This place serves up crazy good sandwiches. My husband and I stopped by today and each were feeling in the mood for a veggie option. We got the Veggie Coaster and Veg Out Avocado and went halfsies on each. Soooooo tasty. The Veggie Coaster is a hit sandwich with such a good balance of flavours. We loved the Field Roast deli "meat" and pesto aioli. The Veg Out is a cold sandwich although the bread is still perfectly toasted. It's crunchy, fresh, and also has some fabulous garlic aioli on it. Great hot sandwiches. I had the turkey coaster and it was so tasty. My husband got the bullrider and was also a fan. We grabbed drinks and chips while waiting for our sandwiches to finish, but they have tons of other snacks and things inside their small location. Got the Italian for my lunch while waiting for my flt. home. The sandwich was huge, and it had lotsa good stuff in it. Overall, I'm a fan. However, I'd go lighter on the Italian dressing. There was so much dressing that the sandwich was basically drenched. When I'm back in Seattle, I'll make sure to swing by again, and this time, I'll let them know to go very light on the dressing. read more

The new management has brought the place back to when Won ran the place. The last most recent management ran the place down with terrible overpriced selections and low quality sandwiches. The new management really cares. The selections are top notch, the pricing is reasonable (as reasonable as possible in Seattle), great sandwich quality and they even brought back outside seating. I've been here 10 years. I missed the old experience. I'm glad we now have someone who cares. read more

I'm not usually a sandwich person, but I really enjoyed their Thanksgiving-style turkey sandwich--it was delicious and full of flavor. It's like a bodega and I'm fortunate enough to live close to it! They have great sandwiches and they're pretty good value as well! I've tried everything they have on the menu and I've loved them all! I would recommend the bull rider to anyone who hasn't had it yet. Sometimes, they make special sandwiches for a limited time such as the carribean roast pork. Make sure to snatch those limited time sandwiches up when they're available! They really are something else. The sandwiches get to you fairly fast but they can get busy so make sure to call ahead of time if you're in a rush. It's also got some groceries so you can pick up snacks, drinks or whatever you need along with a scrumptious sandwich. I'll admit there's not really much out nearby so it can be a bit of a ways away from everything else. read more

The team ordered their food and was given an attitude about what they ordered, giving us the wrong sandwich completely and demanding we made the mistake. She gave us two of our guys sandwich and when we asked what sandwich is what, she yelled at us saying, "it's on the sandwich". I Love Lyons. I used to live in Westlake and would often walk a couple blocks most mornings to get a breakfast sandwich and a coffee. The owners are nice and will recognize you for coming in a lot. They were also very understanding when I ordered something with pine nut pesto on accident (I'm allergic to nuts) and let me re order without paying for the second sandwich. My personal favorites were the breakfast sandwich and the Ave but I have only ever heard good things about the rest of the menu. Definitely worth a trip to see for yourself! read more

We have been coming to lyons weekly for over 4 years, and as other comments are saying, the new team taking over for the long beloved previous owner has lost the plot. Twice in a row now the sandwiches portion sizes, presentation and quality have slipped dramatically. They don't even wrap the hot sandwiches in foil anymore to give them their signature delicate crunch and moisture. This used to be the best bodega in Seattle, serving a hangover curing bacon egg and cheese that would make Ocky's blush. Unfortunately, the music appears to be gone. Hoping the team can turn it around before it's too late, and the property is sold for scraps. Edited review from 3/5 to 2/5 after eating: tastes nothing like the OG. I'm a little torn about how to review Lyon's Grocery. It has received fairly good reviews over the years, primarily for to go sandwiches. I'm always looking for a good pastrami sandwich so I have been there several times over the past few years. Each time I've been satisfied with my sandwich, the last time it was an Italian style sandwich, but never felt it was very special. My previous review with this place was 5 stars, then the amazing owners sold the place a couple months ago or so and it went down hill fast. First, the young lady behind the counter most days is so rude, The shelves go bare for weeks and limited restocking and when they do it's not necessarily with the same product as before, especially bottled carbonated drinks but other items as well). There's a newer young lady (who started right after the new owners took over) who works the register who at first seems really nice but she lied to me when I asked about why the shelves weren't being restocked and she told me they were restocked the day before but they had a rush and everything was wiped out again in a days time (which made me laugh cuz it waWednesday and I come in sometimes 2-3 times a day and I knew she was lying) and she has messed up my called in sandwich orders the last 3 times now and the minute you question her, like I did today, she launches into irrational anger and refunded my sandwich order and while bullying me accused me of bullying her. It was so so weird. The staff that works evenings is excellent btw, one of them carried over from the previous owners and he's awesome. Probably shouldn't admit this but my partner and I easily spend $100-150/week at this store, sometimes more, but no more. My previous review here: Ones of the things you'll note from third review is that three shelves were well stocked before as well as a "pile" protein, especially tuna salad. But not the case anymore... Love this place, I moved nearby a year ago and come here all the time (usually daily) for the various items, it's a well stocked mini market. And the sandwiches are excellent, for example most sandwich places give you all bread and very little protein, but Lyons gives you a pile of protein (i have to be carful when I eat the tuna salad sandwich cuz chunks will fall out of the sandwich if I'm not careful, it's wonderful) and their breakfast sandwiches are to die for..... read more

Oh my goodness. My husband discovered this hidden treasure in Queen Anne during the pandemic recently and now it has become our favorite sandwich spot overall! It is a little grocery store but they also cook delicious sandwiches you must try for lunch! The first sandwich I tried (and only one I've gotten so far) is the Feisty Cajun. It is definitely not super spicy (I love my spicy foods!) but there is a slight kick to it! I love how generous they are with the amount of protein they include in their sandwiches, and the amount of each ingredient is PERFECT! I always have a problem with the bread being too thick/thin but Lyons' sandwiches has the perfect thickness of bread. My husband's favorite sandwich is the Bull Rider - this one also has a nice kick to it with Mama Lil's sweet hot peppers. Still not super spicy but the peppers add a great kick overall. :) The size of their sandwiches are also the perfect size as well. In fact, I can't finish mine in one sitting so I have leftovers for later in the day when I'm craving a snack. Swing by this cute little gem in Queen Anne if you are craving a sandwich! Lyon's Grocery is a hidden gem in Queen Anne! I had to swing by their deli to try their NY Club based on a co-workers suggestion. Man oh man... It did NOT disappoint. 100% would recommend! Keep in mind that the deli hours do vary from the store hours. I believe they are also closed earlier on Sundays vs what's on some of the older menu's that are pictured on Yelp. Parking: There is no parking lot available here. You can pull up to the side and there's a 30 minute parking and also plenty of street parking available. Sandwich: The NY Club has turkey, ham, bacon, Swiss cheese, Vermont cheddar cheese, coleslaw, in house Russian dressing all on a sub roll. The sandwich was probably pressed on a sandwich press before it was wrapped up. With every bite, you could taste the crunch of the bread and see coleslaw and dressing oozing out of the sandwich. It had the perfect amount of layers and it was an absolute treat! Pair it with a drink and bag of chips from Lyon's Grocery and you'll have the perfect meal! read more

Depending on when you go, if you drive by, you may never know whether they make sandwiches, but trust me, the hidden deli, in this hidden building, surrounded by homes, knows how to make a sandwich. .. This definitely reminds me of the small sub shops you may find on the East Coast. A mom and pop shop deli + grocery/bodega. Sure the groceries are going to be a little expensive depend on what you are looking for or needing, but what you should really come here for is the sandwich! .. The personal favorite is the bull rider! Mama's little peppers, roast beef, onions, toasted to perfection! Packs a whole lot of flavor! They also offer some great vegetarian sandwiches with actual protein instead of just a mountain of lettuce, tomato, and vinegar. If you are running on a tight schedule, you can always call in ahead to place an order for your sandwich! Stop by at the parking out front, grab your sammie, something to drink, and be on your way! I have heard that they have great breakfast sandwiches too, but have not been able to try one yet! This is a place worth driving to, or sending a runner in the office to pickup sandwiches for everyone! Give it a try, you will be glad you did! ... As a bonus, they also have a decent beer and wine selection. Their beer prices are actually cheaper than the QFC off of mercer too. What I can't get is previous ownership stayed and trained new owners. After new ownership Sammy's are not good. Mayo is tavern quality purchased 2 frozen items and both were globs at one side meaning they unfroze vertically then refrozen. Attention to detail is lost. Predict store closure within a year. My favorite place in Westlake so far. I just moved here a few weeks ago, and I am in love with this place already! One day I was looking for good quality coffee beans and milk... found it. Another day I wanted to grab some good beer... they have a great selection. Lots of wine too. Need a cheese board? I was able to find cheese, salami and crackers. This place is amazing. Did I mention their sandwiches are also great! I am not saying that you will eat the best sandwich in your life, but they hit the spot every time. Great hole in the wall sandwich spot. You'd think it's just a grocery store on the outside but the hot sandwiches are fantastic.
