Noodle/Bar is by the same group that runs Plenty of Clouds, and being a fan of PoC, I wanted to try Noodle/Bar, which seems to be the more casual sibling to PoC. I came in for lunch on a workday on my own, and was pleasantly surprised by how much seating there is in this location and how quickly I got seated (ie immediately). The place isn't dead by any means, but isn't overrun like a lot of places closer to the main SLU drag can get during the lunch rush. They have a focused food menu, with a handful of soupy options, a handful of saucy options, and some sides/starters. As I was trying to just get a quick lunch, I went for just a bowl of the spicy peanut noodles. Probably would have ordered more if I had time for a more leisurely lunch with company, but the bowl that I got was the perfect amount for one person. The combination of the creamy, savory peanut sauce coating the noodles, with the crunchy tangy smashed cucumbers, is lovely. I will say that the noodles are...not spicy. Service was very efficient, and I was actually in and out within a half hour (by my own choice, I did not feel rushed out at all). It is not a cheap lunch, as my total bill with tax and 20% tip came out to just under $25. But it is definitely nice if you want to treat yourself to a nice lunch in a peaceful spot. read more

Wow, what a quiet secret spot to visit on the weekend! (It's close enough to offices that I suspect it's much busier during the day.) The ambience and staff made me think the food would be less authentic tasting or fusion-y, but honestly, the only thing that was inauthentic was their amazing, fresh made noodles (because they were whole-wheat textured). The two of us ordered the garlic cucumbers and two bowls of noodles, and it was basically the right amount of food. I especially liked the garlic cucumbers! I think everything might have been slightly on the salty side, but the flavors were amazing, and they were spicy and numbing but not intensely so (despite the color of the food). I would so recommend coming by if you're in the area, weak to but still a lover of spice, and enjoy asian noodles! read more

I recently visited Noodle/Bar in Seattle and had a good experience overall--enough to give it a strong 4 stars. The service stood out as genuinely friendly and accommodating. When we ordered the spicy peanut noodles, they accidentally brought out the sesame noodles instead. The server was quick to apologize, and rather than making a fuss, they let us keep the sesame noodles complimentary as a goodwill gesture for the mix-up. That kind of thoughtful handling turned a potential annoyance into a positive highlight. The food was tasty too. The pork over rice was flavorful and satisfying--well-seasoned with tender meat that hit the spot perfectly. The house-made noodles (clearly a point of pride here) had great chew and texture. That said, the noodles could have used a bit more sauce overall; they felt a little dry compared to what I was hoping for. Also, the ventilation in the space wasn't the best--the air got a bit stuffy with all the cooking going on. Still, between the excellent service recovery, the complimentary dish, and the delicious pork over rice, I'd recommend it for folks looking for quality Chinese-inspired noodles in the area. read more

We came in here after hearing about their handmade noodles made from local Washington wheat. And we were not disappointed! We got an order of the dumplings, sesame noodles, and buckwheat noodles. And everything was really great! They can make it as spicy as you want and it's a pretty low key restaurant vibe. It's a little pricey for what it is, having spent about $35pp, but it was really good and worth it in our opinion. The golden lion mocktail was also really great. read more

Noodle/Bar is a small restaurant tucked away in SLU around the REI area. It has pretty dim lighting so it's pretty great for 1:1 dinners or dates. I'll start out by saying that I really enjoyed the Shaken Iced Tea & the vegetables. The Strange-Flavor Cauliflower, aside from its hilarious name, was so flavorful. I wasn't sure how mala and mint would mix together but it was great. I also liked the Cucumbers, your classic Chinese cold cucumbers! I didn't think the noodles were anything special. Actually, it felt like there was too much noodle in each dish; not enough sauce, soup, or toppings to balance it out. I will say that I'm happy that they take substitutions for vegetarian options. Not sure if I'd come back since I was disappointed by the main dishes, but I would recommend trying it out. read more

A convenient noodle store in SLU. The place is spacious and clean. The noodles themselves were tasty, but nothing spectacular. I think they were cooked well and not soggy, but I wasn't impressed by the flavours. The food didn't really have an identity, it felt like they were a place that just wanted to make asian style noodles. Despite having a large space, they were extremely understaffed when I went. They had only 2-3 employees and tons of customers, so the service was very slow. It took 20 minutes for them to serve water and over an hour and a half for the food. Pros: they are speedy and the flavor was good. Cons: seems that they are focused on to go and the service was very a bit brusk. The noodles where a touch undercooked (makes sense with to go to insure they don't overcook). And these are some pricey noodle bowls, that are a conservative size. Awesome little spot to pop by in South Lake Union. We were passing through town and needed a good stop for lunch. This did just the trick. The atmosphere is open and airy with nice mitts and wall coloring. There's a good number of tables and ample lighting with windows on two sides. Service overall was fine, nothing notable given there were only maybe 6 customers in the restaurant at the time but got the job done. The food itself was quite tasty and had nice hits of flavor. I went with the spicy peanut noodles with pork which was delicious. I wished the pickled cucumber was on the sweeter side but other than that it was a hit. My gf got the other spicy noodles which she enjoyed, just didn't think they were that spicy. We also split an order of dumplings which were tasty. We came in for SRW after reading their great reviews. The place was pretty empty so we had no issues getting a seat. When we entered, no one greeted us so we kind of just looked around and saw the menus by the door. We sat down near the door and the waitress greeted us. Make sure you don't sit near the door. Every time she went to get the menus, she was almost brushing our table. There was a lot of seating if you're coming with a larger group. The food was okayish. We definitely came in with the expectation that it was going to be a modern take, but it was just not that great. I ordered the sesame noodles vegetarian. The food came out super quick, but unfortunately was not vegetarian. Before I could eat it, the waitress caught their mistake and brought me another one. A cute noodle bar in Seattle! I had finished my morning work coffee shop hopping and stumbled across this noodle bar. I arrived just before the lunch crowd on a week day but was seated immediately. I got the House Egg Noodles and the Chinese greens and both were brought out very promptly. The noodles were al dente and had a bit of bounce to them. I don't see lotus roots often in non traditional Chinese restaurants so I was pleased to find them included in this dish. The ingredients were very cohesive and I finished the entire bowl. The greens were snappy and fresh and a nice compliment to a bit of a heavier bowl. I would recommend this spot for a weekday lunch whether dining with a group or solo! read more

Food: 1/10 I ordered the Combo, and I could not have been more disappointed in my life, given the number of good reviews I had seen for this place. The wontons in the noodle soup were pretty standard, as were the noodles, which tasted like commercial-grade lo mein. The broth was the main issue. It was completely bland yet very salty and slightly spicy. Unfortunately, it made everything taste pretty bad. I wouldn't come back to try the noodles or broth, but I am open to trying their other offerings that are not those. Service: 5/10 The server was nowhere to be found when I arrived, and I had to go and find someone myself (probably kitchen staff) in the open kitchen area to place the order. If the waiter is going to go on break or something, I think it's important to have other staff aware and ready to fulfill any necessary roles, especially front-of-house. After the waiter returned, they were very helpful and even offered to switch my noodles for something else since I didn't like them. There have been very few occasions where I absolutely did not like the food, but the server was extremely nice despite the lack of service in the beginning. read more

Came here for dinner on a weekday night and really enjoyed our meal here! It was Seattle Restaurant week when we went so they had an entree and side dish special for $20. Service was friendly and welcoming. It wasn't too crowded since we came a bit later in the evening so we were able to choose where we wanted to sit. I got the combo broth noodle and paired it with the cucumbers. Such a delicious meal! I also had one of their non-alcoholic cocktails which was very refreshing. My husband got a more spicy broth noodle dish with their chickpea bean curd appetizer. I think I preferred the cucumbers more. Located in SLU, this is a pretty decent Asian fusion noodle spot opened up by owners from Plenty of Clouds. The concept features a slightly more upscale format for noodle dishes of dry and wet varieties, as it doubles up as a bar with some cocktails. I personally tried the Wanza Mian which had ground pork, numbing spices, chickpea, and spicy and tangy broth. The noodles were flavorful though a little bit on the softer side, but the dish itself is very hearty and not too spicy. I liked it overall, but the dish is on the saltier side. Also, $19 for not that much food is on the higher end of the pricing, and they also just raised the prices so that did not help. I had to get half of the dish to-go because I was not able to handle that much salt in one seating, and I eat out often enough to tolerate salt decently well. Service is fast and more casual, so the meal was a relatively quick yet enjoyable one. I may try a dry noodle dish in my next visit and see if anything changes. read more

Noodle is perfectly cooked. You have to add the fried eggs, it is the high light of the noodle . Dip this egg in the soup , tasty inside and crispy outside . Great to see the Asian/Szechuan/sorta fusion concept from same owners of Plenty of Clouds bringing it to SLU. I don't have a lot of go-to dinner options in mind that are top choices in SLU, but this place is now on my list. I got the dan dan noodles, and the quality of the noodles was fantastic. Okay trying to understand why there aren't more reviews (and a wait?!) for this place? Lest I be the driver of the latter... Four of us wanted noodles with vegetarian options on Saturday night. A friend had read about this place. A lovely person on the phone confirmed outdoor seating. Score! We were in. Arrived 6:30 pm, promptly seated on their adorable deck. Cocktails on point. I had the Yoshimi on Vacation, which is mezcal, rum, rhubarb, shrub, grapefruit, and lime. Comes in a tall glass with some fizz. Surprisingly refreshing, a great summer drink. The group of us shared three apps; most memorable were the sichuan pickles (seriously so good!) and the braised tofu and mushroom bowl (could be a meal on its own). The tofu was tender and marinated perfectly, and the rice crispy hot. Loved this dish. Each of us got noodle mains; I opted for the vegetarian Wanza Mian with a fried egg. I am not sure I've ever seen an egg fried like this before (maybe deep fried?!?) The yolk was still soft, and the first few bites were just outstanding. Also, pro tip: you can adjust the spice when ordering. I asked for low spice, and it was perfect -- just a small kick. All the mains can be made vegan or vegetarian; love a place where everyone can find something they like! Total for four people (including 5 cocktails), including 20% tip (our choice -- service was great!): $198, or about $50 pp for apps, a main, and cocktails. Can't wait to return. Gan bei! read more

Solid, casual spot to grab some interesting noodles and eats! We found a table pretty easily on a late Saturday night. The noodles are interesting twists on typical Chinese noodle fare. We tried the House Egg Noodle, which felt like a variation of Taiwanese beef noodle soup. The egg noodles themselves felt really fresh and had a nice springy and chewy texture. The broth and pork were on the subtler side and gave very homey vibes. The Wanza Mian was also solid and had a rich flavor, although I felt like it could have used a little more of a mala kick. I'd give you 1 star BUT I know folks subconsciously push those to the side... Where to begin, where to begin. I'm not from the area, I was only here for one day and night for work, unfortunately. I stumbled on this place and the reviews seemed on point so off I went on my scooter taking in the sights and sounds of downtown. The elation that I felt outside quickly dissipated as I entered their establishment. It was an uncomfortable experience for a plethora of reasons found below! The menus are behind you on the wall as you walk into the restaurant. I'm not sure who enters a building and immediately does an about face to grab eatery options but surely there's better placements then that. I stood waiting to be seated, then was expected to know what I wanted to eat immediately. I got asked twice if I was eating in or dining out. Once when standing and once when sitting. The first time I let slide as a valid question, the second? Began to make it seem like I wasn't welcome. The straw that broke the camel's back worse than pickled jalapeños or reheated meatballs in my broth de noodles? I received the bill before I could even finish my drink...no mentions of seconds, another drink dessert? Who knows if they have it...the menu was shown and taken from me faster than woman's rights in this country. 1 Bowl of noodles and 1 cocktail for 33 bucks, now I'm in the proverbial Black conundrum, tip like s**t and reinforce a negative stereotype or tip as usual? This is cool restaurant off the beaten bath in SLU. It's neat inside with a nice bar, and the bartender/server on my first visit was really friendly. I recommend the food and drinks here. I've had the sesame noodles twice and the ribs. The noodles were a bit too salty the first time, and I say this as someone who loves salt; but the salt was actually burning my tongue by the end of the meal. Still, the flavor was so good, I craved it so much that I had to go again! No burning tongue this time, still pretty salty, but still really good. I've noticed that this was a critique of the food in other reviews, so I hope Noodle/Bar will take it into account to optimize this dish. Their smoke and mirrors drink is delicious. I could see coming here pretty regularly, and definitely recommend people come give this place a try. It's worth the small detour! read more

Been hearing about this place for a while, and stopped in to check it out last week. I got one of the spicy numbing schezwan pork & noodle soups with a fried egg. First off, $25 for soup, tax and tip is way too much for a bowl. Further, the soup was served way too hot (to where I hate to wait five minutes for it to get down to edible temp because the first bite scorched the insides of my mouth). It also felt a tad under seasoned / under salted and with Asian foods, the salt draws out the taste so maybe having a bit of soy sauce or salt on the table would be a good idea. The service was a 5/5. Decor and feel of the restaurant was a 5/5 as well. I asked to speak to the owner or chef, and I was told the owner wasn't in, but the head chef was (and was hanging out at the coffee bar), but they refused to come chat. Oh well.
