    Slawsome Chicken Sandwich

Great chicken sandwiches! My favorite is the Slawsome: huge juicy fried chicken breast, sauce, and slaw. Fries are crispy on the outside and pillowy on the inside. Everything's served piping hot. Friendly service, large portions, and reasonably priced.

The fried chicken tasted crispy plus you can choose 2 sauces. I ordered takeout and it came out fast, about 10 minutes! Despite how small the store looked outside, there are plenty of tables inside.

Quick service. Must bus your own table. Got the dark meat chicken thigh for $4ish after tax and tip. Got it at 3 of 4 spiciness. Good enough for me. My friend got 4 of 4 and he was sweating and delusional. They can also up it to 5 of 4 for maximum spicy. Many benches inside and a couple outside.

We had a layover at king station. We decided to run over and grab a bite. We were not disappointed, we were actually blown away to find this good of a meal. Don't judge a book by its cover, when you see the Location and the outside it's not in the best part of town. It does have parking out front and a nice bathroom. We ran through her twice, it was so good we grabbed some on our way back. The staff both times were super friendly even calling our baby by his name. We enjoyed our layover and will definitely be back!

Saw a reel on social media and I had to try. Did not disappoint. I tried the 3 piece combo with 2 sides. Awesome value. Had mac and cheese, mash taters with gravy, delicious. The coleslaw was a disappoint. It was supposed to be vinegar based, I assume since no mayo. It had no flavor at all. Might have been an off day. I look forward to going back and upping my spice level.

The glorious, delicious mess that is the poutine bowl.

I had passed Cookie's Country Kitchen many times before I finally got to try it. Usually it was too early in the morning, but I'd looked at the menu in the window and scoped out what I wanted to try. This evening, the stars (and buses) aligned, and I finally got in. I walked into an open and warmly inviting space with several tables and a counter at the far end. I was greeted with a smile and an invitation to take my time. She asked about the book I was reading while I perused the big menu board. I admit, I was tempted. The chicken sandwiches look amazing. I wavered...but then I remembered. The Poutine Bowl was what I was there for. She smiled when I ordered and said "Oh yeah, that's good." Ten minutes later, I confirmed it - she was right. So very good. My picture only captures the top couple layers. Within the bowl are big pieces of tender, boneless fried chicken, over a layer of delightfully gooey, melty cheese curds, over yet another layer of crispy fries. All covered with just the right amount of rich gravy and flavored well. The Canadians might have invented poutine, but Cookie's might have just perfected it. A couple words of advice, if you're going to try the poutine bowl too. Get a fork - it may be possible to eat it with your hands, but I'm but actually not 100% sure about that. Get some napkins, because even with a fork it's probably going to get messy. And if you can, try to take your time. It's a lot of food, and worth savoring. It might have taken me a while to try Cookie's Country Kitchen, and already I can't wait to go again. Maybe I'll even eventually get one of those sandwiches.

    Drumstick, level 1 spice 10/24

What sets this place apart from your ezells' or KFC is that you can taste the flavor on the outside and inside. It's packed with flavor - borderline salty for me but that's just me. Got the level one spice and that's spicy. It's a little greasy so make sure you have napkins ready. I got the drumstick and it wasn't dry at all -come on, it's hard to mess up with dark meat. It's in the pricey side and the neighborhood to get here is shady.

Excellent service and chicken sandwich prepared perfectly. Only things missing are some seasoning to the breast prior to breading and a better sauce as you can't really taste the sauce in it. Casual atmosphere type ambiance. Prices decent. Clean restroom.

Potato skins and garlic rice were good too, though less garlic would have been better. Could easily make this into a garlic egg fried rice and larger portions. The staff were super attentive and took time to explain everything to first time visitors. Steady stream of take out orders as seating is limited. Would come back to try the other sides too. I've had sandwiches, bowls, tenders, thighs and drums. They're all good. The sandwiches are the high point in my opinion - particular shoutout to the Slawsome and Hot Honey. They're big and messy but tasty. Can't go wrong with them, and I frequently can't help but order one. The bowls are powerful. I've had both kinds on different trips and they're hard to do in a single sitting, whereas sandwich + side is not. Just be warned. The sides are straightforward - what you see is what you get. They tend to be a little more basic, or classic if you will, than the sandwiches. I like this, since they serve as a side/counterpoint. We tend to get the slaw and pot of gold. The fries are the battered style which are very good and combo well with the rest of the menu. Takeout times tend to be accurate and the staff have been working hard but helpful every time we stop in. Most importantly they've been consistently good every time we go - and often during peak busy times, so that speaks well of their kitchen staff. Top marks all around. The move to the new spot didn't slow them down a bit, so make sure you check the address before going if you haven't been in a few months.

We had visited the Ballard location before they had moved to their new home. Stopped by the new location a few weeks ago. The new location is definitely in the sketchy part of Ballard, but it was nice to have a designated parking lot, rather than trying to find a street spot at the old location! My husband and I both ordered 3 tendies, in cayenne heat (level 2 spicy). Didn't seem spicy enough for my liking, so next time I am going to try the level 3! The chicken is delicious! It's crispy, juicy and flavorful. They offer a lot of sauces to choose from too. Although if you ask me, if you order any spicy level, the chicken doesn't need it! My husband is a dipper though and he likes his sauce. His fave is the Honey Mustard. (I opted for a garlic aioli. I love garlic but it was a little much). Since I was feeling like a comfort side, I selected the potatoes and gravy. (I have also had the fries and the macaroni and cheese). They have a good selection of sides. We love Cookie's chicken!

The first and most obvious thing about the chicken was that it was spicy. Like really spicy. That has to be the spiciest chicken I've ever had and it's not close. I was still able to finish both tenders without adding any extra sauce (the waffles helped) but my mouth was on fire at the end - I had to get in some ice cream While normally I like spicy food - I can't say I liked this spice as much because it seemed more like spice caked on to the breading as the seasoning itself - kind of like the only point of the breading was to be spicy. I didn't taste many other flavors in there. This made the eating experience of the chicken not super enjoyable as I didn't really enjoy each bite as much as I was just getting through it To add to this, the breading was nice and crispy, but it didn't attach to the chicken as well as I would like. It frequently peeled off the meat itself. It also didn't quite have the oily texture of good fried chicken - was a bit dry As far as the meat itself - I thought it was fine - nothing special but also nothing too bad. The thing that I really liked was the portion sizes of the chicken. While it wasn't super easy to get through, I did like the fact that the chicken filled me up I really appreciated the spice level in the chicken - but wish the breading was better and had more different flavors Get this if you're really craving spicy food The second part of this meal were the waffles - which were astoundingly good The waffle was soft but had real weight to it - each bite had a depth of dough that was fantastic In addition, the whiskey butter and maple syrup made the entire thing a truly amazing sweet experience It complimented the chicken so well - adding an excellent side flavor to each bite The way I would eat this is by cutting a piece of the waffle off, and either putting it in my mouth and taking a bite of the chicken or combining pieces of both onto a fork and eating it that way. The waffle's sweetness made the chicken tenders tolerable and significantly improved the overall experience

They have a super affordable meal deal on the app and their combos are also affordable. We ordered on a kiosk but you could order through a cashier if you wanted. I went with their bowl combo while my boyfriend got their tacos combo as well as an order of their chicken tortilla soup and a free chicken avocado taco. I tried to order on their app but not sure if there was just an error but they were also extremely busy from when we arrived and it did take some time to receive our food. Despite how busy the employees were, they never forgot to be courteous and kept a positive attitude. Also, on the app, they don't have horchata but next to the fountain drinks, there is a horchata dispenser. The horchata is very refreshing and the perfect amount of sweetness for me. When we did receive our food, it smelled amazing. My avocado chicken taco was on the colder side but not sure if that is how it is supposed to come out like that or hotter. It was still good though! The soup was comforting and absolutely my favorite and the craziest thing is I don't care for Applebee's chicken tortilla soup this was way better in terms of flavor, presentation and quality. My boyfriend really loved his tacos and I loved my bowl, I could barely eat half of it because it was stuffed! We did ask for all three salsas but when we asked for more, they gave us the same one so not sure if they ran out or just so busy that they just gave us whatever. There are plenty of tables to sit on your own or with others, we noticed there were a lot of families gathered and enjoying the family meal.
