Felt like some soul food and finally went to check out this place. It's only open Friday and Saturday's. It's a small spot and if you're looking you can easily miss it. When you walk in you'll be greeted and the menu is right in front of you. They'll tell you what's on have on the menu that day. So I ordered the Catfish, Cornbread, Yams, Cabbage & Rice w/ Gravy. Catfish was good....Yams were good....Cabbage was good....Rice w/ Gravy was good.....Cornbread was good too. They don't have meals so u need to buy everything separate. Oh you get a drink and chips with your purchase. I'd recommend this place to everyone.

Good vibes inside the restaurant. Would you call it a restaurant? It feels more like a hangout place with great food. The pastor/owner really brings in the Southern hospitality and kindness with ringing up your order. Good conversation and will let go if you're in the mood for silence. The menu centers soul food and the selection changes each business day. They do post the menu on their website beforehand so that can help you plan out. To me, it doesn't matter what their menu is since everything is so good. The food is made to order and is extremely flavorful and cared for. The catfish batter and seasoning is a bundle of joy itself. The fried okra still has a signature sliminess to it that's balanced with the crisp exterior.. The vibes are good enough to eat inside but the food was still great after a drive back home. The only bit of ambiguity is the + on the menu. How much are the extra charges? What else can you stack to lengthen the meal? I got the catfish and asked for two sides and I got "complimentary" soda and chips, and I was thinking, is this part of a set? I was a bit confused. But at the end of the day, if your lunch budget has a little wiggle room, don't sweat the small numbers and just enjoy their good food.

Best southern food in all of Seattle. The place is very genuine with a very unique feel to it. The staff is outstanding, probably the nicest I have encountered in Washington state always asking if everything with a smile and the owner was a great host. Pricing is quite affordable for Seattle would definitely recommend and would go back. My wife said the corn on the cob alone is worth the 40 min drive from our home.

This is the kind of place you come to for straightforward home style Southern soul food. If you're looking for fried chicken or fried fish or the special of the day which might turn out to be roasted chicken or ribs or a po boy, this is the stop you want to make. Don't forget to add that peach cobbler on at the end. You'll find some good sides to go with the main dish such as greens, corn on the cob, fries, or anything else on any given day. You might come in and find sweet potato pie. One thing you'll find every time is the good natured disposition of the pastor and the good people in the kitchen making up this delicious food. None of it is to be missef. If you come late in the day they may be out of something and then you only have yourself to blame!

Delicious food and even better service. The pastor that owns this restaurant is truly an amazing man. This local spot is delicious. The menu changes but you really can't go wrong with anything you get. This time around we got 2 orders of fried chicken, mac n cheese, rice and gravy and their dessert, which was sweet potato dumplings. We started with the dessert. Oh boy was it delicious. Cooked perfectly not too sweet, but so flavorful. I wanted more. The chicken was extra crispy and fresh, as they make it fresh to order. The sides were also delicious. Cannot wait to go back and see what the pastor is cooking up!

Good food, EXCELLENT customer service! We had a small group and ordered food to-go. We all ordered baby back rib meals with mac-n-cheese, yams, and extra butter-rolls. And an order of catfish. The rib are slow smoked to perfection, so the meat falls right off the bone. The butter-rolls are buttery AND sweet, almost like Hawaiian bread (yum!) The owner works the freon counter and was very friendly and conversational. He chatted with our group while we were waiting for our food (which took about 10 minutes). And, we were offered some free samples while we waited. When we got our food the smokey smell of the meat had my mouth watering. Mmmmmm... Looking forward to coming back to try the fried chicken, oxtails, and to have more butter rolls :)

I am so happy I finally got to try this place!! They are only open 2 days a week... and now are finally open again during these COVID times. I placed a phone order and it was ready right when I got there. The front desk and chef were so welcoming and friendly! I loved our small talk. They offered me hot sauce and made sure my fried chicken boxes had holes in them so it stayed crunchy. Everything was DEEEELCIOUS. This is the best bbq / southern food I've had in this state. The baby back ribs were tender and fell right off the bone, and they were salted perfectly and went well with the spicy bbq sauce. The fried chicken was crunchy and moist on the inside, and sooo tasty! I also got the "glory hot" wingettes and WOW! I loved them. It had a great flavor and a nice caramelized see crispy coating. To me, it was only a little spicy, so it's not hot as one may expect. It came with a soft warm roll too. I had an amazing take home dinner today and will be back!!!

So here's the deal , the honest truth . I've had soul food in almost every state , including around WA state . And this by far is the best i have had . Flavorful but not salty , crispy but not hard . Soul food isn't just about cooking it's the process that goes into it , the care , the culture.. and I tasted that here . Only open 2 days a week , and about a 15-20 min wait for your food but who don't mind waiting for fresh and hot food ! A must go in WA ! And the service was amazing!

I always look forward to the weekend thanks to Southern Grill authentic soul food with amazing hospitality. Red beans and rice are my favorite.

I REALLY enjoyed the food today. The man at the register who took my order, I assume is the owner. He was a very friendly and personable gentleman. I was sad the oxtail stew was not available today, but was surprisingly impressed with the "Peanut Butter Chicken"! Never heard of such a thing and I thought it was delicious! The fried chicken was some of the best I've ever had - juicy inside with a crunchy and tasty outside. The catfish was cooked perfectly, good taste on the cornmeal coating. Cornbread was good, the hush puppies very good. I ordered the collard greens but was mistakenly given a side of rice & gravy. I definitely recommend and will definitely come back!

this is actually the greatest place i've ever eaten at. The food is so amazing we're already planning to do a road trip next year just to swing by this place to get the food again. When we landed in Seattle the first night, we werent sure where to eat, and we decided to eat here. I got the bbq ribs meal and my girlfriend got the catfish meal. The ribs were so juicy and tender and the meat just fell off the bone. The catfish was seasoned so well that we were left wanting for more when we finished it all. The homemade fries tied everything together and the cornbread was delicious. We came back the following saturday and dined in. I had the 4 piece fried chicken with fried okra and cornbread and my girlfriend had the bbq ribs and crawfish side. The fried chicken was the most amazing fried chicken ive ever had. It was so crispy and fresh and the fried okra, which was the first time ive ever had fried okra, was absolutely amazing. I'll definitely make the 1100 mile trip just to come back here next year

All my expectations were shattered when my best friend and I went to eat at this place. Food was not terrible but is certainly below mediocre, I envisioned southern food at its best, but what we got was bland, dry, fried chicken, mediocre okra, and ok oxtail. If you know what southern food is supposed to look and taste like, this is not your place, save your money and head south as fast and far away from this place as you can. In a nutshell: ** 2 stars for warm and friendly service

Why is this place open only 2 days?

The owner is a pastor who runs a church on the other days of the week. This is a hole in the wall place with a skeleton crew but the best bbq ribs and friend chicken next to woodshop bbq in Seattle. Totally worth it, go!

All this was a bit pricey for a meal. We ordered our food to go, so once our food is ready, they'll bring it out to our car. Which is a very nice service! But it did take a long time to get our food, I'm glad that it was fresh though. As for the food itself, I thought the chicken could've had a little bit more salt. But we did have the hot sauce on the side to dip, which made it good. The catfish was delicious, lots of flavor there. Nana's special sauce that was offered, made it even better! The sides were good, but for the cornbread. I would've liked it more moist. The place is very relaxed and chill, with many customers enjoying their food inside or waiting outside for the nice lady to drop off their order.

The menu is straightforward. We ordered at the counter. The food is brought to our table. The food took quite a while with big crowds coming in after us. I suspect they cook in batches as multiple groups received food at the same time. It was mostly self-service (utensils, water) until the restaurant quieted down, then we saw servers cleaning tables, etc. The Food: Combo Dinner with two sides, $26 - 5 Stars The combo plat offers two meat choices. I chose the wings and catfish. The wings are sizable and plump. Highly recommend. The catfish was a thinner cut and a bit dryer. I liked the very thin breading on the catfish, not greasy, and it tasted good with Tabasco. For sides, both the collard greens and fried okra are excellent. In fact, I say the okra is perfection! The little corn bread is just right for me. I thought the corn bread has good flavor while hubby said it was too dry. Catfish Dinner with two sides, $24 - 3.5 Stars Hubby complained the catfish was too thin. He's not a Tabasco person, so that doesn't help. I gave him two wings to calm him down. Lol. He loved the hush puppies the best. They are huge with a wonderful crisp. I agree with him! He thought the yams are too sweet; they do look sweet in the liquids but isn't that want yams are intended to be? I think he just needs to order differently in the future.
