Decided to stop by here for some Korean bbq as it was closest place to where we were staying. I did not have much expectation and want even planning on doing AYCE option, buttons glad we did. Figured at $36.99, better then j just getting few different meat. Chadol, prime rib steak, boneless short ribs were app very fresh. We did two rounds of meats and also tried pork belly. We did get soft tofu stew ( not made traditionally but it was still very good, and went well with the meat) Service was so great. Those young men were all so very friendly and I really like that they changed the grill pan frequently so that there isn't smoke or meat getting burnt area. For our second to last stop on the recent Small Business CID Food Walk - Baegopa, a Korean BBQ place which we had never heard of before it was advertised in the event menu. The place is quite large, especially compared to most restaurants in the CID. Plenty of tables with grills, although I noticed that they don'tt have vent hoods above. Kind of a problem for KBBQ in my opinion, but I'm sure they have some system in place to keep the interior from getting too smoky. At any rate, since this was for the Food Walk, everything was packaged to go and we weren't able to sample the spread of goods until we got home later about an hour later. Surprisingly, the food was still warm! Spicy Pork Bulgogi Bento ($8) - Woah, this was by far the best deal of the Food Walk. An $8 order comes with basically an entire entree sized bento, filled with several mini dishes nestled in multiple compartments. Per the menu, it's normally $12.95, so even regular price seems to be a good deal given what comes in the box. Firstly, the largest compartment includes a Korean purple rice mixture, perfectly cooked. It has great consistency, being chewy, sweet, and somewhat nutty. The grains are very distinct and the purple rice in particular has a bit of a bite like wild rice. The next compartment is the meat, in this case a spicy pork. The meat is rather firm and perhaps a bit on the tougher side, although it's shaved into thin enough segments for me to not to care too much. The flavor is spicy and slightly sweet with a rich funky fermented taste, perfect when eaten with the rice. A smaller compartment is filled with a bit of chopped romaine lettuce served in a soy sauce based dressing. The dressing slides off the leaves into a puddle on the bottom, rendering most of the lettuce unflavored. I guess the dressing is more of a dip? Then there's a final compartment full of various other sides. There's kimchi, rectangular slices of fish cake, black pepper and soy sauce seasoned bean sprouts, and potatoes stewed in a salty and savory sauce. A veritable bounty of flavor, textures, and variety. I can't vouch for the Korean BBQ served at Baegopa, but I can say that that that the bento boxes seem to be worth the money! The selection for AYCE is mid. There were a lot of marinated meat options but the quality of them were subpar. The marinated ribeye was probably the only good thing we got. The non-marinated options were not worth getting. The grill also burns super fast so the servers have to change the grill out like every 5-10 minutes or something. The service is great though. For the longest time this WAS one of the only Korean bbq places in the area, so it was an easy go-to for my friends and I who live in the city. It's a very casual restaurant with a decent selection of items to grill. Service is pretty quick too from my experience, and the guys there are friendly. Quality of the meat is average, there isn't much I can comment on. I also haven't been back in a while, but KBBQ is usually for occasions anyways. We enjoyed our lunch here. My friend and I did AYCE and we were stuffed. The best thing about this restaurant -- the service. Our servers who were younger men were so friendly, they were attentive and they were fast. Never felt like we had to wave anyone to get their attention and they were constantly checking in to see if we needed anything or wanted to put more orders in for AYCE. The restaurant has to be doing well because there were certainly regulars who came through. The servers knew them well and got them their usuals. The restaurant itself is nice, casual and modern. Honestly, this place has fantastic all-you-can-eat (AYCE) Korean BBQ. My partner and I went here and enjoyed it so much. I had been here once two years ago with a group of friends, so this was my first time back. To make a comparison, we visited a Japanese BBQ place about a month earlier up on Aurora that had a much higher rating on Yelp and presented itself quite fancy. You would think that higher ratings mean better quality, but that wasn't the case at all. While Japanese BBQ and Korean BBQ are a bit different, they aren't drastically so. The service here was far friendlier, with our server checking on us frequently and changing the grill often. The quality of the meats was also significantly better, and the sauces were great! Yes, the price for two people after taxes can be high, but since it's AYCE, just come hungry, and it balances out. My only suggestion is that it would be helpful if the website included pictures of the meats next to the entrée titles, as it would assist those who might not be familiar with them. read more

Went here last week for AYCE Korean BBQ and the experience was pretty underwhelming. The meat selection was fine, but nothing memorable. The marinated ribeye and gochujang pork belly were the only thing my partner and I actually enjoyed, the rest felt very average, especially for an AYCE spot. The atmosphere was not it. It's fully indoor, enclosed, and gets insanely smoky. By the time I left, my clothes and hair smelled like I'd been grilling all night. If you're sensitive to smoke or care about your outfit, be warned. Service was okay, neutral at best. Not rude, but definitely not proactive. Case in point: lettuce. Lettuce is not included in the AYCE and costs $5 per plate. This was never mentioned when we ordered. I even ordered a second plate thinking it was included, which ended up being an extra $10 just for lettuce. As someone who eats Korean BBQ regularly, charging extra for lettuce at an AYCE spot feels borderline ridiculous. And dessert? None. Not even ice cream. Not even something simple as a palate cleanser after all that meat and smoke. You just finish eating... and that's it. Having been to KBBQ places all around Washington, I would without a doubt place Baegopa at the bottom of my list and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. My issues with the restaurant stem mainly from its extremely high prices with minuscule portions. We ordered one of the combos (picture attached) for ~140 dollars after tax and tip and received a paltry portion. Also, the entire time we were at the restaurant, we never received any offers to refill our side dishes (of which we were served one portion for a table of 10) --something that I've never experienced before. 3.5 stars - I will be generous and round it up. Definitely more like 2 or 3 stars if this place were to open in Los Angeles Koreatown. This is one of very very few KBBQ places in the general Seattle area so there is not much hope to get KBBQ unless I fly back to LA or go to NYC (there are some in Bellevue, Lynnwood, and a few in Federal Way, but those are suuuuper far for a person with no car). My friend made reservations, which wasn't too necessary on a Monday, but I can see it being busy during the weekend. We decided to get the AYCE, which is $35.15 per person which is a bit high for the subpar quality of food. My favorite KBBQ place, Hae Jang Chon (although in LA :( ) is now $40 per person, so barely any more expensive for substantially better cuts. It seems like AYCE has more options, as we also get the boneless short rib that a la carte does not offer. All the meats are mediocre quality cuts, except the boneless short rib which is quite tender and juicy. There are some tendons there too, but it is not as bad as the other meats. The banchan and the salad are very good though, so I cannot just easily dismiss this place. Although the place is short staffed, service is still decent. I also liked the "oppa" descriptions when you pay for the bill. These things did make it up somewhat, though I will continue lamenting about the subpar KBBQ in Seattle for the meanwhile read more

Brisket and pork belly was good, but most of the other beef and pork cuts were just alright. They did not offer LA galbi during this visit but instead offered a similar cut: boneless short rib. Everyone in my party liked it and ordered it multiple times! Moving on to the banchan, it was again limited and lacking. There was enough for about one person and we only got the kimchi refilled once. Another downside during our dinner was when they began cleaning up the table next to us. The cleaning solution they sprayed all over it had an overwhelming chemical scent. It was about 30min til their closing time and along with many other tables, my party was still eating. I felt like I could taste the acidity from how strong the smell of the cleaning solution was. It was an unpleasant end to our meal. We went on Pride Day so the servers were just wearing aprons and shorts/pants so We don't know if that was normal lol. But anyway overall food was great. I loved the steamed egg and the marinated beef. We were there on a Sunday around 6pm maybe no lines and got seated really fast. The combo was enough for us whcih was good. Also, the side dish of fish cake and raddish was good. Usually on other kbbq place they dont offer fish cake or if they do it's spicy. So Baegoppa fish cake was not spicy which is good for me since I don't eat spicy. Their payment system is wireless so they just hand over the machine to you and you do the rest. Walking through the International District, we came across this place and decided to pop in. From the outside of doesn't look like much but once you get inside it's a large space and it's very clean. The staff are very friendly and the service was great! We opted in for combo 3 which was very filling for two and we even had leftovers. The tofu soup was hot, fresh and seasoned right. For the meats, they were fresh and seasoned well. We had beef brisket, spicy chicken and subbed the pork belly for garlic pork. The meats cook really fast and paired great with the condiments/sides. Also, we got some whole pieces of lettuce for wraps and don't forget to get some grapefruit Soju to wash it all down. As for the cooking experience, the meat cooked fast and the staff were always around to change out the grill plate when needed.
