Used to be my goto teriyaki. More recently I tried to order what used to be my go to order. Teriyaki with brown rice and Mac salad. First, they don't offer brown rice anymore. Or it's not available online. Disappointing but I continued. Next, I ordered with white rice and added 2 cups Mac salad for delivery. Then l, when it arrived here is what I noticed. 1. The white rice was wet and overcooked/soggy? It was starting to look more like pudding. Gross. 2. No Mac salad. They completely left it out of my order. Meaning I paid $4 for nothing. 3. The chicken is just okay. Overall really disappointing because this was my old favorite. I will also note that I used to get teriyaki because the katsu is usually too thin. So now I don't even trust them for what I would consider my "safe" order. Sad. read more

Aloha Plates can be found in the food court of Uwajimaya Seattle. There were a lot of people in this food court trying out Aloha Plates so I wanted to check out their food. I was craving Hawaiian so I thought this would be a good fit! The person taking my order was nice and efficient. She also was kind to answer my questions about the portion sizes so I appreciated that. Once I paid she got my order number and immediately went back into the zone of taking other peoples orders. I really commemorate her for her diligent work! Once I got my food (the chicken katsu + Kalua pork combo - around $17), I was excited and hungry so I couldn't wait to dig in. I started with the macaroni salad and I loved it!! I tried the kalua pork as well and for some reason I thought it would be different. It felt a bit mushy but the flavoring was okay. I wasn't sure how to feel about it but it was just okay. I also tried the chicken katsu and it was so thin. I mean it wasn't bad but I just felt like it was too thin and I wanted a bit more meat on it. I think overall I think it was average and perhaps I would need to try one of their other dishes such as the short ribs or burgers. read more

TLDR: Dry, overcooked food and being overpriced is not a very good combo to have. I got takeout from Aloha plates since I was craving hawaiian food, and boy do I wish that I had just waited to go somewhere nice instead of the closest nearby place. I ordered the chicken katsu and terriyaki chicken plate "Bok Bok" with Mac salad. My firat impression upon getting my food was a mild disappointment that the Mac salad, which i paid extra for, was pittifully small. While I've grown accustomed to getting a nice big scoop of Mac salad for free from many hawaiian grills, what I paid EXTRA for was really just a few small spoons of Mac salad. But it gets worse. The chicken katsu was 90% batter with just a sliver of dry chicken inside. And the terriyaki chicken was overcooked, giving the chicken a dry, stringy texture. Who knew that chicken could be dry even when lathered in tons of sauce. Overall, I'm probably never coming back here, and I wouldn't recommend this to anyone either. read more

Gross. Located in Uwajimaya food court. Not authentic hawaiian food. Not a very busy restaurant either. Ordered online for pick up and it was prepared and ready quickly. Spam musubi is $3.75. It is small and the rice absorbed the sauce from the spam. I got a combo plate called "Ono". The Ono plate consists of teriyaki chicken and short ribs. The pictures posted on Yelp look different compared to what I got. The short ribs in my plate had big bones! No thank you. The meat was chewy and fatty as well, so that was disappointing. The teriyaki chicken was alright fresh, but if you don't enjoy it right away it's harder and also salty. I think they use a really salty or maybe even Kikkoman shoyu. The meats were served on a bed of rice and grilled onions. The onions were a waste of space and did not pair well with the meat combination. I do not recommend this place at all. I have had this place a few times now. Trying something different every time. Their loco moco is good. Hard to mess that up. The short rib and teriyaki chicken is also good. The garlic shrimp is more buttery than garlicky. Also not super flavorful. That's disappointing. The katsu chicken is crispy but thin. And rather bland. Depending on your flavorful profile. Some dish are more flavorful than others. Pick based on what you like. read more

Decent Hawaiian fusion place. I saw the chicken katsu and got lured in. I had the chicken katsu loco moco. The gravy was tasty and the katsu texture was pretty good, I would have preferred a bit juicier chicken than what I got. The katsu itself wasn't that flavorful which I found disappointing but I think that's pretty traditional. For $16 a plate, I think it pretty average price for the food. I seen a lot of review for this place through other social media so I decided to check it out. We ordered ahead of time and the food was ready right when we got there. First, the cashier was super nice and considerate: she told us that she separate the sauce so that our food doesn't get mushy and made sure we had plenty of napkins and utensils. Food: Spam tacos / kalua pork tacos: these tacos are super filled with meat! It also came with some cabbages at the bottom. The meat was flavorful, tender, and juicy. I like the tonkatsu and salsa sauce mixed to go with these tacos. Also the taco shell was a little crispy as well. Loco moco with brown rice and green salad: definitely a good choice with brown rice as it was super flavorful and soft and just went well. The beef patty and egg was good but the star was definitely the gravy. The gravy was soooo good. I actually dipped the taco with the gravy as well. Price was really reasonable for what you get, we were stuffed by the end of the meal. I will definitely be back here for more food in the future! read more

This is our second long stay in Seattle, and given our homesickness for Hawaii/local grinds, we finally gave in to trying this place. We made it an Uber Eats night. The wife got a chicken katsu and kalua pig plate, and I had the fish burger with fries (not a unique Hawaii food but oh well). First off, the fish burger was exceptional. One of the best ones I've ever had. They give you a good amount of fish that was perfectly cooked and had amazing flavor. The fries were also good. The katsu was decent. Sorry, when you grow up on chicken katsu plates from L&L in Hawaii, mainland versions just don't come close. The chicken in this dish was so thin that it was primarily batter. The kalua pig lacked the smoke flavor and needed a bit more salt. Lastly, the Mac salad was decent but still not like Hawaii style. Overall, the dish had some good flavors... enough to remind me of Hawaii... but just not at the same level as Hawaii plate lunches. Portion size vs. cost also left more to be desired. Overall, I would come back here again to try other dishes, and would definitely have a fish burger again. FYI, my wife also got the little smokies plate for breakfast tomorrow but she hasn't sampled it yet. read more

This place is located inside the Uwajimaya store. It's good food that is served pretty quickly. We just needed a simple and quick snack - Rice with spam and eggs. It's hard to go wrong with that combo. The portion was generous, and it did the job of holding us until dinner. read more

My first visit to Aloha Plates in the Uwajimaya Food Court (9/1/19). We were killing time for seating at another ID restaurant. The line also at a mochi doughnut place was ridiculous. Two words = Spam musubis. Didn't look at the rest of the menu, probably should next time. Also, start a stamp card. Forgot to do this. You get two musubis with one order. The Homie gobbled one before we made a mad dash back to the text from the other restaurant. I ate two today and The Homie ate his other one, all three were refrigerated overnight, unwrapped and briefly microwaved. Wow - this are flavorful! But then it doesn't take much to get me excited having a musubi. Being Filipino American, steamed rice and Spam just needs eggs! Favorite Hawaiian places to date include north is Bobby's in north Lynnwood, south is Kauai Family Kitchen, decent musubis at Cafe Kai in Bremerton and Central Market in Poulsbo....further west over in Oahu, Kauai, Maui, or the Big Island. Especially at Foodland. lol Definitely will make it a point to look at the rest of the menu and sit down to get my carb quota of two scoop rice, one scoop mac for ono grinds at Aloha Plates. read more

Aloha plate is the first restaurant you'll see tucked away in uwajimaya's food hall, and might be the first place I'd recommend. While it's by no means HI good, it's excellent quick Hawaiian for the area, prices are reasonable and the portions are ginormous. I got the K&K plate (Chicken Katsu & Kalua Pork) and definitely had enough for two meals. My only gripe is that I wanted far more Mac salad than just the little condiment cup could hold. read more

Aloha Plates is one of the restaurant stands located in the Uwagimaya grocery store food court. I tried the chicken katsu and the kalua pig shredded pork. Both come with a side of rice and macaroni salad. The chicken katsu was my favorite of the two dishes. It had a perfect crunchy exterior that was so delicious! The shredded pork was tender and good too, I just loved the crunch of the chicken. I also loved the Mac salad. They offer other entrees too like burgers and shrimp, which I am eager to try next time I come to the food court. Just be wary if you come to the food court during the lunch or dinner rush, since there is limited seating within to eat. Just a few tables for a lot of people to share. But the food is easy to take to go and to eat at home as well. read more
