The food here's good but it's a little too expensive on top of the 18% service fee. The laksa didn't taste as authentic and flavorful as i expect from laksa. The roti was a tasty appetizer, as is nasi lemak with beef rendang! I wouldn't come here expecting the food to taste like authentic malaysian food though. Otherwise, our waiter was attentive and quick. The interior is also spacious and pretty :)

A little confused about some of the negative reviews. I am not super well versed in Malaysian food by any means but I have had it before and the food here tasted fine. While there was a literal flood in front of the restaurant the night we walked in (literally had to circumnavigate couple crosswalks and streets), the food to me was worth it. I got the curry laksa which was perfectly spiced and ample in serving size. Not too spicy though, until you mix in the balacan.. so you control your spice level. My bf got the nasi lemak and also enjoyed his meal. Food didn't take long to get to us at all. A ding because we asked to sit in one of the booths, and they said no they needed it for any four people party that walks in. They sat another two people table in one of the booths who came in after us.

We came on a Saturday night, and grabbed a primo spot on the outdoor patio! No wait. It was a beautiful high 60s kinda night- great day for a patio spot. We got the Nasi Lemak- sweet, coconutty curry and great combo of components Roti Babur- yummy little meat pocket, with a mound of pickles on the side Food came out pretty quick! I would say it's squarely $$, but do keep in mind that 18% gratuity will be included in your bill. With that in mind, it was kinda weird that the waiter was on the phone when they were with us, while also talking on the phone.

Came here on a Monday afternoon around 3pm... no customers around at this time but they were still happy to seat us wherever we wanted! Got the Nasi Biryani with chicken - I never tried this style of biryani, and it was really good! My friend and I split this portion, but if I was properly hungry I would 100% be able to finish my own plate. The service was fast and friendly, and the waitress was super nice. If you decide to dine in, you will automatically get charged 18% for service fee regardless of your party size. Something to keep in mind! Yummy spot - would recommend :^)

Was in Belltown for a couple of nights and saw this restaurant full of people - I knew I had to try it and am glad I did. I saw from several Yelp reviews that the Roti Jala was really good, so I ordered that with chickpea curry. The roti was soft and different from anything else I have tasted (in a good way). Shout out to all the Yelpers for the great advice. Since there were 2 of us, we also ordered the Nasi Biryani and Sayap Ayam Pedas Spicy fried chicken wings). I have to say - this was the best meal I had while in Belltown. No wonder many people go there to eat. If I ever get a chance to be in Belltown again, I will surely eat here again.

I absolutely love Kedai, I went to the other location first and loved it. Came today for Mother's Day and was surprised that we were the first people there. I love this new location lots more space than the other location. Staff was friendly and we even had a chat about my Labubu. Food was absolutely amazing. Seriously not a single thing was anything other than perfect. Juicy meat seasoned to perfection.

This place is pretty good overall! I don't have Malaysian food very often though. But the flavor of everything was pretty solid! I would lean more towards 4 and a half star. Food wise: We got the 3 items in the picture, everything was put well together. Many different flavors in the dish and a decent portion also. It was slightly on the saltier side? But that might just be me. But if you mix the coconut rice and everything together, the flavor is good. Drinks were fantastic in my opinion! I got the gin and tonic with lime leaf and it was sooooooo gas. My friend got the hibiscus drink and that was amazing too. I would go back solely for the drinks. Service: it was quick and the staff were nice. Nothing crazy special. The birthday ice cream is not free by the way, haha I thought it was complimentary. Ambiance: the vibe was very nice, pretty authentic I feel like. It was a cool place, temperature wise. I feel like it would be a nice spot in the summer.

The menu is different than the old Kedai Makan in Cap Hill, as I know they changed owners post pandemic. The prices here were quite high, there is little to no parking nearby, and the young woman working there the day I ordered food for pickup seemed aloof, indifferent if there were customers that day or not. I ordered the mushroom chili pan mee, as that is a hard to find me up item. It was good, but highly overpriced. Somewhere on the menu or online I read that locals get a discount but that wasn't an option when ordering online. Oh well.

Delicious Malaysian food! I had the Roti Babi which was a delicious blend of bread and spiced pork. Of course I got the Nasi Lemak since that is Malaysia's national dish. I had had this in Malaysia a few years ago and it did not disappoint.

I've had numerous colleagues rave about frequenting Kedai Makan when they lived in Seattle. Curiosity got the best of us, as my best friend and I wanted to experience eating Malaysian food for the first time! The inside is spacious and has beautiful Malaysian decor. There is an outdoor covered patio, plus a wooden booth, table seating, and a bar inside. We were one of the only customers, who were checked on and never felt rushed. The worker was so kind and friendly, we appreciated his hospitality! Being our first time having Malaysian food, we chose to order popular items. I had the Nasi Lemak with Chicken Curry while my best friend had the Nasi Lemak with Tofu and Chickpea Curry. I also got an order of Roti Jala with Chickpea Curry. Oh my gosh the roti was so good, it was a new texture for me! It was light and thin like a crepe with netting holes. The curry is divine, savory, and coconut--the chickpeas were firm and plentiful but the roti couldn't support it well. The Nasi Lemak was full of new flavors--savory, rich, salty, sweet, and spicy. Loved the coconut rice and flavorful chicken curry. Everything is uniquely different but balances out. I now completely understand why Kedai Makan is highly sought out! Their Belltown spot is their newer location on 1st Ave. and a short way away from Pike Place. We're both ecstatic we got to try Malaysian food and recommend it to all who live or visit Seattle!

They have 2 locations, one in belltown, one in Capitol Hill. Can make reservation online beforehand. Plenty of seatings inside. All the dishes we ordered are delicious. My favorite is the Roti Jala with chicken curry. Must Try!! Portions are pretty generous for the price. Definitely will come back. Service is subpar, pretty much no servers ever stopped by to check the table. They do offer online checkout with a QR code on the table. The online platform charges automatically 18% gratuity with 3 dollars platform fee.

My first time trying Malaysian food. I ordered nasi lemak with beef rendang and a side of pickled veggies. Everything was flavorful, delicious and coconut-y. I felt the beef was a bit dry but the sauce was so flavorful. I would've loved it if it was fatty cuts of beef. Pickled veggies a little sweet for my taste. Restaurant is cute and modern. Has an industrial feel. Overall a positive experience. I wish I could've tried more dishes.

The décor is old-school dark wood bar chic with small HK style neon signs hanging from the ceiling. The Seahawks celebrations merriment was still ongoing with karaoke blasting on Superbowl Sunday. Service was swift, and the food came out in a timely manner. I will remember this place for future late-night food. The Food: Rib Eye Steak Platter, $28 - 4.5 Stars This sizzling platter comes with your choice of sauce and a choice of starch. Hubby chose black pepper sauce and spaghetti. Hubby asked for medium rare, but the rarest they offer is medium due to being served on a sizzling platter. Fair enough. The platter did arrive smoking hot. The flavors were pretty good. The black pepper sauce was delivered warm, not very hot. The flavors met expectations. Stir Fried Udon with Tenderloin Steak, $20.95 - 4 Stars This dish is also done in a black pepper sauce. I quite like the high veggies-to-udon ratio, almost equal parts. Overall flavor is a bit salty. Some beef pieces are better than others, a mix of tender and chewy. Garlic Pepper Soft Shell Crab, $16.95 - 3.5 Stars Despite being fried, these pieces are softer, less crispy than I all other fried soft-shell crab I have had. Perhaps they might need to double fry. These have good flavor with good seasonings despite not being particularly crispy.

There is a 90 minute window for AYCE, and you can order a maximum of 3 items per person every 15 minutes. All orders have to be made from an app on your phone so make sure you have a fully charged device! When we logged in the app, it was confusing to manage at first so we worked with the server to put our orders in. She had to put in our orders for us a couple of times and then we figured out how to work the system after that. To do the math for those reading the review and maximize the number of items you can order with the 90 minute window, you can potentially order up to 18 sets of skewers per person. Each set of skewer has two sticks. My hubby and I missed a few items from our order but we were getting full after my 10th skewer and his 15th skewer so it did not matter too much! The AYCE menu also has options to order zaru soba, corn cheese, and takoyaki! Presentation is great but I wish the flavor matched the visuals. The standout skewers for us were the boruta pork and the wagyu beef tongue. I was really hoping that the yakitori would be crispier and had more of a smokey flavor but I really can't complain too much for the price point. The food is solid but not like a wow, I have to come back here again! We only saw one server for the busiest part of the night, serving 8 tables all at once. She made sure that our glasses were never empty and she treated us warmly. Wile the decor and the general atmosphere are pleasant, the quality of the food would not merit another visit for me.

Andrew (our server) introduced us to his sidekick, who was in training. Love that personal, hands on approach for a mew team member, and Sidekick did a great job in monitoring our table and replenishing water. Have to stop here and express my appreciation for Andrew and how he took the time to explain the philosophy and genuine team vibe of the restaurant. Oftentimes when a restaurant adds a flat 20% gratuity, you get the feeling this is not passed on to the servers. Not so here. He explained that it's shared among the servers, bar, and other staff, with only a bit retained by management, but even that finds its way into their wages. Terrific work environment and happy to see it. It definitely shows in the level of service. But we're here to eat. Didn't take a picture, but one of my dining companions ordered the burrito with red chili sauce and it was very good. Just the right amount of heat in the sauce. The Cantina celebrates Taco Tuesday, so I took advantage of this. You get the opportunity to try 5 different street tacos for the low price of $15. For another $4 you order it fully loaded which is a steal (guac, pickled onions, lettuce, giardano, crema, and another lovely sauce). Each of the tacos were really delicious and packed full of flavor. I especially enjoyed the cauliflower and the beef. Was surprised how much I liked the popcorn chicken - still juicy and not greasy in the least. Andrew treated us to a round of the hatch green chili. I was delighted because it was a dish I wanted to try. He described it perfectly: a little kick, but you can't stop eating it. He was right. A bowl of this in the winter with their cornbread (which I'm confident will be delicious) will preempt a winter cold. The sauces on the table are not to be ignored either. The green chili sauce was fruity with a little heat, the scorpion chili brings the heat, but their homemade chili oil is phenomenal. I could put this on everything. In short, the Cantina delivers. Excellent food, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and fun staff, and a cool vibe. I'll bet the cocktails will also be good. Definitely adding to the regular rotation!

The eclectic fellows that inhabit this establishment in the wee hours of the morning come in all shapes and sizes, but they just have one goal - eat something greasy and satisfying. That's where this place delivers. I ended up here at slightly after 3 AM - and it was pretty packed. All the tables were full, and we were considering leaving after about ten minutes when one finally opened up. The servers are incredibly busy, and it took us about 15 minutes to actually get our order in. I got the cheese curds as my meal. These were easily the best cheese curds I've ever had. In Seattle, I've had a few instances of cheese curds that are relatively sad on the inside - they have a decent fry, but fail on the cheese aspect. That's absolutely not the case here. This cheese is amazing. It's the perfect level of squeakiness, and the stretch is unreal. It has a very unique flavor that you'll only find in cheese curds, that soft yet milk-like taste that's so addicting. It was melty, gooey, and hot inside. The taste was just pure heaven - I was shocked at how good these were. The fry on the outside is also so good. It's light yet so crispy; a beautiful golden brown that produces an amazing crunch when you eat it. Just phenomenal. The sauce provided with this was solid, but honestly I didn't even need it as the curds were amazing by itself. I tried some of the chicken fried steak as well. This was fine. The scrambled eggs were decent, but the hash browns felt a little limp and soggy. The steak itself was pretty average. The prices here aren't too bad either - my cheese curds were around $16, but the portion size was more than enough. Overall, this is a true late night classic that serves pretty great food as well. 8.75/10

It's become a part of my personality at this point. I have so much respect for the owners, the way they run their business and their honesty online. No one I've brought here has had a bad thing to say regardless of what they ordered. My go to is: Pull apart bread, crab nachos (with their hot sauce!! which, btw can i buy that by the bottle.. cause YUM) + whatever drink is calling my name (they rotate, but if you can get the pina colada you won't regret it). tldr; you'll regret NOT coming here.

Some Random Bar is a very popular bar and restaurant in Belltown. I read they have good food, so we…read moregave them a try. We arrived at 4:45pm on a Saturday, figuring we can avoid crowds. I underestimated the attractiveness of Happy Hour where many drinks are $1 to $3 off. The place was full and became even fuller (and louder) by the end of our meal. This bar is hopping with many regulars, alcohol-filled, with multiple screens televising sports. When we went in October, the food menu says the food is discounted 25% off during certain late hours. The current online menu doesn't say that anymore. Not sure if that deal is still available. Our server was easygoing. Note they charge 3% for credit card use. The Food: SRB Burger, $22 - 3 Stars Menu: Painted Hills beef, burrata mozzarella, basil aioli, arugula, pickled onions, hand cut fries Per the menu description, this burger sounded great. Unfortunately for hubby, this burger has the exact pet peeve that he dislikes the most - where the patty is small and tall (he calls it ball shape) compared to the bun. The patty diameter is significantly smaller than the bun. He literally hates that. I had to tilt the camera much lower to see the patty inside. On the plus side, the fries are great. Grilled Shrimp Club, $24 - 3.5 Stars Menu: bacon, lettuce, tomato, house made guacamole, roasted chipotle aioli, hand cut fries This club sandwich is very good except for the one thing that the menu didn't specify - the bun. They use ciabatta bread, which I find doughy, thick, and overwhelms a sandwich. That is my pet peeve for a sandwich. Neither of us is betting well on this night. They are probably more of a 3.5 Stars overall. We find their prices to be high, especially since they additionally charge a credit card fee. When we went, the cost was $21, $23 respectively. The prices are now $22 and $24 per online menu. I would not return for food only. I would return for a bar vibe.
