    12 wings
    Mark N.

These were the best wings I've ever had, and that's just the start everything was amazing catfish, full fried chicken wings, Mac n cheese, greens! It all was hitting, I would drive all the way out from Seattle any day for this food! On top of this the service was great made you feel like you're walking into your own family's house and you could tell the food had to match that spirit!

I've been trying to find a good (authentic) soul food restaurant since moving to the state and somehow just came across Nana's Southern Kitchen... The restaurant is tucked in the corner of the plaza so parking is a little difficult. When you walk in, you're surrounded with pictures of Nana, her family and news articles. There's a good amount of seating inside as well for dining it. You order first and then either sit at a table for dine it or wait in your vehicle and they'll bring the food out to you. We viewed the menu and settled on the catfish nuggets with three sides ($28). At first I thought the pricing was a little on the higher end but when I got the plate - I realized the portion size absolutely warrants the price (the plate can feed two people or be split into two meals). For the sides I ordered candied yams, collard greens and Mac and cheese. The catfish nuggets had seasoning sprinkled on top and each piece was perfectly cooked, crisp and fresh (cooked to order). Each of the sides were equally delicious. The Mac and cheese was perfectly cheesy, the greens had the perfect amount of spice/kick to it and the yams added that nice sweet touch to break up all the savoriness. Even the cornbread was good - not too dry or cakey. They also sell a variety of pound cakes with rotating flavors and banana pudding, as well as sweet tea and cool aid. Overall, extremely satisfied and glad I finally found this place. Highly recommended and will be back to try other menu items!

OXTAIL, gravy potatoes over white rice

1 OXTAIL smothered in gravy potatoes and rice is not $25. Wow should have asked if there was a tariff up charge on that. The 1Main and 2 sides ordered Catfish (please ask if it's nuggets or Filets) otherwise your getting Nuggets. Cornbread was very dry I was surprised given most of the reviews about it said this I was still surprised. Greens no flavor, Mac and cheese, had a weird taste, not sure what or why that is but it's A NO. I thought for a comfort food Sunday meal this woyld be good.. an Epic waste of money which by the way is waaaayyy over priced. 12.00 for small Banana pudding is "Bananas" will not be going back for the total cost $65 (not adding the 12.50 tip) was not worth it at all....Sorry Nana's.

I went late on a Saturday night. It was pretty slow inside, but the people were really friendly. Overall, the food was really good. I wasn't a big fan of the cornbread, and I thought the wings were just OK, a little tough. The fried pork chops were amazing, the yams are on point, and the macaroni and cheese was a surprise hit. They seasoned it really really well. I also really liked the potato salad. It was creamy and had a really good flavor to it. Next time I'll have to try the fried chicken.

It has been a while ordering food from Nana's. I like that they are located in Kent, which is very convenient. The parking itself gets a bit crowded in that area. We were craving some southern cooking and they were able to help us fairly quickly upon coming in. We ordered a meal with the two main and two side. In our order, we had the fried chicken and catfish. For the sides we had their macaroni and cheese and collard greens. With the meal it did come with a cornbread. We added n extra cornbread for $4. All this was a bit pricey for a meal. We ordered our food to go, so once our food is ready, they'll bring it out to our car. Which is a very nice service! But it did take a long time to get our food, I'm glad that it was fresh though. As for the food itself, I thought the chicken could've had a little bit more salt. But we did have the hot sauce on the side to dip, which made it good. The catfish was delicious, lots of flavor there. Nana's special sauce that was offered, made it even better! The sides were good, but for the cornbread. I would've liked it more moist. The place is very relaxed and chill, with many customers enjoying their food inside or waiting outside for the nice lady to drop off their order.

Take out only, pretty pricey for the portions on the main dishes in my opinion. The catfish was good but was half breading. I got collard greens and mac and cheese for my sides. The greens were very good but the mac and cheese were separated and tasted okay. Cornbread was very dry. Service was great, the employee was very nice, our food was ready in 15mins and she brought it out to our car.

My last experience was about a year and a half ago. I had a not so good experience and just left matters there after a review. Kyan, immediately reached out to me and wanted to address my concerns. Fast forward more than a year later, I followed up with the conversation and we had a conversation about my previous experience. I stopped by today and picked up a replacement meal in an effort to make things right. I got home after some rough traffic about 1.5 hours later and reheated my meal. I'm a creature of habit and chose something else. I got the pork chop since they no longer sell catfish filets. I'm not much of a catfish nuggets person. I got two pork chops, corn bread, Mac and cheese, yams, potato salad and a lemonade. ($29.73 normally, complimentary this visit). The pork chop is simple and not too thick. The yams are always a favorite. The potato salad does have a different taste than I remember, and the Mac and cheese is pretty standard. This experience is on par to my previous experiences with Nana's and I'm happy to have given them another chance. The yams were even better the next day. Kyan made a wonderful point, it's important to let businesses know when they're doing both good and bad so they have an opportunity to fix whatever needs fixing. Best of luck with your future endeavors, the company is in good hands!

Oxtail stew, greens, mac and cheese

A million stars. I walked in and asked if I should get the catfish with the mac and cheese and greens or the oxtail stew. I got it all tgen tried the catfish later with a sweet tea. ALL OF IT WAS FIRE. I HAD THE ITIS BEFORE I EVEN LEFT BRO. The dudes at the other table were pretty cool too, I stopped in late so it wasn't super busy but the food still hit the way it should. I already told a few people in PDX to come up and say hi. This ain't Nana's Southern Kitchen, it's Nana's kitchen.

Hands-down one of the BEST Southern food places I've ever eaten at! I stopped into Nana's Southern Kitchen in Kent and WOW--this place is everything. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and kindness, and the food? Out. Of. This. World. Let's talk about the highlights: The catfish nuggets were unreal -- perfectly crispy on the outside, flaky and flavorful inside. You can taste the love in every bite. The pork chops were juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. Comfort food at its absolute finest. Don't even get me started on the mac and cheese -- creamy, cheesy, golden, and baked to perfection. Legit soul food mac, not that watered-down stuff you get elsewhere. The French fries! Oh, the French fries were top-tier -- crispy, hot, seasoned just right. I wasn't expecting to rave about fries, but here I am! On top of all that deliciousness, I have to give a huge shoutout to Kyan, who was an absolute blessing. So kind, so helpful, and really made the whole experience feel special. She went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of--and you can tell she truly cares about the customers and the food they serve. You can taste the tradition and heart behind everything at Nana's. This isn't just a restaurant--it's a celebration of Southern roots and hospitality. -Friendly service -Exceptional food -Great portions & good value -Warm, welcoming atmosphere I'll 100% be back if I'm ever in the area again--and bringing friends with me. If you haven't been yet, GO. You're missing out.

Man. Guys I hate to downgrade you but the last two times I've been here.... It's been as if the entire restaurant has changed. I had the baked chicken and oxtails and the boneless chicken. They all were subpar. I mean ... 4/10 cod each and that's bad. Service wasn't that great either. I want to continue being a customer here but man.... 2 times in a row haven't been bad experiences.

Burnt chicken I was so sad because I was craving some good golden brown chicken but that wasn't the case...Mac was alright could use more cheese pull.

Walking into Crawfish Chef, you immediately get that casual, no-frills Cajun seafood boil…read moreatmosphere--nothing overly fancy, but lively and inviting in a way that tells you the focus here is all about the food. The space is simple and functional, with wooden tables, a laid-back setup, and that unmistakable energy of people ready to dig into messy, hands-on seafood boils. It's the kind of place where gloves, napkins, and cracking shells are all part of the experience, and that authenticity adds to the charm. The star of the visit was Combo #6, a generous spread that comes loaded with 1 lb of mussels, 1 lb of snow crab, 1 lb of shrimp, along with potatoes and corn. On paper, it sounds like a seafood feast--and visually, it absolutely delivers when it hits the table, drenched in their signature house special sauce. Starting with the mussels, they soak up the sauce beautifully. Each bite is juicy and briny, with that ocean flavor amplified by the rich, garlicky, buttery kick of the house sauce. The seasoning doesn't just sit on the surface--it seeps into every shell, making each bite bold and satisfying. The snow crab is easily one of the highlights. The meat is tender, slightly sweet, and pulls cleanly from the shell. Paired with the house sauce, it hits that perfect balance between natural seafood sweetness and spicy, savory richness. It's messy, indulgent, and exactly what you want from a Cajun-style boil. The shrimp are equally impressive--plump, well-cooked, and easy to peel. They carry the sauce exceptionally well, giving you that full punch of flavor in every bite without being overpowered. The texture is spot-on, not rubbery or overdone, which can sometimes be a gamble with seafood boils. Even the sides--potatoes and corn--deserve recognition. They might seem like fillers, but here they act as flavor sponges, absorbing all that seasoned sauce and delivering surprisingly satisfying bites in between the seafood. They help round out the meal and keep it from feeling one-dimensional. What really ties everything together is that house special sauce. It's rich, garlicky, buttery, slightly spicy, and deeply flavorful--arguably the backbone of the entire experience. It's the kind of sauce that makes you want extra bread or rice just to soak up every last drop, and it's consistently praised as a standout feature of the restaurant. That said, while the flavors are undeniably strong, the biggest drawback comes down to value. Combo #6 sits at a noticeably high price point (around the mid-$90 range), and while the quality and taste are there, the portion doesn't quite feel like it fully justifies the cost. You get a good spread, but not an overwhelming one--especially if you're sharing or expecting a truly massive boil for that price. It leans more toward a "treat yourself" meal rather than something you'd regularly order without thinking twice. Some diners have also noted that prices have crept up over time while portions haven't significantly increased, reinforcing that slight mismatch between cost and quantity. Overall, Crawfish Chef delivers where it matters most--flavor. Combo #6 is rich, satisfying, and packed with well-seasoned seafood that keeps you reaching for the next bite. The house sauce alone makes it memorable. However, the higher price tag makes it feel more like an occasional indulgence rather than a go-to value meal. If you're craving a flavorful, hands-on seafood boil experience in Kent, it absolutely hits the spot--but just be prepared to pay a bit more than you might expect for the amount you get.

We tried again a week or so later as my work is close by and we wanted something quick and affordable as we had a comedy show to go to afterwards. As we entered, we were the only ones and we were greeted warmly by the sushi chef and our waitress. Our waitress told us to pick any table we'd like and she brought us menus. Once we had ample time to glance over the menu which honestly had the right amount of items, I got the udon and shrimp tempura while my boyfriend got their Philadelphia roll and chicken katsu. Our waitress asked if we were fine with water and I didn't see a drink section on the menu but they do offer fountain drinks, canned drinks and hot tea. The inside is small but it's cozy and initmate. They have K-pop playing in the background with the music video. There is a good mix of natural lighting from the sun and inside. The bathroom was clean and well-maintained. We received our roll and shrimp tempura first, udon next and finally the chicken katsu. The katsu sauce here is one of the best katsu sauce we've ever had as it had a perfect balance of tangy, sweet and savory flavors. There was a lot of katsu and my boyfriend said the only complaint was he wished there was a bit more rice as the ratio was off. I loved my udon, they give a generous portion of fish cakes, fish balls and a piece of shrimp tempura as well as plenty of tempura flakes. I do wish there was a bit more noodles but that was my only real complaint. The shrimp tempura was good but I do wish there was a bit more sauce. My boyfriend's roll was delicious and fresh! Their hot green tea was also comforting and delightful! The service here is pleasant as our waitress was kind and checked in on us often. She was also courteous and professional with other customers. We look forward to coming back whenever we're hungry for good and affordable sushi and Korean food.
