THIS STORE AGAIN. I ordered a chicken sandwich today at the Mercer St store. The deli clerk prepared it and handed it to me. I brought it home to have lunch. The sandwich was inedible. It was so dry and tough that a steak knife couldn't cut it. I would say I couldn't chew it but I literally couldn't tear a bit off to chew to even try it to eat it. That is bad enough but when I called the store "Darren" who answered the phone couldn't be bothered and transferred me to the deli without telling me he was transferring me or who to. The deli person was equally non-phased. They just said, bring your receipt and we will refund your money. I suggested to them that they may want to go check their chicken supply so other customers didn't have the same experience. Even with the price of Met Market, this isn't about the price. I didn't get much but this place seems to be good. They have a poke bar, hot bar, and another one with pickled items and also cheeses. I didn't get anything but it smelled good. They have a nice selection of items and have fresh produce. I was hoping they had taste nirvana coconut water as I saw another review saying they had it, but I couldn't find it so I settled for harmless harvest which is good by pricy. I also got this human hazelnut butter chocolate bar which was so delicious and delectable 100% recommend. Store as very clean as-well. Our cashier was nice, nothing really to say. read more

When I think of a fancy market, I think of Met Market. They were one of the first to have a poke bar, their fresh food case resembles a banquet style flavor profile at a nice hotel, and their chefs in the deli take meats to another level. My favorite go to is the chicken with mashed potatoes. The buttery flavor of this side it's like pillowy and light goodness of flavors. The chicken is perfectly cooked and it reminds me of the restaurant L'Orson. I'm sure there's 3 pounds of butter but I don't care. Their porchetta is lean with the right amount of fat, and the prime rib has the juices running alongside the meat. I always enjoy their stuffing when they make it and green vegetables. I'm not a fan of the carrots but that's very minor. Their food is pretty close to the four seasons restaurant in Seattle and I always feel like I'm getting a deal because the prices are higher and the quality matches. I often like to finish my meal with a The Cookie which is this massive chocolate cookie explosion in my mouth. With all of the food described it's coming out piping hot. Lastly, Met market has a huge selection of n/a spirits and mixers which was new for Seattle a couple years back. Great location, great food, and really wonderful chefs. The ambiance is nice and lower Queen Anne can sometimes be sketchy and sometimes not. Everything is clean and the visual presentation has a Crate and Barrel aesthetic to it which I love. read more

This review is for the self serve poke bar and "the cookie". I was eager to try the poke bar after seeing some videos online. The poke was fresh and delicious but on the pricier side. I enjoyed being able to choose my portion size and mix and match the poke options. I would recommend skipping on the rice, it was not worth it- very weird stale like consistency and since you are paying by weight, I'd go with just poke and seaweed salad next time. "The cookie" is simply wonderful and I recommend visiting the met market just for this cookie! I've brought out of town visitors and they've all agreed that it's the best cookie ever. read more

I came to this place when I was on vacation in Seattle. The cookie is THE cookie for a reason. Hands down, it is the best cookie I have ever had. I am a cookie connoisseur too. It was warm, perfectly sweet, gooey inside, and the walnuts added a great touch! We paired it with vanilla ice cream and wow, it was heavenly. The Queen Anne Met Market is my primary source of snacks and drinks before and after a show in nearby Seattle Center venues. Before a show, buy small snacks to enjoy during intermission. After a show, typically buy a beverage. I don't live nearby, so I rarely buy groceries. They have their own parking lot, free for one hour. They have a security guard at the door to protect the business. I rarely interact with the staff since I use self check-out, but we exchange a friendly hi and bye. They seem to store away their refrigerated desserts in the latter hours. My sweet tooth wants me to check those out after a show, but there are never any. That is the one disappointing element for me. Even "The Cookie" is sold out by then. I suppose fresh is best, but none is worse. Ah well. The store is spacious. I've bought fresh peonies from here and they turned out amazing. The cookie is really worth the hype--similar to Levain cookies from the East coast but not as dense. Be aware that the prices are higher than typical stores here. The self checkout machines are EXTREMELY sensitive so be sure to place the items on the weight counter otherwise the machine starts yelling at you. When walking into MeMa you immediately get a sense of a clean and organized grocery shopping experience. Hot food bar? Yassss. Prepared food? Hells yassss. Produce? Fresh AF. Seafoods and meats? These can be found in the bakery daily during the day on the hot plate. If you find yourself going in on one of these, I highly recommend going into it sooner rather than later. As a side note, I've eaten these cookies the next morning and they're still amazing. The cookie is loaded with warm oozy chocolate chips that fill every bite. It's very plump and definitely more filling than the everyday cookie. The cookie itself has a soft texture, but not too soft that it just falls apart on you. Simply put, it's perfect. I've read other reviews of minority customers being harassed/discriminated against here, and I experienced the same thing today (I'm an asian male). I was so shocked by the experience I had here as this was supposed to be a higher-end grocery store. This review is for the employee Tani E. (white female, light brown hair, tattoos, overweight, yellow shirt) who was working on 6/22/21 at 8:51pm at the checkout stand. Receipt attached for proof. FYI I observed Tani's interaction with the caucasian/non-minority customer in front of me to whom she was perfectly pleasant towards. With the anti-asian hate and bigotry going around, I have no doubt that my race played a part in her aggression towards me. My experience was the below. I was checking out my items, and by the time I finished getting my wallet out and moving my cart to the end of the checkout lane, Tani had almost finished bagging all of my items into just one bag. I noticed that the bag was overpacked and because I was walking home, I politely asked her if she could split the items into 2 bags and I would pay for the extra bagging fee. She rolled her eyes at me, said "maybe you should tell me before I finish bagging everything into 1 bag." She then proceeded to slam my groceries out of the first bag and onto the counter. I was so shocked I couldn't say anything at first. When she finished bagging the items, she shoved the bags to the end of the table, stared at me, and asked, "Well, are you gonna pay or what?" I was so shocked and told her I was sorry I didn't tell her about wanting 2 bags upfront, but she shouldn't be so rude. I then immediately complained to a manager (yes I pulled a Karen), who apologized on her behalf and let me know that they would talk to her, and he suggested I "avoid that line in the future," and also said "you know how everyone has bad days." I told him that yes everyone has bad days, but if you have a bad day you don't go around ruining other people's days. This is sad as I was looking for a nice grocery store in my new neighborhood, but I will NEVER return here again. To the Metropolitan Market corporate team - please take corrective action towards educating your employees on how to have at least basic human etiquette, if not professional customer service skills (or just fire Tani for being a nasty, unpleasant person). To Tani - This is 2021. There's enough shit going on in the world; let's not be nasty people and spread toxicity. I had a most unsavory shopping experience at the Queen Anne location on 2 August 2024. Upon arriving at the self-service check out center at about 10:20 am, an older female clerk told me to leave the area because of the 15 item limit. I asked why she was making a scene when it obviously there hardly anyone in the area and it didn't matter because I was already in the process of checking out. She told me to leave anyway and locked out the self-service machines to prevent me from purchasing my food. I told her that it was not necessary to single me out and create a scene in the store because it was bad form. Later, I walked over to the regular check out counter and asked for the store manager. I told him that the self-service checker was giving me hard time because she simply did not want me over in her area. In essence, the self service checker was an older white woman who did not want to assist a Black person in the store. In a separate shopping experience, on July 6, 2024 a different female checker refused me service. Once I arrived to her station, she immediately walked away and left the area. The checker on the other side pretended that I did not exist and let three other people cut ahead of me in line. I asked both of them, "You don't serve Black people in the store?". To smooth things over another checker opened up her stand and immediately provided service. Someone at the store called over one of the security guards to "keep an eye on me" and also called Seattle Police. I later contacted the security contractor where the guard works and reported the security guard for racial profiling. The white check out staff at Metropolitan Market refused me service and consciously targeted me for racial profiling by calling the security officer and the Seattle Police Department. I will no longer spend my money at any place where its staff express anti-Black racist contempt by words, actions, and deeds. read more
