Made it just in time for happy hour! The bar tender was the kindest human, and we felt very welcome. For drinks we had the Thai-tini (best) and lychee martini. Both were great, but the Thai-tini was spot on. From the HH menu we ordered boat noodles with beef and green papaya salad. They showed up as top reviewed and they did not disappoint. Boat noodles were like pho with more complex flavors. The papaya salad was spiced well and refreshing. The bartender tipped us off that portions are HUGE so we ordered the battered chicken red curry for an entire to split. When it came out we felt like it was an entire chicken. Decided to stop by this place in search of quality Thai food and a nice ambiance and it did not disappoint! My friend and I walked in at 9:20 (~40 mins before closing) and got a seat at the bar. They have happy hour from 9pm-close so we ordered the curry from the happy hour menu ($10), kra pao with an egg (~$20), and drinks (lychee martini $9, Thai-Tini $9). Such a great deal!! My favorite thing had to be the yellow curry, it was so creamy and had a nice kick. The kra pao was also very good, we picked spice 2 which was pretty hot but manageable. I would highly recommend making a reservation in advance, we got pretty lucky to get a walk in spot but the place was totally filled. The battered chicken red curry is one of my top 10 most favorite dishes, ever. Everything about the chicken and the curry is just perfect; the chicken is perfectly fried with a light batter and the curry is super flavorful without being too heavy. And the portions are HUGE. As of this review, I've went twice when I was starving - I barely finished once and had leftovers the other time. The taste and value are insane, my only main concern with the meal is that it's not balanced at all since there's zero vegetables at all but it gets a pass from me. Service is pretty average and it can be really hard to get in. I think both times I got in we went at pretty late hours, that's probably the move if you want to dine in. Went to Kin Len for happy hour on a Thursday evening. I love their Yelp waitlist system in the front entryway- it gives an estimate of wait time and makes it easy to check where you are in line. That said, only had to wait a few minutes to be seated. The atmosphere was lively , and the decor is truly unique and vibrant! Their happy hour menu is truly special- had some delicious boat noodles (savory and deep flavor with a little bit of kick to the broth) for around $11, and grilled calamari for $10. This is such a cool place, we had to wait for about 30 mins to get table, we walked around the block while we waited. This place stands up to all the hype around it. Vibe - When I walked in, it felt like I was in a nighttime district on the streets of Thailand, eating and drinking whatever they had available. Hospitality - The front-of-house staff was well-mannered and courteous, and they seated us quickly on a Monday night at 8:00 PM. It was a relatively busy night. However, we ordered fairly quickly, and the food came out within 10 to 15 minutes. Food - Food-wise, we ordered the Fried Papaya, Crispy Fried Rice, Khao Soi, Tom Yum, and Crispy Pork Belly Fried Rice. Gosh, I have to say, I was blown away by the flavors and the portion sizes! Typically, four dishes can serve three people, but I felt like these could have served five. The fried papaya salad was lightly battered with a typical papaya salad dipping sauce featuring a base of fish sauce, green beans, tomatoes, and chilies. It was good. The crispy fried rice was served with lettuce wraps, and OMG, I kid you not when I tell you this is some of the crispiest rice I've ever had. It's hard to find, but when you do, you can't wait to take another bite. I thought the khao soi overall was not bad. I enjoyed that they put the fried noodles on top so that you can mix them into the curry when it's brought out. Lastly, the pork belly was well-cooked with a crispy, crunchy exterior, and served with delicious Thai-flavored fried rice! Drinks - We ordered the Thai lemon iced tea and the Thai tea cremosa. I've always like Kin Len. They really nail the vibe with a cool little mini entry and then when you go into the main dining room it's like another space entirely. This place is SO good! the dishes had creative twists with so much flavor. The portions were also pretty large, and we ended up not being able to finish despite loving everything. we got the battered chicken red curry, and the way that the batter soaked up the curry made the chicken a flavor bomb. We also got the papaya salad, but we overestimated our ability to eat spicy and got a spice level slightly too high, but the kick was great and the flavor was all there. There was a pretty long estimated wait on a Saturday night for a party of 5 but it ended up being only 30 minutes. Kin Len Thai Night Bites is a Freemont staple. It is usually pretty busy so make sure to sign up on the Yelp waitlist feature they have. You do have to be close enough of a proximity in order to join so factor that into when you join. It is easier to get seating if you're all 21 and can sit in the bar area. There's a small waiting area in the front and there's usually some water. All together definitely a solid Thai spot for the area. Good place to go with friends, cutely decorated inside. Staff: nice (4/5) Sanitation status: really clean and tidy (5/5) Spicy Bomb Wings with Sticky Rice (5/5) These are delicious Spicy fish sauce wings. They caramelize the fish sauce to give it a nice savory and spicy sauce with a hint of sweetness to balance it off. I would definitely say it is pretty spicy. I don't eat super spicy usually about 2 or 3 out of 5 but this is more like a 4.5 to me. Beef Hotpot (4/5) This is a really interesting flavor profile to describe but I can't even say anything but almost all the flavors you can imagine. The broth gave a sweet but sour and savory with a hint of sweetness in it. It came with a lot of beef as well as meatballs and your choice of noodles. The hotpot is a larger size that can definitely be shared with people. Prawns with Glass Noodles (3.5/5) I didn't really like this dish too much. I felt like it lacked a bit of flavor even with the additional sauce they provided. It was really dry as well which didn't help with the texture of the glass noodles. I would definitely order something else next time. Rainbow Custard Bread (3.5/5) This was okay it was steamed bread with different custards. My friends and I went here for NYE and what a way to end 2025! Food & drink: (4.5/5) I've never had a Thai place that missed the mark but this spot is truly something special. We got the battered chicken, papaya salad, kin len wings, khao soi (I didn't get to try this but my friends seemed to really enjoy it), pad thai, and calamari. The standout for me was definitely the battered chicken- crispy outside, tender inside, and a GREAT sauce that my friend was scooping clean off the plate. The only thing that I probably wouldn't get again is the calamari. It wasn't bad, but just wasn't anything to write home about. As for drinks, I got the coconut bonfire and my friends got thai teas and lychee martinis. The coconut bonfire was nice and creamy with the coconut milk, but didn't have the matcha note I was looking for. I would definitely get it again tho!
