I was in Seattle for only 5 days, but I made sure to stop by Lyon's twice. It's a cute, tidy little shop stocked with all of the amenities you'd need - groceries (frozen, boxed, even some fresh), toiletries, booze, etc. The workers are very nice, and the whole place is run very efficiently. But the real joy of Lyon's are the delicious sandwiches! I ordered both the breakfast sandwich (with an amazing herb aioli) and the tuna melt. I was very happy with both sandwiches - delicious! And the prices are very reasonable. If you're in the area and looking for a good sandwich place, definitely stop by. Also, know that you can call in ahead of time to avoid waiting. read more

I want to leave five stars because the sandwiches are amazing and the regular cashier guy is amazing. However, the guy I interacted with today not great. I go here frequently enough to know that they are fast sandwich makers (maybe takes 5 mins at most unless they are busy). I stopped in at 5:44 (they close at 6) thinking okay unless they are swamped I can still easily order a sandwich without going past their closing time. I've worked retail, I hate the people who come a minute or two before closing. However, I was told the deli was closed despite the hours being until 6. If that is your policy to close your orders 15-20 mins before close, please note that on your website or adjust your hours. There wasn't a line or anything. Guy just seemed unhelpful and did not offer any reason (large order, staffing shortage etc.) as to why they closed early. read more

This is the perfect neighborhood grocery. They have the small ins and outs that you might need for your pantry, solid beer selection, and a surprisingly strong wine selection. Staff is friendly and they have treats for your pup if you have them with you. The sandwiches here are some of the best in the city. I been coming here for years since I moved up and previous owners were great people making amazing sandwiches and they helped me adjust to the neighborhood and Seattle in general. I used to get their sandwiches once or twice a month and have a nice chat with the owners, but now with the new ownership, quality of customer service and the sandwiches have tremendously gone down. I see empty shelves and it is no longer being restocked and there's a new worker behind the counter with dreads and she threw a hissy fit at me just because I asked for a bag and she said "For the love of God, here is your bag". She also caused the phone line to be down for about a hour or so and customers couldn't make phone orders for the time being; she didn't really acknowledged it or even apologized. Love their sandwiches! Just moved in up the street and so happy to have this little gem a stones throw from my condo. I usually get the Bronx or the Brooklyn on rye. I think I like the corned beef more than the pastrami. Love their homemade sauerkraut. It is made with red cabbage and has a great texture and flavor. Adds something unique to the mix. This little store is chock full of stuff floor to ceiling. Would love to see a daily soup added in the winter. There is a reason for the long lines here during weekday lunches. Lyon's grocery is a hidden gem of a deli located right off Dexter ave. I thankfully happen to live in the 'hood and finally stopped in recently to grab a quick lunch (what took me so long!?). I've been into the store before to grab some beer or wine but this was my first time getting a sandwich. Arriving around 12 on a Friday the line was already wrapped all the way through the store (socially distant, of course). By the time I got up front I had some time to look over their great menu. There are a few veg friendly options that use vegan meats and fresh veggies as well as boars head meats for the classics. After ordering you wait outside for a few minutes (there are two tables if you want to stay) and they bring your good out to you. With how busy it was and only two people working there, they are really cranking this sandwiches out. Its worth the wait to come here to grab a delicious, fresh, sandwich if you're part of the work from home crowd in the Dexter/Westlake area. read more

There's no reason not to give this place 5 stars. It reminds me of the bodegas I frequented in Brooklyn, the prices are reasonable for a tiny "oops-i-forgot-waffle-mix" corner mom and pop, and they make a mighty fine sandwich. The sandwich is the star of the show, even though they carry fine wines, beer, and enough of a cheese and meat selection to pull together a last-minute charcuterie plate. My husband and I shared a Bronx Bomber (made with pastrami) and a Brooklyn Rueben (made with corned beef). Both hit the spot. And those aren't the only hot sandies they have. This place changed hands about two years ago, so it is just fair to ignore all the reviews in 2015 and before. This is a tiny, maybe 450sq/ft, convenience store and they don't have the space to buy their products in large, discounted quantities to compete with supermarkets/grocery stores. I know these things and I know their predicament because I was in this line of business for 23 years . It is unfair to complain about the price of any place, as one has the freedom of choice to shop elsewhere. The current owners and their friendly, uber-professional staff are a gem to this neighborhood, just like the previous owner was. They make great, absolutely great sandwiches here. Driving by, you might not realize Lyon's sells sandwiches. It is primarily a corner store, but the sandwiches are the main event. Really good ingredients: Boar's Head meats, tasty bread, fresh produce. Really well done sandwiches. This place gets 5 stars because of the addition of the AMAZING fresh, hot sandwiches now on offer. They use Boar's Head meats, Essential Bakery bread and homemade sauces. Dexter is somewhat of a food desert, and this is a much welcome addition to the neighborhood. The Caribbean Pork Roast is awesome (similar to another very famous sandwich in town), as is the Roasted Vegetable or breakfast sandwich, Owners are super nice too, giving treats to all the good dogs in the neighborhood.
