Fat's fried Chicken and Waffles. I love smearing the butter and syrup all over it. So tasty!

I know saying something is the "best" is silly because food (and taste) is subjective. However, it feels like Fat's fried chicken and waffles are objectively some of the best fried chicken and waffles I have had. I first had them at work, someone got them delivered, and the aroma was really satisfying. The taste matched! I have since had them many times over the years, I often just do pickup or delivery. The staff are very kind, helpful, and professional. There are sit-in spots in the restaurant and it is clean in there, it's at an intersection in Madrona/Leschi. The food is just so delicious. I'm glad they're here in Seattle.

Great food and service. It can fill up quickly for larger parties, so you may need to wait a little. My party of 2 was seated immediately. The butter is homemade and flavored and is a must try. The atmosphere is super cool with old pictures and records posted around.

This must be the longest wait I have ever experienced to not only get sat but to get food. Now, if the food would have been worth the wait, then money, but no. Anyone that reads my reviews knows I Am an absolute chicken and waffles fanatic. This was the worst excuse of c&w. Portion in the pic looks normal, but it was a thinly sliced breast with breading you can taste for what the raw ingredients were. Old flour, some salting thing in there with a dab of southern wanna be flavoring. The waffle was mediocre at best. If there would have been flavor I can compare it by a long shot to the Waffle House. My wife got a side of eggs ... nothing special and again no flavor I walked in with expectations and am leaving with hopes of feeling hunger soon to forget this place. McDs will be gourmet in comparison. If you want to sit down and listen to gangster rap and watch people of all walks though... it's good.

Shrimp and grits and Eggs benny

I've been here on two different Saturdays within the past year and walked away as a very happy man both times. Starting with the food, the shrimp and grits are creamy and packed with flavor, the eggs Benedict with bacon has perfectly poached eggs with a zippy crystal hollandaise, the waffle has a satisfying texture and comes with a comforting henny butter, and the best part that ties it all together: GARLIC. AIOLI. I have tasted many garlic aioli in my 28 years of life and this is by far the most delicious garlic aioli around. It's something I can't explain; you need to try it for yourself. With the breakfast potatoes, on the Benedict, in the shrimp and grits, by itself, I don't care, I just need it bottled up ASAP. As for the atmosphere, it's quite cozy and warm as a diner would be. I had to wait around 30 minutes both times I went because it was prime brunch time on Saturday and was fully worth the wait. The service is very welcoming and kind, and there's a good variety of sauces available on each table. They also serve Boon Boona coffee which is a Renton based coffee roaster, and I always love seeing local businesses support other local businesses. Overall, I love everything I've tried from Fat's and will hopefully be lucky enough to experience their food again soon.

I got the fat sampler plate with breakfast potatoes, bacon, eggs, and a honey butter biscuit, and also tried the chicken and waffles. Walking in, the place has a really cozy vibe, but it's pretty small. Tables are close together and seating is limited. The lady who greeted us was super nice and recommended the fat sampler and the chicken and waffles, so we went with that. The food did take a little longer than expected, but honestly it was worth it. The chicken on the chicken and waffles was sooo good!! crispy, flavorful, everything you want. The only downside was the waffles, they were a bit thin and not crispy at all, like a pancake. I'm hoping that was just an off day. She also hyped up the honey butter biscuit since it's what they're known for, and I get why. It was SO good. Definitely the standout for me and something I'd come back for alone.

This is such a cool place for brunch. My friend and I must've gone at a good time. It's not the largest restaurant & I imagine it gets very busy, but there was no wait for us. I ordered the chicken & waffles. I wanted to get legs, but unfortunately they'd run out & only had thighs & breasts available that day. No biggie. I just got a thigh with my meal although I prefer legs. (I considered rewording that sentence because it sounds a lil crazy, but I can't think of any other way to word it). Anyway. There was a minor mishap with my friend's food- she'd asked for a chicken breast with her waffle because she doesn't like dark meat, but she was given a thigh. However the staff fixed the issue right away when she brought it up. They apologized & explained that it would take just a few minutes to fry up the new chicken because everything's cooked fresh. It wasn't a big deal & they handled the mistake perfectly. The customer service was great! The chicken was good and the waffle was perfect due to its crispy edges and the delicious honey butter. The ambiance is top-tier. We loved the decor & the personal touches around the restaurant such as family photos & flyers for community events. My friend & I talked about how good the playlist was. It was a mix of soul & R&B music. This is a vibrant & delicious Black-owned spot that did not disappoint.

    Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit Sandwich

I got the honey butter chicken sandwich here after the meal, i have to say i have a pretty positive impression. this came as a fried chicken breast sandwiched between two large biscuits, both drenched in honey butter The biscuits were excellent for the most part - they were baked enough to be just slightly crunchy on the outside, but the inside was marvelous. It was crumbly, broke apart so easily, and tasted so soft. The biscuits were smothered with a honey butter mixture, that was very sweet. This was generally good, but I think there was too much honey, therefore the sweetness. I would've preferred a mixture that was mostly focused on butter with a little bit of honey. The sweetness tasted good at first, but towards the end it began to get a little tiring. The biscuits were so sticky it was impossible to eat this as a sandwich - you had to eat it with a fork and knife The chicken was quite good - especially when it came to the seasoning and how well it was breaded. The breading was a deep brown, which indicates how well it was fried. The seasoning was mildly spicy, and I wish it would've been slightly more so to counteract the flavor of the sweet biscuits, but not too many complaints there. I should also mention that I would've preferred thigh over breast when it came to the choice of meat, as while not overcooked, I can't say the inside was especially flavorful I also got the grits as a side - and they were pretty good. Nothing too special, as a bit one-note, but not bad I did appreciate how warm this came out, though For the price of about $20 in total, I thought it wasn't too unreasonable. Definitely quite filling

We were out and about today, and decided to put in an online order to Fat's Chicken and Waffles for pick up. The online ordering process was quick and easy. For those not familiar, Fat's is a southern style spot featuring fried chicken and other down South hits. The restaurant occupies the former location of the once renowned Catfish Corner at Cherry and MLK in the Central District. Since we are pescatarians, we went with oyster and shrimp plates and added waffles as sides. The plates also came with a salad. Our seafood choices were nicely breaded and well seasoned, and the waffles were great! We only wish the seafood portion size was larger. The shrimp were a good size, just wished there were more of them. Same with the oysters. We will definitely check Fat's out again!

Beyond amazing! From their service to their food, everything was impeccable. Street parking is easy enough to find. They have a really efficient service and wait times feel super quick. They were packed when we came in a Saturday for brunch, but makes sense with their delicious food. We got seated almost right away for a table to 2. We got the chicken and waffle and honey butter chicken biscuit with fries. Our order was out pretty quickly and portion sizes are generous and prices are good. I inhaled the food so quick, and it was truly a hit. My partner thought the waffle was ok. I will definitely be back here!! Thank you for the amazing food!

this is one of my new favorite places in Seattle for brunch. The food is realllly good. I really enjoyed the chicken it was cooked super well. The only downside for the chicken and waffles was the waffle was kind of small and sad compared to some of the massive waffles I e seen elsewhere. But together it still tasted great. The food was also super filling so you'll leave super satisfied :) The owner was so nice, the service was patient and helpful and they brought out the food fairly quickly given how busy they usually are. The interior is what you'd expect, there's a good amount of seating and tables turnover relatively quickly. We came on a Sunday for brunch as a party of 2 and didn't have to wait. Parking was a bit tough you kind of have to get lucky with street parking and the streets are a bit sketch.

While visiting Seattle, I visited Fat's, It's a cozy little spot, but be prepared to wait a bit, on busy days. The seating area is not that big. They'll text you when you're ready to be seated. The ambiance inside is great. They have a playlist playing, and the decor is stylish and inviting. You can also watch the games or TV on a projection screen. The menu is good, with some chicken and waffle options, different entrées and alcoholic beverages. The food was delicious! The chicken breasts are juicy and well-seasoned, and the waffles are fluffy and crispy. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by. They're coming up on 10 years in business, and they've been serving up delicious chicken and waffles for years.

A pleasure as always eating at Fat's. The vibes are always 100, with a good hip hop playlist going. I was able to sit down immediately, at the bar under the windows. If you have a bigger party, you might have to wait! They only have a handful of larger tables. The staff is friendly, and service is quick!! They serve boona coffee, which is a local black owned coffee company, and It's excellent coffee. I usually get the chicken and waffles, and I like to add a side of the andouille gravy to dip my chicken in and balance out the sweet from the syrup and henny butter. Their drinks are also great if you're feeling alcohol, I love the g&g, a classic!! If you like shrimp and grits, this is a great place to get them. Plenty of street parking around.

Fat's is in a part of town I've never been to. Quaint spot on the corner of the block. Fairly easy to find street parking. First time was on Sunday before a Seahawks game and the wait was too long for us to make it in time for the game. Took my wife back a week later during the week. Staff were very sweet, warm and welcoming. The decor was intriguing in that it paid homage to the local neighborhood and culture. Couldn't help but look around the entire time. The shrimp and grits was perfect. The sauce on the grits took a second to hit and once it did.....oh boy. Incredibly flavorful. Punchy but once it settles, SO good. Wifey's honey butter biscuit chicken was great. It had the perfect amount of honey to not overwhelm the dish. The chicken was moist and great amount of crisp. The biscuit was fluffy and moose and crispy in all the right places. The pancakes was somewhat reminiscent of The Waffle House in the south. Sweet Tea had the perfect sweetness and I like it SWEET. DEFINITELY gotta go back and try other dishes.

Ask the Community - Fat's Fried Chicken & Waffles

Is there any vegetarian options? Are the fried okra fried in the same fryer as the chicken? Asking to see if I can join my friends who are carnivores. ;-)

Hi the okra is fried in the same oil as the chicken. Salad may be your only option. The green tomatoes are fried in the oil as well.
