Mini kao soi w crispy chicken
Hoai Huong P.

I went here for the first time for Plate of Nations and was so impressed by how beautiful the space was and the delicious food. I especially loved the Kao Soi, the service was great too.

Placed an order online at 7 PM on a Thursday. I received a text that my food would be ready between 7:25-7:30. I arrived at around 7:25 to a mildly busy restaurant and I was immediatly helped by a kind waitress. My food was luckily ready so I could take it and go. The vibes of the restaurant seemed great, with nice comfortable seating so next time I'd consider eating in. I got the crispy crab wontons and pad see ew with chicken. The crispy crab wontons were delicious I would definitely get them again. The pad see ew was quite good. Got it with a 3/4 spice and I could taste the spice so that was great! Not really that strong flavor otherwise but some salt and pepper helped a ton. Would love to try the curry next time!

Tom yum soup, half eaten to-go size small

I've tried this spot twice, once sit down and once to-go. This is a review for the to-go food! Got spice level 2 for everything and probably will get 3 next time because the 2 wasn't very spicy the first day, but got spicier the second day as leftovers Pad see ew: pretty good, but didn't have much of a caramelization flavor that I typically love. I want to try more noodle dishes here though! Tom yum fried rice with beef: my favorite Tom yum fried rice is at Ocha in Renton (I don't gatekeep restaurants!), but I'd say this one comes second! Has the savory, the sour, the meats! Pad Cha Gang Pa: got this curry because it comes with different proteins, enjoyed this with the rice and having the Thai eggplant was so interesting! Definitely not a veg I see often Tom yum soup: enjoyed this, it has all the key flavors! Should have gotten spicier

Chicken kee mao noodles.

Happy to see this Thai restaurant in the heart of Columbia City! The space is nice and welcoming, with friendly staff. Service was a little on the slow side even with not many other guests in the restaurant! I got the chicken kee mao noodles with 2 stars (out of 4). It wasn't spicy at at all. The dish was good with lots of vegetables however, the noodles themselves lacked some flavor. I would return here and try other items and overall I thought the food was good but was not blown away.

When I saw a new Thai place had opened up with good reviews, I knew I had to come check it out. Tom yum soup- 4/5 hit the spot Pad see ew- 4/5 this was pretty good, it has the wok hey taste (kinda reminds me of chow fun) Khao soi- 5/5 I love ordering khao soi at different Thai restaurants to compare them. This one is def up there! I didn't even end up using the spicy sauce (shocking because I looove spicy food) because I didn't want it to mask the curry taste. Also everyone who worked at the restaurant was soo sweet. Someone mentioned that khao soi is from their hometown and they make it taste exactly that way. The quality and the price is unbeatable! There's been too many mediocre thai places that have popped up with ridiculous prices in Seattle so it's really refreshing to find a solid Thai place again!

Cashew chili with pork belly

A fantastic addition to Columbia City! The ambiance is trendy and modern inside, and the staff is incredibly nice and attentive. We ended up ordering the cashew chili rice plate with added pork belly, and it felt comfy and home cooked. We greatly enjoyed khao soi - the curry was creamy and flavorful. We asked for level 2 spicy which didn't really feel spicy at all. Their glasses of wine are currently $12, and their bottles are currently $35, which I think is a good deal. They have creative cocktails for $12 as well. I think this restaurant can really shine in the small Columbia City downtown area. We definitely hope to come back again!

Maa Kiin is a new Thai restaurant on Rainier, in the middle of Columbia City. This puts them in competition with Bua 9 Thai, a few blocks further south. Now, don't get me wrong, Bua 9 has great food, but it is more of a take-out joint. Sure, they have seating, but there is zero atmosphere or ambiance. Maa Kiin, on the other hand, has a gorgeous interior. The food is beautifully presented as well as delicious. I'd happily go on a date there, and they have a few dishes I hadn't tried before, such as the Khao soi. There's an interesting cocktail menu, too, that I look forward to experiencing. We're lucky to have such a great new restaurant open in our neighborhood!

I've eaten here a few times and I just love coming back. It's my fav Thai restaurant so far.

Pad see ew with tofu

Super tasty Thai restaurant now open in Columbia City! The pad see ew reminded me of eating in Thailand - flavorful and charred/stir fried well! The panang curry was the perfect consistency, not too thick or thin. The juices/flavor of the sizzling beef was soo tasty and easy to chew (not too fatty). And also went well with the garlic green beans! We were saying how the green beans reminded us of the ones from Naam (in Madrona) and we found out they're owned by the same people and Naam's head chef preps sauces and some food for them. To top it off, we had the mango sticky rice! Mango is in season and was perfect! I wish the sticky rice had a bit more coconut flavor (from the coconut milk/cream) but that's just my personal preference. Pretty standard Thai iced tea and fun cocktails that are reasonably priced. I also went a second time and got chicken pad thai, which was average. It had good flavor but I wish it was pan fried a bit more (maybe more sauce..?) as the noodles look sort of plain. The spice levels aren't that spicy, so if you like spice I'd recommend asking for chili oil/flakes. Prices are pretty decent for entrees ($14-18) but add $2 for beef, $3 for prawns, and $5 for seafood. Overall, 10/10 would recommend! I'll definitely be back to try out more dishes and to have pad see ew + mango sticky rice again!

The food I ordered was all really good. The kao soi was super tasty and they packaged it well with the noodles and toppings separate from the curry so it wouldn't get soggy. The chicken drumstick was also tender and flavorful. Eating the leftover broth with rice was amazing. Their pad Thai was good too, I'm happy it wasn't super sweet/ketchupy. The crispy pork belly, chicken satay, and grilled pork were all great too. I would definitely eat here again.

They have locations both in Downtown Seattle and Greenlake, but I have only been to their Downtown Seattle location which has a beautiful view of the Puget Sound. The atmosphere is dark, trendy, and modern- perfect for a date night or nice evening out. While they are a white table cloth, sit-down restaurant, you can dress casually or dress up a bit - both are completely acceptable. This most recent visit I ordered the COCONUT PANANG CURRY with chicken ($25.95) and my friend ordered her favorite dish, SALMON GARLIC FRIED RICE ($28.95). On a past visit, I've had their CLAY POT SHRIMP & GLASS NOODLES (KOONG OB WOONSEN) ($27.95) which was absolutely fantastic and has had me hooked on Pad Woonsen ever since! I saw the COCONUT PANANG CURRY recently in my Instagram feed and knew I had to get it. It is served in a whole coconut (yes a real, fresh coconut!) and comes with a champagne flute of fresh coconut juice from the coconut they hollowed out and a side of Jasmine rice. The curry was rich, flavorful, and full of Thai basil and peppers. The coconut juice was light and refreshing and a great contrast to the thick curry. The SALMON GARLIC FRIED RICE (which I've sampled before), is gigantic, aromatic, and served with a giant grilled garlic butter fillet of salmon on top. The salmon is extremely moist, oily, and bursting with flavor. The rice is fragrant and has garlic paste, red bell pepper, carrots, and green onion. If you're looking for a tasty and protein-packed meal, this is the dish! Parking is honestly tough in this area as it's located on 1st. They have limited street parking and a few paid parking garage options around. I recommend light railing or Ubering here if you're not already in the downtown Seattle area. Service is always great and we always get our food quickly, no matter how crowded they are. The staff also take the time to check up on your table during your meal. Overall: 5/5 for food, 5/5 for service, 5/5 for atmosphere

Even though I really wanted to love this place, this place was definitely overhyped; I'd say it's about the same level as A Ma's, which I also didn't enjoy. It might be because the place has gone super viral as we ended up waiting 80 minutes on a Saturday night, so quality control might be more difficult at this point. Tip: the iPad will say the wait is 30 minutes, do not trust the iPad. Hainan Chicken was tasteless and overcooked. The texture was way too chewy and was my least favorite preparation of the night. Gai Tod (fried) was better with a crispy outside, but still a tad overcooked. Gai Yang (grilled) was definitely the best version of chicken and is solid enough if you live nearby, but definitely not driving out of your way or waiting for. Rice wasn't super fluffy and I just prefer garlic rice over ginger. The chicken stock is probably the best part of the rice plates. Upside is the joint is definitely family owned and they do their best to provide good service in spite of the chaos. They'll take your order before you get seated, so the food comes out fast and are generally very sweet when checking in.

Vibe - When I walked in, it felt like I was in a nighttime district on the streets of Thailand, eating and drinking whatever they had available. The vibe was that of a dark ambiance, with neon lights shining throughout the restaurant. Hospitality - The front-of-house staff was well-mannered and courteous, and they seated us quickly on a Monday night at 8:00 PM. It was a relatively busy night. However, we ordered fairly quickly, and the food came out within 10 to 15 minutes. Food - Food-wise, we ordered the Fried Papaya, Crispy Fried Rice, Khao Soi, Tom Yum, and Crispy Pork Belly Fried Rice. Gosh, I have to say, I was blown away by the flavors and the portion sizes! Typically, four dishes can serve three people, but I felt like these could have served five. The fried papaya salad was lightly battered with a typical papaya salad dipping sauce featuring a base of fish sauce, green beans, tomatoes, and chilies. It was good. The crispy fried rice was served with lettuce wraps, and OMG, I kid you not when I tell you this is some of the crispiest rice I've ever had. It's hard to find, but when you do, you can't wait to take another bite. I thought the khao soi overall was not bad. I enjoyed that they put the fried noodles on top so that you can mix them into the curry when it's brought out. Lastly, the pork belly was well-cooked with a crispy, crunchy exterior, and served with delicious Thai-flavored fried rice! Drinks - We ordered the Thai lemon iced tea and the Thai tea cremosa. Both tasted good. Overall, I was very satisfied with this place, and if I lived here, I could see myself grabbing some late-night bites with the homies.
