    Hubad, chicken and garlic rice
    Kristin U.

My familiarity with Filipino food is limited to chicken adobo and lumpia, so was excited when my husband booked a table at Musang. And the food here has something extra. The pancit molo dumplings were fantastic, followed by the savory fried chicken with gravy and garlic rice. Also had the. lumpiang hubad, a slaw with coconut dressing, a perfect pairing with the chicken. Finished with the banana pudding, rich and sweet and creamy. Cool setting in a converted house, and worth the short trek to North Beacon Hill.

For brunch, Food is great! Props to the chef! My only thing is that the bangus fish is not boneless. Lots of bones to weed through. Also, I wish they had more no-sugar coffee/drink options. The only coffee option was kopiko coffee which is too sweet for my personal tastes Now for the service, the servers barely paid attention to our table of 2. Not once did they ask if we wanted more food. My partner wanted another cup of kopiko coffee but all they did was take the dirty dishes away. We even held onto a Menu thinking that we would order more! In my opinion, that 22% service fee should only go to the chef and kitchen team. To be honest the service almost ruined the food experience for us.

We made it to Musang for a Saturday lunch after trudging around Judkins Park for the Crosslake Connection opening. I was a bit worried about going without a reservation, but when we arrived a bit past noon, the place was only around half full. Seems like it's way more popular for dinner! Fried chickenJOY + Gravy + Waffle ($31) - The chicken is heavily breaded and crisped up nicely in fryer, giving a very robust crunch. It's completely dark meat chicken and cut into pieces for easy eating. I especially love how they have pieces of fatty breaded skin floating around. I actually like the skin more than the meat given that the interior is on the dry end of things. It's surprising given the more forgiving nature of thigh and Musang's reputation. The waffle is quite unique. It has kind of a gritty interior but the texture is otherwise interesting due to the mochi-like rice flour chew. While it has the Ideal crisp exterior, the interior is dense and dry. It really needs moisture to liven things up. The moisture comes in two forms. Firstly, fragrant sweet and citrusy syrup. It's not so much of a liquid as a thickened honey. Fantastic flavor, but the small drizzle isn't enough for the mass of waffle! Secondly there's a side bowl of typical brown gravy. It's unfortunately served at room temperature, which gives it time to become lumpy and congealed. Meh. (4/5) Short Rib Beef Tapa Silog ($24.50) - Served on a trimmed circular banana leaf, this dish comes with a variety of different things. The star of the show is supposed to be the short rib. They include two large slices, which are very fatty and tender and give off an exceptional smokiness. The taste is very similar to Korean galbi with a sweet soy umami. It's far too salty though. I had to have my glass of water refilled four times after eating about 3/4 of a piece. All 3 of my dining companions tried the short rib and agreed it was way too salty. My wife and I ended up not finishing this dish because we were so bloated with how much water we had to drink. This level of saltiness is okay if there's enough other stuff, preferably more bland, on the plate to counteract the saltiness. In this case, there's only a small scoop of peppery and garlicky rice. It has very distinct grains and fantastic mouthfeel. Unfortunately that small scoop isn't nearly enough for the dish as a whole. There should be way more rice, like at least 3x or 4x for the amount of meat. There are some atchara pickles, which I originally thought were thinly sliced daikon pickled mixed with carrot. It's well pickled and tastes totally different from pickled daikon given the mellow fruity note. There's also some vinegar dip. Combined with the pickles, it's enough acid to cut through the fattiness of the short rib, but both are relatively salty, which boosts the sodium levels through the roof. (4/5) I was expecting to be blown away by the food at Musang given all the accolades and high ratings. The flavors are there, but I came out a little underwhelmed due to some of the major technical flaws in the food. Unfortunately the quality for price ratio just isn't there. Perhaps dinner service is higher quality? Bathrooms - Single unisex room Note: Musang charges a 22% service charge. This is noted on the menu

10/10 would recommend. Musang is a tasty lil gem in Seattle. I sat at the bar and felt very taken care of in terms of speed, recommendations, and giving me space to enjoy my meal. Ended up getting the pork and a side of garlic rice and would order again. The spice on the space was soooo good. I've also never had bibingka (if mochi and corn bread had a baby) and the texture was insane - note that this is in both the appetizer and dessert menu and is very versatile. One thing I'd call out is that there isn't a veg with the main and would be an additional thing you'd need to order. I was full with just these dishes and had some to take home...so it's doable as a solo diner, but best for small group to try all the things!

Musang is one of the top Filipino restaurants in Seattle known for their authentic yet inventive takes on Filipino cuisine. To get here, there is street parking all around the area. Reservations are highly recommended, so plan accordingly. Wifey and I stopped by with some friends with a reservation for dinner. Inside, they have a cool and dimly lit vibe. For their menu, they have a nice selection of appetizers and entrees to choose from. Our group ended up getting a spread consisting of the Grilled Bibingka, Kilawin, Lumpiang Shanghai, Pancit Adobong Kabute, Kare Kare, and the Musang Fried Chickenjoy. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience here and everything we had was delicious. All of the staff are very friendly and welcoming here. This spot is definitely a top choice for a nice meal with comforting yet elevated Filipino flavors!

Took my sister here for her birthday and really wanted to love this place. The interior is super cute and the open kitchen is a great touch. The staff was incredibly friendly and the service was good too. I enjoyed everything about this place except the food. Unfortunately, the food fell short. We ordered several dishes to share. The chicken joy was heavy and overly salty. I've honestly had better fried chicken at Jollibee. The beef kare kare was cooked well but the sauce and veggies did not pair well and lacked balance. In my opinion, it was not a cohesive dish. The eggplant was decent, but overall the food lacked brightness and acidity, leaving everything feeling unbalanced and heavy. For a $200 bill, I expected a lot more. Hopefully they can dial in the kitchen, because everything else about this place is lovely.

Came for Saturday brunch and had a solid experience. It's actually better than the dinner we had here a few years ago. The ube French toast was good; we loved the berry compote on top, though I wish the ube flavor came through stronger. We also got the lumpia and the BBQ chicken + garlic rice plate, both well executed. One thing I'd love to see: halo halo on the brunch menu. Feels like a natural fit. Food is on the pricier side since there's an automatic 22% gratuity, so be prepared for that. Service was not didn't really spectacular. Parking around Beacon Hill can be a hassle too -- give yourself a few extra minutes. But the food is legit Filipino cooking and worth the trip. Would recommend making a reservation. Overall 4 to 4.5 stars - good food, pricier side for brunch.

The ambience and service were truly out of this world. Good Service is hard to find sometimes these days and the warmth and welcome that their staff showed was incredible. From the moment we walked in, everything felt warm, attentive, and I loved the south Seattle cultural vibe. The restaurant is inside of a house, which reminded me of Portland. So fun and memorable. The food was almost hard to describe because it was THAT good. One of those meals where you pause after a bite and just look at each other. We started with lumpia that were perfectly crisp and addictive. Then came an unforgettable noodle dish that honestly stole the show. At one point they brought out a whole fish that was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. The oysters were incredibly fresh, and the lychee cocktail was bright, refreshing, and the perfect pairing. Every single thing we had was incredible. One of those rare meals where you wish you could start all over again just to taste it for the first time.

Really homey vibes since it's located in a restaurant that might've been a home at one point. Great ambience and open bar/kitchen view. The hamachi and the mushroom sisig were among the best things we ordered, but there weren't any misses with any of the things we ordered. Service was also really quick and friendly. Highly recommend Musang for upscale Filipino food.

    Lily D.

The pinakbet was so delicious and stayed crunchy for the duration of the meal. I was skeptical of bitter melon but it being pickled lessened the bitterness and the flavors balanced well with the heavier salty and fried flavors of the rest of the dish. Mushroom sisig was good, it was quite heavy on the citrus flavor however. It was very savory and needed more rice ratio than the provided portions of rice we got. Overall delicious and it had a very nice balance of strong flavors.

Came back here as my gf's family have not visited before and wanted to try. Once we were seated at the patio, it started raining heavier for a moment. Let's just say everyone seated outside (including other tables) were not amused as the raindrops on the metal roof was extremely loud without any insulation inside. Even if someone next to you were shouting, you can't hear them. Luckily after some 20minutes the rain stopped. Ordered a few dishes, tasted decent but nothing extraordinary. Portions were extremely small for the price, maybe A for the creativity for fusion but nothing stood out. Bill comes out to close to $500 for about 9 dishes (some dishes were ordered 2x) for a party of 7. We left still hungry.

Made a reservation online for two people and was seated promptly upon arriving Sunday evening. Inside was a welcoming, cozy/intimate vibe that fit a surprising amount of people, but didn't feel too crowded or too loud. Our server was great, constantly checking back in on us and offered good recommendations for food and beverage! Everything we tasted was well flavored and unique! Good portions for 2 people to split family style. We got 1 starter, 2 entrees, 2 desserts (one was gifted for my friends birthday) and 2 cocktails which was plenty for us! We left full and happy! We had: Ginataang Gulay 10/10 Pancit Malabon 8/10 Inaloban Na Isda 9/10 Ma-Nilla Cheesecake 7/10 Chocolate Bibingka 6/10 (I wasn't a huge fan of the mochi texture personally) Love supporting AAPI businesses, and Musang impressed me with their attention to great service and flavor!

    Ukoy ($18)
    Katrina M.

This is pretty far away from where I live, so I had figured this would be a one-time experience, but the food and service was so amazing, that I'll definitely be back! Upscale menu and everything we tried was over the top delicious! The star of the meal was the Ukoy, in my opinion, which was like a tempura nest of vegetables only better! The downside is that it's difficult to park, street parking only. Located near a light rail station, however, so if you're able to take that, it would help.

Ask the Community - Musang Seattle

    Is Musang wheelchair accessible?

When we were there last June they have seating on the ground floor ( like an enclosed tent). However the bathroom is on the main restaurant and it probably has about 7 steps to get to the door .

Is Mustang kid-friendly? Do they have high chairs?

No, high chairs were not available. The staff are very accommodating and welcoming to children.

If the website says reservations are fully booked, but you can walk in and possibly get a table, what are the chances of getting a table? Thx

The earlier you arrive, the better. For parties larger than 4, definitely try to call and send a text ahead of time. It's not a huge space so they have limited tables that can accommodate big parties.

    What's the parking like?

    Street parking only

You order at the front before being seated which means food arrives shortly after sitting down. With that noted, I wouldn't return to wait that long. First visit, to try a relatively famous spot, sure. Inside is a bit tight, but conversation can be had. My friends got the lumpia-silog and bistek-silog. Lumpia was tasty, but not particularly outstanding. Bistek was dry. The beef was tough to chew, seasoned alright on the outside but likely overcooked if not old. I opted for the oxtail silog which was delicious but pricey. Oxtail Silog - for $29, this plate definitely gets a double take. After waiting in the hour line, I figured I should commit for a tasty meal. Oxtail comes in a side bowl alongside a bit of hearty broth which the rice absorbs well. Meat is tender, falls off the bone, but pulling around oxtail bones isn't the simplest, so definitely have to bite around crevices. All in all, this plate was delicious but think it comes with a huge tourist tax I've had better value for oxtail plates. Ube Pancake Stack - four sizeable pancakes. Some pictures, including my own, don't do these justice. I can definitely get behind the hype. They're drenched in a rich ube sauce and there's plenty to go around. Honestly the ube flavor is present on the pancakes, but it feels relatively faint because the sauce is extremely sweet and flavorful, minimizing the pancake taste and expanding the gap between flavors. That being said, I think I would enjoy the pancakes with less sauce (or preferably, on the side).

Our office gets a list of the weekly offerings on Monday, so when I heard that later in the week there would be Salu-Salo Filipino Kitchen, bringing Filipino food, I most definitely made lunch plans. I was coming in from a meeting in Fremont, so didn't go to the pop-up/Salu-Salo Filipino Kitchen as soon as it started service (around 11am). With that said, I nearly missed out on the chicken adobo! I took the last of the chicken adobo an hour and a half after the lunch service started, so was counting my blessings! I ordered the lunch plate, which came with chicken adobo, pancit, rice and pickled veggies. My lunch plate was solid. Chicken adobo was tender and really, really liked how vinegar-y the flavor was, which, any Filipino would tell you that all food tastes better with vinegar! Pancit wasn't bad, but not the best. Some of the noodles were on the dry side, but I did like the cabbage and green onion throughout. Pickled veggies were a nice addition, adding more sour flavor to the overall entree. For someone who hardly ever has Filipino food and desperately misses mom's cooking, I was just happy to have Salu-Salo bring some adobo to the area. I would definitely recommend checking out Salu-Salo if you ever see their stand around. They don't update their social media channels, unfortunately, so is a little difficult to find where their stand will be. And when I asked if they participate in any markets, they do not. But the owners did mention that they visit downtown Seattle often at other office buildings around. Therefore, I have a feeling I'll be seeing them soon and getting my Filipino cuisine on. (Plus, bonus points for the owner being from the Bicol region of the Philippines, which is where my mom's side is from. Love that!)

Salu-Salo put Fillipino food on the map for me, and thank god for that…read more I do not know why it has taken so long for this cuisine to become popular in the U.S. because frankly, its freaking delicious! Salu-Salo offers a wide variety of dishes with unique flavor profiles. With some of the dishes, I can't compare them to anything I have ever tried before. For example, my favorite dish on the menu is the Laing Express, which is made with coconut milk, taro leaves, topped with a delicious crispy piece of pork belly. With a topping of pork belly, how could anything go wrong? This dish has an amazing earthy flavor, with a bit of a kick to it. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. How often to you get to eat purple desserts? Ube cake gets its color from purple yams! Salu-Salo's ube coconut topped ube cheesecake balls are not just adorable, they are addicting. Not overwhelmingly sweet, and perfect for sharing, these are a treat. For those with dietary restrictions, Salu-Salo is a great option because there are plenty choices. As someone who is gluten free, all of the main dishes are fair game. This is often very rare when dining out for me!! Here's to Salu-Salo for exposing Seattleites to what Filipino food is all about. Rosario's cuisine feels like a healthy take on comfort food. Each dish bursting with flavor, yet still accessible to all ages. The idea behind comfort food is all about the thought that goes into the prep. After tasting Salu-Salo's food, I promise you can tell a lot of care goes into the preparation of each dish. I am looking forward to this becoming a Seattle institution, and hope it inspires more Filipino cuisine to start popping up in the PNW.

Got the half spicy half normal and dusting of spice was perfect. The fact that this is gluten free (which is fantastic for all GF folks in our family) is even more Amazing how they got everything right with the crunch and flavor. Potato skins and garlic rice were good too, though less garlic would have been better. Could easily make this into a garlic egg fried rice and larger portions. The staff were super attentive and took time to explain everything to first time visitors. Steady stream of take out orders as seating is limited. Would come back to try the other sides too. Happy to report no reaction for gluten free member of our family, top marks for safety.

We brought a friend along as we were hanging out at the nearby convention but we have been wanting to revisit and we love Filipino foods/flavors. My boyfriend got their chicken pot pie and cornpilog while I got their bicol express. Our friend got their bicol express and pork sisig. I did come there as I saw they serve kare kare on Saturdays but apparently not until the afternoon, but we arrived around 10am. We wanted to know what was in their Filipino breakfast as everyone was getting that but we saw that they were re-stocking it but by the time my boyfriend got to order, they were sold out. My boyfriend really loves this place, he says with full confidence that this is one of the best restaurants in Seattle. He demolished his cornpilog, no crumb left behind and pretty much finished the chicken pot pie. The bicol express was absolutely flavorful with the meat being so tender. The bread outside is perfect. Our friend was happily impressed and said he would definitely have to come back to try out more. We wanted to try more, especially their dessert ones! We also got their drinks to go and they had sold out of the ube baby so my boyfriend got their tsokolate mocha and I got the pandan caramel. The drinks were smooth and enjoyable but I felt the flavor was underwhelming, I could barely taste the pandan and even caramel but it was delightful. The inside is very spacious with tables with booths and chairs. They have several types of hot sauces, self-serve water station and a obvious area to place your dirty dishes in. The staff members were very welcoming and ensured that you get everything you wanted. There are restrictions of how many pastries you can get, but it is appreciated as honestly it's hard not to get more than one. They have a lot of savory and sweet options, including vegetarian and vegans ones too.

This spot is located next to Phe where street parking will be your best bet. Inside, they have a cozy interior with a solid amount of seating. Wifey and I stopped by with our homies to grab some pastries for breakfast. They had so many good options to choose from but we ended up getting a spread consisting of the Seattle Dog, Pork Sisig, Garlic Beef Asado, Pork Liempo, Cornsilog, and the Matcha Strawberry Cake. Everything that we had was delicious with familiar Filipino flavors. Overall, I am glad we got the chance to check this spot out. All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. You really cannot go wrong with any pastries you order here, but I would highly recommend the Garlic Beef Asado and the Cornsilog. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area!

It serves classic Filipino comfort food, similar to the likes of Ludi's and Sizzling Asian Grill. The only difference is that this place has been around for a really long time, and is tucked away inside part of Pike Place beyond some groceries and next to a yogurt place. It's noisy around here, and there's limited seating just around the corner of the kitchen and some straight ahead. Menu is pretty small, which is already a good thing since that means the dishes are gonna be high quality. After placing your order, the staff make your food and then call your name out when your food's ready. Both my friend and I got their longanisa plate, which comes with rice and pancit. Rice is standard and has some sauce on it, while the pancit is lightly salted and makes for a great palette cleanser. The real winner was the longanisa, and you get three thick pieces of them for around $18 after tax! Each piece was sweet, tender and juicy all around, and I could see some fat inside when I was biting into each one. They're so packed with flavor that I wish there were five pieces instead! Portions here are deceptively big even though the plate is small, so expect to struggle finishing it if you're not a big eater. I can't believe it's taken me this long to finally try here, and now that I have it's something else to cross off my really long list of Seattle places I've neglected to try over the years. Even with just one visit, I'd take family, friends, and visitors to Seattle here for one of their meals!

Hesitate, ask a question, or make a joke and you can feel Auntie Lie, the owner, giving you the once over. I ordered the salmon sinigang and the longanisa, unfortunately, they were amazing. This is Filipino home style food- rustic, rich, flavorful, well seasoned--and after walking all day in the cold rain, it was like coming home. Auntie Lie behind the counter served it like she was issuing a warning, not a meal. Just kidding- she actually was warm and friendly. She said, "you come here before? You know exactly the right things to order". I didn't tell her it was out of fear and admiration for how she handled the tourist in front me. Just kidding . I sat at the side bar, enjoyed my meal and enjoyed reading her many notes and pictures with folk who've been longtime fans. This stall has baked in character, and in the bustle of tourists, eating here and watching it all was a great ambience. Worth it? Yes. This is a must needed spot to visit at pike place. If it isn't, don't tell Auntie Lie.
