Come here and get literally anything in the menu, you will be happy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's not much seating inside but I have dined in before and it's got really cute decor, kinda makes you feel you're at a beach bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is my go to take out spot I usually order the steak sandwich it's quick, easy, and delicious! The staff is always friendly and they seem happy.

We came here on a Wednesday evening. There were only three small tables in the restaurant, and most people opted for takeout. The staff was friendly, and the food was delicious. The only downside, in my opinion, was the lack of alcohol. Parking was free and available on the street.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is a photographer's dream. Bright, fun yet minimalistic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] West Caribbean Bowl ($16) - mainly rice and chili but still hearty and spice forward. The chicken thigh was tender and a decent size but wish it came with 2 instead of 1.

I can't stress enough how this place hits every time!! The sandwiches are so full of flavor! Highly recommend grabbing a sandwich and heading over to the park or a lookout

Super good sandwich / plate restaurant. I really enjoyed everything I hate. Super flavorful. Good portion size. Lots of street parking. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's only around 4 tables total here, so I recommend going to Kerry Park to look at the beautiful view while eating good food OR assume this is a good takeout place![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

First time at this specific location! As good as it should be :) I tried the palomilla steak sandwich for the first time and was so good! Love the thin cut steak, the perfectly crunchy bread, and the pickled jalapenos. I think I mighttt still like the classic caribbean roast more, but this is great if you're craving some beef!

I received a promo for $5 off so I tried to use it the previous time, but she didn't know how to apply it. Then another time when I order The Caribbean Plato with pulled roasted pork, when I got home, I discovered the wrong type of meat (grilled pork instead of pulled pork). For these reasons, I didn't go back for a long time. Today, I went again to get take out for my visitors. I called in the order so I didn't have to wait, but Gisela didn't understand my order and kept getting it wrong. I ordered 3 Caribbean Plato with pulled pork, and 1 Caribbean Plato with chicken thigh, but she kept repeating the wrong order back to me (2 pork, instead of 3, wrong type of meat, etc), so I tried it again and again, still no comprendo. I got frustrated and told her that I would just come in person to order. I was in a hurry, but I had no choice. When I got there, I ordered the same thing, but this time, I gestured the type of pork I wanted, using my hands to show pulled and tried to explain that I wanted the shredded kind, not the solid kind). Someone was with me so he heard my order in plain English. As I was waiting for my order, I decided to ask her once more just to be sure that it wasn't the grilled pork bc she made that mistake last time. Then she said my meat was grilling now. I was alarmed since they don't get the pulled pork from the grill. I told her that I wanted PULLED ROASTED PORK, not the solid grilled patty kind. She said something in Spanish to the guy who was putting my order together and he showed me a sample of the pulled pork so I said "YES" that's the one I want. She said they were already cooking the grilled pork. When I told her that she was giving me the wrong order, she said "it's too late". I was so upset so I said, "why is it so hard to understand my order?" Pulled pork is pulled pork, not grilled pork. I never even mentioned the word "grilled". A guy came out from the kitchen so I explained myself and he said what I want is the pulled roasted pork and I said, "that's what I ordered". She tried to explain something to him in Spanish, but he told her to just give me the pulled pork and I was on my way. She just ruined my day, and I could feel my blood pressure rising. I don't think I will ever return again. It's too hard to explain the right kind of meat to Gisela. Dining out and getting take out should be a pleasant experience, not a stressful one.

The slaw was refreshing and cuts the heaviness of the meal (it has mangos!!). Add some of their spicy sauces if you want more flavor! It's spicy but not too bad. An assortment of Caribbean food - sandwiches, plates, bowls, and sides. Maybe it'll be the Veggie Platter. Sometimes I'll go with the Ropa Vieja. Maybe I'll try a sandwich with a side of yucca fries. If you're in Green Lake and looking for something to eat that's a little different than anything else you'll find around the lake, in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere, definitely check out Bongos. One note of warning: it can get slammed with lots of people around prime dinner hours, especially on the weekend, so be prepared. Maybe grab a drink and a seat while you wait for your food.

I have had my fair share of visits to NY but clearly need to trying the PR food there and also need to prioritize going straight to PR as well. Ive had the food in Cuba and this was nothing close to that so, let move on. We had the Pollo al Carbon, Coco Greens and Hushpuppies. For drinks we had the Rhude Boy and Sandia. The Pollo al Carbon was not good at all. The chicken was smoked (dry) and the sauce underneath it taste like nothing. The veggies and potatoes were good though! The Hushpuppies tasted more like cinnamon and were simply not good. The Coco Greens tasted like kelp and coconut milk. Service was also decent! Our server was kind and friendly despite us returning the first thing that came out, the Hushpuppies. The drinks were made and sat for about 5mins after the bartender made them while our server was stocking silverware. Despite the food being nasty and the drinks taking some time to be served, I appreciated that they included gratuity for the sake of supporting staff. Overall, I liked the drinks but truly could've lived without the food.

I'll start with the beef, as it was the primary component of the dish. Despite it being flank steak, it was clearly simmered for a long time - and displayed none of the traditionally chewy or dry properties associated with the tougher cut. The sauce also helped - it was very well spiced, and had a slight tomato-like flavor. Mixing this with the yellow rice yielded something that was really satisfying to eat. The combination of sauce, beef, and rice was quite enjoyable, even with mixing the vegetables in for some extra crunch. The portion size of beef was crazy. When combined with the rice, the total amount of food here was solidly enough for two full meals. It is around 20 dollars for the dish, but I would classify that as a good value when you consider how much food you get. On the opposite side, I swapped the maduros out for fries. These...were not good. The fries tasted stale, hard, and not appealing at all. While the portion size was high, the appeal was not. The sauce that came with these was interesting at least. Overall, I think this is a very strong core dish at an impressive portion. Would recommend sticking with the plantains as a side though. 8.5/10

The Caribbean roast sandwich was packed with so much pork that I could not even fit it in my mouth and had to eat it deconstructed. On the other hand, the Paseo press felt a bit easier to devour, but still had a lot of pork inside in addition to cold cut meat. The chicken thigh in the Caribbean bowl was also soft and tender, easy to eat. The meat was definitely the standout and carrying factor of the restaurant.
