I went to an event at 13 coins and I had an experience that seemed to be both sides of the coin. I got to the event early and hung out in the lounge/bar until my wife arrived and the event started. It was a bit surreal sitting with Lumen Field Stadium lit up in the background. The bar had some regulars chatting and laughing, but this is Pioneer Square and let's say the area did create an interesting interaction inside the restaurant. When my lovely wife arrived we made our way downstairs to their event area. This is definitely the other side of the coin. The staff were incredible and attentive. I tried some of the small bites, and they were delicious. Im definitely not one to mix sweet food and savory food...but... the chicken was aggressively seasoned and I loved it. The waffle was delicious... I just can't eat them together. The frutatta was good. The chicken parmesan was really good, I had 2. The beef bite was delicious as well, my wife loved the sauce. Oh.. the small plate with the olives was a nice fresh break. We ended with a good chocolate mousse. Thank you 13 coins for a fun night with great service and atmosphere. It's been a few years since the last time we were here, but I wanted to come back to try the antipasto martini (it was fine, but I wouldn't make a special trip again). I got the French onion soup and chicken parm and my bf got the veggie frittata. Everything was SO SALTY, the chicken was overcooked, and we never got water refills even though our server checked on us every 5 mins. I think we were her only table. We didn't tell her anything was wrong because she seemed new (not just to this restaurant, but to serving in general), and we were afraid any complaint would end up causing more trouble than it was worth. My soup and entree were brought at the exact same time, so that was our first clue. The decor is super cool. The downstairs bar seems like it would probably be more our vibe, but it wasn't open - it might just be for game days or something. But I think we'd limit ourselves to cocktails from now on, regardless. Service was super attentive, and when I was asked if I wanted hot sauce for my eggs.The waiter brought it out unscrewed the top and laid it down on the table beside me. That was the extra mile for me, really simple.But extremely well appreciated. Portions were huge and I took home half. If you read these reviews, institutional racism is alive and well here at this restaurant. Even though the "Hostess" observed us from afar, she did not bother to approach and seat us. Instead, after approximately 5 minutes, we seated ourselves, this, of course, pissed off the Hostess with the leastness, and the bitch went ahead & told the waitress to give us poor service, which we received in plenty. Appetizer served AFTER the entrée (So I sent it back). I also had to ask for coffee thrice, etc. The food, however, was good, therefore I part with one star. My friend and I visited for our first time and had such a wonderful experience, thanks in large part to Allan, our server. My childhood friend was visiting from Arizona, and since we're both originally from there (though I live in Washington now), it was especially nice how Allan connected with us in a way that felt warm and familiar. He was personable, funny, and made us feel genuinely welcome from the start. The food was just as impressive. Everything we ordered was so good--from the appetizer to our entrées, and especially the dessert. The crème brûlée was perfectly done and easily one of the highlights of the night. You can tell care goes into both the food and the overall experience. He also gave us excellent recommendations for both an appetizer and desserts, and both were absolutely worth it. Great service really can shape a dining experience, and Allan made this first visit memorable in the best way. Traveling out of town and on your last day when you've seen all that Seattle has to give you do just want some good food before you leave. They offer that and a great happy hour at night. Love the ambiance of this location- we usually sit at the bar & Oscar takes excellent care of us. We do love the patio in the summer as well. The three of us got a few menu items to share after we got our drinks; martinis & tequila soda with an orange slice. I have been going to 13 Coins since I was a child. I came here on Christmas Day this time. They were really busy but able to get a seat at the bar. Service was to be expected slow I had ordered an ice tea that never came until I asked about it when they brought my salad. Salad was good. It's more about the ambience for me. We've had good food here before, but apparently today the kitchen decided to try performance art instead of cooking. First up, the "Crispy" Brussels Sprouts. Spoiler: they weren't crispy. They were crunchy... because they were raw. Just barely warmed and drowned in some mystery teriyaki-ish sauce. We asked for bacon--got none. Maybe the chef was saving it for someone special? Then came the Pasta Verdura, which is supposedly pasta with vegetables. Apparently the kitchen interprets that as pasta with one or two vegetables that accidentally fell in on the way to the plate. My wife had pasta with scallops and shrimp and she loved it. I will say the only thing that I don't like is that this place is quite expensive for just decent food. I don't mind spending a lot of money on something that's extremely high-quality. The other thing that kind of bothers me is that they play top 40 Music Way too loud for my liking and more TVs than I ever need to look at. Our server Siobhan was very friendly and helped us pick a beer which was fantastic. The french onion soup was perfection! All of our food was scrumptious. Biscuits and gravy was so good. The food was good, the vibes in there were very cool. My complaint is they let people camp out at the booths. When there are people brining in their suit cases clearly killing time before they can check in to the hotel and taking up the limited booths 13 coins has, that's a problem. We walked in at 11:30 for lunch and requested a booth. The host informed me we would have to wait b/c none of them were open and he couldn't guess how long it would be until a booth opened up. We had to wait for 30 minutes for a booth to open up from a couple legitimately having food and then we walk past booth after booth with suitcases next to it and with people just sitting there sipping a coffee or a water. Then the same people were still just sitting there with a coffee and a water after we sat, ordered, ate, paid and left... that's a problem. I have no clue, not one, why the general manager would allow that to happen. The owners are probably more concerned with booth turn over and generating revenue then letting someone camp out especially during the lunch hour rush. I saw probably 3 parties turn away at the door b/c they didn't want to sit at a bar and didn't want to wait for an undisclosed amount of time. I was shocked. It is also very rude of those people to do that. I get it, you need a place to go kill time, go find a lounge or a bar, not a restaurant. Table camping in a booth at a restaurant just shows a lack of self-awareness and self-centeredness. read more

We ate here 2 years ago 2023 and the service and food was okay- we decided to give it another try 2025, we were concerned at first because it was so busy but honestly if you have a little patience you won't be disappointed. We had the same exact thing- Rubin sandwich with fries and berry waffle, I believe Chuck was our waiter & he was so friendly despite obviously working so hard to keep up with the amount of tables he was responsible for. I've been going to 13 Coins for over 30 years. I went there a couple of months ago and odered a Ukrainian Joe Special to go. When I got home it didn't have the sour cream. I called back and the manager on duty s told me it's doesn't come with sour cream. I informed it does. He said he went and checked with the chef and he told him it don't either. After arguing with him I called a different location. The woman on the phone confirmed that it ford come with sour cream. I have been coming to 13 coins for over 30 years! This was my first time at this location. Located next to both stadiums so that's a plus after a game. They quoted us a 45 minute wait time but we got seated in 15 minutes another plus. Staff was attentive and very nice! Appetizer of the steamed clams in pesto broth 9/10 it tasted great just wish there was more clams. I love how they give the free veggie munchie tray with bread 10/10. My husband got the steak David with filet mignon top with crab and hollandaise sauce, the steak was cooked to perfection so tender and full of flavor 10/10. I usually always order the "Believer" which is chicken parmesan in cream sauce with spaghetti, it's been consistent for years. This time though they must have changed things because it was quite different then it used to be. The chicken portion is way smaller than it used to be and not as thin. The chicken wasn't too tender and quite hard to cut with a steak knife. The cream sauce lacked flavor and they serve it now with grilled veggies which it never used to have. Honestly it was sad they changed the recipe, it's not even called the "believer" anymore. Wish I would have ordered something else 5/10. My children's meals were large and tasty though! My daughter's Mac and cheese was homemade and came with a large platter of fresh fruit, which was great! I just feel like some of the quality has gone down. I also remember they used to make their own cheesecake in house and it was the most amazing cheesecake I'd ever eaten, well they don't do that anymore, they get it from somewhere else.
