I come here for lunch all of the time, amazing Chinese-style noodles. It's usually pretty quiet during lunch so I'm always seated and served quickly. My only critique is that the menu is a bit pricey, but the quality of the food is worth it. read more

I've now gone here several times so far and I've very much enjoyed the variety of dishes inspired by regional Chinese cuisine available to order. Friendly and informative staff! Their is a lot of available seating so don't hesitate to give this place a try on a whim. My favorite dish so far has been the Wanza Mian for its intense mouth numbing and spicy flavor. If you've never experienced mouth numbing Sichuan peppercorn based dishes before and you're someone who enjoys intensely spiced food, I highly recommend giving it a try. If you prefer something with a strong flavor but not spicy, then I would recommend the baby back ribs - they feature a coating with a delightfully crispy texture that is surprisingly thin. The pork and shrimp dumplings had a nice springy wrapping with a nice bite and bright vinegar based sauce (not over cooked and mushy, and not overly salty). Perhaps the most exciting item on the menu is the Smoke and Mirrors cocktail, which is a rye based cocktail featuring a smoky infusion of Lapsang Souchang tea. The depth of flavor from Lapsang Souchang cannot be overstated and this cocktail integrates it very well. read more

My friends and I chose this place because the food looked good and based off of the few reviews we saw, this restaurant was highly rated. The restaurant is spacious and offers a lot of seating. Service was great and our server took real good care of us, hence the two stars. If I could rate the food, I don't know if it even deserves a single star. I enjoy spicy food so I let the server know if spice level was an option, I'd like it spicy. I only brought this up because my friend was ordering hers to be "less spicy." The food came out pretty quick, even after my dish had to be sent back because I didn't get what I ordered. Even up until then it was totally fine, I was eager to try my food. What was presented in front of me was a bowl of oil (no "soup" to be seen) with some noodles, veggies, and chicken. Still, I did not bat an eye because I mentioned I like my food spicy and restaurants tend to think adding chili oil to anything is the solution to making the broth spicy so I went with it. I was used to that concept. But when I took my first bite, it tasted a little off so I mixed the noodles and took another bite. Still tasted weird but couldn't describe what it was. After the third bite I knew I couldn't eat it anymore. I felt like I took a handful of salt in my hand and just licked the whole palm. The food was so salty, yet not spicy at all. Not wanting to make a big deal, I poured a FULL glass of water into my bowl and mixed. Took another bite and it was still too salty I couldn't take another bite. At first I thought it was the numbing of the mala, but after several bites I knew it wasn't. The photo shows the dish I got, and the second photo shows what was left over. Although the service was great, I don't think I'll ever be able to go back. Spent $20 for basically the gummi candy they gave out which was great to cleanse out my palate. read more

Yummy spot with very flavorful dishes! Everything had a bit of a twist on authentic flavors but it was all very well done. Dumpling - delicious fillings, very umami! comes in a savory lightly spicy sauce that honestly I would dip any carb-based food in Eggplant appetizer - a bit spicy but great flavor Wanza mian - good noodle texture, big portions! Visited this week and absolutely LOVED the food and drinks here. I ordered the Combination bowl and the potstickers with the broth were fantastic. Broth was rich and well balanced, with the flavors of the peanuts and bok choy complemented perfectly. Noodles were the perfect texture with a bit of chew. We also ordered the Dan Dan noodles and they were delicious, with just the right spice ratio. Will absolutely visit again and order both of these! The non alcoholic cocktails were also delicious, we had one of each and loved them both. Very nuanced, I was almost worried they made us real cocktails but it was just that the flavors were really well balanced! The space is very sweet and I like the aesthetic but the restaurant was largely empty so I hope their business picks up so they stay open. Staff was very kind and service was fast. The house made noodles were firm but not too chewy. The chinese greens very nicly garlicy and savory, not at all too salty. Extremely friendly, welcoming staff. This place is seriously under-rated. As a former cook in a well-regarded szechuan restaurant, I would be a regular if this place was located in my neighborhood. read more

We were excited to try this new ish shop now that they have opened for lunch service. The most impressive aspect in my opinion is that even though the menu is relatively short, how many styles of noodles from totally different regions they can offer. I found the actual dishes a little lacking in complexity. Nothing was bad, just a bit bland. The dishes were nice conceptually and presented well with fresh ingredients, but I found that the flavor profiles were lacking in depth. Overall, it's worth a try, but for the price I'd think twice about coming here regularly since I didn't find it out of this world amazing. read more

Came here for lunch yesterday and WOW! I've tried food at Noodle/Bar's sister restaurant, Dump Truck by Plenty of Clouds a couple of times, and love the bold, bright flavors and high-quality ingredients. Noodle/Bar did not disappoint. They have a simple yet cozy interior with excellent service. The menu is small but if I'm not mistaken, they rotate dishes based on the season. I had wanted to try a noodle soup with buckwheat and chicken but it was unavailable so I ordered the beef meatball soup with buckwheat noodles. Everything about this dish was ideal for a cold, rainy Seattle winter day: the nutty aroma and taste of the buckwheat noodles, the moist and flavorful beef meatballs, the wood ear mushrooms and bok choi, all in a fragrant, rich broth with chili oil that was not overwhelming. The portion size was just right. I enjoyed this soup with a really yummy chrysanthemum tea. A superb dining experience. I will look forward to more meals here and at Plenty of Clouds. read more

This place is AMAZING. New favorite spot in town. I love really close by and was so excited to try this spot with my boyfriend today, we'll definitely be coming back. I ordered the buckwheat noodles, which was my first time ever having buckwheat noodles, and he ordered the chicken chili bowl - it was so good that I asked for a side order of JUST the chicken. The chicken was so flavorful and crispy, I hope they never retire it! Easily one of my favorite places to get chicken now, and my boyfriend (who's from the South, which is hailed for its chicken) said it's one of the best he's had on the west coast. The place is also very clean and the staff was SO nice and friendly. I can't wait to go back. read more

Was craving for noodles, Noodle/Bar really satisfy that craving and they are very accommodating menu items (ie gluten/vegetarian/allergens). We started out with cocktails, I had the Stormy and it was decent. For food we ordered the pork dumplings, ribs, egg noodle with beef meatballs and sesame noodle (chicken). So good, so much flavors and textures, not spiciest food but spicy numb (good/bad). I will order the ribs/egg noodle beef again next time. Noodle/Bar just opened up in SLU, and it is so convenient to have a great place to have drinks and food. This place has a wide array of noodles that are bouncy, well bodied, and holds onto sauces really well! I got the Wanza Mian after my server recommended it, and it met my expectations. The dumplings were filled nicely and tasted like they made it in house! The pickles were great to cut the oils that were added to the noodles and dumplings. I would say the spices are not sweat inducing spicy, but a good hint of heat to compliment the dishes. Overall, nicely formatted restaurant with the noodles being the highlight. read more

the sesame noodles taste like peanut butter and the combo noodles broth was inedible. actually both were inedible.

Unfortunately not a fan of this place. Ordered the buckwheat noodles (hot) which sounded like a warm comforting dish with chicken. I only ended up enjoying the bok choi, which is shocking because I personally do not like eating that vegetable. The noodles were cooked fine but the broth was lacking in substance and flavor. There were some limp lotus roots that seemed deep fried but no longer crispy at all. It was more oily than soupy and there wasn't a lot of broth either. What I thought would be a hot chicken noodle soup turned out to be a few slices of chicken and warm noodles. Nothing special and the hot sauce that came with it was the only saving grace for flavor. The chicken slices itself seemed not integrated with the soup, and was a bit salty, also lacking in flavor. They also ran out of the house egg noodles at 6:40 pm on a Thursday night, when we tried to order. I may be the odd one out but I find this place to be overly westernized and overpriced for what you get. read more

Food was very bitter and salty and not at all good cuisine. The broth that was with my dumplings was slicked with oil, but it did not improve the taste. What would have been a 14 dollar bill turned out to be 16.94 when my bill was up charged with a 20% of my bill tax for a big party, a party of 6. All of us, people for a small delegation of Model UNers had to be up charged, pinning the bill on the person with a credit card. No Cash accepted and visa worked for neither myself or my friend. Would not recommend, understandable why they had such a small lunch rush. read more

I went there on Sunday night around 6pm, and the place was empty. I was greeted and seated right away, service was good. I ordered a braised tofu mushroom rice bowl. The bowl has tofu, mushrooms, green veggies, and some scallion oil. The tofu and mushrooms were so dark it looked like they were soaked in dark soy sauce overnight, and they tasted exactly like that. It was so bitter and salty. I ate it all because I don't like wasting food, but I am salty this meal cost me $20 plus tip. I think they have a misunderstanding of what Chinese food tastes like, definitely should not taste like a bottle of dark soy sauce. read more

Loved the food. The chive pork dumplings were delicious. The sauce on them was amazing. The restaurant atmosphere is great and staff very helpful. Really really bad. Food was visually appealing I guess but flavor was absolutely horrible. I got the sesame noodles and they were absolutely drowned in sauce and the only thing I could taste was the sesame and this weird pepper they put in it that makes your mouth numb. Tasted like somebody just threw a bunch of ingredients in a pan and went with it. Vegetables were literally raw and they gave me the entire stalk of the chard. Also, the menu doesn't even tell you what is all in the dish??? So gross! read more

The food at noodle bar was ok, but nothing amazing. As a chef that is creating food outside of his ethnic, I think he is doing an overall food job but I think each dish was missing something to make it great whether it be the texture of the noodles or balance. For the price I would rather go to a spot in Chinatown. I do think this is a great segue for people who are not familiar with the cuisine so props to the chef for that. Inside was a little empty when I went (weeknight) but the place was cute and clean and the service was friendly. :) read more
