    Perfect steak
    Francine L.

Got into Seattle at night, and this was the place we came to for dinner. The Metropolitan Grill has that old-school vibe, where they can check your coats right when you walk in! I haven't seen this for a while unless I was on the East coast, so to see it in Seattle I thought it was pretty nice. The servers are dressed like back in the days with nicely black suits and just a polished look. How I wish I lived back in the day! The food here is divine and I would suggest this place to everyone, if you want a delicious steak and a nice baked potato this place is the one. The vibe is legit and they are good, there aren't that many places like this around and I wish they had something like this in Los Angeles. It has been a long time since I have had a really good steak done right. This one was done perfectly rare and delicious! Yum, thank you for making this night so enjoyable for all of us!

Everything went very well, we had a delightful waitress. It was my birthday celebration and we got an intimate booth close to the front but cut off from everyone. They were busy as it was a Saturday, and we sat down probably 20 min after our reservation. Drinks were great and food was delicious. I got a rib eye and she got the special. We got Mac n cheese, baked potatoe, asparagus, and mushrooms. Steak was cooked exactly how I ordered, Mac and cheese was great and mushrooms were perfect with the steak. Asparagus was cooked really well but just wasn't our thing. He fish dish was well put together but was dry for her taste, flavor and everything was great just a tad over done we felt. IMPORTANT: They do have a 20% surcharge that is split with the kitchen and server. So if you don't add to it, your server only gets 10% tip if I remember right. I personally wish restaurants would just raise their prices to accommodate the % surcharge instead of adding it at the end. You might as well charge food separate and put those prices in the menu, and then add 40% for labor. It's really no different. All in all I recommend.

    Maine Lobster Bisque, $16 - 4.5 Stars

I don't know why I am writing a review for Metroplitan Grill other than for the sack of completeness and to remind me 'what I ate previously'. Met Grill is the premier steakhouse in Seattle. Hands down. Everyone knows this. Cost be dayamned. They are simply great with what they do. For this occasion, it was hubby's birthday, and it was time for a return visit. Making a reservation was easy. We are led through the old school classy brown wood restaurant. Before you leave the host/hostess area, be sure to gawk at the celebrities photos who have dined here. Green Day caught my eye. Our white coated server was attentive. With our order of the Châteaubriand, she said it takes 40 minutes and suggested we order something while we wait. It was a cold day, so we both ordered soups. Alas, the soups weren't necessary. The Châteaubriand arrived in 20+ minutes, cut and served by a dedicated server in black and bow-tie. Cool. We were too full to order desserts, but my hubby was gifted a crème brûlée nonetheless for his birthday. Thank you! Per their website: "A 20% service charge is included on each check." "Additional gratuities are not required or expected." https://www.themetropolitangrill.com/our-service-charge/ The Food: French Onion Soup, $17 - 5 Stars Menu: Swiss Emmentaler, caramelized onions, crostini, beef and veal stock, vermouth Hubby loves a rich French onion soup. This one hits the spot - decadent and rich. The Swiss Emmentaler is perfection. Maine Lobster Bisque, $16 - 4.5 Stars Menu: Rich lobster stock, heavy cream, Cognac The lobster bisque is not as visually attractive as the French onion soup. It is served lukewarm, not bubbly hot. Plenty of lobster pieces were in this bowl. Though it is good, I will not order in the future and just wait for the steak. Châteaubriand, $195 - 5 Stars Menu: 24oz, Carved tableside. Classic cliff sauce, Parmesan tomato crowns, mushroom caps I completely underestimated the beauty of this dish. The steak, medium-rare per our request, is gorgeous with the mushroom caps, the tomato, the sauce, and choice of starches. Hubby always gets a baked potato with everything. Mine is the golden hashbrown. Both are beautiful. We will be back.

I was in town for a quick work trip and needed a quick bite to eat. I ordered their burger on happy hour and it did not disappoint! I wasn't expecting to get such a large meal, I almost couldn't finish it! The burger was cooked well, tasted great and the jojos were nice touch as well. Next time I go back I'll get a steak

Metropolitan Grill is in my top 3 most reliable American fine dining restaurant in the greater Seattle area. I have been here numerous times over the last two decades for various reasons and occasions and I cannot say I had even one subpar experience. Whether it is for casual happy hour in the bar area, business lunch/dinner, large group event, brunch before the Seahawks game, their service and food preparation have always been top notch. It's such a safe choice too. They literally have something for everyone and can accommodate pretty much any food restrictions you can think of. They also have a great wine and whisky list and offer some beer on tap as well. The atmosphere is not casual per se but you do not need to dress to come here. I was here a few times severely underdressed but I was always treated with respect by all the staff. Highly recommended!

My husband and I came here to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary and we loved it. It was easily within walking distance of our hotel which was downtown. We were greeted with friendly staff members from the second we walked inside to when we left. The food was delicious. We got the prime tenderloin bites and that by far has to be one of our favorites, so juicy and it melted in our mouths. I got a NY Striploin and my husband got the filet combination and we got a Mac and Cheese to share. Everything was awesome and they even surprised us with a little dessert for our anniversary, it was very kind of them. Definitely recommend!

It was almost good until I realized the restaurant owner sees themselves as royalty and their workers as peasants.

I don't care how good your food is if you add a 20% service charge on top of the tip. We as customers cannot continue to let businesses get away with this. Unfortunately, most of the people who go to steakhouses like this are elitists who don't have the mentality to care about the people serving them. I encourage everybody in the Seattle area to stand up to greed by not giving your business to scams like Metropolitan Grill. EDIT: To the business owner who replied - Of course taking more money from customers to give to your servers helps your servers make more money. That's basic math. I'm just saying that you should be the one giving them more money. Not us. Take it out of your own pocket. They're your employees.

    Hot Apple Pie
    Elaine W.

Went here for a business-ish dinner and ordered the prime & American wagyu filet combo with baked potato and the hot apple pie. Overall, the steak was cooked well and I enjoyed the tableside service for the baked potato! It was nice that they fluffed it up and added the toppings in as a little show, but it wasn't as hype as some of the reviews made it out to be (although maybe that's because I didn't get cheese sauce or sour cream?). Apple pie flambé was absolutely crazy to watch, but I also didn't feel that the apple pie was necessarily a can't miss dish. The walnut crust was delicious though and I liked that you could taste a bit of the rum that they used for the flambé in the caramelized apples. One nice thing is that most of the seating for smaller parties is all booth seating, so it's a great place for a date night! Service charge is included so you don't need to tip. They do tax you on top of the service charge though so watch out for that! For parking, I'd recommend parking in the Wells Fargo garage across the street. It's very secure and cheaper than valet.

This is a tough review. I give the service, ambiance and food 5 stars. Everything we ate was quite delicious and served in style. I absolutely have to dock it a star at least for the tipping and service charge policy. I would give it a one star I'm so angry about it, but that would be misleading. They charge a 10% service fee on all items pre-tax!!!! They then turn around and expect me to tip 20% for the wait staff. Are you kidding me!!!! Am I going to be paying 30% on my meal and then pay taxes on that added 10%. You can fill in the proper f word! Even worse, forget that I am already paying 3 times the retail price on the two bottles of wine we bought. That is just insulting. My only choice since they wouldn't remove it, was to only tip 10%, which shafted my waiter. Just going all the wrong directions. Read the room people. Americans are sick of your tip gouging. Until this policy is changed, neither myself nor anyone I can talk to about a recommendation will be going here. Just sad because it was a lovely establishment.

    Bone in filet mignon
    Alexis B.

We came here for an early dinner. My dad had made reservations and we were seated right away. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between classic elegance and contemporary comfort, but it was the food and service that truly stole the show. I ordered the bone-in filet, and I can honestly say it was one of the best steaks I've ever had. Perfectly seared with a beautiful crust, cooked exactly to medium-rare, and seasoned with just enough restraint to let the rich, natural flavor of the beef shine through. Each bite was buttery, tender, and deeply satisfying. To complement the meal, we were fortunate to receive a wine recommendation from their sommelier, who was both knowledgeable and incredibly approachable. The wine she selected was not only perfectly matched to the steak but elevated the entire experience. The Metropolitan's wine list is impressive on its own, but the personal touch of expert guidance made it even more exceptional. The sommelier even gave me her card because I asked about her experience and she told me to reach out with questions. We ended the night with carrot cake--a showstopper. Moist and dense, it came topped with velvety cream cheese frosting and came with came with vanilla ice cream. Overall the service throughout was impeccable. Every detail, from water refills to pacing of courses, was handled flawlessly. If you're looking for a place that delivers on every front--steak, wine, dessert, and genuine hospitality--The Metropolitan Grill should be at the top of your list.

Fantastic! Everything was perfection. Amazing food, amazing service, amazing ambiance! Would love to come back if visiting Seattle. 100000000% recommended! I ordered the mashed potatoes with my meal, but our server overheard my conversation saying i should have gotten the baked potato! So she brought we one!!! It was delicious. Don't mind my excitement in the video, the wine enhanced my enthusiasm!! Definitely in the top 5 of steak restaurants we've been too!

    Specialty Cocktails a partial list

Birthday dinner for my nephew last night. We got there early to enjoy some fancy mixology. There were seven in our party and we did our best to sample all of the special cocktails. Me? I stick with the classic Sip Smith London Dry gin martini up with one Olive. Tip: the regular olives are just okay and unstuffed! Get the blue cheese stuffed olives. Ambiance is classic old school steakhouse and this one has been a Seattle institution since I can remember. The second owner has done the impossible he has improved on perfection. I could wax on about how great each appetizer was and each entree and each dessert...suffice to say there is only one other steakhouse in Seattle as nearly perfect as The Met. All that personal attention and delicious food has a pretty price, of course it does; why would you expect otherwise? Do it, you deserve it.

Ask the Community - Metropolitan Grill

    They still got happy hour?

    They don't. I miss it. :(

What does the "service charge" include and how much? What about a gratuity for the waiters and buspersons?

The restaurant has an explanation of the service charge on their webpage https://www.themetropolitangrill.com/our-service-charge/ (At the bottom of the Menu tab). FYI, Indeed.com lists the average salary for a server at the Met as $30.86 an hour.

    Is this location sketchy?

No, we parked on the street and didn't run into anyone concerning while walking to and from the restaurant.

Can someone post the kids menu? Or can they make just pasta?

I was looking over their menu and noticed they have side of 4 cheese mac and cheese. They are focused on service so I bet they can make you something. But, I didn't see a kids menu.

What are the vegan dishes available?

This is a meat-centric place but I did see a vegan Bolognese and a couple of vegan salads on the menu. But, maybe the smell of charred meats might not be too appetizing for a vegan.

Is this a kid friendly place for say an early dinner, do they have a children's menu. Kids 8&9?

I would say no. I have never seen kids there. Happy Hour is early and it gets packed with business folks. It's loud, and old school cocktail and steakhouse vibe, and I'd encourage you to consider other, more kid friendly spots near Pike Place Market.

Would they make me bananas foster if I'm sitting in the bar area?

If this place would do something to serve a customer, they would. They do such a beautiful job at it. I believe that you can get the full menu in the bar. If there is any place that can or would do anything, it would be them.

Is there any parking nearby or a reliable place to find a parking spot?

There is street parking and valet is $10.

What is the dress attire to this restaurant?

Seattle dress code. People go in formal, business casual, and jeans. I work nearby and have been there for lunch, happy hour, and dinner. Whatever makes you comfortable.

Roquette was a surprisingly small space with a wonderful vibe serving up "destination" bar-worthy cocktails. It reminded me of some of the neighborhood gem cocktail bars that I'd frequented on the East Coast. I grabbed a seat at the bar. I started off with the 99 Problems ($28), which, unfortunately, I forgot to note what was in the drink. It was boozy, clever, inventive, and most importantly delicious. My second drink was the Imperium Old Fashioned ($24) made with Westland Whiskey "Roquette" Barrel, Clement Cask Strength Rhum, Old Delicious Apple Brandy, Pineapple, and Spice. It was an excellent, boozy, balanced update to the classic Old Fashioned. Although I went with drinks off their menu, I have no doubt that any of their skilled bar professionals could've crafted me a wonderful cocktail if I had simply requested a classic or something on the fly based on my choice of spirit and desired flavor profile.
