I'm not sure if it's that the quality of the pho at the downtown location is inherently worse but this Pho Bac location was miles better. I did get another dish here though, the pho sa te, which I believe is not on the menu at the downtown location. Regardless, I highly recommend getting this pho, it was super flavorful with a heavy peanut flavor and plenty of spice (if you can't handle spice, ask for less spice or don't get it bc it's quite spicy). It also comes with a lot of meat and noodles that both go quite nicely with the broth. Service leaves a bit to be desired, I kind of just sat down anywhere and then had to call over a waiter to get my order. Definitely the best of the Pho Bac locations in Seattle! The store is big and open with bright light shining through the windows. There's a decent amount of parking, compared to the International District location. They have clean gender neutral bathrooms. They are super efficient with placing and fulfilling orders - our pho came out within 5 minutes of ordering! The pho ga (chicken pho) was soooo delicious! FYI it's made with beef broth. Compared to typical boiled chicken at other pho places, this chicken is grilled so it added extra flavor to the broth. It's also super tender and juicy compared to the typical dry boiled chicken at other places. This is one of the best bowls of pho I've had, tied with the veggie pho I had at the International District location. If a Vietnamese restaurant constantly has people coming in and out to eat their stuff, you know the food's gonna be fresh and good for the stomach! This is one of those places, and I'm happy that it's not too much of a drive either. I came here with my sis on a Tuesday noon around 11:30pm for some lunch, and got seated quickly to a spacious seating area with tons of tables for mostly groups of up to 4 people. Vietnamese music was blasting from the speakers but not at an unbearably loud volume, and I Shazamed a couple of them because they sounded really good. That being said, it gets noisy in here the more people there are since sound vibrates around the inside. Their menu has many choices for pho, though prices are different only depending on whether you get a regular or large bowl. They also have appetizers, vermicelli noodle bowls (bun), extra add-ons and drinks. I got their large pho tai nam gan sach (pho with rare steak, brisket, tendon and tripe), while my sis got their regular pho tai bo vien (pho with rare steak and meatballs). Pho's usually standard, though I liked this one a lot since their broth is fresh and homely, the noodles were cooked all the way through, and the food came out really fast. We also split an order of cha gio (fried eggrolls), which comes with only 2 of them though both are long pieces. These were piping hot and crispy on the outside. This place has become one of my favorite spots to get pho. This place has parking on the side of the building but it's pretty limited, and street parking a little farther ahead may be difficult to get through. I actually decided last minute that I was going to hop off the link light rail train to have lunch with my daughter at Mt Baker station. Pho Bac is actually the closest restaurant because I didn't want to wander too far away from the train station. Anyway, the restaurant itself is cool. It's spacious seating with clean interior. You must be OK with Vietnamese music blasting in the background because you're eating at a Vietnamese restaurant... after all. The restaurant itself is spacious, low-frills, and really straightforward. They're not the cleeeanest establishment, but somehow that almost adds to the authenticity, haha. My husband and I ordered 2 pho tai, an order of shrimp goi cuon, and the Chinese donuts. The brisket/tai was a little tough, and the goi cuon wasn't anything too special. I love it here. Immediately upon entry you're a little thrown off because it doesn't look like most restaurants in Seattle. The large open space feels almost like a cafeteria. Yet the nativity scene will give you the feels of going to visit your grandma. The staff will also make you feel at home. Our waiter was wearing some awesome camo shorts and high compression socks. He seemed like the expert utility man for any restaurant, able to accomplish any task which is required to keep the place running. Everything is also impeccably clean. There are over 20 different Pho options that you can choose from. And it's only $1 extra to get a large, so why not? They also have fries, which seemed unique for a Pho spot, so of course we got them. They're ultra crispy which makes them perfect for dipping in the broth. The Pho was fantastic and absolutely huge. Amazing aromas are being thrown out of this bowl, and you already know in loading it up with all of the sauces and accoutrements provided. My pictures of the pho itself look horrible, so I'm going to leave them off. That's not their fault though, more so user error on my part. I will for sure be back when I'm in the area. read more

They didn't fully clean the table so we had to wipe the table on our own. We waited about 10 minutes for our food, which seemed a bit slow for a pho place. Ambiance: more like cafeteria style. After visiting the S Jackson location of Pho Bac, we returned again a couple days later for a second helping of the amazing pho. This location wasn't as busy, so we were able to get a table quickly and place our order. We ended up getting the beef rib pho this time which is apparently another specialty dish of the restaurant. The food came out quickly and with massive portions. The pho came with two succulent beef ribs towering over the bowl. It was very thoughtful that a knife and plate was provided with the order, as I wouldn't have known where to even begin eating the ribs. All in all, the flavors of the pho were spot on and coupled with the large serving of beef ribs, I was having the time of my life. Food consistency was the same across the different locations although, we did notice that the hoisin sauce here tasted like the traditional Lee Kum Kee sauce, while the S Jackson location had maybe a house blend of hoisin? In terms of restaurant setting, I'd say this location is more of the no frills layout, focusing on the food, while the S Jackson location might be a little trendier for a date, especially with the attached bar.
