If you're looking for premium Japanese bbq, this is a great spot to go! They have amazing cuts and the A5 Wagyu is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend getting the Ishoni rice to pair with the rich meats. This was such a lovely experience and is great for a special occasion.

The food is good. Meat qualify is super high. We made reservations so we can have a seat right after we arrive. The proportion is small so it's a bit pricy. Overall the experience is very good.

My partner and I came here for restaurant week. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Right when you come in, the decor is very calm, open, and beautiful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the $65 Australian Wagyu combo, a mackerel dish, the mushroom medley, and the calpico high cocktail. The meat tasted very fresh and buttery, and the mackerel had a crispy outside and paired very nicely with the wasabi salt seasoning. The mushrooms had a nice assortment of mushrooms (I think shiitake, oyster, & enoki) but the broth was pretty light in flavor and oily to me. The drink was on the sweeter side which is my personal preference. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I would come here for an upscale ambiance or special occasion.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I decided to try ishoni yakiniku during seattle restaurant week (srw). Even though they had a special set menu, you could also order food off of their regular menu as well. Since my friends and I like to eat a variety of food, we ordered one set of the srw deal, and other dishes such as the beef combo, mushroom stew, takoyaki, ishoni rice and a fish!! In the end it came out to be ~$45/person which is not a bad deal. I really enjoyed the wagyu and cuts of beef, and thought the free yuzu ice at the end was a perfect dessert. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I liked the clean interior and the staff were super attentive with taking our order and filling waters.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was such a nice experience if you feel like treating yourself!

On a random day we were really craving some grilled meat and we decided to go here! We were glad we did because it was all amazing! The food was great, very tender and delicious! You also get special cooking from the server if you order the wagyu! Our server cooked our meats to perfection and we loved it! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was clean and inviting, we can definitely see ourselves coming back![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I've now been to this place twice! I loved it so much that I invited my friends to join me to celebrate my bday there! This is Japanese cuisine where you cook your own meats! Their meat selection is great and the flavor is amazing! I think about this place and I immediately feel happy! The only reason for the 4 stars is because both times we have been there, I didn't feel very welcomed by the staff and we were kind of neglected. We constantly had to flag them down or ask a different server for something. I'm pretty sure I will visit again, just because the food is really that good, but I am on the hunt for a place that is just as good, but also makes me feel welcomed!

The service was good. The waiter was very attentive and on top of everything. The restaurant was very clean and spacious. The food was delicious. No complaints.

Everything about this hit the spot, the meat was fresh and high quality, with a variety of cuts. I visited during Seattle Restaurant Week and so cannot recommend the specific set that I ordered (it was a restaurant week exclusive), but their regular menu sets look excellent as well. The grilling experience is over a proper grate instead of the metal pans popular with modern bbq experiences. I found the flavor/taste to be more similar to bbq in Asia (although charcoal grills would put this in another tier altogether). My least favorite part of the meal was not the meat at all, but the takoyaki, which just had a bit too much sauce to eat comfortably.

We went for Seattle restaurant week and didn't end up ordering that set because we didn't like the options very much after looking at the rest of the menu. The service is really nice and really fast here. We got the creamy udon which we all thought was the worst thing we had there by far and I would discourage ordering it, it was creamy and cheesey but weirdly we felt like the noodle didn't have much taste? Hard to explain but how all 3 of us felt. We got 2, one was the Waygu skirt and some other, and the Waygu with bbq sauce was by far better than the other with salt and pepper. We also got pork which was fine. The Takoyaki was pretty good though . Overall everything was good and they even give you a complimentary treat at the end which was sour and light and good

TLDR: Best non-AYCE yakiniku experience I've ever had. Highly recommend the Ishoni Beef Combo (or Flat Meet) and/or their Seafood Combo. - - - - - - I had a strong itch to have yakiniku and was glad I stumbled upon Ishoni Yakiniku while browsing Capitol Hill. I ended up visiting with a friend, and we were welcomed by a nice wooden interior well decorated with Japanese pieces and friendly staff members. We ordered their Creamy Mentaiko Udon with Seafood, Ishoni Beef Combo, Seafood Combo, and Salmon Ochazuke. The Creamy Mentaiko Udon with Seafood was a surprise, since I wasn't expecting this when thinking about yakiniku. Nonethless, it was a very solid dish with clean clams, juicy tomatoes, and creamy pasta. The creaminess with a bit "watery chunky" and a solid 4/5. The Ishoni Beef Combo... now THIS is a good sampler to get. Between all the meats, the best one is the tender flap meat and rib fingers. The other meats were also delicious, but those were the ones that stood out, especially with their garlic butter. We also added on the Seafood Combo which included cuttlefish, shrimp, and scallop. When grilled, the shrimps and scallops were crisp - even more delicious when dipped in their citrus sauce. The cuttlefish was also tasty and best eaten with their darker sauce. The salmon ochazuke was a nice palate cleanser and light carb. Though there was not much salmon, the rice was smooth and went down nicely. Its submergence in green tea made it even softer and smoother - yum! Once we finished, we were also treated to a small cup of yuzu sorbet, an unexpected treat. I'm generally not a fan of sweets, but I ended up finishing the entire cup!

We had a reservation for this place. I would definitely recommend this place for japanese bbq. Their menu is a QR code you scan to see. It was easy to follow. The staff are very friendly and efficient. With waters ready and ordering. At the end of your meal you receive a little refreshment as a complimentary. I would love to comeback and try different things on the menu.

Ishoni Yakiniku in Seattle is easily one of the best Japanese BBQ spots I've had the pleasure of visiting. The experience here is all about quality and authenticity, from the premium cuts of meat to the attentive service. Each piece of meat was fresh, tender, and perfectly marbled, providing that melt-in-your-mouth sensation that makes Japanese BBQ so special. The selection ranges from rich, buttery Wagyu beef to succulent pork and flavorful chicken, each offering a unique taste experience. The grilling process at your own table adds a fun, interactive element to the meal, allowing you to cook each piece to your liking. The dipping sauces and marinades were spot on, enhancing the natural flavors of the meat without overpowering them. The side dishes, from the salads to the miso soup and even the fried rice, were the perfect accompaniments, balancing the richness of the BBQ with fresh, clean flavors. What sets Ishoni Yakiniku apart is not just the food but the overall experience. The atmosphere is cozy yet vibrant, and the staff are knowledgeable, guiding you through the menu and ensuring you have everything you need for a fantastic meal. They ended our meal with a small yuzu shaved ice dessert that was the best way to end our meal!

Ishoni Beef Combo, Pork Belly, and Ishoni Rice
    Leslie Y.

Came here for dinner with a friend and we were so impressed! We arrived at peak dinner hours so it was pretty busy and we had to wait a little. We ordered the Ishoni Beef Combo, Premium Beef Tongue, Spicy Miso Pork Belly, Ishoni Rice, Sweet Potato with Cheese, and the Sesame Panna Cotta to share. The beef combo was amazing, and we actually really liked the Premium Beef Tongue despite it being our first time trying it. All of the meats were super high quality. The Ishoni Rice and Sweet Potato with Cheese were perfect for sharing between me and my friend. The sweet potato dish was super soft and had the perfect mix of savory and sweetness, definitely a must-try! The sesame panna cotta was a bit small but we loved the taste and the texture. Service was a little hectic since it was so busy but the staff were very nice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Decent amount of seating and there were a lot of groups dining at the time I was there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will definitely come again!

At least for this style- Texas style...sort of a combo with both dry rub (Memphis style) and a kick ass sauce ala KC. It was excellent. We both wanted the ribs and brisket so we each got the 'double trouble' and got different sides...greens, cornbread, corn pudding and mashed potatoes. Oh yeah, we also got the fried pickle appetizer. The meat was perfectly done...tender and smoky. Each side was big, and flavorful. I especially liked the greens, my son said it was the best he'd had. Then they brought out the banana pudding. When the server put it on the table my son made a reference to a vampire movie we'd recently watched where the vampires could see the arteries in the necks of their victims and he made a motion to show that the banana pudding was almost pulsating on the table before us. We descended on that poor pudding like crazed nosferatu just awakening from a centuries long nap. Blood lust. It was so good. Gone in about 1 minute. Our evil souls were barely sated. Our thirst for banana pudding only temporarily slaked. The server joked that he's always wanted to bring in a boba straw for the stuff. It's good. Anyway- put this place on your list. Best bbq in Seattle? Maybe? This is a food genre that's important to me and I haven't yet seen better. $130 for two people with tip, wine and a take-home pudding.

One day, lightning struck a tree, causing a massive forest fire that killed many animals. Our ancestors then discovered that cooked meat tasted much better than raw meat. This is why roast meat has always been regarded as an important part of the human diet. Today I gathered with friends and chose this barbecue restaurant. It's located north of Redmond, with a prominent sign and plenty of parking. Ambiance: The decor is creative, but it feels quite contradictory. Barbecue is inherently a very "Jianghu" (lively, rough-and-tumble) kind of thing, yet the restaurant leans toward an artistic, literary style. When I used to run my own restaurant, I followed a principle: avoid anything unrelated to the core dining experience. Seeing many books on the shelves here, I understand they're trying to bridge Jianghu and artistry -- but it clearly feels out of place. That said, the place is very clean, and the stickers/decorations are festive. Service: My high rating for this restaurant is largely based on the service. After we sat down, we were given free appetizers -- braised peanuts, which tasted great. The staff training is very professional, whether it's taking orders, making recommendations, attending to us during the meal, or checking on tables and refilling water. All excellent. Taste: Jianghu-style cuisine is characterized by boldness, satisfaction, and not sweating the small details. We ordered spicy hot pot (Malatang), spicy hot pot skewers, grilled beef, lamb, chicken gizzards, oysters, and many other items. First, the Malatang and spicy skewers tasted almost identical, so it felt like eating the same thing. The grilled skewers were just average -- neither good nor bad. The oysters were very tasty. However, the shrimp in the spicy skewers were very unfresh, which was disappointing. "By the way, the prices at 'Friendship Skewers' are anything but friendly -- I think it's quite overpriced overall."

A classic lunch spot in Pioneer Square for good reason. This is probably one of the most reasonable…read moreBBQ prices for value I've seen in Seattle. While it's not the best BBQ, it gets the job done with great service and prices especially when you're craving it and in the neighborhood. I had the lipstick sandwich, which I got with beef brisket, and also comes with coleslaw, dill pickle, and mustard BBQ as toppings. The meat was tasty, and the toppings were well balanced. The bread was pretty standard as well. What really impressed me was the cornbread. It hit the perfect cornbread notes to my preferences - really rich, buttery, almost melt-in-your-mouth texture with prominent butter-corn notes. Seriously one of the best cornbreads I've had in my life! And such a great value at the way its priced, like the rest of the menu. Definitely check it out, if anything grab a piece of their cornbread.

They have a few seatings but not much and it can get cramped. Foodwise: Brisket sandwich: pretty good, the brisket was soft and flavorful. It's simple but satisfying Pork ribs salad: pork had barely meat on it, it wasn't tender and kinda bland, you definitely need the sauce. The salad was a bit much in terms of dressing. I wish they had the dressing on the side so I can put as much as I want. They were nice and gave us 3 ribs though instead of 2. Chili: came with chips. Pretty standard nothing special. Overall, it's a pretty average place. The service was good though. The people are super nice and price is good as well.
