Ordering was easy and fast, I got the Katsu Loco Moco, and it was an excellent, filling meal. I was surprised by the amount of chicken katsu that was given. It was a crispy delight, and not soggy at all. Lots of white rice was given as well. Only thing was the gravy was pretty light and thin, but I think it was supposed to be this way because it was somewhat pineapple flavored. Located inside of Uwajimaya (#1), Aloha Plates brings a mix of Hawaiian comfort food to the diverses offerings to food court lineup. It's not my favorite Hawaiian by any stretch, but it definitely does the job for visitors to the food hall. Since the seating can be a little limited at lunch time, the first challenge is just simply finding a spot to sit. Avoiding the peak lunch hour is recommended, but this probably be better if traveling in a group. When in doubt, take it to-go. Teriyaki chicken ($14) is one of their most popular dishes and an obvious nod to Seattle's thriving scene. Their katsu loco moco ($16) is hearty with the gravy, but sometimes a bit too heavy with the green onions. Personally, I'm a fan of the kalua pork ($13.50) and the spam and eggs ($11.50), but the garlic shrimp ($18) was a bit lackluster. They also serve burgers, which are actually a bit underrated. Their double cheeseburger ($11) features nice size patties with a goop of American cheese. The musubi is nearly $4 each, but are also mini-bricks of spam and rice. Lastly, it doesn't take much to realize the prices might feel a bit high here. They're even higher on the website, which i would recommend using for most folks, but recently I noticed various selections are listed for hundreds of dollars each. Overall good for a food stall. My kids liked their musubi and loco moco (this needed more seasoning for me). The teriyaki for me was a bit sweet with a lot of sauce that overpowered the rice. No veggies came with the teriyaki chicken so I had to buy from another place in the food court to round it out. I would try other places in the food court before coming back. read more

CID Food Walk stop number two: Aloha Plates, the classic Hawaiian standby in the Uwajimaya food court. 2x Spam Musubi + Mac Salad Food Walk Special ($8) - The spam musubi are held in a heater so they are served warmed up by default. I didn't expect much out of these, but they were surprisingly good. The rice is cooked perfectly, sticky and tender, yet each grain is distinctive and almost bouncy, giving great mouthfeel. The musubi seems to be dipped in a small amount of soy sauce, although not enough to cover the entire rice surface. The additional sodium isn't really needed in the first place due to the salty and meaty kick the spam on top gives the handheld snack. It's a classic combination for a good reason! (4/5) For the Food Walk special, they only give a small scoop of mac salad. I'm sure the normal side portion for $5.94 is much larger. The salad is unspectacular but solid. It's a little sweet, a bit peppery, and certainly very creamy. There's a bit of julienned carrot included that isn't particularly crunchy, being soaked in the mayo sauce. The macaroni itself isn't mushy or overcooked, so it still has some texture. (4/5) I don't usually expect much out of food court restaurants, but Aloha Plates definitely surprised me with their quality. It seems like a solid option for Hawaiian. read more

I got my order from GrubHub. I live pretty close by, so my food was still hot when I got it. I got the Loco Moco platter. It's pretty obvious that they get pre formed, frozen burger patties. They need to salt and pepper their burgers. They also need to season their gravy. Both were pretty bland. The macaroni salad was the shining star of this meal and I ordered it as an extra. I also ordered extra gravy. I'm glad I did because the amount they give you in the platter is not enough. It was good not great. I will probably order from them again, just maybe something else. This Hawaiian eatery is located in a food hall in Chinatown Seattle area. They had excellent customer service. The food was hot and fresh. Our party ordered burgers, Shin ramen, musubi and the Bok Bok meal. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The Shin Ramen was spicier than we expected. My musubi had hard rice, however another one was fluffy and delicious. Prices were comparable to others in the food hall. We sat nearby on the many available tables. read more

This is a great place to get good, reasonably priced, Hawaiian food in the Uwajimaya food court. We are quite fond of the Kalua Pork, Mac salad, and Loco Moco. The katsu and teriyaki are also good, as well as the burger and fries. In fact. Everything we have had here is good, and we would get it again. It's fast food. I got the teriyaki chicken, which is kind of a general go to when in Seattle. It had absolutely no spice to it, of which I'm not accustomed. I like spicier chicken teriyaki. The food court itself has a decent amount of seating that fills up every weekend, though I came here with a friend on a Friday afternoon to get something quick to eat here. They have a good selection of combo plates and Musubi, and everything on the menu looked tempting. Since I only ordered up at the counter, no comment on service here. I got the kalua pork and chicken katsu combo here, and it came packaged in a box along with a side of Mac salad. This was all right at best; the pork was slightly more watered down than what I would have preferred, so there wasn't too much taste. I didn't expect to find this spot inside a grocery store shopping center. The service was really fast and attentive, and they were really friendly. You could smell the food as they were cooking it and it got me hyped. I got the chicken katsu loco moco (kinda new to me, I've only ever had the og), and it was good. The katsu chicken was the best part. The egg was a little overcooked so it wasn't runny, and the onions were undercooked so they hadn't really caramelized.
