They have a huge selection of Vietnamese food and it makes me feel at home as someone who was born and raised in Korean town of Tacoma. LAM'S SEAFOOD MARKET @ SEATTLE Parking is available in their lot, but it is one-way only, so once you enter, you'll have to loop around unless you find a spot right away. Unfortunately, this area is one of the rougher parts of Seattle. There are a lot of unhoused individuals nearby, and during our visit, there were people openly using drugs outside, which felt pretty unsettling while shopping. My mom and I have been coming here for the past 10 years, and it's honestly sad to see how much this area has declined over time. We were able to find parking and go inside, but the store itself feels very rundown and poorly maintained. It doesn't seem like there's been much effort put into renovating or updating the space. I wouldn't recommend buying fresh produce here, there were a lot of flies, and overall it didn't feel clean. The store feels sturdy but very old, and the overall ambiance is outdated. If you do stop by, I'd only recommend picking up canned or sealed items from brands you already trust. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this location unless you absolutely need something in an emergency. Lam's Seafood in Tukwila, on the other hand, is much better, it's bigger, cleaner, and feels a lot safer with no major issues in the surrounding area. Compared to that location, I would strongly avoid this one. It's disappointing to see how much it's changed over the years. read more

Absolutely will never step foot in this place again. The area was horrifying. My parents were visiting from out of town, and we stopped by to grab food for dinner. We've been coming to Lam's for years now. Their prices started out amazing but have gone up just like everything now. There are still great deals on produce, sauces & Asian noodles. Our go to produce items are usually basil, cilantro, green onions, ginger, garlic, bean sprouts & lemon grass. We also get rice noodles, chili garlic sauce, fish sauce, red curry & sesame oil at great prices. We have gotten some marrow bones, short ribs & shrimp there but we prefer to shop for our meat & seafood at Costco. Honestly the smell in those departments is really off putting to us. There also is a large freezer section with lots of Asian dishes as well as prawns & shrimp. If you're making any Asian dishes this is the place to get all of your unique ingredients at a great price! read more

I agree with other reviews, don't buy their precooked stuff (there are indeed flies flying around a lot of the time) and shady mask practices. They leave coconut milk desserts outside of the fridge and I've bought some home and they were spoiled and fermented. I bought seafood here and it was mostly fine but I noticed steep increase in prices relative to last year! I bought 2 live Dungeness crabs with missing claws (cheaper than intact ones) and they were $60 total. This is the same price I can get from some restaurants already cooked with claws, too! Black mussels and clams were $5 a pound, same cost as Whole Foods! I will probably be looking elsewhere for seafood in the future. I bought a fresh "dead" lobster once at a discount and it was totally not worth it. Would not do it again. I don't mind shopping in grungy markets where the floors are dirty and the meat section smelly but at least make your prices cheaper. If you're going to make your prices same as Whole foods, I'm not shopping here anymore. The only things I like buying here are exotic vegetables, fruits, and herbs. Condiments and prepackaged foods are good things to get here, too. They have quite a selection and the prices for products are still good. I prefer buying asian produce and prepackaged food here compared to Uwajimaya or Asian Food Market up north. Stay away from dead seafood, meats, and the deli. read more

I have been shoping at this location for the last 8 years, since I work in the area, I tipically buy couple of spring rolls for lunch. Today, March 15th. 2024, as I was leaving the market, some young fellow, a business employee demanded to see my receipt. There are couple of issues here. Firstly, I do not pull out my wallet in public, mostly within 10-20 feet away from what was cleartly transient population, that hangs around the entrance of the business. Secondly I tend to not respond to demands from whomever, some young and disrespectful fellow, younger than my sons, who's yet to dicover the inticacies of polite speech in public. Finally if he was that curious, he could have watched the inside of the store insted of hanging out in the parking lot. As I was avoiding this fellow, others came around and shortly I was surrounded by 6 to 8 people, talking over eacheother shoving and pushing me. I asked with a louder voice to be left alone. At that point one other employee rips my food out of my hand, and as I turn around to see who he is, forcefully throws the mangled my food packages into my chest. To put it in clear terms, I was assaulted on the business premises, by a business employee, who took my food and hit me with it. After which he took a boxer's stance, and invited me to punch him. I called the police and filed an assault report. One more point: once I paid for the food the food was mine. Taking it out of my hands, against my will, that is theft! Be very careful shopping here: these people will steal your food and assault you with it! Lucky if you walk away unharmed! Whoa. Now I know why people flock to this place. it's always jammed packed when I drive by, which makes me not want to go. I hate crowds and it seems like a place where people are going to play bumper cars. Like most places, you have to look through everything but the proteins looked pretty fresh. I shop at Lam's because they sell good food at decent prices, but when I came the most recent time I heard RATS squealing and running from behind the walls. They need to remove the rat infestation because nobody wants to buy food from a place so unhygienic. It's no surprise that they have a rat problem due to the place being quite dirty and unsanitary. Nice to have something like this in the area - the produce is decently cheap, but there's an issue with some of it being past its prime. Once purchased some galangal, only to have it immediately mold the next day...which isn't great and suggests that corners are cut to revive produce on its way out. I have been going to Lam's Seafood for many, many years now, since it first opened. They had not yet expanded with the covered produce area and no expanded parking. Back then, it was much cleaner, make that much, much cleaner. In the recent years, the place has become much more dirty with limited extensive cleaning. All the extensions seem hodge-podge, with refrigerated and frozen cases plugged in and never cleaned. I stopped buying their cooked foods. BUT, I still go for the fresh produce area. They have one of the biggest selections in reasonable prices. Occasionally, I may buy from the seafood tanks, but I usually prefer to buy from the standalone seafood stores. I haven't bought meat for a long time from Asian markets; they are not USDA labeled. Located in Chinatown, with it's own parking lot and underground parking. My husband and I decided to come out here on Sunday night to get some seafood to cook at our vacation rental. If you go towards the back, you will find the seafood part of the market (in the front of the store are produce, dry goods, etc). My husband spotted the oysters and decided to get some. So as he scooped out the ones he wanted, I held out the bag for him to place it in (thank goodness there is a restroom available with soap and running water because he did not place the oysters in the bag very nicely without it getting on me). Towards the front, by the registers, there are some baked goods and also cooked food you can pick up. We ended up getting a few Che dessert cups (those Vietnamese desserts with the jelly chewy things in a pudding or coconut milk drink, etc) and a rolled vanilla cake (what good would a vacation be without desserts?). I only come here because they sell exotic fruits you can't by elsewhere. Other than that, this place is extremely filthy and I'm pretty sure it violates every health code possible. On many occasion, I see one of the workers taking out the overfilled bag of trash while bumping into all of the produce and food without a care in the world. The "fresh" seafood is living in dirty, muddy waters that makes BP's oil spill look clean. Many of the fruits are on their way to rotting, but they package the food underneath the fresh fruits so buyers are unaware of the bad fruits below. LAMs is one of our favorite asian markets in the international district. We were introduced to it by a fellow browser at Pike Market when we first arrived in Seattle. My husband was oohing and ahhing over some very beautiful, very expensive scallops at a Pike Market vendor, and a local guy turned to us an said, "Yeah, but have you tried LAMs? Best prices on seafood in Seattle, and great selection." Well, being new to town, we immediately decided to check LAMs out, and while I prefer the quality of the seafood at Mutual Fish (nearby), LAMs Seafood comes in a much more cost effective second place. Unlike Mutual Fish, which is a seafood only operation, LAMs has almost everything else as well. Its got an impressive produce section with all the basic American friendly produce (asparagus, strawberries, blueberries, cherries, raspberries, basil) and lots of hard to get fresh Asian ingredients (fresh Hawaiian rambutan, jackfruit, kefir limes, lotus root, purple basil, japanese eggplant, fresh lycee, etc.) Parking is crazy, but they just added a second lot, which helps. The shopping aisles are way too small making it like a virtual bumper car situation, however if you have any familiarity with Asian markets, you'll know this is par for the coarse, and the selection of ingredients makes this worth a visit. read more

Oh my! Just had some excellent crab for dinner that my parents got from Lam's. I was at Costco with them the other day mentioning about the cheap crabs they had there. They mentioned how crab is best when it is bought live and prepared. So we headed to the I-District for one. I guided them to Lam's instead of the other nearby places based off the Yelp recommendations and the fact that seafood is part of the shop's moniker. That has to mean something! As we walked over there after having dim sum, we came across a huge traffic jam right in front of the store. Even an attendant there to direct cars. The place was super crowded. As other Yelpers have written, this place is super tight and hard to maneuver. But it is amazing the amount of stuff they cram in here. The seafood selection here is pretty extensive. Many varieties of fish offered here. They also have several tanks for tilapia, lobsters, crabs and oysters (Manila and Kumamoto!). Bought a jumbo crab that was $3.49/lb. Woah! So good prepared with ginger and green onion BTW. Like other stores nearby, they have the usual selection of meats, fruits and vegetables. Interestingly the fruit is put at the front of the store whereas the produce in the far right corner. They also have a deli in store near the registers offering many Vietnamese dishes and drinks. Pricing on some things are cheaper here, but some cost more than nearby Hau Hau Market. Probably best to shop at both for the best value. Like Lam's for it's seafood selection. But just be aware that this place is bustling and can be hard to get around the store when it is crowded with shoppers. read more

I don't review many markets but I was impressed when I came here to grab a few items . They have fresh seafood and ridiculously affordable prices. I Can imagine this is what shopping at the market in Vietnam feels like . Although the aisles are tight , you can get around to the aisles quicker because you won't have to walk far in between the tight aisles. The crowded spaces keep me moving and prevent me from idling and buying more than I need. Cheap and fresh produce and the cashiers are knowledgeable and friendly . Plan to go early when they open to avoid too much foot traffic and crowded parking lines. I would like to give a review only for the delivery system of the store. I have to say that I like this store because the varieties of product they have at this store match my needs. From my experiences, it looks like this is the only Asian grocery store that would deliver on the same day that you order. The app is easy to use but not so accurate since there are lots of thing that are not available. The app offers the delivery time that is not the store hours (so if you don't know about their hours and you pick those time windows, you would not get your order delivered and it would be very hard to contact someone since nobody is working during that time). Also, when you have an issue with delivery, it doesn't seem like anyone at the store would know what was going on and where is your order. The delivery is also not on-time. Anyway, I just wanted to say that the app is not so reliable and the delivery management still has lots of space that should be improved. Otherwise, I love the products and the prices of the produces at this store are reasonable. I would prefer to shop here in person since the staffs are very nice but as a person who doesn't live in the area and appreciate that they have delivery service, I would like to give this review that might be useful for the store to improve in the future. read more

Typically a place like this would give me anxiety. Small narrow spaces, large crowd, and a lot of disorganization, but Lam's reminds me of my childhood. My parents used to take me to Vietnamese grocery stores all the time growing up. The sense of community, Asian snacks, and fresh seafood smell makes me feel nostalgic. The affordable price of meats, the convenient deli in the back, and being able to practice my Vietnamese keeps me coming back. This place isn't for everyone, but it's definitely an experience, and not for the light-hearted. read more

Looking for some alternative grocery shopping options I came across Lam's Seafood Market and decided to go there on a Saturday afternoon. As everywhere else it felt as if the whole city went out for groceries, but at least we found street parking right in front of the store. It's an open market, so be prepared for cooler temperatures in the winter and some flies in the summer I would guess. And don't be fooled by the name, they carry a lot more that just seafood! It starts with fresh fruits and vegetables, dry goods, ready-prepared-meals, then you can get fresh chicken, pork, beef and of course lots of seafood. I understand, that people don't like how the store looks, but if you ever went grocery shopping in a local market in other (mostly) southern countries (like Italy, Spain,...) you won't see any problems. It is not your let's-eat-from-the-floor-clean-chain-Supermarket and that is totally fine for me. I wash my stuff at home either way ;) We made some delicious beef tenderloin, had some nice fruits and made Vietnamese summer rolls with shrimps and chicken. Even though it was pretty crowded I had a good time and we took so many delicious treats with us home that I can't wait to come back. I hate to sound mean and have a soft spot for one sweet cashier lady that reminds me of my mother but please be forewarned of possible cross-contamination in the deli due to all the huge flies in the store. Lam's has been around for a long time and I'm sure they'll take care of the issues I'm talking about below. *** This afternoon, I was sold some old, spoiled wild Alaskan spotted prawns. I was looking forward scoring FRESH prawns and deli food, instead I pretty much wasted $20 on old thawed out and spoiled seafood. The meat just crumbles into my hand and is inedible. On the bright side, better to have it crumble in my hand then digest in my stomach. Gigantic flies are taking over the deli. They have premade spring rolls and grilled meats along with hot foods at great prices. But today, after walking through the grocery store for 10 minutes, I noticed huge flies buzzing around landing on raw meats, produce and even settling into the food behind the deli case glass. I skipped out on the food but thought I would be ok with the seafood purchase. Nope. The products are affordable and you're probably fine picking up a few condiments and canned goods but unless you have a street market stomach, watch out for the possibly spoiling meats, produce and fly seasoned food. read more

They tried to stage a lot of stuffs within the spaces they have, so a little crowed and narrowing isle ways. Also watch out for outdated products or rotten seafood. Got some dead (rotten) shrimps with the live spotted shrimps I paid close to $19.00 a pound. Attached is the expired noodle sold at Lam's Seafood Market. I called no one pickup, plus it's too far for my wife and I to turn back just to get our refund. Hard to spot the molded noodle, and hard to see the dead rotten shrimps they slipped in with the live ones since the bag is closed and priced for us. Just a little something to be aware of. Will put my car at risk parking here so I can get my one stop shopping trip for cheap Asian food! Ok, so parking is pain in the butt and it smells (but hey, what store in Chinatown does not smell right?). BUT large selection of fruits, vegetables, dried goods, meat, seafood, and how can I forget junk food?! All year round: I go here for all kinds of food, especially junk food and snacks. 90% of their junk food area is better than most deli. Summer: I go here for rau muon and all fresh vegetables. Cheapest and freshest in town for the most part. Yeah, some places may be a bit cheaper on a few items, but hey, would you really want to find parking in Chinatown for 10cent cheaper banana and banana only elsewhere? They also have fresh Jackfruit!!! At only 99cent a pound, it's even cheaper than watermelon! Oh I can't forget the yummy yellow mangos!! OMG, so cheap and delish! Fall: Persimmons galore!! I've bought 10+lbs of persimmons here because they were so fresh and cheap! And I was one of the few customers with the smallest bags of permissons walking out. Of course, I can't leave out pears and other goodies in the summer! Winter: Well it gets a little cold, so I avoid driving her often, I still go here for meat, fish, and other needed Asian veggies. Spring: Go here to get fruits for the Tet festival! So cheap!! What to avoid: grapes and items that are popular at American stores, why? Because you're at an Asian grocery store of course!!
