I watched the big USA game her on Monday and had a lovely experience. The downstairs was a lot of regular tables of people eating, but their upstairs had a lot of TVs showing the game. They were also kind enough to change their seating layout a bit so that everyone could see the screens. I did not interact with any of the staff since you had to go to the bar to order, but the transactions seemed quick and easy. We got a few French 75s on happy hour and they were great. Also loved the polenta and the artichoke dip, which were both also on happy hour. We were very happy to get a few rounds of drinks and a few apps for around $50 on happy hour, what a deal! We were looking for a good place for lunch to sit down and relax after going to the SLU farmers market and after looking at this place on yelp the pictures we decided to give it a try. The food wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't great? Really basic almost cafeteria level food. They must change out the menu often because a lot of the food in the pictures wasn't available (or maybe they do a limited menu some days)? When my soda came, it was flat. I went half the meal with no drink because it was hard getting staff to come close enough to flag down. (It was not crowded. There were maybe 3-4 other smaller parties). I swapped it for another drink but then never got a refill the entire meal. Service was basically non-existent. At one point it looked like there were no staff on floor...we were looking because we needed help. Water never got filled, we never got checked except when food was dropped off. We had to flag them down for the check. This place automatically adds a 20% fee so I guess that is adding to lack of urgency? Never again. In fact, I urge you NOT to go here. There are plenty of other places in the neighborhood to get a mid burger and some sad fries that will probably offer at least some service with the meal (which is what makes me willing to pay more). If you're looking for similar ambiance or food in the area try serious pie instead or quick service. This place isn't worth it. read more

Started the meal off with fried polenta. These are fried cornmeal bites with a side of aioli for dipping. These are hard to find in a restaurant so if you do, order them. You won't be disappointed with the crunchy outside and creamy inside with a kick of aioli. The crispy wich sandwich and side salad was a filling happy hour meal. We were greeted and seated right away. The place itself is large and nicely decorated. We were immediately asked if we knew what we wanted to drink, which caught us a bit off guard. Right after that, we were told there would be a 20% service charge added to the bill. I didn't really like that--I've seen this for large parties, but for just two people it felt odd. It also felt strange to be told about a service charge before any service was actually provided. The food was honestly very mid--wildly average and nothing memorable, especially for the price. Amazing vibe located downtown on 6th Ave. Came here solo on a Thursday evening at 4:30 pm. Like most places in Seattle HH starts at 3 until 6 or 5-6 pm. Chose to sit at one of the high top seats facing the bar which gave me a great view of the kitchen where the servers picked up the food and on the other end I saw people entering and getting seated by the Host. They also have a mezzanine in which there was a private event taking place but was told it had couches and a pool table(s). Started off with a glass of the Argyle Bloom House Pinot Noir which was not a HH item along with the Calamari which had wings and tentacles. The Pinot paired nicely with my appetizer. Ordering a second glass of wine I had Max who was my server fire up the 8 oz prime rib which was nicely done with the broccolini and Yukon Mash. The main dining bar area was busy when I first arrived but soon emptied out as folks wanted to get their HH prices before heading home after work. This is definitely a place to wind down after a busy day as well as catching up with friends or for a date night out. We recently visited Victor Tavern and had a bit of a mixed experience. On a positive note, we were greeted right away and seated promptly, which was a great start. We stopped in during happy hour and really enjoyed a couple of items from that menu--the salt and pepper fries were absolutely delicious, and the Caesar salad was generous enough to split and very satisfying. Unfortunately, the service didn't keep up after that initial impression. Once our food was delivered, it was difficult to get anyone's attention, and no one came back to check on us or take additional orders--we had planned to order the chicken tenders but never got the chance. As for drinks, I would probably skip the house red wine, as it wasn't very enjoyable, and the Old Fashioned leaned much sweeter than expected. Went looking for a late dinner after watching "A Christmas Carol". Decided to try The Victor Tavern for their $9 after 9pm special, really an unheard of price in Seattle. We split the Phoenix and the Reuben. I like a lot of spice, the Phoenix wasn't spicy enough for me, but perfect for my partner. In simple terms it's probably just about the right amount of spice for most people. The corned beef on the Reuben was a little dry, but I'm chalking that up to arriving at 9:30pm. I should mention the sandwiches are ala cart, but unless you're trying to soak up a bunch of booze who really needs a big pile of fries that late in the evening. The facility has a great vibe, music at the appropriate volume and very friendly waitstaff. Now how about $35 out the door for 2 sandwiches and a beer?? I came here for lunch one day and I was definitely not disappointed. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with a well stocked bar and an upscale tavern feel. It wasn't busy at all so I would say lunch is the best time to go if you want some privacy. Our food was amazing. The group ordered burgers, chicken sandwiches and calamari. The calamari wasn't that great but it did not take away from how good everything else was. The chicken sandwich was enormous. It was literally twice the size of your normal sandwich. We came into Victor Tavern early on a Friday night and were seated quickly. We ate off the happy hour menu, which was a great deal. When we were seated we were told gratuity was included, so we didn't need to add anything to else... I assumed this meant they were a no-tip restaurant, but they actually just tacked on an additional 22% hard-coded tip at the end. We got the Everything Pretzels, which were more like rolls. Enjoyed a drink on the all-day Sunday happy hour before the $9-after-9PM even better happy hour hit. I ordered a Truffle Burger (4.5/5) and tried my friend's French Dip (4.5/5). The late night menu is the same size as the standard (or so we were told). For $9, the value here is crazy. Maybe one of the best late-night (well, late-dinner really) options in the area. We did 3 orders of Happy Hour Fries and one order of calamari for the 7 of us. Quality here varied - the first two orders were okay, but the last one came out fresh, hot, and perfectly crispy. Victor tavern The area of South Lake union has expanded so much. I was here on a busy day, by the spheres. There was a booth handing out free bananas. The steps to Amazon were blocked because of aggressive crows protecting their young. Toured here and then went across the street to the Victoria Tavern. My friend and I decided not to order from the food trucks here, even though the smells were delicious. Wanted a sit down place. The Victor Tavern is an upscale sports bar. We were welcomed and gratefully sat down to relax. We started out with drinks. I love coffee drinks, so ordered. the Chai Espresso Martini . This has Vodka, cold brew, chai, coffee liqueur. This had a mix of chai and coffee flavors. It needed a stronger coffee and chai presence, it was a little weak in flavor. My friend ordered a unique sounding drink, the Tipperary. This is Irish whiskey, sweet vermouth, green chartreuse, bitters, orange zest. He really enjoyed the complex mix of flavors in this drink. The ingredients do not seem to work together, but he said it was good. Our next order was artichoke dip. This came with tortilla chips and was a bit more spicy than I like. My friend ordered the French Dip. This came withthinly shaved prime rib, griddled onion, horseradish mayo, sourdough roll, au jus. With a French dip, the prime rib and au jus are the key ingredients to this dish. The au jus could have had more depth to the broth. But the other elements to the dish, made the sandwich divine. I had the salmon, that came with roasted asparagus, potato, shallot, herb gremolata. The salmon unfortunately was overcooked. The accompanying sides were small portions but quite good. Nice array of flavors. Just seemed as if my salmon had sat too long before being served. Ordered a bottle of the alluring name of ESR x Avennia 'Frank the Tank' Bordeaux Blend, to go with our food. Service was attentive throughout our meal. I wish I could live in the apartment building the restaurant is housed in. I would hang out here in the evening, drinking and eating. Then, stumble afterwards to my apartment, happy. The food and drinks could be better, but the hang out vibe is great. You are paying big money for the modern version of a dive sports bar. read more

At the suggestion of my hotel staff, my wife and I went to The Victor Tavern for a light dinner. What a delightful restaurant located just a short walk from our hotel, StayPineapple. We went inside, but it was a little to loud for me and without hesitation they sat us outside. they have a very attentive and friendly staff here. They clearly work together as a team. We ordered lot of finger food and light eating. - Calamari - nice spiced calamari with a crispy breading and tender calamari. - Smoked wings - something new for me. Nice tasting wing with a good crunch and tender meat. - French dip sliders - Extremely tasty and lean meat on a delicious bun This, like other establishments our hotel staff gave us were all winners. Food and drinks were decent. My partner got the Bleu burger off of the $9 after 9pm menu and liked it. I had fries. They were both good, but not anything outstanding. I tried the NA apple cinnamon shrub and it was not great - it tasted very strongly like I was just drinking apple cider vinegar on the rocks. The bartender offered to make me something else and said it was very acidic and vinegary, but I just preferred water at that point. My partner had the Vic's Kentucky coffee and he said it was alright as well. Overall, the food was decent and the drinks were mixed results. Service - the servers were attentive and helpful and I really appreciated the offer to make me something else when she noticed I didn't seem to like it. 5/5 stars for service. Ambiance - it was a cool little spot. It seems to be in a building with an apartment complex above and several other shops and restaurants elsewhere in the building. We sat at the bar and it was a clean, classy, and modern spot across from the spheres. Only thing I would suggest is the dressing for the salad could be a little less tart and also I was trying to pay cash but they don't have a cash register to give change because of I guess it's in a high theft area which I've never come across. My friend brought me here for brunch, and I thought it was cute! Not too busy when we got in on a Sunday at 10:30am. There were plenty of windows and it was nice and bright. I got the Victor Brunch, which came with a lot of stuff. Tons of potatoes, good amount of toast, and two eggs. The toast came with this raspberry or wildberry jam I think(?) which was delicious.
