    Italian sandwich

I had the best Italian sandwich I've ever had from the deli here. The bread was perfectly crusty and the Mayo and peppers balanced all the meats perfectly. I would come back here for that sandwich any day! It was perfection.

It's a neighborhood mainstay and the sandwiches are some of the best in the area.

We love it here! The neighborhood Market that has been serving Phinney Ridge since the late 1960s (I think) is clean, organized and has just enough selection so as not to overwhelm. We once participated in an olive oil tasting and splurged on the delicious bottle of goodness! Staff are often found smiling, greeting and assisting their patrons in a way that is natural rather than a forced part of the job. Many organic items can be found in store, along with staples like cereals found elsewhere, giving shoppers a varied set of choices.

My partner had an unfortunate interaction with an employee at Ken's. It wasn't a horrible interaction, in the scheme of things, but the kind that might stick with a person, so we took it to Shayna, the store manager. It makes a difference to me, how issues are addressed. Shayna was perfect - sincerely concerned with wanting her customers to feel comfortable in the store - kind and generous and attentive in her reply. No small thing, in my mind. We love this neighborhood store. Great selection, great people, great customer service. Love how they continue to stay connected to their community, caring about the people, supporting local organizations, and sourcing local products. (haven't tried Yonder Cider, but have met the employees, and heard rave reviews)

In my opinion, Ken's is a great neighborhood grocery store, family owned, and invested in the community.

Bonus: this spot is kosher! Potato Latkes (5/5): These latkes are thick boys and fried up so they're piping hot when they hit the table. Because of their size, you really get the contrast of the hard crunch on the outside with super fluffy potato inside. So good we immediately turned around and ordered more. Chocolate Babka (2/5): This was truly the only miss I've had here. Unfortunately, the babka just really dries out after it's been sliced, which is a shame because it's just gorgeous with generous swirls of chocolate inside. Reuben (5/5): I really thought their pastrami couldn't be beat, but the brisket is dare I say better? Just as tender and feels a bit less fatty, so it's a little more crushable. Tip: go for the seeded rye over the marbled rye; something about the marbled rye just falls apart a bit more with the juices of the meat, though it's still delicious! Black & White Cookies (4/5): I expected this to be cloyingly sweet, but this was actually scrumptious with some fresh lemon flavor in the cookie itself. Absolutely massive as well.

Do you happen to live in Washington and miss said pastrami sando? My friend, I have good news for you. Dingfelder's pastrami is a dead ringer for that sandwich: huge slices of melt-in-your-mouth pastrami, regular and half sour pickles, and all the other accoutrements you'd expect from a legit Jewish deli. This place doesn't screw around. If you want a great, hearty, flavor-packed sandwich, this is one of the best places to throw your money. But, as others have pointed out, it's no cheap date: expect to pay over $20 for one of those mighty pastrami sandwiches. This isn't Subway so you're not saving money by eating here, but after one bite of their pastrami you'll understand why you're paying so much. Quality isn't cheap. I'd say this place is tied with Tat's Deli for the best sandwiches in Seattle.

Wings and fries are fantastic. There's almost always a line, at least during lunch. There's inside seating and a few tables outside. Location is awesome. I'd heard they were good, but holy smokes, I didn't realize they would be *that* good. Here are my recommendations: - Get the Tatstrami. Its combination of flavors is so freaking good. - Order online and then sweep in and pick it up. Since the place does most of its business during lunchtime, there's always a line and this is a way to skip that. If you want to venture beyond a pastrami sandwich, I highly recommend the chicken cheesesteak. While I normally opt for beef when it comes to cheesesteaks, Tat's actually isn't amazing but their chicken one is. So get that instead. In short, this is tied with Dingfelders for the best sandwich in Seattle. Pay it a visit and bring your appetite.
