This location is a little tight on seating, so I'd recommend getting there early if you're hoping to dine in. You order at the counter, and they bring your sandwich out to you. The person at the counter was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Definitely grab plenty of napkins because these sandwiches can get a little messy but honestly, that's part of the experience! Came here based off of a word-to-mouth recommendation from a friend of mine. She said I absolutely had to come here during my trip to Seattle, so I did! We always do take out because the inside space is quite small. Recommend sticking with the classic and getting the Caribbean roast sandwich. The grilled onions are just perfection. Our friend also got the Caribbean roll which looked good (similar to the sandwich but in burrito form with rice and beans). It was a ton of food, larger than the sandwich for sure, very heavy. The tofu con gusto came promptly, and the cashier brought water for my friend and me. Seating is outside, so save yourself one before placing your order. It's sparse but a nice treat away from the bustle of the rest of Upper Queen Anne. It was bland. Not just lightly seasoned, but the beans lacked flavor and any savory flavors associated with Caribbean cuisine. The tofu was firm and had a good mouthfeel but had no flavor, none of the promised garlic tapenade, and the rice was already too far gone. The salad that accompanied it was tasty and good size. I actually went here for the first time a few days ago with a couple of friends. I had been to the Shilshole Bay location and had liked it. This place is much smaller and, thus, more crowded. But this is part of the charm of this tiny stretch of Galer Street on Queen Anne, with its half dozen shops or cafes: you could practically be in the Marais in Paris or a town in Italy but feel much less claustrophobic. Used to be a regular (the food is decent), but won't be going back due to poor customer service. I ordered a sandwich and requested extra meat to which i was told would be extra. Said no big deal and paid the three dollar upcharge. Two minutes later, my name was called and the cashier then asked me to pay an additional three dollars for the extra meat saying he spoke with the kitchen staff and it needed to be three more dollars. Would have been happy to pay the full upcharge had i been made aware upfront, but asking for additional money after i already paid is pretty ticky tacky and left a poor taste in my mouth.
